They operate right off of the North Myrtle Beach shore. They work like a well oiled machine. the staff there is very friendly. The woman that took my appointment, the guy that drove the banana boat shuttle, the boat captain Derek, the boats first mate and the banana boat recovery crew were all awesome. They could not have made the experience any better. We had a group of 6 that wanted to go parasailing and were able to get an appoint less than 2 hours from our call. They have a big blue tent set up on the beach for you to check-in, and they have beach chairs and umbrellas set up right on the beach for you to wait. We went on a semi rough surf day. Other parasail boats had packed up for the day. But not them. What is even cooler about them is that you have to take a banana boat ride to and from the parasail boat. The ride was very cool in the rough surf. You can parasail solo, double up or as a trio. We opted to do 3 doubles. They take photos of your flight, that they can transfer directly to your phone (for an additional fee). One of the members of my party got a little motion sick. The boat crew was very supportive and helpful with getting them through the exodus of their breakfast. At the end of your flight, they dip you in the water. Once you are return to the beach via the banana boat, you take off your life jacket and view your photos, that you can purchase.

I did parasailing on today (4/18/21) for my 24th birthday. I called in the morning around 10/11 and made a reservation for 3:30pm. Upon arrival, you walk on the beach, sign the waiver, put your items in a bucket, get a life jacket, and then wait. To get to the parasail boat, you have to take a ride on a banana boat. This was cool. I enjoyed it. The banana boat is driven by a guy on the jet ski. Once you're on the boat, you wait your turn and they get everything ready for you. There is a guy who takes pictures of you during the parasail. You then can buy them (for $30) afterward. They are sent to your phone via airdrop. If you don't have an iPhone, you get the SD card. I think $30 is pretty expensive, especially for digital photos. I think $10 would be more appropriate, if anything. I honestly think that since it cost $60, they should be included. Another issue I had was that I was told airtime is about 10 minutes... it was only about 6-7 mins. Airtime was important In my decision. Other companies said 10-12 mins but they cost a bit more. Once in the air, it's honestly smooth sailing. You get dipped in the water right before the ride is over. If you are in the air and look down, all you see is jellyfish! I was told that they don't/won't sting you, but I was still nervous about that. Overall, This was my first time and I enjoyed it. It really wasn't bad. I was mostly scared because I saw and finished the show "Who Killed Sara?" on Netflix a few days ago... The best part was that I got to do it twice! A guy didn't have anyone to go with (as there must be 2 people) and they let me go with him free of charge. I just wished each ride was 10 mins, as I was told, and that the digital pictures didn't cost so much! As an added note, you can do just the banana boat for $20. I talked to a few people who did it and they said they liked it.

Had such a great experience with New Wave Watersports. It was easy to book everybody was so nice. And everything from beginning to end lwas so much fun. You can tell they all love their job. We got a lot of great photos. It was so worth it. I never buy pictures from the places that take but we had a great captain and photographer, apparently.!!

Would 100% recommend this company if you are looking for a fun adventure while on vacation. We booked a parasailing trip through them and had a great time. The workers are professional, thorough and dedicated to making sure you have a wonderful experience. An added bonus, they document your adventure by taking pictures and then airdrop them to you after purchasing. I would recommend purchasing the pictures, as you can't safely take your cell phone with you to document your memories. Parking: park right next to the Irish pub. The location of Watersports is behind the pub. You'll see a tent where you will sign wavers and get appropriate safety instructions.

Two of us went together, one of us has parasailed before and one was a first time experience. For someone who has gone parasailing before, this is a little overpriced as we paid $70 per person and the ride was only about 6 minutes. (We did time some of the people parasailing before we made our reservation so we knew ahead of time how long it would last) For someone who's never done it before, it's worth it for that once in a lifetime experience. They took about 30 photos which we purchased the sd card for $35. Staff was excellent and everything was done in a timely manner, very little wait time with our reservation.

This was a fantastic experience! The staff and crew were excellent at giving directions and explaining everything. We reserved space on Monday, but they were cancelled due to high winds. So, we reschedule for Tuesday. As soon as we arrive on the beach, we checked in, paid, picked out our life jackets and hopped on the banana boat. The banana boat brought us out to the speedboat where we hopped in; as soon as the other family was on the banana boat we were in the harnesses and in the air. The crew was friendly, polite and ensured all safety measures were taken. We came back in and back onto the banana boat and off to shore. They were efficient and professional. It's a definite must when in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

2nd time parasailing in myrtle. First time was with another company and had a horrible experience - we had reservations and still had to wait on the beach with no shade for 35-40 mins and then only got to parasail for about 4-5 mins. This year we went with new wave watersports, and what a difference. the website/online reservation was a breeze and accepted apple pay for convenience. We arrived on-time and checkin was smooth we were told to wait by the water to keep us cool. About 5 mins later they called our number and we were taken to the boat. The captain and mate were nice and took pictures of everything. We got to parasail for about 10-12 mins. Checking out, they offer all the pics for a fee and airdrop them right to your phone (attached just one). We were all done within 60 mins and back on the beach at our condo enjoying the rest of our day. Turn key operation...dont look elsewhere.

Everyone in our party of 6 had a great time. The ride out and back was fun! I am afraid of heights but this didn't bother me in the least. The ride on the boat did make me motion sick. Alan and John were amazing and kind. All the folks at check in were fabulous. We would absolutely come back and do this again and recommend this place to our friends and family. Thank you so much for an amazing morning!

up in the air

My boyfriend and I went parasailing. The check in and preparing process was amazing, fast and easy! Most definitely worth the money and your time! It was a great time & they took amazing pictures. You take a banana boat pulled by a jet ski out to the boat, load the boat, get hooked up, and then parasail! The banana boat ride is a little more rough depending upon the weather but it makes for a fun ride! Highly recommend going to New Wave Watersports & going parasailing!

What a Total watersport experience. We started with a Sailboat Ride the first day. Captain Jake…read morewas an experienced sailor and made the ride really fun and wet. He was a pleasure to talk with and had a lot of great recommendations for other activities at Downwind Sails as well as other Myrtle Beach locations. We decided to parasail on day two. I have parasailed in a lot of other destinations, but this is the most professional and safety conscious crew that still know how to make it FUN. Not to mention, you get a free banana boat ride to and from the Parasail boat. Will definitely be back for more.

We arrived at around 1:45pm hoping to be able to book for a 2pm slot and thankfully, they were super accommodating. Once we signed our waivers, we paid the parasailing fee ($98pp after tax) and the additional photo fee which was $30. After we dropped off all of our belongings at the Reservation Area, we were directed to the beach to grab our life vests. With it being Mid June, the sand was very hot but once we got to the water, we were fine. What we were unaware of was the banana boat that we had to take to get to the parasailing boat. It was definitely a pleasant surprise but a fun experience nonetheless. Once we arrived to the parasailing boat, the guys were extremely helpful and informative. They hooked us up to the harnesses and gave us a quick rundown of the rules. Parasailing was, by far, one of the most breathtaking and invigorating experiences I've ever had! I absolutely loved it and it was quite peaceful. Unfortunately, my friend did get queasy after a while so we had to cut our ride a bit short but the guys were very nice and made sure to give my friend some water until the other couple finished their ride. The rides lasted maybe 8-10 mins. If you're planning to visit Myrtle Beach or even live in the area, definitely check out Downwind Sails Watersports. There are height and weight restrictions so definitely check out their site for all the details but the staff were wonderful and the parasailing was amazing!

Captain Richard even calmed their nerves before going parasailing! It seems like most of the complaints on here are based on people trying to sit/swim in the area of the beach that's designated with signs for them to load and unload people onto the boats for parasailing and banana boating. This is a safety issue as you could get hit by a sea doo while they pick up and drop off. Kind of seems like common sense. Not sure why people are upset about their kids not being allowed to swim/play in this area, as it would be very dangerous. If you're in the area, you should definitely give this place a call. You won't regret it!

Went out to meet the actual boat, saw the previous group still in the sky. Turned around and went back to shore. Turned around and started heading back out. Suddenly told the mate on the boat was sick so we would not be going up. Staff acted as if this was somehow amusing, shrugged and laughed. Asked for a refund and left. An hour later, we see the same company up and running. Called and asked why we were not given the chance to wait and go up with new crew. Just plain rude response from person on phone. Told I could talk to the manager "later". When the manager called me back much later, his rudeness was even worse. I asked why my refund was only partial. He finally agreed he would refund the "nonrefundable" portion as I pointed out THEY were the ones who cancelled our trip. Then hung up on me. So much wrong with this scenario, almost all of which could have been fixed with a SIMPLE, SINCERE APOLOGY. Good customer service is important! I never write negative reviews and always believe in giving a business a chance to make things right. Epic fail here. Do better!
