I loved the classy with a hint of casual vibe at this restaurant. It's cool to have a good tapas place here in Holland. If you want to find a place to try with friends, family, or a date, this is a pretty cool place to try out! There are pretty good options for food on their menu. The dishes that have borders around them are what the chefs recommend. Me and my friend decided to go that route. Warm Goat Cheese - really good! It had a really thick and gooey texture, and I felt with the warmth it added to the deliciousness to it. It really is a comforting dish to try out. I thought the Spanish tomato sauce really complimented to the warm goat cheese. They offer 6 pieces of bread; if you need more, they will give you more! Smoked Chicken Empanadas - this dish was pretty good. The shell was very crispy, but the chicken inside was actually pretty dry, to my surprise. The salsa tasted good though, and I really loved the red pepper cream. Beautiful dish though! I don't think I'd get it again though. I do prefer my empanadas slightly on the softer side. Garlic Shrimp Adobado - this was probably my favorite dish. My friend thought it was a little too strong with garlic, but what else would you expect with "roasted garlic, confit garlic butter, garlic chips" as the description?? I personally didn't find it too garlic-y. I loved it and would recommend it. It was flavorful and I loved the soft cloves of garlic. It wasn't too heavy of a dish. Smoked Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates - this was also one of my other favorites. If you're getting this dish with other ones, my suggestion is to eat this last because the dates are naturally pretty sweet which almost make it feel like you're eating a dessert dish. The bacon was sooo good and cooked so well with the dates. Super decadent dish and unique! If you are not familiar with tapas style, the front of the menu talks about tapas and the communal aspect of it. I loved that they did it! True to tapas style, the restaurant can serve you one to two dishes at a time, which I would recommend. The service was great. Super friendly and warm. The ambiance is warm and Charmaine with excellent Latin music playing. I tried the Bray short rib with the crispy brussels sprouts and the chicken empanadas and I would highly recommend both of them. I was drawn to this place when I saw that their menu featured classic tapas as well as larger options like a burger and tacos. My husband isn't always a fan of tapas restaurants, but this place did the trick! We started with their manchego fries. These were thick cut fries covered with finely shredded manchego and served with a side of aioli. I'm a sucker for fries and was happy to find they offered them as well as the usual Patatas bravas. Next, our scallops arrived. The yellow sauce was so bright and lovely. Then came our burger. Woah. This was definitely one of the best burger we've come across anywhere. It is very fatty (it's topped with a thick slice of Brie as well as aioli and panchetta), so sharing might be the right choice. The bun was the perfect balance as it was super fluffy with some buttery, toasted edges. We'll be hard pressed to top this burger anytime soon. Lastly, we got their tiny tacos. The beef was so tender and totally filled the little wonton taco. It was topped with a red sauce that reminded me of a hot and sweet salsa - so good! Please save your money and do not order the ceviche. I was hoping for a traditional style ceviche and got served this horrendous seafood salad. This ceviche was sticky, bland and did not taste fresh. Way too much scallops. I thought the ceviche at bonefish was terrible but this takes the trophy. How to improve? Add more citrus even after the seafood cures with the juice. Dice the shrimps, fewer scallops, do not serve it with plantain chips as this adds too much sweetness to the dish. Serve it with salted chips to balance the citruses. Been meaning for some time to try Holland's hot spot for small plates. Chef Luke posted a shot of his seafood paella on the socials, and I. was. lured. Cozy little atmosphere to unwind and enjoy some small plates with big flavors. Latin fusion vibes run deep through the ample menu and the original cocktails, to include wonderful variations on old standards. Try the Spanish old fashioned, the mezcal spritzer, or the black and white--each is mixed perfectly and makes you happy you drank it. We ate the seafood paella. It's rich and hearty and tomatoey, and there's lots of great seafood on top. Split it four ways if you only want a taste, but two ways if you're hungry. Service is competent and friendly. We visited Poquitos on thr busiest day in Spring during Tulip Time and despite being short staffed and high volume of customers, they were able to offer us the best food and service. We got an assortment of veggie and meat tapas with glasses of margaritas. All the food was well made and I definitely plan on going back in the non busy season. read more

Lovely wines and tapas abound-- amazing braised 36 hr short rib in Rioja au jus with crispy Brussel sprouts, the other dish was, equally amazing diver sea scallops with a red sauce blending chipotle adobo mixed with probably seafood broth and butter--blackened too. I visited Holland for Tulip Time and was so excited to try Poquito and they didn't disappoint!! Their menu is full of so many great items that it made it so hard to choose what to get. Since it was Tulip Time, they were very busy, but I caught a seat at the bar. Jerry was the bartender and he was kind, attentive, and conversational! Service was on point. Everything was delicious in its own way. The Papas Bravas were crunchy yet soft, and the tomato conserva and garlic aioli brought the right balance of flavors. The Smoked Chicken Empanadas were phenomenal - so flavorful and the chicken was tender. I wanted the Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche but unfortunately they were out, so I went with the Garlic and Shrimp Adobado. This was another good choice - the shrimp was fresh and the garlic was strong! It was just a little salty for my liking. I was going to find a local dessert shop afterwards, but I saw someone order the Churro Bread Pudding and I knew I had to try. It was truly the cherry on top! It was warm, the hazelnut and cinnamon blended well together, and it wasn't overly sweet. Overall, I LOVED my time and experience at Poquito! Loved the ambiance and the menu, although the last time, there were quite a few menu items that were unavailable. That was disappointing. Having traveled extensively in Spain, my expectations were low and I was pleasantly surprised. The patas bravas were a highlight. Tried several other tapas items but portion sizes were surprising; more guidance from the bartender would have been helpful (we had to eat at the bar since tables were all booked). I usually find it hard to rate tapas places like this since I prefer truly small bite tapas or pintxos and ones that come with alcohol purchases. Alas, those don't exist in the states. Basically, don't come here if you don't like small plates or eating as a group. I guess they have a burger, but, eh. Poquito is small. You'll need to set up reservations if you're coming at prime time. There's a cool vibe and while some people complain about service, I had no issue. I think the food was all awesome, though. The Braised Short Rib was our favorite since it was absolutely perfect. Otherwise, the Lobster Croquetas were simple but delicious. We opened with Beets and Sweets but they could almost serve as a light dessert. We'll be back for a Paella. Sure, these are small plates that cost a bit but this is good food. You have to pay to eat food that takes time to prepare. Unclear why people come on Yelp to give one-star reviews of a place they've never been to. The other half are complaining about service at a time when every restaurant is hiring. Who are these people and please stop rating places like this. read more

So excited I was able to try this tapas place downtown Holland! The wait wasn't long for us thankfully since we got there shortly after they opened up at 4. This place is fairly small but decorated very well. It was gorgeous to look around. Our server explained how the menu worked, shared the specials, and also her recommendations. I loooooved the Papas Bravas! They're basically cubed potatoes that have been fried and filled with garlic aioli and a tomato based sauce. Seriously so amazing! Can't go wrong with potatoes in my opinion:) The garlic shrimp adobado has fantastic flavor and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The pricing felt steep but I was very happy overall with my experience here. I would love to come again with maybe a party of four to try out the family style paella. It wasn't bad either though and considering it's the only tapas place in town it gets a .5 bump up lol. TL;DR 5/5 service 3/5 food 2/5 bang for your buck Would recommend trying at least once, has cute ambience and would be a cute fancy date night Now I know most a lot of the reviews so far are about the plates being tiny for the prices but tapas places are pretty pricey across the board and small plates is the point of the restaurant. With that said there is still room for improvement. For example if I order the lobster croquettes for $15 bucks, I should definitely get more then 1-2 pieces of half a fingernail sized lobster in each croquette. Ya feel? Also paid $9 for basically a cup FILLED with ice and what was probably two shots of sangria lol. Sangria was good but jeez. Other than the price aspect, the food itself was pretty good, some dishes better than others. I ordered the following: - Warm goat cheese - recommend! was really yummy - Pork belly pupusa - my least favorite, there was NO pork belly and was way to cheesy especially since they brought it out as the last dish. The dough was good though. Would not recommend - Crispy Saffron Chicken - pretty good! saffron sauce was really good but other than that it wasn't AMAZING - Lobster Croquettes - way too cheesy and had practically no lobster. Would not recommend, although I liked the jam - Garlic Butter Shrimp - BEST thing I had! Sauce was amazing and gave you a decent amount of shrimp. - Potatoes Bravas - meh, wouldn't recommend. So many wonderful 5 star choices on the menu to try completely ruined by terrible service. Our tapas took over 2 hours to get and the scallops were delivered completely cold. The server was sullen and she seemed completely unconcerned that our dinner was not arriving even though those around us were all being served. There were only 3 of us so this was not a large group to deal with. This restaurant is a wonderful addition to the community but would do much better to employ servers who enjoyed their job and treated customers with a degree of concern for their experience. read more

We ordered a Mango sangria and a white sangria and an appetizer ( tostones ) You guys are trying to extend the life of the plantains by cutting the slices razor thin and almost burnt. The small place was nearly empty, so I said no and got ready to walk out, but the hostess said we "should be okay for an hour." Our sangria and cider were amazing, our food was top-notch, and the server (also the bartender who kept hopping over to us) was attentive as well. We had some sort of cheese dip, three little tacos, and a garlic shrimp dish, and these were just enough for the two of us to feel satisfied.
