Lately I've been exploring Vietnamese food and when I looked at Nguyen's Kitchen's menu, I was intrigued by some of their menu items, so I decided to go check them out. I was meeting my foodie friend there at 12:30. The parking lot has limited space, which made it an extra challenge to park. Thankfully I only had to circle the block once to come back and snag a spot. (Meanwhile, my friend got there before me and was already enjoying an appetizer). Orders are placed at the counter and they call your number once your food is ready. The dining room consists of mostly booth seating with one "communal" table, and counter seating with 5ish chairs. There are also a handful of tables set outside. I've really been enjoying banh mi and their Bulgogi beef sandwich sounded great. I also happen to have a thing for popcorn chicken, so I got an order of that to round out my lunch. Oh, and based on the rave reviews I've read about their peach & lychee green tea, I ordered one of those as well. Let me just say, lunch was very satisfying! The sandwich was generously filled the fresh ingredients and the meat to veggie ratio was perfect. I'm not sure what the green sauce was that they finished the sammie off with but it was SO tasty!! I requested the popcorn chicken with medium heat and it was just spicy enough to leave my tongue tingling slightly. My friend saved an egg roll for me and it was also really good. (The tea by the way was very refreshing.) Now, this was my first time here but I never saw anyone come out to check the dining room or wipe down the tables after the lunch rush. This was especially concerning to me because they had a guy doing work on the windows who put his feet/ shoes on the tables right under said windows. Ewww. But aside from the parking challenge and the table hygiene/cleanliness, our visit was quite enjoyable and the food was very good. I really like this place, especially because they're open late and have such good food for those late-night cravings! We got the garlic noodles with bulgogi steak, and it was SO good. The steak was super tender, and the sauce was really flavorful. I also loved the garlic noodles--you could definitely taste the garlic, but it wasn't too overpowering, and everything paired really well together. I also got the Peach Lychee Green Tea, which was really refreshing and went perfectly with the food. Overall, I had a great experience and I'm already excited to come back and try more of the menu. Came for a late-night meal as usual! This place was a great option since it's open until very late. Parking was a bit of a challenge since the lot is small, but some of us were able to find parking in adjacent lots or on the street. Once you walk in, there's seating along the edges and a counter where you place your order. It's a very small and cozy spot. Once you order, the cooks call your number when your food is ready. I went for the garlic noodles with bulgogi. You also have the option to add Parmesan cheese for free, which was cool! The flavor was very garlicky, as advertised, but not too overpowering. The sauce they give on the side has quite a kick, so I'd be cautious if you're sensitive to spice. I loved the variety on the menu and was pleasantly surprised to see a bit of Korean fusion in some of the dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meal and had a great time. I'd come back! :-) read more

I was SO disheartened when the Nguyens kitchen by my house closed down a few years back, I mean what other place has plenty of seating, open until 2am, and makes amazing food that isn't your normal fast-food chains? I mean it's this place right here, and I was so glad to visit this location in Orange, absolutely nothing changed from the old location. My go to and possibly the best item in the menu is the bulgogi short rib steak bahn mi. It's extremely tender, it's not dry there's tons of juice, the pickled vegetables add the freshness you need and the cilantro with the little spike at the end. One of my favorite sandwiches I'm always in the mood for, and they come out pretty quick once you order. Very good turnaround. Late night bite to eat? Came here first and didn't even realize it's connected to PUR Bowls--dangerous (in the best way) because I couldn't say no to dessert after. I ordered the garlic noodle protein bowl with jumbo shrimp, and wow... the aroma alone sold me. Super flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. I got it to go, but it smelled so good I was tempted to dig in right there. Ordering was quick and easy at the register, and my food was ready in about 5-10 minutes. Parking is limited on both sides and no drive through here. A beautiful place for lunch on Saturday by the hospital. Definitely worth the drive here. When we arrived, we were able to find parking with what limited parking they have. It was around 8:30 pm. Luckily it wasn't busy when we arrived. Upon entering, we notice that it's two establishments and you can easily go to one or the other. The staff happily welcomed us after seeing us. Looking at the menu, everything seemed to peak my interest and prices were relatively affordable compared to other restaurants. We ordered the Crawfish Pasta, Popcorn Chicken, House Marinated Chicken Sandwich, and Cajun Garlic Fries. When ordering, they offered free Parmesan cheese either on top or in the side. They had drink options, and I went with a fountain drink. Crawfish Pasta: Loved that it had crawfish. It tasted pretty good. I do wish they cut up the cilantro smaller length. Overall, still a flavorful dish. House Marinated Chicken Sandwich: Honestly, I didn't expect it to be this big. Luckily we were sharing food. The marinated chicken was packed with flavor and super soft and not dry. As a veggie lover, I loved that it had pickled carrots and daikon radish. Again, would have preferred the cilantro to be cut up a little more. Bread was so soft and fluffy. The green looking sauce that each dish and sides had was also really good. All in all, sandwich was really good. Cajun Garlic Fries: For almost $6, this was quite a lot of fries. There are many places that charge $6 and you don't get that many. Fries were crispy, just enough saltiness and flavor. I really liked the fries, although I didn't notice too much of the garlic flavor. I still enjoyed the fries, especially with that sauce on the side. Popcorn Chicken: The chicken was very soft and moist, and tasted pretty good also. I love the seasoning. However, it wasn't a lot when I compared it to the amount of fries we got. But it's worth a try. I do wish they added more chicken. It was quiet at the beginning and by 10 pm, a lot of people came. It became more lively. When we left, there were a bit of cars emergency lighting. Can't blame them. Food was pretty good. I'd definitely come back. read more

A friend recommended Nguyen's Kitchen to me. She said the bulgogi garlic noodles (with fried egg) and chicken wings would change my life! I stopped by for an early dinner on my way back to San Diego last weekend. My friend and I each got the bulgogi garlic noodles (I added the egg but for $2.50 not sure it added a lot of flavor or value to the dish), shared the wings and an order fries. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee on the cashier's recommendation--good suggestion, nice flavor without an overpowering amount of sugar. The wings were fantastic. Fries were fair, good portions and flavorful. I liked the noodles but weren't blown away. Everything was very soft, not a lot of textural change. The portion was generous with lots of bulgogi beef. The service was great--friendly and responsive. They have a small lot which was fine at 530pm on Sunday but probably problematic at lunch or normal dinner hours. My one complain was dirty dining room. Maybe it was just after the lunch rush, but the tables and floor could have used some wiping and the trash cans were full. Today I visited your restaurant at approximately 2:21 PM. My ticket number was 056, and I ordered the chicken breast with garlic noodles. I specifically asked the cashier to have the cook cut the chicken into small pieces. When I got home and opened my meal, I was very disappointed to find that it was loaded with mushrooms and contained very little chicken. According to your menu description, the garlic noodles are described as: "Yakisoba noodles sautéed fresh and tossed with butter & garlic. Served with your choice of protein." Can you please tell me where in this description it states that mushrooms are included? As a customer, this is concerning because some people may be allergic to mushrooms, while others simply do not like them. There was no indication on the menu that mushrooms would be part of the dish. I drove all the way home expecting the meal I ordered, only to find it inundated with mushrooms and lacking the chicken I paid for. Was the chicken intentionally replaced with mushrooms? I would appreciate an explanation and a resolution to this issue. I have a picture of the meal that clearly shows the excessive amount of mushrooms and the very small amount of chicken. A long day at Disneyland and we didn't stop anywhere before we got back to our hotel so we dashed NK - and WOW!! We ordered chicken wings, popcorn chicken, and the pork noodles, and it was perfection! Everything came quick and looked just like the photos on the menu. You know what you're getting which is important, but even better, it tasted incredible! The portions were generous as well, my husband and I shared. Another important fact, it was kid friendly because my 2.5 yo almost ate all the grilled pork! He loved it too! Disneyland is always fun, and we're going another day. I tried this place because it had a ton of favorable reviews and had been on my "mega try" list for a while. Okay, I'm here, now as Yelpies can relate to, the toughest decision of the day...what do I order? I was solo, so no sharing my top 2. I had to pick one. I literally stood there awkwardly staring at the overhead menu and anxiously staring over my shoulder for people behind me. I was craving something full of flavor, so I went with the cashier's favorite -- the grilled pork bowl. BINGO. Tender teriyaki pork pieces, perfect soft rice, the grilled jalapeño sauce (hands down must do), and crisp cucumber slices and carrot shavings that balanced everything perfectly. Not heavy, super favorable, Just bomb. I came in craving real flavor, and this hit exactly right. Super fresh, super tasty and the food was genuinely delicious -- worthy of the hype. Walking out I spied on other tables choices, Bulgogi fries, some fried chicken pieces - yum! I'm coming back, the only question is when....tomorrow? And what do I try next? After arriving in Anaheim California from Las Vegas on a Wednesday evening around 9:30 P.M. for the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon, my husband and I looked for restaurants open in the area. There weren't many restaurants open that late, but Nguyen's Kitchen was and it was only a mile away from our hotel! When we arrived there, it was very busy. The parking lot was difficult to maneuver around, but luckily we were able to back our vehicle into a parking spot. The restaurant space has two restaurants, but Nguyen's Kitchen entrance is off to the left. Nguyen's Kitchen is a Vietnamese restaurant. There are several locations in Southern California, but the one we went to was in Anaheim. The menu offers a wide range of dishes from noodle bowls, rice bowls, signature sandwiches, sides like popcorn chicken, slider burgers, and so much more! I was really excited to try out the Bulgogi Steak Garlic noodle dish. My husband got the Bulgogi Short Rib Steak Sandwich which included cucumber, pickled carrots, daikon, cilantro and a side sauce. The order was ready in about 10 minutes! It was super fast! I haven't had garlic noodles like this in a long time. It was so flavorful! The beef bulgogi was super tender and there was so much bulgogi in the dish! There was just the perfect amount of garlic in the noodles. The restaurant hours are typically open from 9:00 A.M to 2:30 A.M (next day). On the weekends, it does open a bit later in the morning. The service is fast! The seating is limited inside, but when we had arrived around 10:00 P.M, there were a few seats available inside. The food is great here! If you're visiting Anaheim California and looking for an alternative place to the theme park restaurants, you should try out Nguyen's Kitchen. It was really cool watching the chefs make your food right in front of you The popcorn chicken was so fresh and crispy and perfectly seasoned like the traditional Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The pasta has chunky crawfish, spicy sausage, house tomatoes, and cream marinara sauce. This has a slightly smokey flavor from the sausage, and the crawfish didn't taste too fishy. When my husband and I took a bite, our eyes lit up because we didn't think it would be this tasty! Of course keep in mind that this dish is pretty oily/buttery, but I loved the sauce and the texture of pasta was still al dente (not soggy) I definitely and highly recommend for those who like a seafood pasta! Came here to eat twice, within a month, after work. My co workers and I came here because they stay open pretty late. Tried their Chicken Bahn mi, Garlic Noodles, and Crawfish Pasta. The sauce was very rich, slightly spicy, and flavorful. I also love how it comes with sausage since it gives the pasta even more flavor. Overall, really great dish! I like that they are open late and I have never really tried any of the other dishes besides the crawfish pasta before today. For future visits, I think I will stick to the crawfish pasta because I didn't enjoy the beef bowl or the sandwich.
