This place is fantastic! I've only been taking my dry cleaning here for the past three months, but I have zero complaints up to this point. My clothing always comes back looking great, and I usually have it back in two days. The only exception is one leather item that I've brought in (a dress with a significant amount of leather paneling), which needs a special type of cleaner. They only receive this cleaner once a week, so leather items may have a slower turnaround time (and cost more to be cleaned). They let you know in advance though! Random note: The only time I can bring my dry cleaning in is before work, so the location of this place is clutch (only if you live in the area, obviously). I work in Midtown West, so I can hop on the 2/3 immediately after dropping off my dry cleaning in the morning. To the reviewer who mentioned mandatory pre-paying: that hasn't been my experience. I pre-pay myself, but it's completely voluntary. The first time I took my dry cleaning here they actually seemed surprised that I wanted to pay beforehand. Who knows! read more

Well, the pictures say it all. My favorite floral silk shirt went from blues, reds, greens, yellows to washed out grays and pinkish-reds only. How could any professional dry cleaner have results like this? It looks like they washed it in bleach a few times then left it in the sun. Texture feels thinner, more threadbare. I had a good experience here cropping my blackout shades and decided to give them a chance since its such a sad, airless, subterranean tiny shop and I felt sorry for them. Maybe just stick to the tailor services and avoid the dry cleaning of anything you care about. read more

Brought in a suit for dry cleaning- jacket had stain- got it back next day- stain gone, but jacket button came off when I tried it on at home. To be fair, it may have been loose before taking it for cleaning. I ran back because I needed to wear suit for an event the next day- and they put button back on within an hour and wouldn't take any more of my money. Nice ladies, class acts. Mr. Soon and his wife own this tobbler shop (meaning they don't do the laundry, they are the middleman/woman for other places that do) that just happen to be across the street from the first place I lived in New York. My roommates at the time said not to go there, that they would lose or damage my clothes and that they'd make excuses when things weren't done on time. Thank goodness for my laziness as I gave them a shot anyway and never had a problem. They always made the extra effort to get my laundry (which I inevitably turned in after 9:30) done the same day and usually turned wash/press jobs on my dress shirts back the next day. She did a great job doing any alterations I needed and they never seemed exorbitant in charging me for any work I had done. The only downside is that they close at 7 on weeknights and are closed on Sunday. Inevitably I'd drop off my laundry on Friday morning and not get it back 'til Monday 'cause I couldn't make it in during the weekend. They deliver, but it's usually Mr. Soon or his wife and that always made me feel bad, so I just went and picked it up. read more

Shiny Dry Cleaners are great- I always bring all my dry cleaning here and get my alterations done and everything is done at a very reasonable price and with a very quick turn around time. I some how put a lot of holes in my sweaters and they have been able to fix everything and make it look just like new. I highly suggest them if you live in the neighborhood! read more

this is for wash and fold service only! TL;DR stinky clothes, nothing seemed like it was actually clean, one piece of clothing was physically damaged with grey marks and holes, and it took more than a day. I'm looking for a regular place in my neighborhood to drop my laundry since my building does not have those services. unfortunately this will not be my go to place. when I got my clothes back it did not smell at all of detergent - in fact everything smelled a bit sour, as though it was washed without detergent. more importantly, nothing was even clean. I have light colored trousers that were dirty on the back of the calves due to walking on wet, dirty surfaces. those spots were still there even though a normal wash should have easily taken care of that. not only that, I dropped it off early in the morning and I was told it would not be ready until next day after 5p. three strikes and you're out. EDIT! make that four strikes I went to put on one of the items I took to be washed - a brand, new bra - and it looked like it went through a garbage disposal. a brand new bra and it has grey marks on it like it got stuck in some machinery, and there are several holes too! this is like a $40 bra that I had less than two weeks and it is ruined. I only gave one star because I can't take away from the stars this place already has (wrongfully has might I add). after taking some clothes of mine and my partner to wash, the clothes were ruined. faded colors, broken buttons, and not even clean. the collar on my white shirt was brown.. and they call themselves dry cleaning. this is more like dry ruining. It's one thing not to do your job well, but it's another when you become completely rude and obnoxious. In my book, the customer's complaint should not be met with disrespect, aggression, and yelling! long story short, if you care about your garment and your self respect, stay as far away from this place as possible. read more

My experience has to do with tailoring - I brought in a peacoat to reline. Estimated timeline was 15 days - a little longer than I would have liked, but fine. I go in a day after their quoted day, and I get blank stares that the jacket isn't ready and to come back the next day at 5pm. Has the coat been started? Or are they just starting now that I was there to pick up? No answers. I show up the next day in the evening (just now), allowing plenty of time to finish and deliver, and am given excuses that the driver is stuck in traffic and it will be another hour, and can I come back? This is so annoying and unprofessional. It's another 2 days tacked onto an already 2-week long job. I am not confident that when I try for the THIRD pickup my coat will actually be ready. This was my first time at this location and I can't say I'm impressed, nor will I do any return business here. read more

They ruined my favorite silk shirt, and I have no idea how it was even possible to make holes. Dress came back with stains on it which I later easily removed with ordinary stain remover. Clothes were not ironed properly. Moreover, they don't deliver or pick-up if it is further than 2-3 blocks. So it was my first and last time I used their services. This time... I was amazed. I had a really nice winter 100% wool coat which I have being wearing for the past 5 years. However, I found there's a huge whole in the back of my coat... I came here wishing they can at least make the who less invisible.... BUT I can't find where my original damage is when I get my coat back. It looks like a brand new coat again. They did such a managing job.. tailoring, change of high quality lining, and dry clean comes $80 total. Great price here in upper west. Would def coming back again. read more

With so many laundromats closing on the UWS I went hunting on Yelp for a new place to drop off my standard items... bedding, towels, basic clothes. I hate to leave a poor review when we can't afford to lose more UWS laundry services but please please let this be a low point they bounce back from. I dropped off on a weekday and rushed over to pick up before they closed on Friday only to discover they closed 20 minutes early. I figured it's a small place and I let it slide. I pick up my laundry the next day and bring my items home. I open the bag and tear through the plastic. Everything stinks. My laundry doesn't smell clean. It's disgusting. I think they soaked my items in used dirty water and then put them through the dryer. I have to go and get everything rewashed all over again. I don't want to sleep on the sheets- they might give me a rash or something. I guess it's back to the other place that is only a little sketchy but at least they return my items clean when they do return them. read more

Great service and good dry cleaning. However 3 stars due to the prices. They literally charge an arm and a leg if you want to dry clean something with a lining. It is almost double the price whether the lining is attached or unattached to the item. For example, cost to dry clean one dress would be 10-12 and then with an attached or unattached lining, it turns into almost $20. Seems a little ridiculous, I took my dress to Tower West Cleaners close to westside market who charged me $12 for a dress with lining. read more

They charged me more than what they post in their shop, but that's fine. My negative experience was that I had them dry clean a gown with sequins on it. I know sequins can be iffy sometimes, but the sequins were completely gone off my dress when I picked it up. I wasn't mean or rude I don't think. I only brought it to their attention and asked if there was anything they could do--their business is dry cleaning, so I would have thought they would have told me they might have an issue with the sequins before accepting it, so maybe I would not have dry cleaned it. When I asked for money back, the owners literally, actually, laughed in my face. I could've let the bad experience go, things happen, but it is pretty upsetting to have a bad experience made worse when the store owners are completely dismissive and laughing at you. read more

I came in here as I needed the lining of my All Saints jacket replaced, pocket fixed and coat cleaned. In mid town, I got a few quotes for all of the above for $275.00 and up, New Shiny Dry Cleaners completed all of the above for $95.00. To say they did a great job is an understatement, the coat was impeccably cleaned, it looks better than brand new...the lining and new pocket are better than what was there originally and looks like it is all original and never was replaced. The work is quality and impeccable, no short cuts taken with great attention to detail. I never write reviews, but had to say something because my experience was so horrible. It took me a full week to get my clothes back even though they had agreed to same day drop-off. The clothes came back all smelling terrible, as if they had been put in the bag while wet and left there all week. I was charged the rather expensive same-day rate for my now dirtier laundry, and yelled at when I asked them to negotiate a more reasonable price. I went here because of the positive Yelp-reviews. I brought a bunch of dresses and blouses and blazers and am sorry to say that the place did not live up to my expectations. They looked clean enough but the items that smelled of sweat when I went here smelled even worse when I got them back and the under arm stains on one of my blouses were even more visible, it was almost as it they were "burned-in" to the blouse. I will now have to throw that one away. For basic cleaning with no particular stains or smells this place might be fine but I wouldn't go again. read more

I went to this dry cleaner after just purchasing 3 new sweaters. These were very nice brands of sweaters made of quality material. I took them to this dry cleaners and asked for them all to be dry cleaned. One came back and had shrunk a very significant amount. I went in and very politely explained that they had clearly shrunk my sweater. All he kept telling me was that this dry cleaners doesn't shrink clothing and then did not offer me any compensation or anything. Meanwhile, I had to buy a new shirt. My theory is they washed the shirt on accident and then will not take responsibility. Either way, they shrunk the shirt and I will not be returning. read more
