We also sampled a variety of drinks. I liked the "Wish I Was on an Island" best. Our group of 5 ordered several entrées: Walleye sandwich, Great Lakes Walleye, Farmhouse pizza, and turkey club. Our sides included asparagus (our favorite!) and fries, which were seasoned just right. All the food was excellent. We shared and sampled and enjoyed everything. My favorite was the walleye, and I would definitely order it again. The atmosphere is wonderful, with beautiful views of the lake. Although we dined inside on this visit outside dining is enjoyable as well. The music selection was perfect! We all commented on it and the volume was just right. Loud enough to be enjoyed but still conversation-friendly. Boatwerks is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant. Whether we are sitting at the bar for appetizers and drinks, or enjoying dinner we have never had a food or drink that we haven't loved. Food presentation is attractive. And service is always excellent, especially at the bar.

We ordered the Mexican street corn Mahi which was surprisingly excellent, the Sun-dried tomato pesto chicken, also excellent, and side salads. Once we were seated, we ordered our drinks and our starter, some garlic cheese bites. It came with marinara and ranch dressing on the side. Really good and garlicky flavor. Excellent way to start our dinner! However, that was the best part of our dinner. I ordered the Mexican street corn Mahi and upgraded one of my sides to the grilled zucchini (+$2) and had the creamy chicken soup. The soup was good, no complaints really. It was as advertised but my fish didn't have much seasoning and the spicy mango aoili was just a sweet sauce that didn't really taste like mango. I got about 5 thinly sliced grilled zucchini that also didn't taste seasoned. My husband had the perch. He said it was okay. Neither of us was super impressed. Our server was nice and attentive but we didn't get any water brought to the table, just the adult beverage we ordered. Overall, the place seemed promising, had a nice decor and was clean and spacious.

If you want to find a place to try with friends, family, or a date, this is a pretty cool place to try out! There are pretty good options for food on their menu. The dishes that have borders around them are what the chefs recommend. Me and my friend decided to go that route. Warm Goat Cheese - really good! It had a really thick and gooey texture, and I felt with the warmth it added to the deliciousness to it. It really is a comforting dish to try out. I thought the Spanish tomato sauce really complimented to the warm goat cheese. They offer 6 pieces of bread; if you need more, they will give you more! Smoked Chicken Empanadas - this dish was pretty good. The shell was very crispy, but the chicken inside was actually pretty dry, to my surprise. The salsa tasted good though, and I really loved the red pepper cream. Beautiful dish though! I don't think I'd get it again though. I do prefer my empanadas slightly on the softer side. Garlic Shrimp Adobado - this was probably my favorite dish. My friend thought it was a little too strong with garlic, but what else would you expect with "roasted garlic, confit garlic butter, garlic chips" as the description?? I personally didn't find it too garlic-y. I loved it and would recommend it. It was flavorful and I loved the soft cloves of garlic. It wasn't too heavy of a dish. Smoked Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates - this was also one of my other favorites. If you're getting this dish with other ones, my suggestion is to eat this last because the dates are naturally pretty sweet which almost make it feel like you're eating a dessert dish. The bacon was sooo good and cooked so well with the dates. Super decadent dish and unique! If you are not familiar with tapas style, the front of the menu talks about tapas and the communal aspect of it. I loved that they did it! True to tapas style, the restaurant can serve you one to two dishes at a time, which I would recommend. The service was great. Super friendly and warm. On the slower side, but I think it was just because it was pretty busy that night.

If you have a family, do not even bother. This place is NOT family friendly…read more We arrived with our two children and infant and were told we couldn't bring our stroller onto the deck, so we went back to the car and carried our baby in the car seat instead. Yet we immediately saw another family dining with a stroller, and on our way out there was literally a lineup of strollers near the entrance. There also isn't a changing table, so I had to go back to the car just to change our infant. The food was equally disappointing and extremely overpriced. The calamari portion was tiny, my fish was soggy with the batter falling off and cold fries, and my daughter's sweet-and-sour chicken was mostly batter. My husband ordered a 20-ounce ribeye well done and received what was essentially a medium-rare steak. Our server, Jordan, brought the issue to the manager, Amanda, who only discounted the improperly cooked steak by 50%. When my husband asked to speak with Amanda, we were told she was "too busy" to come to our table. Jordan even commented that there were "a bunch of high schoolers in the kitchen." For the prices they charge, the food, service, and management were incredibly disappointing. Easily one of the worst dining experiences we've had. We will not be back.
