When did the slices get small here? Maybe it was 8 years ago... but it used to be a large thin crust NY style pie.

I have lived in the area for 25 years. J&P has always been the staple for NY/NJ style pizza. Somewhere along this timeline the owners or pizza changed, though. It went from they typically large thin NY style pie to more of a medium sized thicker crust, thicker cheese deliverable. It's still good, but it's no longer really NY style pizza. The pizza is good as is the other Italian offerings on the menu. It has the pizza parlor casual feel where you can order a quick slice to go, or sit down and have anything from a slice to a full Italian dinner. It's tough to get anything like that around here, which is nice. I would no longer drive out of the way to get the pizza, though. Still way better than a Dominoes, Ledo's or Papa Johns, though. So there's that. I blame the delivery chains like Dominoes, though, for shrinking our pies. They started selling medium pies as larges, the mom-and-pops couldn't compete. Now everybody sells medium pies and calls them larges. It's a conspiracy! :)

12 hot wings, lemon garlic shrimp, calamari

No longer worth it. Prices have jumped very high with the quality of food not matching the value. Ordered 12 wings, lemon garlic shrimp and calamari. Totaling about 50. There were only 6 shrimp in a soup pretty much. The calamari used to come in a larger quantity but now it's not worth it either. Flavor is so so. Sadly it's one of the only places in Damascus. Before the cheap price made up for it but not anymore.

Angel hair pasta with meat sauce

The food is always spot on. Our family's go to when we can't decide what to make . The pasta sauce is really good and the homemade bread is delicious for the pizza/garlic bread/calzone. They never rush us which is nice. Hidden gem for seafood dishes- the seafood pasta is really good as is the fried fish platter.

I love this place I come every day and get a pepperoni pizza. Staff are great and very respectful. This store is very clean they have clean utensils.

The spices provided at the table

The pizza is amazing and big and filling the service is so fast and polite ambiance is like a old diner, it's a family owned restaurant.

Still love their pepperoni pizza after the renovation! The past two times though, my order wasn't quite right- either forgot something or didn't follow the instructions on the pizza. Hopefully they work better to avoid these kinds of issues in the future!

My go-to for pizza. We are from NY and this place is closest to NY slice than any other nearby that I've tried.

Prices are a bit high but I think it lends to their (mostly) attentive service. Of the four times I've been so far, only one waitress was disappointing. When I brought my children, they were so helpful getting booster seats and a comfortable location for our large party. When I've gone alone or as a date, the vibe always accommodates the mood for the dining experience. Truly versatile The baked figs are dynamite. The pizzas are lovely. The cream based ravioli that I ate on one trip was dish-licking delicious. I will say the blackberry creme brulee was a bit disappointing BUT the cookies and cream Smith Island Cake was fantastic. I am sure we will be back many times in years to come.

We've been here about ten times since Tony P's took over, and the experience has generally been great. The pizza is outstanding, and every fish dish we've tried has been enjoyable. I also appreciate I'm able to get a well‑made mixed drink. But here's my gripe: the pasta. It's consistently below par. The texture is gummy, and yesterday's lasagna confirmed it again. When delivered parts were warm, parts were cool, the pasta was mushy, and the red sauce was minimal. My wife warned me -- her last pasta dish here wasn't good -- but I didn't listen. I ate about a third, took the rest home, and halfway through the walk (we live close) I tossed it in the trash. I only write reviews when a place earns an A+ or a D‑. Everything else here is solidly in the A range... but the pasta needs serious attention. Think about it. I'll be back however a bit more selective in my order.

We started with the Grand Caviar tasting, which was the most expensive caviar option on the menu. For the price, I expected much more. The caviar was extremely salty, to the point where it felt like additional salt had been added on top. The tasting included three varieties of caviar. The caviar they used on one was the exact caviar they used in sushi. Our second appetizer, the tuna dish, was significantly better. While the presentation could have been more refined and visually appealing, the flavor exceeded expectations and was one of the stronger dishes we tried. For my entrée, I ordered the branzino. The fish itself was decent, but def not crispy but it was salty. The sauce was salty and the fish was salty making the entire plate feel like salt layered upon salt. Additionally, the skin was advertised as crispy, but it lacked the crisp texture I was expecting. My husband ordered the rainbow trout stuffed with crab. It was enjoyable and probably the most balanced entrée of the evening, though it wasn't particularly memorable. For sides, I ordered the wild mushrooms, and my husband chose the risotto. The risotto had good flavor but seemed slightly undercooked. The mushroom side was also on the salty side, and despite being described as "wild mushrooms," it consisted primarily of portobello mushroom.

It's great!" Needless to say that it was an overpriced mush of a dish. There was no texture to the dish. At first sight it looked like a generous helping of food, about 6 pieces of eggplant with spaghetti. However, there was no texture to the deep fried eggplant, no crunch, no flavor, disappointing. Spaghetti was normal, nothing special. The pizza. Not shown, was also disappointing. There's so many other better options close by, prob won't come back.

When we walked in we were immediately greeted and were able to choose our seat. We opted for a custom pizza with mushroom, caramelized onions, and sausage. The crust was thin and super crispy, just how a like it albeit a tad burnt in some spots (but I think that's unavoidable with brick oven places). The caramelized onions gave the pizza an interesting sweetness and the cheese to pizza ratio was spot on. We also got a Hot Pastrami sub, which, if you don't like horseradish then this isn't for you. Horseradish flavor is definitely strong but also they did not skimp on the pastrami. Part of the bread was also burnt but the texture was still that nice combo of crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. We did bus our own tables but the service staff behind the ordering counter was really nice and offered to walk us through the menu.
