Lots of specials, lots of variety, likely something for everyone, even those on special diets. Inexpensive. Ordered regular cheeseburger and BBQ cheeseburger (BBQ sauce instead of ketchup and mustard). For 75 cents extra, I made the burgers deluxe (lettuce, tomato, huge onion slice,not just a few rings). Also got one order of fries (puffy, crinkle-cut) and an order of crispy gau gee (5 pieces). If you are looking for a gourmet or special burger, you'll be disappointed. Take it for what it is, a good, regular, local burger, and you'll enjoy it. The meat and bun were fresh, as were the toppings. Both the fries and gau gee were winners - hot and fresh, not oily or greasy. The oil was hot enough and clean, so the fries and gau gee tasted like they should, not fish or chicken or whatever else had just been fried. The gau gee was homemade and generously stuffed. We were looking for a place that was open for lunch on Friday because everything was closed due to Hurricane Lane. We heard that the wait for the drive-thru at the Jack in the Box on Ward was about 45 minutes when someone mentioned that New Queen Barbeque was open. I've ordered take out from here several times within the past year but I always get pretty much the same things, the pork chops, steak and onions, and lemon chicken... what can I say!? Old habits die hard! My bf and I enjoy the pork chops. It's always cooked nice and tender and it's also very tasty. Their lemon chicken isn't that bad, my only complaint would be the lemon sauce, it's not consistent. Some days the lemon sauce would be just the right amount of thickness and other days it would be watered down a lot! The sauce is very lemony when it's made right! The steak and onions is your typical dish. There's nothing fancy about it, I just like it because they kill it with onions and I really love onions! Uncovering mythical business that maybe you didn't believe in or never even heard of. And speaking of sparkles, here's a good one to start! Queen's Bar-B-Q is located down the street from Imperial Plaza - just past the treacherous Angry Korean Lady Ah-Lang. Never heard of Queen's Bar B Q? This mythical place is in a sea of auto repair warehouses and drinky drinky hostess bars. And yes, this place does sparkle! The first thing that got me was the absolute cleanliness of this place. You can peer into their open view kitchen behind the counter to see how meticulously kept this place is. Maybe it's because no one goes here, but I'd like to believe that the sparkle magic of the owners keep this place nice and clean. The Yelpicorn needed some major calories to start a day of gallivanting and rainbow making. So I ordered a Loco Moco with Fried Rice. The prices are confusing - I think there were three different prices for this thing: a breakfast special, a mini size, and a full size. I somehow ended up with a full size for $9 and an extra buck for fried rice substitution. A far cry from the $4.75 breakfast special posted on the front door. My disappointment went away when the massive thing came out. A gargantuan beast had to be slayed at this mythical place, and I was just the unicorn to do it. I honestly believe 5 pounds of fried rice, egg, meat, and gravy was my obstacle. Even a Unicorn's Horn-ger was not enough to slay the tasty Loco Moco creature. Ask anybody, rarely do leftovers happen in the Unicorn's presence. But this day - I was defeated. Should you choose to take this quest, heed my advice noble enchanted food hunters. I always wonder if this chinese hole in the wall restaurant was worth taking a second chance after discovering that the food they served me, Teriyaki BBQ chicken, was not cooked thouroughly. It really grossed me out when I cut through the chicken and it was pink inside. A few weeks later, I figure I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again so they could redeem their mistake. I ordered the same plate as usual because it is always tasty. I got my plate to go and took it back to my work to eat. Hungry and waiting to get my grind on I proceed to open my plate lunch. When I opened it I discovered that it was the wrong order. I'm not a hardcore fan of plate lunches, so I didn't think to give this place a try until I saw the picture for the breakfast combo on the window. Truly truly truly, Queens BBQ serves up the breakfast of champions. In the mandatory Styrofoam box, comes a mountain of white rice, 2 eggs, spam, bacon, Portuguese sausage, and breakfast sausage. The sheer amount of food that comes in a serving is MASSIVE, with a capital M! Seriously, I think ordering this gives me my fill of breakfast meats for a month. Nevertheless, it's delicious, and a steal! Queen's also serves up an assortment of plate lunches--I've tried a few of them, but can only really recommend the garlic chicken. Otherwise, any of the other items are your standard plate lunch fare. If you're feeling fancy though, I would give the crab puffs a try! I really enjoy them; won tons filled with imitation crab and veggie, definitely a nice treat. Parking is a little bit of a spectacle here, since it's located on the corner of Queen + Cook St. There is no parking lot, but plenty of metered parking available along Cook St. Just pop in a quarter, run in and run out! I wouldn't recommend eating in anywho, the restaurant gets packed during the lunch rush, and the ambiance inside isn't much. One of my favorite go to places when i crave fried chicken. Love their fried chicken; it's crispy, moist, perfectly cooked all the way through and very tasty. They have other local faves and plenty of choices on their menu. Parking can be an issue, but there's street parking if you can find one. I totally remember eating here when I was in high school. My mom worked down the street and she would grab take out so when we got to her job we'd have a ton of food to eat. They no longer had the chicken katsu curry, they had no teri pork, no steak. Too bad, the steak sounded good and the teri pork came a close second. Anywho...I reluctantly got the seafood mix plate with fried chicken. It was HUGE! Literally, the plate could not be closed. A piece of mahimahi the size of my entire hand, three pieces butterflied fried shrimp, two big fried chicken, tons of rice and a scoop of mac salad for $7.95. We also had a mixed plate with chili. $7.95 for a hamburger steak with gravy, teri beef, chili, rice and mac salad. The food is your standard L&L type food...it's just food. Nothing spectacular or outstanding. Everythings just thrown in the plate, chli mixed with hamburger steak gravy, chili/gravy all over the mac salad. That kinda grossed me out...but I mean, that's how it is at most hole in the wall places. If you are starving and are a sumo wrestler...eat here. The value is great!! Food is meh. Then she asks me to repeat it, so I did, and same results she talks over me. So I finally get my order in, and I go to pick it up... Being that it took me over 5 minutes to place a phone order for 1 PLATE, I'd expect to have the right food... So I pick it up, and drive back to work... I open the plate and it's not even my order. Queens BBQ............Parking is a major PAIN.............the sun is beaming down upon your head...............perspiration beads up along your hair line................the lady asks for your order in a not so friendly way, you pay for it and leave. When you get to your office and you open up that plate lunch box......well first of all the box barely closes because they chicken thighs are so big. In addition, the menu prices seem to have gone up and prices are not accurate according to the posted menu. That being said, you can't go wrong for a $5.50 or whatever it is breakfast (special) featuring eggs, bacon, pork sausage, spam AND Portuguese sausage! Their hours of operation allow you to get an early bird breakfast or (early) dinner, so gotta love the convenience they offer. You can't beat the value even if the menu prices are inaccurate. Went here for the first time today after a friend pointed it out, i had heard some decent things about it, and after i have seen it in existence for what seems like centuries...or at least a few years. Large portion size, good prices, tasty food. I got the mixed plate and ended up with what amounted to about 3 scoops of rice, one scoop of mac salad, A LOT of chili, topped with a relatively small hamburger patty and an extra large piece of teriyaki steak. The rice was rice...you can't mess that up and they didn't. The mac salad was really good...probably because whenever you mix anything mayo based with chili, it's got to be good!!! The hamburger patty was cooked well done and you'd have with a loco moco. I liked the chili, but my brother and sister thought the chili was just as good or better than Zippy's since it also had a bit of a kick to it. I enjoyed the Teri Steak because it was a little sweeter than i'm used to having and it seemed to go well with my mood, i guess. My friend got the pork chops and it came with about 2.5 very good sized chops smothered with onions. He can usually finish a whole plate lunch, and he only got through about 1.5 of the chops. He seemed pretty content, but i didn't really do my due yelp dilligence and ask him...shame on me :-P In the end, it wasn't a place i'd go out of my way to go to, but it was worth the price and a place i'd return to when i'm in the area again. I've lived down the road for quite some time and I have seen many people go in and out during there lunch rush. So today was the first time I gave it a chance and I must say it was very good. They definitely had a bigger selection of food then I expected. We came in around noon and I had the mochiko chicken while my girlfriend really wanted breakfast. They stop serving breakfast at 10:30 but the lady that works there was such a sweetheart she made her French toast after breakfast hours. I will definitely be coming back soon ! read more

I'm thinking they make a whole batch of these chicken pieces for their other menu items and just heat it up and put on a different sauce. looked and tasted like it was on its 3rd round in the fryer since the chicken was completely dried out. The orange sauce was to vinegary also. ended up not being able to eat most of the chicken and just ate the rice and salad. I used to come here a few years ago. I've only had their breakfast plate which has spam, portugese sausage, link sausage, and bacon with 2 eggs and rice for $4.50. It's ready in 5 minutes and always satisfies a post-surf craving. Minimum $5 for credit card purchase. It's oily as its all done on a plancha with lots of oil. Call your order in and come pick up. About 5-6 tables with lots of construction worker and people who work in 711 Kapiolani during lunchtime. It's on the corner of Cooke and Queen next to the old Tsukenjo's lunch house. read more

No surprise here. This is your standard hole-in-the-wall plate lunch place. Good local food. Prices are on the affordable side for their plate lunches. Parking can be a little tricky depending at what time of the day you're going as it's street parking. Place is pretty clean with some indoor tables. I ordered a regular size mochiko chicken plate lunch which was pretty standard with the mac salad being really good. The one bummer was the drinks which we can and bottle options but were overpriced. The $.99 Arizona iced tea was almost $2.00! No fountain drink options. If I'm in the area I would eat here but the problem is that there is so many good plate lunch options everywhere you go that I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat here unless they have a signature dish that's broke da mouth. The parking here can be a little frustrating unless you're lucky. This joint is on the corner so you can't miss it. The place is clean and simple. Many people come here before they go into the office or work and school in general. Breakfast time isn't really that busy. The food is affordable here. We got the omelette with Portuguese sausage and the two large eggs and Portuguese sausage for the same price. Pretty much the same if you get the two large eggs scrambled and possibly more meat in it. They put a lot of rice on your plate. The rice is only okay. I personally didn't like how we had to buy bottle water instead of getting tap water like the restaurants behind this store. However this place okay for breakfast and it's affordable. It's definitely better than McDonald's Portuguese sausage eggs and rice plate and they are both around the same price. read more

Sooooo good. Awesome food and convenient location. The katsu curry mini plate was like $7 and even though it was a mini plate I was still absolutely stuffed after lunch. The food came out lightning fast and was super delicious. The chicken katsu was crispy and tender! I could probably have handled a heavier layer of curry and a little less mac salad in exchange for more rice, but the portions probably would have evened out if I got a full size plate. My only critique is that they use a lot of plastic and Styrofoam. I know this is typical of a plate lunch place but why not use more eco-conscious containers and paper instead of plastic bags? You get two eggs, a slice of spam, three pieces of bacon, portugese sausage AND pork link sausage!! We are talking a belly full of food here. And its priced lower than other places who sell a breakfast plate. You get all of this food for 4.95!!! (yes...that said $4.95!) The service is fairly quick. And you can call your orders in ahead of time. Just based on the rock bottom price, I want to give them 5 stars. But I have called and make take out orders and rountinely ask for my eggs to be scrambled or cooked medium or over hard. I have been known to get the order and my eggs are over easy. For the price that I am paying, I am okay not eating the eggs or cooking them in the microwave for a bit longer. I dont like runny yellow stuff. Under most circumstances, I choose places that don't leave me hungry. Queen's never disappoint in that department. If all you need is to stop that lunch hunger so you can get back to work (like most of my days), this is the place to go in the area. Food is fairly cheap, large portion, usually quick service, all result in a solid 2 stars. The standard menu is very consistent. Their bbq chicken (as in griddled, not slow cooked barbeque) always taste the same, so is their fried chicken, bbq pork, teri beef, burgers, and fries. If you like any, you will continue to like it. Some items should be avoided though. Their cold ginger chicken is fair but the ginger-green-onion is laddled onto the plate, all the rice at the bottom is soaked in oil. Unless you are into that sort of thing, they become unedible. The New York steak is really just a thin piece of beef. It might have been a steak of some sort but it was never part of a NY strip. Prepare yourself if you are going to try it. Its tasty but it ain't NY anything. The ahi is inconsistent. Some days are really good. Some days are really bad. They are edible even on the bad days, just don't think ahi. The black bean spareribs (when they have it) is more onion than spareribs. The whole plate is drenched in a thick goo. Bleh. I would also avoid the mac salad. Don't get me wrong, I'll continue to go there. At least once a week. But it is an exchange of value, as in volume of food for a price. Not necessarily taste. I got a mix plate of beef stew and orange chicken (the special of the day) for just under $10. Plenty of rice and the container barely closed because of all the chicken pieces and beef stew chunks. I'll probably get two or even three meals' worth from this one 'regular' sized serving. The orange chicken was really good, the sauce was sweet and tangy and I didn't come across any bad pieces. The beef stew's giant carrot piece wasn't cooked all the way through though, which is a pity.
