Here's my first impressions after visiting Newk's: seems overall like a pretty good place to eat. The menu was very visible, the cashier was nice, and the ordering process was simple. My mom and I got our food within 10 minutes and it was pleasantly hot. I ordered the club sandwich with some modifications and a side of mac & cheese. The sandwich was good, but a little smaller than I'd like given what it cost. The mac and cheese was so salty it was difficult to stomach more than a few bites, and seemed more like a kitchen error than what I would expect for the normal taste. My mom got the chicken salad wrap with a side of pasta salad. The wrap was good, but a little light on the actual chicken salad. The pasta salad was basic but good. Overall I think it's a good place for people looking for decent classic food but a little overpriced for what you get. read more

Newk's makes a good sandwich.  I had the Newk's Club. There was generous deli ham and turkey that was crazy, tasty.  This is a hot sandwich, which surprised me, so the lettuce and tomatoes weren't particularly lifelike.  But I enjoyed having the melted cheese on the bread. I guess it's a trade off.  The bread is firm, with a solid crunch. Loved that! Their cole slaw has a mild flavor and was very fresh. On to the strawberry cake: DO NOT ORDER. Bottom Line: Anyone that can create an order that big and have it be good, is ok in my book I was in Texas for a work trip and one of the days that we were in the office, they had piles of sandwiches from Newks. Whenever I see large amounts of sandwiches, you can almost bet that the bigger the order, the worse the quality is. Well this is clearly not the case with Newks - I have to say that I probably tried at least four sandwich halfs and they were all delicious. I also was able to bring my cup home so I have a little memento to remember this place. The next time I'm out there, I really need to get back to this place to get my own! read more

The people working there are awesome. We like the Italian subs. The macaroni is nice and so is the pasta salad. We have never had allergy issues there. I was really looking forward to lunch today after a colleague had picked up lunch from here earlier in the week and I have to say I was underwhelmed. I went with a coworker and they were definitely busy which I took as a good sign. The clerks at the order counter were friendly and helpful. They have a variety of soups that rotate based on the day and today (Thursday) included a French Bistro Steak & Mushroom soup that sounded perfect for the grey and gloomy day. My colleague ordered the tomato basil soup with a salad. I didn't take pictures of my colleague's meal because it's one thing to snap pics of your food but something else to take pictures of other people's food. The picture of my soup however is just as sad and depressing as the weather. It was mostly broth with little substance. Nothing like I anticipated. To be fair, the broth was tasty but I had visIons of thick mushrooms and pieces of meat included with it. At the bottom of my bowl we're pieces of what I believe to have, at one point been the afore mentioned steak and mushrooms but I couldn't Distinguish what they were. Except burnt. I can only assume that I was the lucky winner of the absolute bottom of the pot of soup for today. Yay. My colleague said her soup was tasty and much better than her salad. Not that there was anything wrong with the salad except that it was all crammed in a small bowl and hard to mix it for the perfect bite. The staff overall seemed competent and others have commented here about the lack of clean tables but I have to say that the lovely lady responsible for keeping the tables clean between guests was doing a bang up job. Another lunch to throw out barely eaten. The portobello sandwich. Disgusting. Austin is anti cooking or toasting bread so you end up with mushy soggy bread. And it's gross. Please refund me!! I'm left with a fruit cup as my lunch to last until 5 pm and it's only 12:15pm. They also dropped it off so early for lunch drop that it says there long enough ti be extra gross. This shouldn't be offered as a lunch drop item. read more

Went for a quick business lunch. The lady who took our order was an absolute gem and deserves all the praise. The low rating is because it looked like while there were covid precautions in place, they weren't being followed. The place was pretty busy so we sat in a booth far away from everyone, but within ten minutes, someone was sitting in the booth directly behind me--then another couple came and sat at the booth on the other side of us. Clearly the tables weren't marked to leave proper spacing and it made for a really uncomfortable experience. I didn't even finish my food because I wanted to mask up and get out of there. I hate eating out during the pandemic and try to do it as rarely as possible. This is the first time I've encountered people being able to sit at adjacent tables. Food was just okay. I ordered the chili and even my coworker remarked at how "soup-y" it looked. It also had mushrooms which is a new take on chili, I guess? Can't say I'll be back. read more

I've only had the catering but it was tasty. Not really a lot to comment about. Dressing was incredibly tart and the salad was slathered.

This is one of those places where I wondered why it took me so long to come here. I had their Farmer's Market sandwich which was OMG good (Grilled squash, zucchini, portabella mushrooms, caramelized onions and Gouda cheese. Topped with house-made basil mayo, sliced tomatoes and fresh spinach. Served on 11-grain wheat bread). The side I chose, pasta salad, was delicious too. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and enjoyed it very much! I will say that the service is what ruined the experience for me. It was my first time to Newk's and the atmosphere is peaceful enough, but the staff is very hands off. When you walk in, no one says hello to you, I visibly needed assistance and no one asked to assist, and I actually felt like I was a bother to be there. Thankfully, once my bf arrived, the young lady behind the counter greeted us with a smile and took our order. Quite possibly one of the best fast casual dining experiences I've had. The sandwiches and salads are above average. In fact, the food itself is very good. My french dip (which was customized to my request) was second only to a much more expensive one at Bartlett's. In particular, the french roll was of bakery quality. The mac and cheese side was creamy and cheesy. My dining companion enjoyed both her turkey sandwich and caesar salad. The service was overall friendly and the service was quick. Both of us dining together made requests for our sandwiches which came out accurate. Probably the biggest surprise of our experience was the drink and condiment area. There were a variety of soft drinks, three kinds of iced teas (unsweet, sweet, and sweet with Splenda), and the usual assortment of sweeteners. The large lemon slices were a welcome change from the usual slivers at many restaurants. Further, the condiment area contained a huge variety of seasonings and sauces. And for those eating soups or salads, there were also breadsticks, grated Parmesan cheese, and croutons available for self-service. Why, why, did you take chicken noodles soup off the menu? No gumbo, only one chili (and with beans). Why? We have been there dozens of times and considered Newk's as one of our staple lunch spots. Not any more. The roast beef sandwich was incredibly tough and the Italian Wedding soup was devoid of flavor, except for the salt we added.
