It will get hot if it's a sunny day, and if you're walking further away from the parking lot, prepare for a warmer walk. With a few good dining options inside, I think that probably would make it worthy of a return visit to The District.

Over the years, thankfully they have added one to slightly streamline outgoing traffic. In recent years they've added an exit leading into alley that leads out onto Barranca Pkwy. Very convenient for me in between my athletic sessions. + I have also picked up fruit from the Stater Bros here to share with my pickleball friends at Vets. Non-likes: - The road geography around here is a lil weird. If you're at the Valencia Ave & Tustin Ranch Rd intersection, and you somehow accidentally go north on Tustin Ranch Rd, too bad. There won't be a left turn or U-turn at Edinger Ave, because these two streets don't meet. You have to continue until you reach Walnut Ave to find a detour back. A lil inconvenient.

The important thing to know is that if you come during the holidays or on a weekend, it will be busy. The good thing is, as long as you don't mind parking on the very upper levels and walking a bit, I've always been able to find parking. But if you don't like walking at all, this probably isn't the center for you, and there's a lot of walking if you want to explore everything! What I love about this center is that you have everything from Nordstrom to Target, literally! You can find some very unique restaurants, along with typical chains, so there's something for everyone. We'll occasionally see a movie here as well, but that's another review. What impresses me the most is how well-maintained and clean everything is. Even the elevators in the parking garages are graffiti-free, which is very unusual. Now, not all the locations have maintained their interiors as well, but that's on them and not the Irvine Spectrum. My favorite time to come is still in December. We've always found the night atmosphere to have a lot of great energy. And yes, there are a lot of teens who hang around and have loud fun; they're harmless and add to the energy.

There is a significant buildup of dust, dirt, hair/lint and debris along the refrigerator case, shelves, vents and edges--right next to food that customers are expected to purchase and take home to their families. Some areas look like they have not been thoroughly cleaned in a very long time. This isn't a small spill that happened five minutes ago. The amount of accumulated dirt visible in these pictures raises serious questions about how frequently these refrigerated cases are being inspected and deep-cleaned. Target is a major national retailer, and customers should be able to expect a clean and sanitary environment, especially anywhere food is stored and displayed. I'm posting these photos because management needs to see the condition customers are seeing. I hope Target takes this seriously, inspects the entire refrigerated-food area, cleans it properly, and makes sure it is maintained going forward.

South Coast Plaza has redeemed itself form the hideous Christmas Tree they had a few years ago…read more It's still one of the nicest indoor malls in Southern California, and on a hot day, it's a nice reprise from the heat. It's rare for a mall these days to not have empty store fronts. While South Coast Plaza has a lot of "coming soon" store fronts, the store fronts that say "Some special coming soon" are very rare, and are mostly in the Macy's Home Store Wing, but even that is almost full. The one thing I had to put on the review is that South Coast Plaza has the nicest restrooms! They're almost high-end resort level. They are well kept and very clean. The garage for paper towels can sometimes overflow, but that's super minor. I don't use it, but they have a really nice family lounge as well.

I used to visit SOCO for the waffle store on the corner or the Shucks Oyster bar. Now the chocolate or red velvet cupcakes from Susiecakes draw me in. Portola Coffee is still the longstanding purveyor of fine caffeinated drinks. We Olive bar has a bevy of beverages. Palm and Patties burgers is a favorite of my foodie coworkers and me. Then we frequent Sunright, the boba tea shop.
