My favorite is the swiss chocolate store and the Le Shrimp Noodles House. It's pricey but worth it! Come check it out and bring your whole family and enjoy the trotting and photo shooting while windows shopping, you might find something when you least expected . It has a Carrousel on the first floor for kids to ride for a fee. Parking is usually available at different sides of the Mall.

Apparently coming in very casual clothes just for gelato then mall walking while admiring the shop…read moredisplays is a highly suspicion activity as my husband and I were followed by multiple security guards- including one zealous guard that followed us down a floor and across the mall then walked up on us while we sat for a few minutes to play on our phones. I have never encountered this issue in the past as I have always dressed nicely when visiting this mall and we have always in the past planned visits around getting a meal or buying some things during our mall walking, but this time we didn't want to spend much money and didn't bother to dress up which ostensibly is a huge problem to South Coast Plaza security and seemed to put a target on us. Good forbid two people who don't look rich want to enjoy a beautiful air conditioned mall on a hot day. Let this be a warning to all that you should look rich and/or visibly be actively spending money here if you want to avoid being followed.

River Street Marketplace is a development and shopping area located in San Juan Capistrano. It reminds me of the SoCo plaza in Costa Mesa but it has a pretty common vibe where there are indoor shops, outdoor seating, play areas, and restaurants. This place in particular also has some old school charms like the River Street Ranch (a petting zoo) with modern boutique shops and a food hall. It's a place to hang out when it's nice outside and it's packed with people.

A more accurate description would be "the-mall-that-accepts-anyone-as-a-tenant." I'm pretty sure the beauty supply store is a front for a money laundering operation (they are never, ever open), most of the other stores don't stay open until 8pm (and I'm not talking about just the watch/jewelry stores), and there are just a handful of random, funky places in here. All that aside - I don't really come here to "shop" - but it's a great place to mall walk. It's here that I learned mall walking was a real thing. Weekday mornings, you'll see a fair amount of retirees walking the mall, many before it opens. Not going to lie: my husband and I have turned into evening mall walkers. So, thanks, Mission Viejo for giving us a place to walk.. but not necessarily shop. Lots of parking lots surrounding the shopping center (vs Citadel where the one lot and parking structure is a hike away). Plenty of places to eat as well inside and on the perimeter. Only.negative, I arrived right at opening time.and surprised to see stores not yet opened. Opening 5-15 minutes after! Smaller stores with only .one person staffing. Guessing its the norm here. As much as I want to love the Kaleidoscope, I really liked Union Market, and I would return to this spot, just for the adorable small businesses located inside.
