Efficient. Reasonable turnaround time. Sunshine has not only dry cleaned my clothes but has handled alteration projects even beyond clothing. For example I've taken 2 identical tote bags in, both of which have a black inner lining, which makes it quite difficult to see into the bags, quite difficult to ID the bag's contents etc. I figured the bags were unusable but NO! I'm very happy to report that Sunshine has lined both bags with white or light-colored lining, making them usable every day. If you ever find yourself peering into a tote bag, and can't see the contents, take it to Sunshine Cleaners. BTW re: lining cloth -- you probably have the cloth you need in your house somewhere. I provided them with an old pillowcase for Tote Bag Lining Project #1, and with an old light-colored surgical gown for Tote Bag Lining Project #2. read more

Recently brought a few pcs to be dry cleaned. The lady charged me $18.95 for a "long" dress that was knee length. When I questioned the length of the dress she said, "it's silk". When I got home to check the label, the dress was 100% polyester. 2 stars for cleaning the clothes but lost 3 stars for shady pricing. read more

I would not take any items of clothing here that one is attached to, or that one wouldn't be OK with ruining. I have taken several items here where the buttons were broken, the leather was rubbed off the lining, and where the stains that I specifically asked them to remove were not removed. (And, yes, they never fail to charge me full price.) This place is fine for an easy, simple, uncomplicated job where the clothing is cheap or replaceable. Do not take anything here that you value. The worst part is, they accept this level of service. Once when I was taking my husband's shirts to have them cleaned, the woman told me "oh, these shirts usually have their buttons broken." How is this acceptable as a practice? And how do you never offer a reduced price or discount or, at the very least, a sorry when this happens? It's sucks that I can't trust them with my items. More like SUCKshine Cleaners. It's bad enough there's no laundry in my building, I have to be stuck with these punks. First of all, the lady who does the early shift needs to take a class in How Not To Ruin Somebody's Monday Morning With Your Salty Attitude. She practically yelled at me for asking them to sew a tear in my jeans before washing them. "That won't be ready till Friday, you know!?" she screamed at me, "We don't do it here, we send it out." Then maybe you should move the "Expert Alterations" sign a little further away from the "One Day Service" sign, dig? She actually told me to take my jeans elsewhere. I was ready to take all of it elsewhere when she told me that I wouldn't have my slacks back until Friday, either. Five motherfucking days to dry clean some pants?? When you have the facilities on site? Ugh, I don't do PERC anyway so whatever. But they do wash and fold in one day, and I was tied because they're right around the corner from me and I needed some things washed, so I left them my dry cleaning and my wash and fold, against my better judgment. At least wash and fold they can do in one day. So that's something. I knew it would be ready after work, so I busted ass to be there by 6:30. I fell in their door after a dash up the hill from the train, only to find out they're cash only. Would she wait for me to run to the ATM and come back? "No, we closing. Come back tomorrow morning." Super nice local business. I've only gone twice and they already recognize me and bring out my stuff without my having a ticket or anything. The first time I went, it was pretty late in the day and they said "this won't be ready until 3pm day after tomorrow, is that ok?" I was expecting it to be 3 or 4 days like some of the other Wash N fold joints. Here, they're apologizing when it's not by the next day. I actually expected a huge price tag based on other people's reviews and found it to not be unreasonable. Two HUGE bags of laundry for Wash N Fold was $30 which for the convenience and speed is totally worth it. I'm not a huge fan of how they fold the shirts (down the middle) but otherwise, it's a fantastic job. Do keep in mind it's cash only. I forgot today and it was $16.50. I had $16 on me and they were fine with that. I apologized profusely, knowing their margins can't be that big, and promised to pay them back next time. I think the lady was almost amused. I grew up in rural New England, so I'm a sucker for personalized, neighborhood-y attention. This place is wonderful. As far as I'm concerned, the owners are extremely friendly, and certainly go out of their way to make you feel like you're being taken care of... and quite frankly, that's exactly what they do. I understand that some people don't like the fact that they don't accept credit cards. I think we all know by now that businesses get charged a fee for the transaction... the point is that this place is worth it. The service is great. The people are nice, and they do a good job cleaning your clothes. One time, I didn't have enough money (cash) in my pocket, and the lady (I wish I knew her name) told me to simply give it to her the next time. Now that's old-fashioned service and trust that this world could use a little more of. This is what caused me to return to the place (business owners: take note. Being nice to and TRUSTING your customers is the best way to get them to return. It seems as though businesses have forgotten this very simple concept!). I'm very happy with Sunshine Cleaners. I took in 4 huge loads of laundry (no laundry in my building, so it adds up) including a couple of large comforters, and it was only $70. I came home with 4 neatly stacked and very clean blue paper wrapped packages. Sure, I would have spent less to do it myself, but it still would have probably been at least $40 doing it myself, and I would have ruined an entire day doing laundry. Which is something I hate doing. Ever spend any time at a coin laundromat? They are not fun places. Wash 'n fold is the way to go, baby! Getting your clothes all neatly bundled and wrapped and saving the time and energy at the laundromat was worth it. The rating is for their hours. I thought they were open until 6:30pm, but that's only certain days (M,W,F)? I couldn't tell you because the sign on their door is faded and there's no answering machine when you call their phone number. This place is just average, and there are several other choices in the neighborhood. Pros: the workers are very nice, they deliver as promised Cons: Cash only. I know it is San Francisco but cash only places should be reserved for food, hipster hangouts and adult beverage establishments. They write in permanent marker your "code" on the tag of your shirts. Really? I feel like a kid a summer camp is there not a better way to keep track of stiff shirts without marking them in black ink? They need larger equipment, for those taller than average folks that don't appreciate a huge crease in their shirts just above the waistline, this isn't the place for you. I had to re-iron all of my shirts before wearing them to avoid a large line at my belly button. Iron the whole shirt, not just the portion that fits into your machine. Despite the close location and very nice service, I make the trip down to 10th and Irving where they have an appropriate tracking system, a computer to store your preferences (light starch etc.) and Visa is their friend. read more

These are some of the biggest scam artists in the inner Sunset. I called about the price to have a lab coat presses, it was already washed. On the phone they quoted me a price of $10.50 when I came to the location to drop off I was told the price was $12 each. When I called the woman out, and told her that she gave me a lower price on the phone she changed the price back to $10.50. I also dropped off some items for wash and fold and asked about the price, I was quoted a price. When I went to pick up my items a thin blanket and one set of sheets the price was $68. When I said this was not what I was quoted. They claimed that "blankets cost more". I told the woman in the store that she should inform customers of that in advance, Because I would not have brought my items here for that price. She said "well, not my problem" I will never go here ever again. read more

I had an evening gown for a holiday party that was just about 1.5 inches too long, even with very high heels, the lady at the front desk was super cool, the dress was really complex with delicate layers on the bottom, but the taylor did an awesome job, they even called me before working on it to make sure I was ok with the price (which was higher than normal due to multiple cascading parts on the dress). Great dry cleaner, although a little on the pricey side. Sorry to hear that some have had bad experiences with these folks, but they've always been super nice to me. In fact they kept the place open for me just as they were closing up one Friday evening (the husband even went to go stand outside to watch my son in the car as I paid and got my cleaning!). They're always super friendly, know me by name - most of the time they have my cleaning in hand by the time I get out of my car and come in the door! It's great! **As for the no credit card - businesses get charged anywhere from 1.75%-3.5% of total bill by the credit card processing companies, plus a flat per transaction fee. So, for many low margin business (not sure what the world of dry cleaning/laundry mark up is) it get's super expensive. If you think that on a $15 ticket that they could pay up to $.65 just to have it processed (that's 4%) - that's a big chunk of profit and adds up to some serious cash for a years worth of transactions. Anyway, I don't know if that's why they do it - but that's what I just assumed. (And yes, it really did kind of stun me the first time I went in! i have used this place for over 20 yeats. this used to be the place i trusted most. they used to do a good job with my stuff and good friendly service. ok here it comes. 2 month ago a very expensive pair of pants from nordy's came back with uncleanable stain which i don't remember being there when i took it in. ok my over site? next i got back back one of my favorite shirts back with bleach stain on the pocket. ok i don't remember that! finally a week ago my zegna shirt ($250 at nordy") comes back with the neck so worn it almost at holes in it. ok definately not my over site. i have only worn this shirt 2x's and checked it thouroghly before droping it off. i ned a new dry cleaners people please help. i gave them 2 stars and not one because the people are super nice but unfortuneately there work took a huge change for the worst read more

Beware of Sunshine Cleaners! I picked up a pair of pants that had been worn once and taken in for dry cleaning. They had shrunk 1 1/2 inches in length! The woman who works in the shop denied that Sunshine Cleaners could have possibly been responsible and refused any liability. They must have washed the pants instead of dry cleaning as a second pair, same brand, same material, just a different color was fine. Such poor customer service to accept no liability for damage that the shop had clearly caused. I will not be going back to this cleaner. Never, ever!! read more

My horrible experience at Sunshine Cleaners just inspired me to join Yelp and write a review. I brought in my favorite dress for dry cleaning. It was returned stretched out with torn stitching. After I pointed out the damage, the woman at the counter started yelling at me. Trying to reason with her (asking for a discount) didn't work. She suggested I take her to small claims court. At one point she ripped the dress out of my hands and demanded that I pay cash or wouldn't give the dress back. Worst customer service experience of my life. read more

My family and I have been customers of Sunshine Cleaners on 9th Avenue in the Inner Sunset for more than 20 years and have always been satisfied with the fine level of work and service performed by Michelle, her husband and other staff. The rates for services performed are reasonable. The clothing I bring in for dry cleaning or laundry is always done on time, is either hung or folded as per my request, the items look great when I pick them up and I am always greeted by name and with a smile. If for some reason I need to have the item cleaned and finished in a short number of days, my "rush" request is usually accommodated. I still haven't gotten over the pure decadence of having someone else do your laundry for you, nor the beautiful blue packages that it returns to you in, everything perfectly folded. That said, I think this place is probably about average. I've noticed that my clothes are a little more worn than normal, but I think that's just the deal with getting your clothes washed in those industrial machines. The woman is pretty nice, although she was annoyed that I asked for my clothes to be washed on cold. I'm pretty sure they don't do that.
