I really want to like this place. It's in a great location at the original Chattanooga Choo-choo depot. Their offering for Burger week was called Bat Out of Hell Smashburger. It's a meatloaf burger with mashed potatoes, gravy and fried onion straws.....another reason I to wanted this to work, I love meatloaf and mash potatoes. Unfortunately, it didn't though, and the primary driver was the overall experience, which became such a negative detractor. Unlike some of the participants where the number of guests might have temporarily overwhelmed the kitchen, the staff here just seemed disinterested, and so their guests just seemed to wait forever, just to get their burger. Over a thirty minute wait is obscene and others waited longer. It was as if you ordered the burger, you were destined to wait as other food products were being served at other tables. In all honesty I would like to award 2.5 stars, but since half stars are not an option, I graded up, based upon the location. read more

We had a bit of difficulty finding a handicapped ramp for entry but I am not shy and asked, and someone came out to show us the way.Our Waitress was absolutely excellent! We were five, and 3 of us tried some of their home brew hard cider, nice! a gluten-free menu was available, so happy no problems whatsoever with my husband's celiac disease. It was my first time in Chatt, and I had to try Nic and Normans. I was fan of TWD so there was no way that I couldnt! The food was good, it was nothing out of the box. It was well beyond bar and diner food. Burgers and such. I had the bacon cheese burger, a flatbread, and the nachos with a side of brussel sprouts. Everything was pretty decent. The nachos (the didnt use regular chips) were great and I wanted to keep eating lol. The burger was good, cooked medium (even had the brand on the burger bun). Sprouts and everything else was just pretty okay. The ambience was dope, they had a lot of arrow and motorcycle themed things in the building, which was great to see (because of TWD). Nic & Norman's is a great spot to experience live music and great drinks immediately adjacent to the historic Choo Choo and Chattanooga sign. You want to go here if you'd like a chill place for a nightcap. It's a low key bar with incredibly talented musicians performing often just outside the bar. Late on my review, but none the less worth it! Boyfriend and I had planned date night in January, I had just finished TWD and was itching to try it out! Unfortunately we didn't get to get down there till about 8:15pm and closing time was 9. They were pretty dead but welcomed us happily! Sat down at our table and was told our server would be with us shortly, unfortunately 10 minutes has went by and no one had come by. The hostess saw we still had nothing on our table and quickly went to get a server, who more than likely took on our table because the other didn't show up. ( my boyfriend and I, coming come from restaurant we understand how it goes, especially on a Sunday night) Samantha was fabulous! Kept our drinks full and was very attentive the entire time! While staying at the Choo Choo we visited on a Friday evening as the restaurant is on-site. Upon arriving we were informed table seating was reservation-only until 8:30 PM but the bar area was open seating, so we sat at the bar. The service was good but the hamburgers were excellent! Very fresh meat cooked exactly as ordered. We ordered the classic burger, bacon pimento cheese burger (highly recommend) and a turkey burger. Regular fries and sweet potato fries were also good. Came here because of convenience and my partner was getting hungry late in the evening. He ordered a cheese burger and fries and strawberry fields cocktail which was tasty. Burger wasn't as flavorful but cooked well and thick so overall still good. I ordered app sampler because I wasn't as hungry but it's a generous portion so wished we come here earlier in the day to really enjoy the food but I was full pretty quickly. I had Mac and cheese and both kinds of fries (regular and sweet potato). I love sweet potato and thankfully they were cooked well. I did notice after I was already full that some at the bottom of the pile were a bit soggy but everything I ate was crisp and delicious so no fault on that. I also liked the Mac and cheese. It was more of a pasta dish than what I consider Mac and cheese because the components didn't seem as "together" but still very tasty compared to other places we've tried this trip. And I had a That Bitch which was good, too. We came during a mustache crawl event so I don't know if it was due to that or a normal 9 PM thing to have live entertainment but it was a great vibe, good food and cool drink options so will return on an empty stomach to enjoy on our next trip. read more

It was a beautiful evening to sit on the outside patio. We received wonderful attention from Tristen who explained the menu and the many questions our table of six had. Several of us had the lobster bisque while the others enjoyed the chili. The bisque was velvety and the chili was hearty and severed with cornbread. Mexican Burger, Pesto Chicken, Brisket BBQ Flatbread were some of the items we ordered. Everyone enjoyed their choices but I really liked my Mexican burger. It came with melted queso cheese and avocado served on a slightly toasted bun. Choice of regular or sweet potato fries. For a dollar more I got a salad with feta and candied pecans. Super yummy! I love the space of this restaurant. It's old and new at the same time. I started the meal with fried pickles. They were hot but felt flat, I was hoping for a little kick, just tasted like basic fried food that needs ranch. I had a Caesar salad with steak. I ordered medium. The steak was dry and well done. The dressing was flat as well. My husband hat the brisket and Mac & Cheese. It was heavy and very flavorful. My daughter had chicken tenders and fries. She loved the fries. My family joins us and split the steak and vegetables. They said the medium well steak was perfect and juicy. The love the space. I won't be back, but the vibe was awesome. Pickle fries: tasted great and unique. Couldn't stop eating them. Mexican burger: just an amazing combination of ingredients. The pico and avocado really added an extra boost to the veggy side of the flavors. Chicken and waffles: my picky fiancée absolutely loved this. The waffles have a great flavor, not the typical bland, pre-made/frozen waffle flavor. The chicken and potatoes are great too. The service was great, attentive and had refills ready without asking. We ate here before catching a show downtown and wasn't sure what to expect. The atmosphere was great and really kept the feel of the Choo Choo, nothing over the top. The food was good, not great. We shared fried mozzarella for the table and most pieces were missing cheese. My pesto chicken flatbread was good, wasn't warm and my sister's burger was over cooked. 10/10 don't recommend. Food was delivered and when we cut into the kids salmon we ordered for our son, it was raw. We waited for our server to check on us which, spoiler alert, never happened. The fish sandwich was good but not at all worth the price. The Mexican burger was cooked how I wanted and was good but the condiments were almost none existent, I think I had one bit with pico, and the avocado just made the whole thing seem bland. Great area but I can't say I'd recommend this place if you want something original or a wow factor during your vaca. read more

The nachos were basically just covered in bbq sauce and imitation cheese- very little meat and the Philly fries were about the same- tons of imitation cheese and very little meat. I will start off by saying we didnt expect much. Its obviously an attraction because of who owns it. We do not care. We happened to be in town and needed a place that had vegetarian options and because we had our dogs in the car. There was an Impossibe burger on the menu, so we decided to give it a shot. The place was EMPTY. I ordered their version of a bloody mary, it was thick and sweet. I asked for Tabasco so I could add some heat to make it drinkable, but the hottest thing they had was Cholula. There is nothing spicy about Cholula. So whatever. I only make it 1/3 through my drink. We ordered the pickle fries and they are the only reason im giving 2 stars. They were pretty good. We each ordered a different burger, but both with Impossible patties. It took a VERY long time for them to come out. When they did we had to double confirm that they weren't real meat. The waitress was nice and went to the kitchen to make sure. She confirmed they make their own patties, so thats why they look the way they do, but its definitely Impossible. We each take a bite and the middle is blood red. Like, not fully cooked at all and honestly absolutely disgusting. I told the waitress I couldn't do it and I retuned my food after 1 bite. My boyfriend ate about 1/3 of his burger before he got grossed out and couldn't finish his either. The manager then came over and was very nice, but said thats how they make them, so they imitate real meat. A couple issues with that. 1. Straight up, it was not fully cooked. I'm not eating food that hasn't been heated properly. 2. I don't eat meat for a reason. I love animals and I find it repulsive. I don't want something that looks like dead flesh on my plate. 3. When you order a regular burger, they ask you how you like it cooked. Yet, my vegetarian burger comes out undercooked and looking like bloody meat. Why weren't we asked if you're going to treat it like real meat? They did take the burgers off our bill, but we still ended up paying $50 for pickle fries and 2 drinks (that we didnt even finish) and left hungry for our 3 hour drive back home. read more

I just can't pay 20$+ for an entree that would lose in a blind taste test to Chili's. It made me think "the prices are either extremely unreasonable because of the brand or they're jacked up to pay for the rent space" several times The service, however, was excellent! When I found out this place was opening I couldn't wait to try it and it didn't disappoint. I strongly recommend paying a visit to N&Ns. Is located at the choochoo hotel so there is plenty of parking available, paid parking lots, valet parking and free street parking if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks. This place is beautiful! A lot of character and history in the walls, the design, the furniture, the lighting, so this was very exciting when I first stepped in. We sat in the bar outside and I had the most beautiful view looking at what I want to believe it was Darryl's motorcycle! Lol. We started with some whiskey drinks they were delicious and had unique names to them so that was cool. The presentation of the drinks was really nice as you can see and they were pretty strong. We shared the philly cheesteak fries and OMG they were delicious, crunchy, cheese, the steak was also tender and very tasty. The pork shank was very good as well, I wish I would've gotten the corn on the side because I didn't fully care for it sweetness with the mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was great as well but the sweetness of the bbq sauce was a bit overpowering, however, the noodles were cooked to perfection so was the brisket and the cheese blend was very good! We took a lot of it home and reheated next day and it kept the freshness and flavors intact. As I mentioned in my previous reviews, good service is something that I no longer expect from anywhere. When we sat outside at the bar it was so dusty and the bartender didn't even reach to clean it, I just used a napkin and wiped it down. They didn't check with us if we needed anything through our meal, I even had to ask for silverware because our food came and we had nothing to eat it with. They also didn't even pour us a water or offer us more drinks when we finished the ones we got. Also when we were ready to leave we had to wait a long time for someone to come to give us our check and takeout boxes. The place was pretty empty so it wasn't like they were busy. read more

Nic and Norman's is owned by Norman Reedus (the actor) and Greg Nicotero (the artist) from The Walking Dead. This is their second location. The space is in the Chattanooga ChooChoo and it is a great location and is nicely done inside with a mezzanine and a bar area. There are pictures that appear to be from the show on the walls but otherwise its very sort of generically nice inside. I'm not sure if it was covid related or not but I know they were limiting capacity tonight which was opening night and doing reservations only. This worked brilliantly though for a new restaurant. I was expecting first day (really first hour) jitters but service was excellent. I think this is something all new restaurants should do. The drinks were good and the names interesting. The food was good too. Not much to complain about. I had a pimento cheese burger. Cooked perfectly to order. Excellent bacon on top. You know burger bacon needs to be perfectly crisp so that you can bite through it without withdrawing it fully from the bun. This bacon was perfect for that. The pimento cheese was drippy and messy but if your burger isn't a little bit messy you're doing it wrong. There were several other menu items I wanted to try. Maybe next time. The food was good the service was good and atmosphere was good the location was good. This is another solid good casual dining option. I feel slightly disappointed that there was nothing unique about it. I wasnt expecting it to be zombie themed but I am speaking from a culinary standpoint. The menu had a generic bent to it. Stopped in during brunch, late morning on a Saturday. Restaurant filled up quickly, we happily made it before we encountered a wait. Unfortunately the service, depth of flavor, menu options and price vs quality had us feeling underwhelmed. Staff was friendly but it seems that they may be understaffed and we didn't experience attentive or personalized service. I ordered the brisket bbq hash, the portion size was more than expected (cool!) but the sweet bbq sauce flavor overpowered the variety of flavors in the dish. Every bite was overwhelmingly sweet bbq and unfortunately....I found maybe 3 tiny tiny pieces of brisket in my dish. (see picture). My fiancé ordered the tenderloin steak & eggs, the steak was cooked nicely, they don't overdo the seasoning so you get steak flavor . I did find it weird they added a dry branded half of a burger bun on the dish. I'm not sure if that was supposed to be toast or a plate filler...? The feel of the restaurant was cool especially if you are a fan of TWD, I wouldn't mind returning to taste their lunch/evening menu but we won't be back for brunch. read more

Finally had him come by n drop off the drinks and say I'll be right back even after we said we were past ready to order... 10 minutes later... Finally came back for our order. The space itself is cool, and of course adorned with Walking Dead artwork and imagery, so what's not to love there? The menu, however, doesn't offer much to impress. There doesn't appear to be any particular culinary theme or style - just a mismatch of typical "American style" fare thrown together. We had a group of seven women, and I will say that our server Jeremy was a delight and took very good care of us. I couldn't really keep up with what everyone ordered, but two of us got the shrimp and grits, and they were tasty. My friend also got the avocado crab toast and loved it. Another friend got the flatbread - despite Jeremy warning about it - and sheesh he was right, it was downright inedible. How do you mess up a flatbread??
