I knew this place would be good since they only serve pho. The small bowl is huge, and they give lots of meat and noodles. The broth is hot and flavorful. They also give free iced or hot tea, however, the tea flavor is not strong, and there's no sweetness. Service was kind of slow, and they don't check in on you often to refill drinks or ask if you need anything. Food is 5/5 and service is more like a 3/5. Great place to get pho if you're already at South Coast Plaza.

The noodles were really overcooked. Lost all bounce. But broth was nice. Came straight here from SNA and crashed my brother's team lunch

PHOHOLIC @ COSTA MESA It was super private and really fast to get the food, they try their best to streamline the seating but it's difficult for them since there is limited seating. I wouldn't recommend this place for big groups--but this spot is great for 1-3 people.

Online it says they open at 8am, I got there at 8:52 am and they were not open. I wasted 8 miles just to show up and restaurant was not open. Very disappointing. They need to fix their hours. I believe I should receive a free meal for the gas. I spent this morning for them not to be open SMH

The best pho I ever had, period. I also like the single window stall for customers, you get to see what they do in the kitchen. They pulled the blinders down after your food is served though so you can enjoy your meal without the fear seeing the chef in front of you. I got the number two (10/10) - The meats are cooked completely in the hot broth after they served you. The broth is delicious and warm. The noodles are chewy and not over cooked. They give generous portion of beef btw I couldn't finish the whole bowl by myself.

The South Coast Plaza location is trendy with seating similar to a Japanese ramen bar in single stalls, but there is also a back area with typical tables/seating. We came to this location because of proximity to where we were but there are some evident differences from their other OC locations closer to Vietnamese town. 1. The herbs/veggies plate is significantly smaller portion size and that's probably to prevent extra waste. You can ask for another plate of veggies that doesn't cost extra, but you'll get all the fixings as the plates seem to be premade. 2. Condiments like hoisin and sriracha are also pre-portioned out too unlike some of the locations where it's self-serve, but can ask for more. 3. See photo from the pickles onions are not thinly cut and very little pickle, which indicated to me it needed to be in the brine for longer as it was bitter to eat. Condiments are clearly important to me lol but the Pho quality it still pretty similar to other locations. The broth is a little bit lighter in flavor but the noodles were consistent, the extra side of tendon was good (although this location needs better scissors).

PhoHolic is my favorite place to eat pho. I love the #2 pho tai, chin. Unlike other places, the meat::noodle::broth ratio is perfect. There's just the right amount of everything. This place gets busy pretty quickly, but it is worth the wait. Once you're seated, you'll forget you were even waiting at all. They have tables and barstools that are separated for privacy. I really like both seating options because dining feels intimate either way. I love this place so much that I wish I could just gatekeep it, but I'll put you on. Check this place out!

First visit to this location. I ordered the #4 Pho Chin, and it was good overall. The broth was a bit different from what I'm used to--it had a noticeable cinnamon flavor that really stood out. Service was great, but they could improve on keeping water refilled. As for the ambiance, I didn't realize they had two separate sections: one with individual stall-style seating and another in the back that feels more like a traditional dine-in area.

Still impressed by how quickly and efficiently the staff are able to move you in and out of the restaurant. PhoHolic near Bloomingdale's is a great spot if you're short on time and want a comforting bowl of pho. The broth was just as flavorful as I remembered but this time, the wide noodles were a bit softer than I like. Ambiance is casual and I saw that they added a call button for service, but the staff is usually so quick you likely won't need this. Thank you for a quick and yummy meal!

Quite frankly, the pho here is so good that nothing else really matters. Parking is a pain, there's usually a wait, and the service is very "chop, chop," but it's all worth it the moment that bowl of pho arrives. Portions are generous, and everything tastes like it's healing your body and soul: the broth, the noodles, and the meat. Phoholic holds my #1 spot in OC (I sometimes daydream about it)...

    1. The pho was comforting and delicious! I really like options! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! It is part of a food court! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! Food was ready in less than 10 mins! 4. There are only indoor seatings! There are tables and counters! 5. Parking lot is huge! Very easy to find parking! Note: I did not check if this spot has their own restrooms, but there is a restroom area nearby! Photo: Water and Pho Tai

Of all the local PhoHolic locations, this is my preferred one. It is located in Collage, the food dining hall at Bloomingdale's in SCP. They have individual seating or tables in the back. Sometimes I crave pho but not a whole bowl so we will split it and order extra noodles on the side. I noticed that as takeout, it's only $2 but when dining in, the charge is $3 because it comes with additional broth. Business hours here are 11 AM to 10 PM daily.

First time visiting here at South Coast Plaza. Really love the concept of "single dining" in your little cubby. Service was FAST. Your order appears minutes after ordering. There's a little call button when you need assistance. Otherwise they leave you alone while you eat. Ordered #4 pho brisket. Some of the meat was a little tough and hard to bite. The broth was very good. Very flavorful and I chose the flat wide noodles and they were delicious. Huge bowl of broth to sip and it comes with extra onions, bean sprouts, mint, lime on the side. Will definitely come again. They are located on the lower level of Bloomingdale's.

There is a bit of a wait but that is NO problem for a restaurant so small with such quality. Upon walking in, the wood frames and large poster signage boasting of their handmade noodles will entice you, but it's really the smell of their dashi broth in the air that gets you. Of course we got the karaage; I was JUST thinking about the best karaage I had in Japan as I ordered it, wondering if it would compare. It did. Piping hot with juices that exploded in your mouth and burned your tongue. It was perfect. I personally loved it just with a squeeze of lemon on top and the seasoning was also... just amazing. Everything about their shabu shabu soba blew my mind. I personally was craving soba so they substituted it for a dollar. Definitely worth it because WOW their soba was tender, slightly sweet, and seriously was on par to the same exact dish I had in Japan, a niku soba. I also tried their udon noodles. It was so bouncy and chewy and not at all overcooked. I kind of liked the very firm and chewy bite to them, slightly slightly undercooked because as you eat it, the noodles will become softer. That is my preference and they did it here. Their dashi broth was slightly sweet and very umami, yet light at the same time. I couldn't get enough. They also do not charge for hot barley tea here! I wanted to eat more, but my stomach was quickly expanding and I had to take the rest home and it healed me just as much as it was fresh. I will be back very soon.

Comes w spicy/ sweet sauce, but I think it's good by itself. Salmon skin salad, delicious subtle Asian style dressing, nicely toasted salmon, pickled onions/carrot and greens. Overall I'd definitely say Meiji is a must try. We actually went back because my wife wanted to try the steak udon, which she said was phenomenal.
