I stopped by with one of my friends for a quick to-go. And yes, it was my first time at Newk's. The interior design seems very comforting and relaxed, which I like. We decided to order to-go instead of dining in because we had a seminar to attend in an hour's time. I had ordered one of the combo: the cup of chicken tortilla soup (Friday's choice) and half a grilled chicken sandwich. Which was decently priced. The food was complete within 6-10 minutes. We decided to sit and enjoy our meal since we still had plenty of time left. My soup was nice and hot; packed in a paper container and placed inside a paper bag. My sandwich was packed in a clear plastic square container. Both items were also packed into one plastic bag, which I thought the design was simple and neat. Everything tasted quite good and my friend gave me a slice of her pizza. I really liked her pizza because she had ordered one of their specialty, except I don't know the name, but it had sausage and pepperoni. Overall the restaurant looks and feel clean. Nice looking restaurant, with fresh healthy options.... Staff friendly... But my biggest issue is the salad dressing! Love the fact that they make many of their dressings in-house, but the balsamic taste just like oil... Which is upsetting my already sensitive Paleo stomach!!! This is my first meal of the day and traveling... This will surely teach me to travel with my own dressing!!! I would probably give this place 3.5, but I opted for a 4 opposed to a 3, because I thought the three would of been too low for the nice establishment!!! read more

I've fallen in love with this restaurant in Birmingham, so after seeing it has opened up in Opelika, I was pretty excited to potentially get back one of my favorite lunch time spots. However, the menu has changed to where you can only order certain soups on certain days, and their Grilled Chicken sandwich was a little on the dry side so I had to ask for a side of Newk's sauce. Their free breadsticks from the condiments table in the center of the restaurant are still my guilty little appetizer though, so not such a disappointment and the Half/Half Combo was still very filling. read more

I'm giving this place 1 star because the food was alright but the service was HORRIBLE. It literally seemed like we were such a bother to them. I asked to swap my chips out and the girl acted annoyed. They left off my pasta salad and when they brought it to the table they didn't say a word to us. No one there knew how to smile or greet annoying coming through the door. I felt like I was at McDonalds. We visited around 3:00-4:00 on Friday July 12th. I loved Newk's when they first arrived at Tiger Town. However, they must have changed ownership since the restaurant is getting a little worn down. The bathrooms are dirty, the round table is low or out of pickles and not maintain with cleanliness, and the floors are slippery due to excess moisture in the air. I've been to Newk's about 7-8 times since their opening day. It's quick and fairly easy. However, each time the food has become progressively worse. The past two visits, I was served a bowl of salad dressing with a little bit of lettuce and veggies. It was pretty bad. I got through about 1/2 the salad and had to call it quits. From now on I'll just make sure to get the dressing on the side. The place is clean. The food is decent. You just need to be particular about how it's served otherwise it'll be slathered and slopped together. read more

I have been to Newks in at least 5 locations and can honestly say it is one of my favorite casual dining restaurants. I last visited this location a couple of days ago. The manager was very welcoming when she greeted me and took my order. The food was delivered to me fairly quickly. I have a habit of ordering the same thing all the time but on this occasion I ordered the ahi tuna salad with ginger wasabi dressing on the side. The salad was good and the ahi tuna was prepared perfectly. I guess the only issue I had was that the dressing was not mixed right but I have been experiencing that problem at every location lately. I don't know why it happens but the consistency is not right. On that note I might not order the wasabi dressing anymore but the ther dressings are all very good. Anyway despite that problem I will go back to this location in the near future. read more

Love me some Newk's! The food is tasty and well prepared. One issue at this location: they don't give you the large lemon slices that Newk's is known for among tea lovers. One lemon chopped into 64 tiny pieces doesn't make me want to spend $2 for an iced tea, so I had to hold back one star. read more

The water at this location literally tastes like Dirt. While here I witnessed 4 customers having to buy a drink because of this issue. When asked, the staff blamed it on a city issue. Hard to believe the whole city puts up with dirt flavored water. read more

Not normally a huge fan of sandwich places but this place is definitely NOT your average sandwich place! Our family tried 2 different kinds of pizza, chicken salad & Italian sandwiches, salads and dessert...EVERYTHING was fantastic!! The ONLY thing that could make this place better is if it was located in the state we live. We will most definitely be looking for Newks wherever we travel in the future! read more

I went to Newk's on 6/8/2018 at approximately 2;15pm and ordered the Ahi tuna salad to eat in house and ordered a chicken sandwich and a 1/2 pound of chicken salad to go. The lady at the cashier stand got my ordered completely wrong, after calmly explaining to her the mistakes she made and calmly explaining that a 1/2 pound equals 8 ounces...lol, it took her a while for her to understand what I was ordering and getting it right, the people behind me were laughing. I sat down and my Ahi salad arrived, the Ahi was still partially frozen and wasn't seared at all, I didn't say anything as I didn't want to go through another process of trying to get things right. I ate fast and made my forty minute drive home. By the time I got home I had terrible stomach pains and had to use the bathroom immediately. To make things worse, when I went to eat the chicken sandwich today, I noticed there wasn't hardly any chicken inside the rolls, I mean almost nothing, just crumbles of chichen. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this establishment. They really need to do some serious housecleaning of the employees of this restaurant, replacing the manager would be a start. My wife and I eat at Newk's weekly. It is a welcome addition to Tiger Town. The building is new and the inside decor is tastefully done. All of the food choices we have chosen have been outstanding. I particularly like the Bar B Q chicken pizza. Service is fast. read more

I love to go here on thursdays and Saturdays just because creamy tomato soup on their menu. If you love tomato soup from Panera , you would love this for sure. I am a vegetarian so I generally go with Vege club sandwich and caesar salad. Love it read more

Pizza was good. Lots of toppings and crisp crust. Skip dessert. My daughter got red velvet cake and I got a brownie. Both were tasteless.

Really great salads and tomato bisque soup! Would definitely return when in this area.
