I simply asked if there was anything they could do, especially since I had driven an hour to get there\. Instead of trying to help or find a solution, the woman repeatedly told me, "It was your mistake," and said that because the massage therapist was already there, I would have to be charged\. When I asked if I could speak with a manager, she told me that she was the manager\. What upset me the most was not the reservation mistake\. Mistakes happen\. It was the complete lack of empathy and the way I was spoken to\. I was already anxious and explained that I wasn't feeling well, yet I was repeatedly told that it was my fault and that nothing could be done\. When I finally left, she said, "Try to have a good day, ma'am," in a tone that felt very sarcastic and dismissive\. I understand that businesses have policies, and I understand that reservations can be made incorrectly\. But customer service and empathy matter, especially when someone is explaining that they made an honest mistake, drove an hour to your business, and is physically unable to receive the service that was accidentally booked\.
