We had a good first experience at Newk's. We stopped here after taking a train and were tired and a little hungry. They have the menu on the wall when you walk in and you order at the register. You can go fill up your drink and sit down and the order is brought out to you. I went with the half salad, and half soup for $8.99. The tomato basil soup was chunky and not creamy which I loved. It also had good homemade crunchy croutons in it and a drizzle of heavy cream. I also got the garden salad with balsamic dressing on the side. It tasted like homemade dressing. My boyfriend ordered the cheesesteak hoagie. It came out looking super pink and it was ice cold when he bit into it. He told the server and she had the kitchen remake it. He liked the flavor and pimento cheese, but it still was not super hot. We saw lots of people picking up take out pizzas and salads. This was convenient to Target and Circle K which we needed to stop at. I will definitely keep this place in mind especially for big salads. read more

Their shrimp po boy is so good it belongs in a seafood restaurant. It's boiled rather than fried shrimp so that's a plus for me since you can taste the shrimp rather than mostly batter. They don't skimp on the shrimp either, they put around a dozen of them along with olive oil, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion. They have a lot of side options but I went with the side salad and loaded up on toppings at the topping bar. Their icea tea is legit too and they have regular sweet or sweet made with Splenda if you want to have sweet tea without feeling too full. Everyone is really friendly here and the food comes out fast. I'd come back here for sure sometime when I'm back in town and they need to open one in Northern Virginia ASAP. read more

The food and service at this Newk's is great; offering fresh quality food with a smile. However the location is too small for the demand. We went yesterday after church and the place was packed out; they have so many tables cramped together it's hard to get through the sea of tables and people. They really need to expand. When we came in we were greeted by friendly cashiers that took our order and the food runners were nice too, making sure we had everything we needed. When I lived nearby, I came here all the time. Always tasty and well made sandwiches. Mac and Cheese is killer. If you like crunchy cracker style bread sticks, they are packaged and basically unlimited... take some home they will stay eatable for years. Negatives? Pizza dough is always soggy and not strong enough to hold toppings (eat with a fork I guess). The prices are borderline expensive (sandwhich, half size Mac and Cheese, and drink will set you back $20+). Outdoor tables are often filthy. Also... can't really blame anybody for this but be aware that frequently, there are large, extremely loud and aggressive crows squawking on/at the outdoor seating... and will steal your food any chance you give them). read more

You can't go wrong at Newks! They have delicious soups, salads, sandwhiches, pizza and more! My favorite thing they have is their delicious chicken salad. I get it as a sandwich or on the southern salad. It is soooooo delicious. It has grapes in it and it is my favorite! They have great ranch dressing as well! The grab & go area is super convenient for a quick lunch, or you can call and order pick up. You can also dine in! Newks has a condiment area full of toppings, and pickles and snacks to go with your salads, soups & sandwiches. The primento mac and cheese and primento cheese pizza are both super delicious too! First time visiting a Newk's. I like the menu options and the service was friendly. I tried the pick two and got 1/2 of a grilled steak sandwich and the six cheese pimiento with bacon Mac and cheese. The sandwich was just okay and I wouldn't get it again. The Mac and cheese was tasty and creamy. I didn't love the bacon so in the future, I'd probably just try the regular Mac and cheese. I would give 3 stars for food but bumping it up a star for the friendly service. I like coming to this Newk's location because of the service and the food. It's always fresh and the people are friendly when they serve you. I've not had a bad experience here yet! The manager was quick to make sure that I was signed up for their rewards program; every 50 points you get a free meal. I'm a fan of their sandwiches, soups, and pizzas. This visit I ordered the margherita pizza, with fresh cheese, basil, and tomatoes. It came out piping hot and super cheesy! Six slices was more than enough for my appetite. Let me start off by saying I love Newks food and have been going there since they opened years back. Staff and management have always been helpful. In the beginning the salads over flowed the bowls, the sandwiches were hearty, the pizza was so tasty and filling. Not sure if it's just me or if anyone else has noticed lately they seemed to have cut back on carry out food portions. Since Covid we rarely leave the office to go out and so we have it delivered (which gets pricy but we love the food). I always get salads but have come to realize if you get a salad from the take out fridge it's a pretty full box but if you ask to have one freshly made and dressing tossed in you get half a box of salad. This happened a few weeks ago with a greek salad - I brushed it off as it being a busy time and trying to get food out the door. When a premade salad was delivered last week (because I forgot to asked to have the dressing tossed in) it was good very hearty lots of lettuce (has to be if it's going to sit in a case and want you to buy it right?) . Today I craved a Newks salad and YES remembered to ask to have the dressing tossed in. See pic below - I feel like they thought I was doing a combo as half the salad was not there. I should have taken a pic of the side it did not even touch the top of the container or the portion only went halfway up the box. Didn't have time to run it back to them so I ate it and I'll say it was very tasty but did not fill me up. If I'm going to pay $11-$14 plus delivery plus tip - make it worth me wanting to do this with Newks and not someone else please. Not a good experience 1. There was almost more brown lettuce then green in our salads 2. The dressing had no flavor at all even with 2 containers each 3. The shrimp was dry and also burnt!! Burnt yes I said burnt. There is no reason to be even cooked that way 4. Quality of Shrimp was poor or should I say lack of in this salad , 6 pieces when we usually get 10-12 in the town center location 5. There was bacon in our salad. The salad doesn't even call for that ingredient I would of called for a refund but threw my receipt out and wouldn't of been able to give them the receipt number. Solid spot for a quick lunch. It's a salad, sandwich, and pizza place. Food came out quick on my to-go order. Staff was super friendly and the food was surprisingly good. I say that because quick food places like this can be underwhelming at best but Newk's was clean, the take out format was efficient, and my half turkey sandwich and ceasar salad was very fresh. What an awesome place! I went for a late lunch so it wasn't crazy. I ordered an arugula shrimp salad and a fountain drink. The service was good and everything looked really clean. There are a lot of items on the menu so you can pair half potions if you'd like. There is a freebie station to dress up your meal with croutons, pickles, capers, cheese, jalapeños, and a few other items. I thought it was really cool. The fountain drink selection was good and they had sweet raspberry tea which was very good. The avocado shrimp salad was really dense with a lot arugula! The lemon dressing was plentiful as was the shrimp but less arugula would have balanced it out much better. They have a few sweets at the register. I didn't get anything but they had huge marshmallow bars for $1.99! They also have a small express refrigerator with fruit and sandwiches. I would return for sure. read more

Good: the pizza, good thin crust pizza I like the size is perfect for personal pizza...also the complimentary topping bar, cool idea and I love the bread and butter pickles. Bad: the salads are drenched in dressing, my ceasar had so much dressing it was almost inedible, the sandwiches are hit or miss...the Italian had so much Italian dressing on it when I took a bite it was shooting out the bottom of the sandwich. We've always liked Newks. It's quick, it's clean and we like the various menu items. This time we were really disappointed with the Deluxe Pizza. The pizza tastes really good but execution of it needs to be rethought. First, its GENEROUSLY loaded with pepperoni, ham, peppers, olives, mushrooms, artichokes (all my favs) but the toppings were way too heavy for the super thin crust. Pick up a slice and the toppings don't have a chance of staying on the slice - so why bother? The toppings could perhaps be sliced thinner or the crust needs to be thicker to be able to support the weight and give the toppings a small chance of actually making into your mouth before falling back onto the plate. The ham cubes were basically the size of a pecans and the olives weren't sliced. I will say that the peppers were proportionate to the pizza. I'm a big fan of loading up pizza with toppings. I mean whoever complains about too many toppings?! It's expected for SOME toppings to fall (of course) but this wasn't what we expected - I basically ate a pepperoni pizza then used a fork for all the tasty toppings. Ugh. ‍ The Black and Bleu salad was good as always. Generous amounts of meat and I'm a fan of anything with blue cheese. The salad basically saved the meal because we were so bummed out about the pizza. Overall, the restaurant is always clean, staff is friendly, service is quick and the condiment bar is always nice & tidy. We'll be back but highly doubtful we will ever order that pizza again. Enjoyed a great lunch at Newks. This is one of these places we go to once or twice a week on a regular basis. You just can't beat their salads, the sandwiches, and their soups. I especially enjoy their Mediterranean Salad topped with a nice slab of Grilled Salmon. Everything is fresh and made to order just for you. Serving sizes are plentiful. The prices are fair. They have a really good loyalty program. I actually got my lunch for free that day. The place is very clean, including the restrooms. Parking is easy. I discovered Newks a few months ago Ann's feel in love with their food. Especially the cauliflower pizza crust. The other location on JTB told me about their refillable cup deal and have therefore brought back the hard plastic cups on subsequent visits (even the airport location) with no problem. I was highly disappointed that this location didn't know anything about it, Treated me rudely that i brought my cups, and stated I couldn't do that. The food was still great but i felt rudely treated over this. They could have been more friendly about explaining this location didn't honor the refillable cup deal. read more

I practically work next door to Newks. I automatically assume I should venture out further than 1/2 mile radius for lunch so I often drive past the place. Big mistake! Last week I ventured in. The menu is expansive with everything from soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza n more. For some unknown reason, I opted for pizza and a salad which was way too much food. Once you pay they give you a plastic number to place on your table. Find any open seat in their expensive dining room. A normal wait time while the kitchen prepares your order. I pass the time by reading the newspaper. It gets a little noisy but overall not bad. Prices are reasonable, food is decent and the staff all friendly. Wow best loaded potato soup I have ever had! The complimentary breadsticks are very popular. The half turkey club was so delicious, excellent meat, crisp bacon, fresh lettuce, great cheese and fresh delicious bread. My husband had the Italian sub and pasta salad and he was blown away at the freshness and said it was one of the best sandwiches he has ever had.
