Frankly I wasn't expecting much given that it's a quick service option located in an airport, but the spring rolls were even better than the ones I had at their sit down restaurant in Fountain Valley. The portions were much bigger, more flavorful, and I love how they warmed the sauce. The crunch in the Grilled Pork Spring Roll was literal perfection. For $10, it was definitely worth it. This will now be my go to spot for food at John Wayne airport.
Of all the choices in SNA in the morning, I'm glad that this is one of the options! Instead of heavy fried food, imagine biting into a fresh, light, and crunchy roll in the AM. Pair that with their coffee, you are good to go! Located between Terminal C and B, Brodard Express caters to travelers that venture through the halls of SNA. Staffs are super friendly and engaging which made it extra special. They also carry additional items such as banh mi's (Vietnamese sandwiches) and noodle dishes. But we all know why we want to visit here.. their Pork Spring Rolls. Around the area, there are plenty of seating for your quick casual bite. They are organized and efficient which helps for those who are on the go. One world of caution, it it a bit more expensive than their typical prices due to being in the airport. But, I would gladly pay for option. Also, though they don't open until 7am, talk to the staff if you want something simple. They most likely will accommodate you :)
For an Asian person, this would be a perfect place for snack and meal to eat while waiting 'n for the flight. They are well known in little Saigon and well established with the rolls so it's definitely a staple place to enjoy good foods. You can either order on line, kiosk or with the cashier. Overall, the foods are good and consistency. Nice & friendly service. Good and clean area and they have shared seating area.
Even though I had been well aware of Brodard's spot inside of John Wayne, I made a point of not coming here until I got to visit one of their actual restaurant locations. I know it might sound a little snooty, but, based on what I had heard from friends, part of me worried/figured that their famed Nem Nuong Rolls weren't going to be as good here. Now that I've been, those thoughts may be true, but only by the thinnest of margins! Located in the food court in Terminal B, this Brodard is obviously set-up differently than their restaurants. By comparison, the menu here is narrower, but it still has plenty to offer, including a variety of rice bowls, vermicelli bowls, banh mi, and, of course, their famed spring rolls. However, as their name suggests, everything is catered towards travelers on the go. Not only do they open early (7am) and offer a bunch of breakfast options (breakfast banh mi, breakfast spring roll, coffee, etc.), but they also have a bunch of their rolls prepackaged in to-go containers so folks can easily grab them on the run (the only reason why these aren't quite as good). -- BREAKFAST SPRING ROLLS (Bo Bia) - Vietnamese Sausage (Lap Xuong) and Egg Wrapped in Rice Paper with Veggies, Shallots, and Peanuts with Plum Sauce...$8.95 Ehh. Not "bad" per se, but their Nem Nuong Roll is way better. While the slice of sausage seemed fairly large, it was cut a little thin and I didn't care for the texture of the scrambled egg. Still, props for the creativity, even if this was more okay than amazing. -- HOUSE SPECIAL RICE BOWL with Charbroiled Prawns, Pork, and Crispy Egg Roll...$19.95 Pretty solid, especially for airport food. While neither the shrimp nor the pork had any char on it, and despite how the latter was a bit lean, both were well seasoned and the egg roll was decently crispy. Plus, I thought the overall portion size was pretty fair, too! -- BRODARD GRILLED PORK SPRING ROLLS (Nem Nuong) - Grilled Pork Patty Wrapped in Rice Paper with a Crispy Roll, Mint, Carrot, Daikon, and Cucumber with Brodard Sauce...$8.95 My favorite Brodard's roll and this one didn't disappoint. I loved how juicy and meaty the grilled pork was and how the crispy rice paper added a nice bit of crunch. Dip/pour on some of their Brodard sauce and you get a mouthful of deliciousness! Being that it's located inside of an airport, it's to be expected that the prices here are generally higher than either of their regular locations and at most other Vietnamese restaurants. However, aside from their banh mi, which definitely felt a bit steep, the prices actually aren't terribly high (the Nem Nuong Roll is about $2 more here). Plus, when you consider how convenient it is to pick up some rolls here to bring home, I'm more than okay with paying the extra couple of bucks to get them as fresh as I can before my flight!

Vietnamese food at an airport in America?! And is it good? It sure is. Might be better than many restaurants too Did not get the chance to get Brodard in Garden Grove during our trip but was able to seize the opportunity at the airport location before our flight Food was really good! The famous pork spring rolls were phenomenal and the chicken rice bowl was light, aromatic, and filling The steak banh mi was good but the bread did feel a bit stale (maybe not as fresh since this was 7 AM)? Would have loved to have some Vietnamese dessert (eg Che Ba Mau) too but that may be asking too much for airport diner. Overall if you're looking for some light, fresh, delicious food before your flight then this is a place worth trying!
I have to admit, as much as I trust my fellow Yelpers, when I read about people visiting John Wayne/Orange County airport just to eat here, I was doubtful. But after the breakfast I just enjoyed on my way home (flying out this morning), no doubt exists any longer. The croissant breakfast sandwich (egg, green pepper, cilantro, slender carrots) was perhaps the best breakfast sandwich I've had in months--such flavor and quality, especially in the croissant! And the Vietnamese coffee was on point--I got the hot, normal sweetness version--and is about to convert me from my black-only coffee days. Don't miss this delightful and delicious food.

Usually, whenever I fly out of SNA airport, I always make it a point to pick up a bahn mi from Brodard Express for the flight home. The sandwiches are great and never disappoint. This time, I decided to also try an order of eggroll because I had a craving. I was so excited for my eggrolls and had to eat it prior to boarding my flight. Little did I realize that paying $7.50 for the order only came with two little eggrolls smaller than the size of my pinky. I was disappointed. I won't be ordering the eggrolls ever again. Their bahn mi's are good and I also enjoyed the honey ginger tea. They put real bits of ginger in the tea which I thought was great and helped give my immune system a little boost before getting in an enclosed aircraft for my flight.
The best airport food, ever. What's not to like? Brodard at the airport is as good as it gets. I always go for their pork rolls and a combo bowl (can select rice or vermicelli). And if you have extra room, get a Vietnamese coffee.
Quick service. Jasmine tea is unsweetened and strongly flavored. Have gotten their rolls before abd they're amazing-crunchy, filled with veggies and protein.
Not bad for airport food. I had the pork bahn mi, and Thai tea, hubby had the beef bahn mi. Good flavor on both, a bit on the dry side, but still was filling enough for lunch while we waited for our flight. Gal taking orders was cordial, she suggested the pork bahn mi to me. It was right across from our gate, and there were plenty of seating.
Second time dining at Brodard Express and I was not disappointed. They used to open later, so I was happy that they opened at 6:30am on a Saturday. Food took some time (7-10 minutes) since it's made to order. It's a great place to enjoy a nice warm meal before or after your trip. * House Special Bowl 5/5 - You can get this with rice or vermicelli. The bowl came with grilled pork, 2 shrimps, an egg roll, diced cucumber, lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon, fried shallots, and green onions. Everything was flavorful and tasty. The shrimps were especially good with a nice char. The egg roll was hot and crispy. * Jasmine Ice Tea Lychee Infused 5/5 - Super refreshing. Not too sweet or sour. Best spot for airport food post security at SNA! Their noodles are the best, and you can customized it via the iPad ordering tablet. The rice roll is also good, though next time I'd get it without the crunch. They call out your name when the order is ready, so be prepared to listen for it, as it can be hard to hear when it gets noisy. There are not a lot of tables around the area. read more

No Priority Pass Lounge at John Wayne means settling for airport food. Luckily for us, they had a Brodard Location and it didn't disappoint. While I already love spring rolls, the grilled pork with the added crunch made this chef's kiss. This location is easy and fast- Perfect to grab a bite and be on your way to your Gate. Veggies were fresh and I couldn't have been more content with how it all tasted. They had adequate seating and when I asked for a rag to wipe off the table, the gave me one. Apparently, the airport janitorial staff hadn't come around in a while and the table needed to be cleaned. I also added a Vietnamese coffee to our order and I had to restrain myself from only having a few sips. I don't handle Vietnamese coffee well even though I absolutely love the taste of it. Thank goodness for friends who take all my leftovers no questions asked. Definitely check this place out if you're at SNA. Solid food. read more

Brodard never misses. Flew out of SNA & was pleasantly surprised to see they had Brodards express. I got my go-to order, the nem nuong (Grilled Pork Rolls), they usually serve three rolls but this had two. The dipping sauce with sambal is chef's kiss. Delicious right before our flight!! read more

Located between Terminal B and Terminal C of John Wayne Airport. It's a nice addition to the food court area. Whenever my daughter and I tried to catch a plane out to Bay Area to visit grandma in the evening, this place is one of our favorites for dinner. It's good food but also pricey. Portion is generous. I've tried their spring rolls (my favorite), pork rice bowl, and beef rice bowl. It's nice option for dinner so we won't arrive hungry especially flights get delayed occasionally. read more
The nem nuong brodard grilled pork spring rolls are a must order if you decide to eat at brodard express. It's quick and easy to eat, I came on a Sunday morning around 630am, no line, the order came out super quick. The veggies in the roll are fresh, I love the crispy inside of it, the meat perfectly season and the dipping sauce is so delicious. Definitely a must try if have never tried brodard nem nuong brodard grilled pork spring rolls. Price wise its $9 for 2 rolls, a little pricey but hey its airport price with outside restaurants quality. read more

I love having the option of Brodard at SNA, it is my favorite Vietnamese spring roll. Unfortunately since it is not prepped on site it doesn't have the same freshness and crispiness as going to the original location in Little Saigon but I am very grateful to even have it as a choice in SNA. The spring rolls are very portable and perfect for traveling. The staff is friendly and provided napkins and utensils. It is located in the food hall area between Terminal B and C with plenty of seating. read more
I was so happy to see that Brodard Express opened a location inside John Wayne Airport. Yes, the prices are higher than the regular restaurant--airport pricing is expected--but it's such a relief to have a quality food option that isn't Carl's Jr. or McDonald's. The food quality is pretty much on par with the restaurant, which I really appreciated. My only downside was with the nem nướng. I wish it were made fresh to order like it is at the restaurant, rather than pre-made and stored in plastic containers for grab-and-go. That said, it's still nice to have the option while traveling. This location also carries macarons, just like the restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise and a great little treat before a flight. read more
So happy to have a Brodard's at my local airport. Finally had the time to sit down and grab it for dinner while waiting to board our flight. Best choice ever. The spring rolls were the same quality as they make it outside of the airport. My boyfriend got the vermicelli and that was really good, while my friend got a bahn mi. I was very impressed by the bahn mi! Wait was about ~15 min and there's ample of seating in this food court area. read more

I love brodard's spring rolls. At home in Hawaii, they would be called summer rolls because they are wrapped in rice paper and NOT deep fried. Inside there is protein and fresh veggies and sometimes noodles. What makes brodard's rolls special is that they put a fried rice paper wrapper inside to make it crunchy, no noodles and have this delicious ground pork sauce that is so addicting. I like both the grilled shrimp paste rolls and the grilled pork rolls. I first tried the rolls at one of their other locations, but I found out they opened an express counter in the John Wayne airport so I knew I had to go when I flew through SNA. The counter is located in the little food court area near gate 13. It's in the middle of the terminal. Even though I landed at gate 1, it was not too far of a walk. John Wayne airport is actually pretty great for fast food options all in one terminal. I love it. There was a short line at the Brodard counter. The cashier was nice and efficient. I ordered the two rolls and a green Thai tea with sea salt foam and boba. Everything was just as I remembered. The Thai tea was cool, but very rich and I heard a hard time finishing it. They have other iced tea drinks that I would get next time, but when ever I sea green Thai tea, I like to get it. To try. The rolls are about $9 per order for two rolls and the dipping sauce. It actually isn't too much more expensive than the rolls I get at home. The drink was a bit pricey, but again, not bad considering it's an airport and kind of a novelty. I would choose to fly through SNA again to get Brodard. It's good :) read more

Hands down the best airport food ever! It makes me so happy to see Vietnamese food being represented at SNA. Prices are definitely inflated (2 grilled pork spring rolls for 8.95 as opposed to 6.00 at their restaurant) but everything is at the airport. The rolls tasted freshly made and the egg roll was crispy. However, I do feel like their shrimp sauce has lost some of its original flavor. I don't think this is specific to the express spot but at their restaurants as well. Regardless, this is still the best spot for food at SNA. read more
Quick and easy, food was okay. Better for an airport, bust nothing special. Food: I got the pork spring roll. It was a 3/5 at best. The meat was good, but the sauce that came with it tasted almost like nothing. The price for it also isn't worth. Costed about $9.90 after tax Service: Quick and easy. Nothing out of the ordinary. Ambiance: there was a seating area in front of the store front, limited and busy when I was there. Overall: don't expect anything spectacular! just a little better than airport food, busy same standard and cost. read more
For once, I wasn't sad to have a layover from Mexico after a long weekend of drinking. Friendly, fast service, efficient ordering process, delicious food.... All the things you absolutely need while hungover - or any time, really. I ordered 2 spring rolls and 1 edamame dumplings. The total was about $33. Ok steep for spring rolls but they're very high quality! Plus we're at the airport. From now on, I wont be sad to layover here. If you can choose your domestic flight's layover airport and OC is one of them, you know which to choose! read more

It was our first time flying out of SNA, and now I want to use this airport every time just because of Brodard Express! Having an authentic local Vietnamese spot inside the airport instantly reminded me of traveling through airports in Asia with amazing food options. Located in a small food court between T3 and T2 near Gate 15, we grabbed some favorites: I got a strong Vietnamese coffee for a much needed morning pick-me-up, my go-to nem nuong spring rolls, and a tasty flan tart. My husband went with the grilled veggie banh mi, loaded with eggplant, mushrooms, and tofu. Even though we're not vegetarians, it was one of the best veggie sandwiches we've ever had. Yes, it's an "airport price" at $15 for a banh mi, but surprisingly, this veggie option isn't even on the menu at their regular locations. So you can imagine our disappointment when we returned through SNA as international arrivals and couldn't grab it again. From now on, Brodard Express is the spot for me whenever I'm flying out of SNA. read more

I consider this spot a treat whenever I fly out of John Wayne airport. The menu is extensive but I simply cant resist their spring rolls. Shrimp, sausage, shrimp paste and what may be my new favorite, the rib eye. I like the rice noodles that usually come in the rolls but the rib eye roll has a great balance of savory and fresh crunch. There's always sauces that come with the rolls but theyre so tasty, I've never needed any. For anything they have to cook fresh, the wait isnt long. Obviously its a quick casual spot, with tables available for those who have the time. read more
I am so happy that Brodard is located in the Santa Ana Airport! It makes for a great lunch or dinner before a trip or it makes a great gift for the people that I'm going to visit! It is on the pricier side than their stand alone restaurant in Fountain Valley. But if you want something familiar and delicious then this place is definitely the place for you. My usual dish that I get there is the Nam nuong cuon and their combination vermicelli noodles. So delicious and refreshing! And they make everything so quickly! read more
Back from vegas and wanted some pork rolls and ice coffee. I used the kiosk to order, i guess the crunchy eggroll shell they put in the pork springroll is an added cost, wow. The price for two ice coffee and pork springroll felt like i was in vegas but i guess thats the airport price you pay. Not worth it, springroll was ok, my drink was ok, my son didn't like his drink at all and he loves Vietnamese ice coffee. What a waste of monay, quality should be the same as the restaurant. read more

As a big fan of Brodard, particularly their spring rolls, I was excited and surprised to see they have a small restaurant in John Wayne. I happened to be departing from the same terminal, and wanted to bring some along with me. I was able to place an online order so that by the time I got through security and came to the restaurant, they served me right away. I got the grilled shrimp and pork, which are their sausage spring rolls. I actually don't end up eating them until hours later, but they still tasted very fresh. The only thing I noticed that was off was that the rolls were missing the signature chives sticking out the end. They may have been inside and I just didn't notice, but besides that everything was up to standard with just very small quality/presentation differences if any. read more
A good review about Brodard Express popped up on my feed the same day I was going to be flying out. I have been to the Fountain Valley branch and loved it so seeing a good review about an airport branch was hopeful but I wasn't going to go out of my way to look for it. Besides, it 8am and I wasn't hungry anyway. Got to my gate and have about 30 min to kill so I decided to get some steps in before boarding time. Well, what do you know? Brodard Express appeared right at the end of the corridor! It's 9:30 am and a banh mi sounds good for breakfast! Hahaha. The menu is limited but lots of options: banh mi, rolls, vermicelli bowls, and some desserts. The price point isn't bad considering you're at the airport. The portion sizes are similar to what you'd get at the restaurant. Luckily for me, there were no lines and I walked right up the clean counter. Make sure you have time and don't miss your flight because there was still bit of a wait as they prepare your food. Don't worry, it's worth it. I ordered: Berkshire Pork Banh Mi - So good! Same size and flavor as the restaurant's. Eggplant Tempura Rolls - Just like the one at the restaurant!!! I love these rolls. They're my ultimate favorite and I cannot find these in the Bay Area. Bottom Line Up Front: Get a taste of authentic Vietnamese food before you take flight -- just be prepared to pay a premium. (We've eaten at Brodard's other locations before, but this review will focus on its food-to-go shop at John Wayne Airport.) The Food: Hands down, Brodard makes the bes nem nuong. Period. Growing up in a Vietnamese family, I've eaten lots of nem nuong (spring roll with grilled pork sausage) all over the world, from Canada and the US to Vietnam herself. Still, Brodard's nem nuong is hard to beat. Why? It comes down to the delicious, soft sausage perfectly balanced against fresh greens and crispy egg roll skin (the latter being an uncommon ingredient in spring rolls). Plus, the dipping sauce is unique and tasty. We also has the house vermicelli bowl, which always satisfies. It's not the best in class, but Brodard always serves it up with a solid mix of noodles, grilled pork, prawns, egg roll, and veggies. Note: There were only 2 prawns and 1 tiny egg roll, which seems to be much fewer than given at their regular sit-down restaurant in Fountain Valley. The Service: Our cashier was friendly, fast, and competent -- which is a pleasant surprise for an Asian eatery. If you've been to enough of them, you know that customer service is lacking; it's just a part of the culture. (And I say this as someone who is Vietnamese.) But I'm glad to see Brodard management trains their employees to exceed (Asian) expectations. The Setting: It's located in between Terminal B and C of the airport, near other restaurants and the restroom, which is a convenient location. As a cafeteria-style area, there are various tables and chairs shared with the other shops. It was relatively clean with a welcoming atmosphere. The Cost: Here's where the complaint comes in. While the flagship Brodard location isn't cheap, the prices at this airport shop are significantly higher when you factor in the quantity you get. The nem nuong costs almost $9 for two rolls, basically $4.50 a single roll! (If I'm eating it as my main entree, I need to eat 4 rolls to get full.) That price is probably 25% to 40% more than the Fountain Valley location. The Conclusion: While the prices have crazy markups when compared to their the sit-down locations, this location provides a much needed shot of authentic Vietnamese food to John Wayne Airport. If you're tired of McDonald's, Carl's Jr, and other hohum franchises, and you don't mind the exorbitant airport prices, grab Brodard's nem nuong. You won't regret it. read more
