Newk's is one of the coolest deli's I've been to recently. It's layout and decor reminds me of New Orleans French Market. You place your order with a cashier, take your number to a table and wait for your food to be delivered. There is a self-serve drink bar and salad topping station (I almost made a meal of the complementary bread and butter sweet pickle slices). I ordered a Greek Salad with Tuna as my protein. The tuna was prepared well and was of good (but not awesome) quality. My mom had the grilled chicken sandwich with pasta salad and really enjoyed it. read more

This place did not disappoint. I ordered the Newk's Q, which was wonderful! I found it a bit spicy, but very good. The pasta salad was ok. My husband had the Chicken n dumplings soup, which he loved and the chocolate cake is amazing. Service was good and order was accurate. The food is always amazing - lots of delicious options but I am a little disappointed they stopper serving wine. The young staff they hire to work check in counter are a joke at times. A manager approached one of them while I was being helped and took a tip jar away from one of them in front of me and told her they could not ask for tips. I was warned by my customer not to give Newk's anything less than a five star review, so if you're reading this Gary (he's a Yelp lurker)... We arrived just before the lunch rush starts not that it seemed to matter. While the tables started to fill up and the number cards (you place your order at the register and display that number at the table for the staff to bring your food) started to go up, none of them seemed to stay up very long. Our three orders didn't take even five minutes to be delivered. While you're waiting for your meal to be brought to you, that's your opportunity to hit their little fixings bar in the center so that you can customize your meal. Grab some jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, or pickle slices (they're great). There are also croutons and shredded parmesan. The breadsticks are excellent. And then lunch arrived. I had the chicken salad, which was moist and the way I make mine at home with lots of extras including walnuts and grapes. A little stone ground mustard landed on there too, but that might have been a neighboring sandwich? The melted cheese was excellent. Small pot of cole slaw was great - very crispy even if it was very wet. As for the sweet tea, it was very sweet. Consider making yourself an Arnold Palmer with some lemonade from the Coke fountain and then filling up your cup with half sweet and half unsweet. It worked well for me. And the cup is yours to take. Gary has a decent collection of them in the office. Great lunch. Would absolutely return to this one and will be keeping my eye out for other Newk's as they're in a few states. read more

Tonight we got delivery. My husband ordered the Shrimp and Avocado salad but it came with no shrimp. I ordered Newk's ultimate salad and mine had no lettuce! Just meat and a little cheese. When I called to get the shrimp, nobody answered. We won't be getting Newk's anymore. read more

I've been to Newk's since it opened up, and now go to the one in the city I live in regularly as well. Food is always good, salads are always fresh, and the atmosphere is good as well. The thing that made this Newk's stand out is the service. My fiance and I had just flown home for the holidays and had our dog with us so we sat on the patio. Before our food was out (which was fast) a server came out with a dog bowl that had water and a small bag of treats. She even offered to refill the water bowl if it went low. Great consistent fast serving food. I love that I can customize my meal with condiments readily available at the roundtable. The employees at this location are friendly and quick. If you try and go at lunch time there is usually a pretty big crowd. However, I never find the wait to be extremely long. I have yet to find a sandwich on their menu I enjoy. I have been going to Newk's for years, loved the salads, last year, 2019, the salads started getting not as good so we switched to sandwiches and was very good, went today I got the grilled steak, was the worst sandwich I had there I don't recommend that sandwich it was dry and when I went to put mayonnaise on it there was a hole and in the opposite end that was torn off, didn't know how long it had been like that so I was done eating that sandwich, on the better side the chips were fresh and tasty so when you go to Newk's get something other than the Grilled Steak. read more

I wondered on down to Newk's on Wednesday for lunch. I had never laid eyes on the menu before I was at the counter to order (big mistake) so I asked the cashier to tell me what she liked best. Of course, she starts naming everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, on the menu, stating that she likes it all. Obviously she was no help for someone as indecisive as myself. Anyway, I let another man order while I glanced over the menu. (I hate ordering like this, by the way; i'd much rather sit and read the menu for a while...). I heard the man order menu items by name without even looking at a menu, so I decided to follow his lead and order what he did. I ordered the Mediterranean Pizza. (while i waited for my order to be prepared i looked over the menu and wished i had ordered one of their salads instead. hindsight is 20/20 of course.) The pizza was pretty good. It was loaded with banana peppers, tomatoes, onions, kalamata olives and chicken. All of that was on a crispy crust. Yum. One thing that I really like about this place is that they have 3 options for iced tea: Unsweet, Sweetened with Sugar, and Sweetened with Splenda. Prices are very reasonable. I have wanted to like this place , but just don't get it. Had a white bean chili that was so watery it was just plain soup and no flavor. All the sandwiches are on the same bread, which has to be 500 calories in bread on a half-sandwich alone. And who wants COLD "grilled" chicken on a salad ? They state, " Our grill master cooks your premium cuts of chicken,steak,and salmon over flame." Then why is the chicken served cold ? We have been to Newk's Express Cafe before but have not left a review. We went today after their reopening I must say they are as good if not better than ever I had the NEW 1/2 Cuban sandwich with the side salad, which was excellent and would be appreciated in the South Miami area it was so tasty. The side salad was overflowing the bowl and I got the blue cheese dressing with it that was very tasty and the topping bar is a great for adding on extras. My wife had the NEW Shrimp Po'Boy 1/2 sandwich and small bowl of Crab- Corn Bisque. Her Shrimp Po'Boy was not typically made in the deep fried fashion but the shrimp was sautéed in olive oil and making it a lighter fresher version of a classic and the sample she gave me was very good and well seasoned. She also had the Crab / Corn bisque which is a great and very hardy soup. I'm glad Newk's Express is back open and serving quality food that tastes great and we will be back again soon. read more

Started off rough, we came in thinking it was a pizza place so we ordered a LARGE pepperoni and cheese pizza and four drinks, total came out to about $20 which we thought was a steal! Went to find a seat and found that most booths weren't cleaned off and the floor was not a pleasant sight. We only waited for about 5 minutes and then we looked up to see a server walking towards our table with what was at best a personal pan sized pizza. Went to the counter and was told that their pizza is only one size? Which the man at the counter knew that this was our first time at this place and straight up neglected to tell us (a group of 4 people) that a LARGE pizza was barely going to be the size of my hand! We had to order two more pizzas just to feed our group. Overall pizza was actually pretty good but the customer service and cleanliness of the place were not good at all. Also beware that a pizza comes with pieces of basil and chunks of tomatoes. read more

Newk's in Panama City, Florida is a very nice place to eat. They have a large fresh made to order sandwiches. Soups are very good. And exceptional unsweet tea. The Servers taking the orders have always been polite, respectful. The building is kept clean as well as thankfully the bathroom. The decor is bright and cheerful. Woo-hoo...these sandwiches are beyond awesome. Hot, fresh, tasty, gooey pressed sandwiches. On bread that makes other sandwiches jealous. (They have personal pizzas, too...and they're great, but the sandwiches are extraordinarily yummerific) They serve usual sub-shop sides, with one exception: a slightly more unique one...bacon pimento mac & cheese...it's worth writing home about...you must try it. Then go to the gym. Or a priest. The menu isn't huge, but it's by no means limited. There is something for everyone. I highly recommend trying the Pesto Chicken sandwich. Lastly, this place only gets four stars because it's a touch on the expensive side for a sandwich shop, gormet or otherwise. To me it's worth it because you can't find anything as tasty within an hours drive...call it a captive market. However, and a whole sandwich with a side is large enough to be two meals...taking the edge off the price if you're sharing a handful of items or taking leftovers to go. read more
