We arrived in Chattanooga after a long day of traveling and were looking for a low-key meal. The ambiance of the train depot setting was relaxing and chill. The food...excellent! We enjoyed the brisket nachos and the turkey avocado burger. Unlike so many turkey burgers, this one was not at all dried out and was a flavor explosion. Our server, Abbie, was great. I ordered the fried chicken pot pie and the biscuit tasted like it was a few days old and was very hard. The chicken was pretty good but the vegetable roux was cold and very salty. Almost tasted like it had been frozen and they thawed it in the microwave. The others in my party didn't complain or rave about their food so I guess it was just ok. TLDR; this place is a tourist trap with food that is on par with a Hard Rock Cafe or similar chain establishment. If you're looking for a quality local place, this is not it. Two stars because the waitress was nice and the building housing the restaurant is interesting. Unfortunately, we didn't read the reviews prior to coming here (needed a last minute reservation on a holiday weekend) and we suffered for it. Upon arrival, I found out that this is a celebrity-owned chain restaurant. Never a good sign. We were seated right away and there were very few occupied tables. Mostly families with young kids. We ordered the fried mozzarella appetizer which arrived lukewarm and with minimal flavor. My husband ordered the brisket Mac & cheese and I ordered the Fried Chicken Pot Pie. Both entrees were again lukewarm upon arrival. The brisket mac & cheese was like something you'd get at an Applebees. My pot pie had an overwhelming amount of celery salt - couldn't really taste anything else. We took a few bites of the meals before deciding to just call it, pay the bill and leave. read more

We visited for the first time tonight and we absolutely loved it!! The Philly cheesesteak fries (not pictured) are amazing!! My husband had the salmon and I had the meatloaf. Thank the boys that they a) remembered comfort food is more than burger and b) filled a hallowed empty space in Choo-choo City's historic station. N&N: Sa-LUTE! And 4 thumbs up! Our waitress met us with an apology and warned it was a slow afternoon in a dead week of no local events with a seasonal gap of expectedly low-volume tourism. Of course that affects staffing levels. No worries. At all that...the service level was fine. As was the food. The Thanksgiving Turkey Burger was as good as  a turkey burger can be. My copilot was tired enough to think a turkey burger comes as a sliced sandwich. If you're road-weary, be advised that the burgers are ground, not sliced. The Fried Chicken Pie is a delicious, semi- deconstructed version of the classic. Served over biscuits, the dish has more of a dumpling vibe. Flavorful and filling any way you slice it. Certainly your mileage is going to vary. We were happy for a break away from travel misadventures on I-24 (which missed the memo about the seasonal gap.) And...psst! ...as an extra bonus, burger patties are served between free-range brioche buns that arrive daily by rail. If you listen carefully you can hear the puffy clatter of doughy hooves as leather-tough, flour-covered bunboys corral the yeasties then fire-brand each one! But, OMG...if you hear a whooping ruckus and see a cloud of flour hanging at the kitchen door...pick up your feet. You and yours don't want them trampled in a wild bun stampede. read more

Friendly service can't make up for terrible food. It's a shame because the place looks cool and the menu sounds like it could be really good. But, don't be fooled by the glossy sheen! It's like the set of a TV show; dig a little deeper and you'll see there's no substance, just visual appeal. Celebrity restaurants are the worst and this place lives up to that trope. If you think Planet Hollywood or Rainforest Cafe serve great food, then you'll love Nic & Norman's. Didn't enjoy this place at all!! I was very communicative with the server and asked about a vegan option. They brought my vegan burger option out with an egg on top along with some cold fries .. I let the server know ( per our previously discussed ) I wanted the vegan option.... they did bring me a new burger without the egg.. yet they allowed those stone cold fries to remain and never replaced those .. along with a very unconcerned attitude . We ending up sitting at the bar and waiting for a server to come take our order, but no one came. We eventually left after 5-10 minutes - other people experienced the same. I'm honestly not one to write reviews like ever but in light of our experience last night, I felt it was necessary. Let me just say first that I have had good experiences at this place in the past. There were 6 in our party for my daughter's 17th Birthday. She's a Walking Dead fan thus why we picked the restaurant. The basic issue was that after waiting for what seemed like an hour but may have been closer to 45 minutes for our food to come out, all of it was cold. The only thing that we didn't test was my husband's steak because it was not cooked properly. I'm thinking maybe they forgot the steak and while they were hurriedly cooking that, our food was sitting there getting cold. We sent the steak back to be cooked more but the rest of us barely touched our food and decided to take it home to put it in the microwave if we had to pay for it. The last time our waitress (who was very nice) said she'd go check on the steak, the rest of us had asked for to-go boxes so my husband canceled his order. They took that off the ticket. Where the prices are relatively high, we felt that we should express our dissatisfaction to the Manager in the hopes that maybe they would at least extend some sort of discount or just something. My husband ended up speaking to the Manager with our waitress standing right there and they felt that taking his meal off the ticket was compensation enough so we left it at that. Honestly we give this place the best burger award for TN. We have been there twice now, and on the second go we even brought friends, who in turn loved it. First off, the place is owned by the actor Norman Reedus and Nick Cartero. sorry if I misspelled the names, but they are known for the Walking Dead. Fun little tidbit for fans of the show. On both occasions the staff did an excellent job at keeping the cups filled, even for the little ones! And as stated before, best burgers ever. Grilled just right, and very picture perfect. Easily a five star review. Beautiful scenery, incredible food, and impeccable service. Any fan of the walking dead would immediately be impressed by all of the decorations in the dining area. Even those unimpressed by the show would be thrilled with the amazing decor. The food could not have been better. Loved the burgers and my mom even enjoyed her gluten free burger, not to mention the pickle fries were to die for. The food was not served on a silver platter, but it may as well have, as the server could not have been better. The patties looked like the frozen ones in a bag from Sam's Club & they could've used some salt & pepper. The burger buns on one of them were badly burnt & couldn't be eaten. The atmosphere is also just okay. It's in the Choo Choo but the paint was peeling in some areas & the art on the walls was nothing special. Wow!! Very eclectic place.... talk about the right mix of vintage and sci-fi! Ambiance... YES!! It can be the perfect place for a get together with friends or a romantic dinner. Lots of cool memorabilia and photos from the Walking Dead shows for the fans and followers. Our experience was really great. We went for lunch with a reservation. It was not crowded but filled with plenty of happy diners. We were attended to right away, seated and had an awesome server, Andrew. All employees were masked up, and diners put their mask on to go to the restroom or while being seated. Very comforting. We ordered drinks and Brisket Nachos. Drinks came right away and the nachos followed. These nachos were legit maybe the BEST nachos I have ever had.... just loaded with toppings. Btw, I am definitely a 'nacho connoisseur' LOL! We ordered meals, while our server attended to refilling our drinks. Andrew was totally on top of it. He even brought us extra chips to finish up the yummy brisket nacho topping! The Tomato Basil Soup really hit the spot on a chilly day.... rich and creamy with crunchy croutons.... perfection. To compliment the soup, I had the Nic & Norman Salad.... fresh, with candied pecans and goat cheese sprinkles... YUM! Our group had the Homestyle Meatloaf and wow the Nic & Norman sauce was really delicious, with perfectly cooked green beans and ofcourse mashed potatoes... Martha would be proud! Brisket Mac n Cheese.... rich and so wonderful, made with everyone's favorite Pimento cheese!! The cheese sauce was delish and perfect pasta. We had the Shrimp Scampi Flatbread too.... what a nice size entree... enough to share really. Shrimp were perfect, tender and delicious.
