I wanted cheese curds today. Specifically today, because the greatest place on Earth, AJ Bombers,…read morehas sadly met its demise. I found myself in Holland at dinnertime and asked Yelp where to find curds. Yelp has delivered. Goog's is an intriguing place. It's attached to a meat market. One of the menu options is to pick a steak from next door and they'll prepare it for you, which is honestly a good deal. Their whole menu is a good deal, honestly, for the quality and quantity you get. The cheese curds satisfied my craving - okay, admittedly, many of them were monterey jack squares, but I didn't want to push them and ask for "all curds" - and they were willing to sub queso dip for the standard ranch. Very nice of them! After that, I was rather full but wanted some nutrition. They prepared a side salad, which isn't on the menu at all - your standard lettuce/tomato/cuke/etc. Again, generous portion at a good price, and very nice of them. Other perks: rotating root beer of the month if you don't want to drink, a ton of customizable burgers. Goog's is really customer-oriented and they want to work with you to get you exactly what you're looking for. Doesn't get more 5-star than that!

Because of her caring attitude, I have bumped up my rating from 3 stars to 4. The atmosphere and vibe is really fun with funky artwork and bright colors everywhere. It's a little noisy but not uncomfortably so, it feels maybe more lively than noisy. The menu was good and varied and I think you'd be hard-pressed not to find something for everyone in your group. We were a group of four and split an appetizer sampler. I enjoyed a local pilsner with my meal as the beer menu was good with a lot to choose from. Our server unfortunately was horrible and developed an attitude with us during our meal when we apparently had the audacity to ask for our waters to be refilled and one of our party received the wrong food item and asked for the one she ordered. After that, the server was snippy and short with us which was a shame on both parts because our experience was hampered and her tip reflected that. The food in general was good but not excellent. I would have given the place 4 stars for the logo (awesome), the vibe and the food but the server knocked a star off. Still worth a visit if you're in Holland especially if you're with a group with varied tastes and picky eaters.

The menu is very robust with a balance of flavor fusion and fan favs. The Bacon Jam Session was fantastic, and I highly recommend this to a friend. The peanut butter aioli ties the bacon jam together nicely. The buffalo Mac was pretty good, but the truffle fries were a highlight. The seasoning really made the meal. The service was not stellar. We were seated outside and our server made very minimal effort to come out and see us. She was quickly rushing off before we could ask a question or make a request. I felt like we must have been a bother at 8:00 pm on a Friday.

However, the reviews were good so we ventured in... and I'm glad we did as the inside is extremely inviting and the food was great! First of all - there's a kid's waiting area with snacks!! What an amazing idea! We sat quickly and ordered. I had the salmon entree - which was not the prettiest looking plate but wow, was it good! Cooked well and the vegetables that were steamed on the side were perfectly cooked also. Burgers looked good and everyone ate swiftly so I assume everyone's meals were delicious. Service was friendly and swift (but didn't rush us) and this spot even had clean bathrooms (which is a huge plus for a restaurant). Price is reasonable especially for the portion sizes. So, ignore the location and the look of the outside (they also have speakers playing horse sounds outside...) and head in for a delicious and friendly meal.

The service was excellent -- perfectly timed, without a single unnecessary wait. The prices felt very reasonable for the quality and level of the restaurant. I usually love to finish a great dinner with dessert, and since the food was so good, I skipped appetizers and saved room. The four of us tried all three desserts on the menu. Given how impressed I was with the food, I expected a little more from the desserts. They were good, but for me, they didn't quite reach the same level as the rest of the meal. Overall, Seventy-Six is a wonderful, atmospheric restaurant that made our trip to Holland even more enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend it.

Our waitress was really nice and overall service was quick. We ordered the Lemon Chicken and the Wedge Salad. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is mainly because of the chicken dish. I was expecting it to be more citrusy, but I feel like whatever lemon flavor it was meant to have was lost by some sort of sweetness. I think the Meyer lemon butter made the dish was so oddly sweet it mixed in with the rice underneath. Overall, this dish was sadly disappointing since we were looking forward to something savory and herby but got what felt like a sugar bomb for chicken. The salad was good and loaded with toppings, however, I felt like there was way too much dressing that drowned the salad once it was all mixed. If possible, I would get the dressing on the side. All in all, great ambiance, good service and a wonderful location. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong things. Still worth checking out, if you're in the area!

I've been here with small groups and large groups and we have always received great service. The menu states that since everything is made from scratch it might take up to an hour to get your food but it has never taken that long when we have been here. On this visit we started with two orders of nachos, requesting no meat in one order. The nachos here are seriously my favorite that I have ever had from any restaurant. Ingredients include roasted corn, black beans,, red onion, cheese, lettuce, pico, cilantro, and lime chipotle cream, and choice of meats. We ordered ground beef on one order and the other meatless. After the nachos we ordered a Fun Guy pizza and a burrito, which was huge! We all shared the pizza and burrito. We enjoyed goat cheese cheesecake for dessert. It was wonderful. This place always has the best food of any bar I ever go to. A must try when you are in Holland.

All reservations were booked out for weeks when we had checked, but we showed up at opening and it sort of worked out. Let me explain.. A lot of other families had the same idea. Show up early, get in, get the kids fed early. It made for a line to check in at the host stand that looked concerning but it wasn't a crazy wait, ultimately. About 30 minutes. We still got what we wanted, a nice seat overlooking the water. One thing I'll say in that regard was there was a HUGE upfront rush, but then around 6:30 or so, the place had emptied out quite a bit. Might be useful knowledge if trying to time an entry here. ANYWAYS. The food. Phenomenal. So good. I stuck with standard fried chicken (ie not Nashville, not spicy) and it was amazing. Salty, well brined, flavorful. It even held up amazingly well cold out of the fridge the next day. Some of the best fried chicken I've had in years. The fries were insanely good as well. The greens (one of the side choices) were not my thing as they didn't have a lot of flavor. The only miss of the evening. My oldest enjoyed her burger, and my youngest thought the chicken was too spicy (read: peppery) but they've been uber picky lately so take that with a grain of salt (or pepper). Had a lovely cocktail here as well, called the Sunday Christian: Gin, Cocchi Americano, Bianco Vermouth, and orange bitters. I'm realizing I have failed you all but forgetting to mention the most glorious, buttery, flaky biscuit that comes with the fried chicken meal. It was a star of the show, and the only reason I'm just now mentioning it is that I ate it so quickly it disappeared into my memories. Wonderful place, and I'm sure we will go back next time in Saugatuck.
