I have been going to Dr. Kasanoff for 40 years. I began seeing Dr. David's dad, who was a wonderful doctor and man. He and his son worked together for a very long while. When I needed to transfer to Dr. David it was an easy transfer. He has been prompt and accurate with all the tests that need to be done, I don't have easy eyes. This place is amazing! I called about getting an eye exam for my three year old son. They were booked two weeks out. Jessica could tell I was concerned about my son's vision and she was kind enough to fit us in at the end of the day. I found NewView Optometric Center about 6 years ago, maybe even longer. I started with the location because they are one of the only places I could find that offers Saturday Appointments. The staff is just amazing and have become friends. "Dr. David" (the staff calls him that as his father used to work the shop too) is the best, down to earth, no nonsense guy. Jessica and Nancy work the front and will make you feel like your at home. They never try to upsell you anything, they work with your insurance to get you the best possible pricing and deals. Our dog, a 100 pound Alaskan Malamute is welcome to come to our appointments too! Last week I broke my frames on my two year old glasses, Jessica worked and found me a identical set of frames to replace the broken ones, and if she could not, they have a repair shop that can weld the frames back together if needed! 5 Stars is not enough for you guy, you get 11 out of 5 in my book! Dr. David and the entire staff are great - extremely friendly, personable and very knowledgeable. I had a great optometrist before this, but Dr. David is even better! My contacts are always perfect and the type he recommended feel extremely comfortable (I don't even realize I'm wearing them). He's very thorough and my glass prescription has been much improved since I started going to him. I have a very large difference between my right eye and my left eye which causes a lot of issues when you get around to ordering glasses to wear in place of the contacts. I was recommended by a good friend and was never so happy with a recommendation!! The front staff are very conscious of the cost associated with contacts, glasses, insurance, etc. and are always willing to work with me to figure out which option works best for what I need. And I love the option they offer to automatically schedule the next year's appointment - just one more thing I don't have to worry about! read more

I have been coming here for annual eye exams for about four or five years now and have been very happy with the thoroughness of my exams and the great patient care that I receive. Dr. Kasanoff and his staff work as a great team and my annual exam is fully covered by my insurance which is whatever vision plan Medicare offers to Southern Californian residents. I also require an additional, I'll just call it "super special exam" since I take a certain medication to manage my R.A. and it is a minimal additional fee (good luck getting any insurance plan to cover it although of course always check!) but how can one not pay for something that could diagnose a serious issue with something as important as one's eyesight?! When I purchased my glasses here three years ago I also really appreciated the help I received when selecting frames. I absolutely love them to this day and fortunately my prescription has not changed enough to warrant new lenses but should it have, I would have kept my existing frames and just updated the lenses since the frames still fit my face and personality so well. While Costco offers frames cheap, they often times lack in style (I don't feel this way as much when it comes to men's frames so I am mostly referring to women's styles) so definitely consider buying from this office since glasses really are another fashion accessory. Finally, parking is free and abundant and this office always runs right on schedule. If you live in the La Mesa/College area, I highly recommend this office for all of your eye care needs. read more

After a terrible experience we quickly changed our minds...straight back to Dr. David we went. Not only is he kind, compassionate and knowledgeable, he truly cares about his patients. But, wait. That's not all you get. His staff is out of this world amazing! I had ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses, i was leaving on vacation in a week. They day before i was leaving my sunglasses were not ready. . Jessica went to the lab herself (on a Saturday) rushed my prescription and personally delivered them to me!! Started my appointment right on time and were efficient yet explained what was going on in an understandable way. I found New View Optometric on Yelp based off the reviews and their rating. Also, what led me to them was my prior optometrist that I had an appointment scheduled with in a month in advance called me a day a before my appointment and told me they had to cancel my contact lens portion of my appointment and would have to reschedule, of course frustrated and disappointed this led me to seek other options so happy I did. I called New View Optometric spoke to Nancy she was so pleasant and very honest and up front with their pricing and also they were able to accommodate and gave me the exact appointment time that I had at my other appointment which was convenient for my schedule. When I arrived as a new patient I was greeted by Jess and and Nancy explained the paperwork and everything. Jess did the first part of the exam and Dr. Kasanoff did the rest. They're so nice and great customer service. I really appreciate the way Dr. Kasanoff takes his time to explain concisely and and answer all of your questions. The office atmosphere is extremely clean, warm and inviting, excellent customer service and professionalism. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner, and the plus is they are a provider under my vision insurance, this is my new Optometrist from here on out they deserve all the 5 stars and then some read more
