I brought my orange and green sweater and asked them to remove two stains. They said they would try, but when I picked it up, the stains were still there. Then I brought my Moroccan style pants, and again the stain wasn't removed. They told me it was part of the fabric's stitching and texture! The matching Moroccan shirt from the same set also still had stains at the bottom, and they said they tried but couldn't remove them. Finally, my black men's shirt was returned to me with a small light-brown stain that wasn't there before. Overall, none of the stains on any of my clothes were removed. The service was useless and ineffective. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

I had the following items dry cleaned: 4 sweaters, 2 pairs of pants, 1 dress, and 1 baseball cap. The total was $66.50. They did a great job cleaning my clothes and hat. The dress was $13.50, the price list say $12+, so definitely ask about dress pricing. Overall very satisfied! I look forward to trying their alterations! I give 4.5/5 stars! read more

They fixed and repaired an expensive cycling jersey (Pas Normal) that crashed in for $15. Instead of it ending up in the landfill, they were able to mirror a similar cycling garment that a company repaired after a crash (Velocio). I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a cycling garment repaired. They've also dry cleaned my fiancés wedding guest dressed, cleaned her leather jacket without issue. We've been using new shining cleaners for 2 years now and have had the best laundry/dry cleaning/alteration services of any in SF -we're dog walkers, and she happily washes our dingy dog clothes separate from our 'real people clothes'. -I needed a dress hemmed on the fly and she had it done in 4 HOURS for cheap! (I gave her a fat tip for the fast service) -Joyce is a tiny lady that insists on helping me carry 90lbs of laundry to my car. A great place. A really nice couple runs it, two of the sweetest people. They're very reliable -- I've been going here over four years. They've never lost any piece of clothing, and they're always glad to do extra things like replace a missing/broken button. I once ripped my jeans while riding my bike -- a difficult repair, but the lady who works here did a flawless repair job. If I could give them 4.5 stars, rather than 5, I would, because of one relatively minor gripe -- they sometimes iron my shirts a bit too hot. Over time, this makes the fabric look melted in places like the cuffs and color. Consequently, a shirt that should last a few years looks worn out after two. I wish I could explain this to them, but there's a bit of a language barrier. (They speak some English, I think Cantonese is their primary language, and they speak a bit of Mandarin.) read more

The best decision I ever made in my life was to give Shining Cleaners' laundry service a try (no offense to my boyfriend). I actually don't mind doing laundry and it has always been a zen experience for me to fold clothes, but you know what happens... life. Life just became too busy and it became cumbersome to spend 3-5 hours to do loads of laundry. I think it's approximately $1.20 per pound but worth so much more. For the partner and I, it's usually ~$25 worth of stuff every 3 weeks. That in itself is the cost of detergent, fabric softer, bleach, dryer sheets, water bill and electricity bill. And then let's not forget, our time and energy. We don't have to do anything but swing by a day later, and all our clothes, sheets, towels, etc. are clean and perfectly folded in the same size rectangle like some Nordstrom catalog. Our things are always beautifully cleaned and not crazily scented or chemically. Here's the icing on the cake: not one sock has been lost in the last 2 years! They even put hair-ties I leave in my pockets on top of the pile of clothes. The ladies that work here are so warm, professional, diligent and awesome. read more

The couple who owns this place is really sweet. This is the first time I've done the fluff "n" fold thing, but not the last. They did 55 pounds of laundry for me (including some slipcovers) and three sewing repairs I needed for $50 even. I think it's 90 cents a pound. There's a green zone in front, which makes dropping off and picking up your loads really easy. I love how my clothes came back all folded and wrapped in neat stacks. Once you get over the idea of strangers handling your duds, it's totally worth the time saved and avoiding skeezy laundrymats. read more

I have taken clothes here a few dozen times because they are close to my apartment, I will not bring anything else to them. They take a very long time (six days for four shirts and a pair of pants?!), three times they have not had my clothes ready on the promised day, and they cannot/will not do any rush orders. They do not take cards but didn't have enough change to break a $20 on my last visit. They smile very politely but suck at the dry cleaning thing. I always separate out my laundry (sheets&towels vs regular clothes vs delicate) and they are careful to keep everything separate and follow all of these directions. They are very kind and gracious, always talk to me with a smile and ask how my day is, help me carry the clothes to the car, etc. A little while ago, it seemed a few things were shrinking, so I asked if they could dry my clothes on lower heat, and they obliged--I was really glad to hear they cared about keeping my clothes in good shape! read more

Dry cleaning service was not rendered despite being paid for on more then one occasion. My items were returned to me in exact same condition as they were left for the service. Owners speak poor English and pretend not to speak at all and not to understand you once you try to demand a refund. When service is performed, quality is extremely poor.
