This was my first time here, and as a somewhat newbie to authentic Korean food (outside of the trendy Kbbq spots), I was a huge fan! From the friendly service that made us feel like home, to the delicious food, everything hit the spot. We ordered the cold noodle, seafood pancake, bibambap, and short rib combo. All the dishes were so good! And all the banchan that came with it was the cherry on top. The only negative was the table was kind of small for all the dishes...though that could have been user error with us ordering way too much. Portions were surprisingly big, especially the seafood pancake. The whole time, our littlest one was making a mess and the ladies that worked there did not seem perturbed at all, and kept commenting about how cute he was and interacting with him. This type of service and response made us feel more at ease and able to "enjoy" our meal, and that makes a world of difference. I would recommend! Note the parking lot is a little small. read more

I came here for dinner with a friend a little before 7pm and was able to get seated right away. I was excited to try this place due to the good reviews and with the previous owners who made amazing naengmyeon I was hoping this new management would be able to carry on the work of the previous one. My mom also tried this place and recommended it, so I felt confident this would be a spot I would be coming often. We ordered the naengmyeon combo with spicy marinated pork and a side of soybean paste stew. The lady was nice when she seated us, but seemed a little bothered when we only ordered the above items, because she coldly asked "if that was all" and we said yes. She walked away then yells back asking if we wanted rice because rice wasn't included, and we said no. Despite the rough start with the vibe of the lady who took our order I was still hopeful the food itself would make up for it. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. I've never had naengmyeon that had so much chili flakes, and as someone who doesn't mind them, it was weird. The soybean paste soup was bland. And the side dishes were just okay. After the meal, I got really thirsty and my face was puffy so they are using msg. If it was a good meal, I wouldn't have minded the msg, but for food that was mediocre at best was not worth it. Delicious food, but small spot and a small mishap. Ordered the bossam (steamed pork) with doenjang jiggae (soybean stew) and veggie wrap combo. The food was actually very good and flavorful. The banchan also had plenty of flavor and uniqueness that stands out from other Korean restaurants. The service is good and friendly. Keep in mind this is a small spot so they are pretty attentive. With that said, this is not a good place for groups unless you're willing to wait a bit to have the combine tables. The mishap: The steamed pork had plastic on the sides of almost each piece. I brought this up to the waitress who spoke to the kitchen crew and told me that before they steamed it they wrapped it in plastic to make it easier to roll and they must have forgotten to take it off after steaming. At the very least, they owned up to it and apologized. Another thing to note. The parking lot is small (shared lot) and the parking spaces are small too so expect to see people parked on the lines. The driveway is also not very low car friendly, FYI. Overall, if it weren't for the plastic pieces, this would have been perfect. Came in for lunch with my aunt. We were craving authentic Korean dishes. Parking: There's a small parking lot with plenty of open spots. Ambiance/Environment: They have a small indoor space with a decent amount of seating. It's very clean inside. The tables, chairs, booths, and utensils are clean. It's a very casual and welcoming. It wasn't busy at all for a weekday. Service: We were greeted immediately when we entered. Our server was nice, attentive, and efficient. She checked on us a few times. I found a piece of hair in the vegetable wrap, and she was very apologetic and immediately came back with a new vegetable wrap. Our dishes also came out under 15 min after ordering. Food & drinks: You get complimentary tea or hot tea for the table. So delicious! The banchan was marinated to perfection and paired deliciously with the main courses! 1) #22 Spicy Chicken + soybean paste stew + vegetable wrap - The chicken was cooked thoroughly and not spicy at all. It was seasoned well and had a lil kick to it. I made use of the new vegetable wrap by taking a lettuce and placing chicken, carrot, and cucumber and rolling it up. The soybean paste stew was a bit salty for my taste, but perfect for the cold weather. 2) Marinated Beef Hot-Stone Bibimbap - The sizing of the hot-stone plate was large! The rice was crispy on the bottom and topped with a generous amount of vegetables. The beef tasted as expected. Make sure to drench it in sauce to give it more flavor. Stumbled upon this place when the original Korean restaurant I was going to go to up the street from this turned out to be closed. And wow, so glad I decided to drive down for this place! The banchan spread here was beautiful. I was in awe of how the different types plus all the veggies! There was cucumber radish, beansprouts, spinach, eggplant, shishito peppers, a tomato vinegrette salad, jap chae, fish cake, and if I'm missing anything - you can see the pic for yourself. They were all soo delicious! Was feeling under the weather and needed some korean soups/tangs I ordered the gamjatang and to my surprise, they used pork ribs instead of pork neck bones which works too. The potato was cooked to perfection, and broth was flavorful. It was definitely heavier. You get a choice between white or purple rice as well. My partner got the samgyetang and the broth was thicker and creamier than other places! It was definitely different to us because all the other samgyetangs we've had are thinner and lighter broths. Han Mi serves delicious and authentic Korean food in Artesia and I think I am the last to know this. We arrived at 11:30 for lunch. 15 minutes later, all the tables were full of Korean grandmas and grandpas so I already knew the food was going to be fire. I love nakji bokeumbap....i think its called "octopus hot stone rice" and I have eaten it at so many places all over LA. Well they have the best one here at Han Mi. All of the other tables ordered one of their fish stews which looked like overflowing cauldrons. Some might complain that it's not salty enough?? But this place is so perfect for people who loves eating Korean home cooked meals. Side dishes changes by season. This was my first time getting cold noodles and second time giving a shot to cold noodles and I love it! My first time was another restaurant I didn't really like it that much bc it was too acidic. When I'm craving Korean food, this is my definite go to place! The service is always so nice and helpful. Upon walking in, you know it's a legit Korean restaurant based off the customers. But don't worry, even if you aren't Korean, the staff makes you feel very welcome. The kimchi jjigae is the BEST here!! It's so rich in flavor. No matter how much food we already ordered, kimchi jjigae is a must for me. The banchans seem to rotate. I've come here so often, I have tried so many things off their menu. Love finding solid Korean restaurants and this is in a very inconspicuous plaza. Tucked away in the corner, this place serves amazing food and you know it's a good Korean restaurant when their side dishes are good too. I got the perilla chicken soup and my parents shared the dumpling jongol which is a big pot filled with dumplings, rice cake, veggies and even udon noodles. Both were delicious! I was so focused on trying to get all the meat off my chicken that I didn't get to drink too much of my soup, BUT great thing to take back home and add things to eat for a future meal. Even with me eating the vegetables, there's usually plenty of vegetables so my husband does not order extra. Their soups & stews are good, as well as the pork rib Jjim. If they have the front door open, a lot of flies come in, even with the curtain-like screen. But that's difficult to control... There seems to have been a change of ownership for this Korean restaurant. Came for a lunch on a very hot summer Friday afternoon and I'd have to say I haven't ever seen this place that packed. Every customer seemed to be getting the cold buckwheat noodle soup: it came in a large metal bowl, quite icy and perfectly chewy. The dish is served with a half boiled egg, thinly sliced beef and cucumbers plus a crisp semi round of Asian pear. There is a cold noodle combo with marinated grilled short rib LA style or galbi , quite tasty and tender. I did not see this on the menu but it was on a sign on the wall. We also got a chives pancake: it's made so well here: crispy edges and tender pancake - not too thick nor thin. Quite busy in the summertime, friendly wait staff . The space inside is pretty small, so just be weary with larger parties. We got the Korean seafood pancake, seafood tofu soup and the bossam. I would say the prices here are moderate, but the portions are quite hefty. The seafood pancake was huge and between 4 people it was even too big to finish. The bossam came with a giant plate of fresh veggies to wrap in and lots of banchan to pair with it. The tofu soup was full of flavor and packed with seafood. As a Korean-American living in Southern California, I'm very hesitant to try new Korean restaurants because nothing compares to homemade Korean food made by your mom/grandma but this place looked very promising. Got their Marinated Beef Hot-Stone (Dolsot) Bibimbap and it was delicious! Comes out piping hot and it stayed hot until I had my last bite. No single ingredient overpowered each other which is rare these days. Everything worked so well and I also loved how light their chili paste was. My mom had their Kalguksu and it was honestly really good. So light yet very flavorful. Another huge W for this restaurant is their banchan. They provide you with a lot of different banchans which were all flavorful and not too salty. My mom and I both approved of their banchan. I am Korean and our family loves this restaurant! The food portions and flavor are on point! The owners and servers are always friendly and polite. We did order the cold noodles that came out tasting a bit odd during one of our visits, so the server took my number and the owner called me the very next morning apologizing and asking us to come back "on the house." We went back and they remade that dish with brand new beef stock that was made that morning. Much better!! It's a small space without a ton of tables, but that makes it feel more homey and authentic. read more

The short ribs were a bit of a hassle to deal with and cut up so that I can add them to the soup, but the soup was delicious and had a nice flavor. I think next time I'll probably bet the beef rib soup w/cabbage since I wished there was a bit more in the soup. Their banchan was delicious! They had a lot of options that I don't normally get at like the other tofu or kbbq places so I was surprised. I really liked their mac salad since it seems like the sauce was more cheese-based than mayo so that was a nice surprise. The service was pretty fast, granted we were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant, at 11a and can see this place getting rather busy. Hanmi is small family owned Korean restaurant in a Norwalk strip mall. There is a large parking lot out front but the strip mall gets very busy so it can be hard to find a spot. The main dish here is okay but the banchan is here is so fresh and uses seasonal vegetables. I've been here twice now and have enjoyed both experiences. It reminds me of South Korea because the banchans are more unique and they have vegetable wraps here. The banchans include more than the usual basic kimchi and cucumber kimchi. We got eggplant, seaweed, and different types of vegetables. There was also a tomato and apple side that we enjoyed. There were some variations each time we came. We tried their spicy pork vegetable wrap combo and also their boiled pork (suyuk) combo and liked both. We also tried their grilled dried pollock and pollock stew. My husband liked the grilled dried pollock better, but I wasn't much of a fan because of the texture. As for the pollock stew, it was very flavorful, somewhat spicy, and had a lot of vegetables but only three pieces of pollock. Service was great both times and they serve iced barley tea instead of water. Super glad that this new mom n' pop shop still has the spicy buckwheat noodle (bibim naeng myun) on their menu but it's seasonal (summer time only). This place used to be Gombo Wang, a Korean restaurant that specialized in cold/spicy noodles. The owners from Gombo Wang (2.0) aren't the owners for this new restaurant-- so they expanded their menu to include more traditional dishes such as knife-cut noodles and casseroles. I ordered the Bulgogi (marinated beef) Ssam Bap combo which comes with rice, lettuce wraps and a soybean paste stew. This combo definitely gets you the bang for your buck. They also have the Combo for pork and chicken! The staff was very kind, welcoming and efficient in packaging my takeout order. I'll definitely be back to try their cold/spicy noodles in the summer time and am excited to try other items on their menu such as their monkfish and broiled pork belly (bossam) combo. Came last Sunday for lunch with girlfriends to get some good Korean food. The restaurant is in the corner of a plaza and newly opened. We went for a late lunch so it was quiet inside with a few tables still eating. The ladies welcomed us and we got seated right away. The banchans (side dishes) were seasoned well and had good flavor. We ordered kimchi and pork and the pork bossam combo. Kimchi and pork - had a lot of pork ribs, which was tender and fell off the bone. There was so much meat that I wished there was more kimchi. There were also rice cakes mixed in. It was spicy and sour since they use the super fermented kimchi. So delicious! Only thing was there was a lot of oil in the broth but I would still order this again. Pork bossam combo - probably best bossam I've had recently. The meat has the perfect proportion of fat and meat. The meat doesn't smell too porky. The combo also comes with a side of bean paste soup. It was so delicious! The portions were big. I can't remember what the elders ate but I enjoyed the gamja tang aka pork neck soup. Banchan variety was solid and tasty especially the kimchee. We definitely asked for more kimchee.
