Just around the corner from my new home sita this amazing restaurant serving the Best pizza In Damascus MD, as soon as you walk in the door your not only greeted with smile from the staff but also the customers here are so friendly. The restaurant is maintained clean, the service was really fast. The food was delicious and can't wait to be back again soon!! This restaurant is under new ownership with new names on the menu (Jeovani's Pizzeria) , but the sign out front has not changed. Just seems off. It looks like the same staff and their steak and cheese was OK and the pizza was not that good. No free refills on soda anymore and my server neglected to tell me this until the bill showed up.-- I just find this cheap and petty. read more

I have lived in the area for 25 years. J&P has always been the staple for NY/NJ style pizza. Somewhere along this timeline the owners or pizza changed, though. It went from they typically large thin NY style pie to more of a medium sized thicker crust, thicker cheese deliverable. It's still good, but it's no longer really NY style pizza. The pizza is good as is the other Italian offerings on the menu. It has the pizza parlor casual feel where you can order a quick slice to go, or sit down and have anything from a slice to a full Italian dinner. It's tough to get anything like that around here, which is nice. I would no longer drive out of the way to get the pizza, though. Still way better than a Dominoes, Ledo's or Papa Johns, though. So there's that. I blame the delivery chains like Dominoes, though, for shrinking our pies. They started selling medium pies as larges, the mom-and-pops couldn't compete. Now everybody sells medium pies and calls them larges. It's a conspiracy! :) read more

No longer worth it. Prices have jumped very high with the quality of food not matching the value. Ordered 12 wings, lemon garlic shrimp and calamari. Totaling about 50. There were only 6 shrimp in a soup pretty much. The calamari used to come in a larger quantity but now it's not worth it either. Flavor is so so. Sadly it's one of the only places in Damascus. Recently ordered pizza from here and honestly I found my new go-to pizza place! Perfect amount of toppings and well made.

I ordered online for delivery. I had angel hair marinara with green pepper. The peppers were tender crisp and chunky. I loved it. The real highlight was the bread that came with it! I don't think I've ever had such delicious bread! I saw they have chicken noodle soup on the menu and next time I'm not well, I'll be ordering that and lots of bread. read more

Put very simply, the food was horrible. The only reason I'm saying two stars instead of one star is because the person at the counter was really nice. Cheesesteak --with a drink -- was more than $16, but the portion for the sandwich was way less than generous. The bread was especially dry and the steak tasted as if it hadn't been seasoned. I also asked for hot peppers, which they forgot, but the food was so bad that I didn't even realize that until I was finally finished eating. My brother got a burger and fries and had similar complaints: tasted like it wasn't seasoned. The service was also very slow. Again, if the manager is seeing this, please at least know that the guy you had taking orders at the counter is super nice, which was much appreciated. read more

I ordered take out for my family a few days ago, and I was baffled by what we were given! My family is Muslim, and in our family we don't eat pork. We had ordered a simple cheese pizza, expecting a warm cheesy delicious pizza. When we got to our third slice, we were shocked by a random piece of pepperoni! I was disgusted by this. For at least the last year, this restaurant has consistently had a strange odor, as if the building has a plumbing or sewer issue. It's better than it was but persists. (At the onset, it was so bad that we walked out without being seated!) I was there on 2/13/24 for dinner. My relative & I asked for water. When it arrived, it had a terrible aftertaste. When we called the server over, he kindly offered bottled water for no charge. Again, I suspect some sort of plumbing issue. I ordered a small spinach calzone, while my relative ordered a cheese burger. None of the usual condiments or toppings were offered for the burger, e.g. "Would you like ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato...?" The burger arrived completely naked. There were no ketchup or mustard bottles on the table, so when she asked for ketchup, she received a nearly empty bottle. Her burger was supposed to come with chips. She ordered a side of fries but had to ask for the chips that accompany the burger, even though she made it clear that she wanted both. The server was personable & checked on us several times. As for my calzone, it was only warm inside & the sauce seemed like bottled sauce. It was just OK. I have been going to J&P in numerous locations for years (Damascus, Mt. Airy & Manchester), since the first one opened in Mt. Airy in the late 1980's. I realize the Damascus location is no longer owned by the same family & YOU CAN TELL!! We are done! Between the persistently unpleasant odor to the strange tasting water to the poorly presented food, we will not be returning. Even though Damascus is more convenient, we'll be driving to Mt. Airy where the quality is far better. read more

I was charged for a specialty chicken pesto pizza when all I ordered was a small cheese pizza with pesto sauce instead of regular sauce. Pizza is extremely greasy as well. Service was good. The waiter was a young boy who was attentive to our needs. My thanks to him. After my brother recommended going here after having a delicious experience his first time at his workplace, I decided to try out the restaurant with him. I was reluctant to try it as I just had Italian food yesterday and for what it was worth it was possible. However when my brother decided to order a classic pepperoni pizza and I decided to go with the cheese ravioli, I was blown away by the taste of the ravioli. The texture of the pasta was really soft and the sauce combined with the cheese was amazing. I never had Italian food this good (Ledo/Mama Lucia). The ravioli had the right amount of cheese and the sauce wasn't overwhelming in either taste and quantity. My brother enjoyed his pizza as well - he finished 6/8 slices in one sitting. I will be looking forward to coming here, and I learned an excellent lesson of how yelp rating of a restaurant can be wrong. I was astonished by the 3 stars given to this restaurant. Maybe there's been improvements to the restaurant but I really hope it doesn't go in acknowledged by yelp. I wish the staff and the customer alike the best. read more

Talk about being surprised. The Yelp reviews we read did not fill us with great hope. However, time and place dictated that we give J&P a shot. Our server was Brittany. She made the experience. She was cheerful, attentive, and honest with her recommendations. Here's what we ate: Traditional (not square Sicilian) cheese pizza: so good, sauce slightly sweet, crispy crust with a soft center and nice chew. Very good New York pizza replica if you ask me. Although, I've never had New York pizza, so don't ask me. Steak and cheese: Brittany told me a lot of people order this. In fact each table she had so far tonight ordered at least one. Ok, we gave it a go. Are you kidding? A real steak and cheese! Wow! I'm glad everyone liked their food so much I didn't have to share this. Eggplant parm sub: the taste was pretty decent. Would have liked the eggplant cut thicker - it was wafer thin. Perhaps some people love that, but my wife loves a thicker slice of eggplant that had a robust eggplant flavor. I thought they were a bit heavy on the sauce. Excellent bread though. Meatball parm sub: my daughter lily is only 7. Brittany proposed that they make this sub or any for that matter a half for half the price. The meatballs were herby. Also heavy on the sauce. Calamari Dorati: my son loves calamari. These were no exception. I thought the color a little pale but in hindsight they call them Dorati and they were definitely a pale gold color. More importantly they tasted fantastic. Calamari can easily be flubbed by over cooking but not here. They were delicate and delicious. Yum! Cream of crab soup: large chunks of lump crabmeat. Creamy soup base could have had a bit more seafood flavor, but was not unpleasant just a little plain. Mom really liked this. Shrimp and crab fondue: Bread bowl. Need I say more? Yes, because it was excellent. We were a little hesitant about seafood at a pizza place. Brittany said, in all honesty, that none of her customers had ever ordered that. It wasn't negative so we thought we should give it a try. We are so glad we did. 4 giant shrimp, tons of crabmeat and a wonderful creamy tomato sauce. Really a lovely flavor. It had the taste of the sea that was missing from the soup base. Pitcher of soda was a good value for my 5 kids. This was an excellent experience. Wish I had tried it sooner. Tucked into a small shopping center. This is only the second New York J and P pizza place I have been to. The pizza is pretty good but I was startled by the price. Seemed higher than most pizza places. One of the pizzas had the wrong toppings but they corrected it quickly once I came back. Anyone can make a mistake and they corrected it quickly so I don't hold that against them. But the price was a little more than expected. read more

We come here pretty frequently and know what to expect. Brittany was our waitress and was great, very attentive and helpful with my daughter. We had the medium white pizza with broccoli but it didn't come with Ricotta, seriously, what white pizza doesn't come with ricotta? Getting it with ricotta made a world of difference. My daughter got a slice of pizza with mushrooms and olives and ate it all. I think she really liked her slice. The big neg: the garlic knots were uneatable. All I ever get here is the chicken fingers and fries (which is on the kids menu) but man-oh-man is it good. First, the chicken, real chicken, is crunchy on the outside and juicy when you bite into it. The fries, which they are piled high, are perfectly hand cut and deep fried so that they're crisp on the outside but soft in the center. My friends and I go here weekly for take out and we love that they're open late! read more
