Probably my favorite late night dinner place in Costa Mesa/Newport. I love ordering garlic noodles w chicken breast or pork or kbbq. I also like to order garlic chicken breast sandwich. The sandwich is 6.95 and noodle ends up around 11 dollars. Noodle definitely fills you up. I do end up still little hungry after a sandwich. But both tastes awesome, esp w their special green sauce, which is a must. I think they put garlic in the olive oil to ooze the flavor in to the oil then fry the noodle w it. So yum. The garlic shrimp noodles are really good always consistent and delicious however I've noticed they've tripled in price in the last 7 months, the noodles now $16.11, have become more expensive with every visit. I work at the Hospital here across the street and we used to enjoy eating here often. Yet now since the price spikes we've been ordering food from other places. read more

If you are in the mood for some tasty noodles and delicious popcorn chicken you have come to the right place. I had the plain garlic noodles and the sauce was delicious, but wanted a bit more garlic in mine. Next time extra garlic and sauce. The crispy popcorn chicken was crunchy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Very tasty and comes with a spicy dipping sauce that complemented the chicken well. Had a lychee green tea to wash it all down. Perfect!!! Parking is a bit difficult in this cramped strip mall that's on the northwest corner of Irvine Blvd and 17th street. However, when I stopped by again after a while to order my usual order of popcorn chicken, I became disgusted. Look at this picture. The popcorn chicken taste gummy, and it didn't have the crisp that popcorn chicken is supposed to have! It had an tofu aftertaste as well. I found Nguyen's Kitchen one night after a long shift at work. It was one of the only places open at the time of night so I decided to give them a try. Honestly, I was pretty surprised at how good it was for the price! I got the Garlic Noodles with Shrimp and I felt like the portion size was actually pretty good and the shrimp were big. I also got the egg rolls and tried some of my bf's Crawfish pasta as well. Everything was very tasty and the garlic noodles alone filled me up. I went a few days later to see if it was really that good or if i was just hungry and sure enough, I think it was really that good. The last time I went, I tried the Garlic Noodles but with the bulgogi instead of shrimp and it was soooo good. The best part about the food is that it is fresh. Most places will give you your food warm or lukewarm but I've never had a problem here. Every time I've gone, the food always came out really hot and crispy! The food also looks just like the photos so what you see is basically what you get. Aside from the good food, the employees are super cool as well. They greet you as soon as you walk in and are really friendly to everyone. Sometimes, I get nervous going to new places because it's awkward staring at the menu when there is so much to look at. At Nguyen's Kitchen, the employees are really helpful and will give you some of their favorites and recommendations based off of what kind of food you like. The only downside would be the parking on a weekend or a busy time of night. It could be difficult finding a spot with so many people coming and going in such a tiny/crowded parking lot but that's not their fault. Just a little heads up. The girl working the front, who was also answering phones taking orders really wishes she was anywhere else but there in Nguyens Kitchen. She was short on the phone and not welcoming at all in person. While I was paying, the phone rang and she literally sighed out loud and said, "ugh...again". This was my 1st time visiting this restaurant, so this definitely left a bad taste in my mouth (in more ways than one). Ordered the garlic noodles with shrimp, and the noodles were sticky and slightly overcooked. The shrimp was good, had a bit of a cajun kick to them, but they are served with the shell on...and they only serve you 5 shrimps...weak sauce. The house marinated chicken sandwich was good but only without the chicken in it...which defeats the purpose of a chicken sandwich, lol. My cousin took a bite and asked if it was pork. It just tasted weird. I wasn't a fan of the flavor, tbh. The peach tea was also not my "cup of tea"...very strong and fragrant...too strong for me. Parking here is very limited to say the least, and if the shopping area is busy...good luck trying to find a parking. I had to this place for lunch one day with a few coworkers. Everything on the menu looked so delicious...it was so hard to choose one thing and the menu, compared to most places, is pretty small. I ended up ordering the garlic noodles with grilled pork and also shared with the Cajun fries with bugolgi meat. I love that they add cilantro cause something about cilantro just makes a dish tastier (sorry for all those cilantro haters ). Although the noodles were a bit more oiler than I would've liked (what can you expect from garlic noodles?), the noodles were perfectly cooked and the pork was quite flavorful. The Cajun fries were also a nice side with the right amount of crispiness and flavor from the bugolgi meat. Co worker who is a bit of an alcoholic (sorry if you're reading this) recommend this place. Said it great because they serve super late to cater to the many other alcoholics that inhabit my neighborhood. Strangely enough, I never even noticed that bomb burger was gone. Not surprised because their burgers were NOT the Bomb. I digress. My instinct was to go with the Bahn Mi ( grilled pork sandwich) however the guy at the counter, who was quite friendly and personable, said everybody prefers the bulgogi short rib sandwich. Meat was very tender and flavorful, much like myself. Bread, often the most important ingredient, was crispy and soft. Vegetables were cool and crisp. Sauce was pretty good. Pretty stoked this place is in my backyard. Would be nicer if alcohol was available but oh well. Bathroom was adequately clean. It might be harder to find parking if the plaza is busy, but otherwise, it should be relatively easy!
