We had a great meal at this location. They have a nice dining room with bright lighting from their plentiful windows. Our server was very attentive, although that did taper off toward the end of the meal, but I know it got busier around that time too. I had the Redfish Etouffe, Mom had Salmon Gyro (both were specials). I liked the Etouffe (it was crawfish with the Blackened Redfish placed on top) and I liked the Redfish. I felt the two together kind of canceled one another out. So I ate them separately, that's fine. It comes with a piece of toast that was maybe the best piece of bread I've ever eaten. I can't even describe it and also can't stop thinking about it. It also came with rice that was fine and fried okra that was also fine, but definitely nothing special. The whole crawfish they placed on top for garnish was overcooked and inedible. Mom enjoyed her gyro; however it did seem a small portion size. It worked for her, but for some it would have seemed too small to be filling. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. We haven't been to a Nick and Jake's for several years and need to remember to keep them in our rotation. read more

I have really gotten into Nick and Jake's especially on Saturdays, as they have 8 or 9 specials to choose from and they are $9/each and plenty of food. They also usually have a couple of seasonal desserts as well. Monday-Friday each carries their own delicious daily specials. If you can't find something to entice you from those there are plenty to choose from on the regular menu. Monday through Friday they also have great happy hour drink and food items. There are also two different menus for the kiddos (one for the younger and one for older. Not just mac-n-cheese either.) They have great desserts too! We were glad we had made reservations and to our surprise we were seated as soon as we arrived. Most places have you wait a bit even though you have reservations. The dining area has a great view of the outdoors and patio seating area where there were quite a few guests enjoying drinks. The artisan fried chicken salad was huge (lots of good chicken) but it was basically lettuce with chicken on top without a lot of other fixings. The Rueben was just ok (not much sauerkraut) and the steak was thinner than we would have liked. read more

This place is very hit or miss. I've been there on a weekend and the food was decent, the service was good, although they were super busy. We went during the week most recently and the service was sub par and our burgers were served raw. The fries looked like they came off of someone else's plate. This place is just very inconsistent and an all around disappointment. It's almost always very loud and quite chilly as the staff seem to set the temperature to whatever suits them. It's a shame, I wanted to like this place, I've even gave them several tries, but it's just not worth the effort if 2 out of 3 times it's going to suck. read more

Easily my favorite place in western Shawnee. The staff are always nice, portions are perfect, and the atmosphere is exactly what I'd expect from a neighborhood restaurant. They also have a couple different allergy-specific menus and they're VERY flexible and accommodating with a range of "normal" menu options. Haven't been here in several months but decided to go there tonight towards the end of happy hour (5:40 pm). There was an expected wait of "15 to 20 minutes", left my number for a text message. Waited 30 minutes and lucked out with 2 seats at the bar while waiting for a table. After 2 (average at best) cocktails, I went up to the hostess and was assured when a table was open I'd recieve a text alert. We gave up and told the bartender. Ten minutes later he took our food order. Thirty two minutes after that, we got our food with the wrong side order. Bartender apparently notified kitchen and after 15 minutes I asked about the side order. He went back in the kitchen and brought out the fries... 47 minutes for a side of fries. To top off this nightmare, I had to wait to pay my bill and by this time the bar was half empty. This is a HUGE pet peeve to have to wait to pay them money. Total time spent = 2 hours I'll never go back. There are other quality places nearby so I won't come back because they must not care about customer service. By the way, I NEVER did recieve a text alert. Don't waste your money on overpriced drinks, mediocre food, and horrible service. read more

Just moved to town and wanted to check out the local spot! Husband and I stopped for a quick lunch around 11. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. 1. Drinks- strawberry basil lemonade is super refreshing and delicious. A little heavy on the simply syrup for me, so definitely on the sweeter side but the flavors were good aside from that. 2. Food- I forgot to take pictures! I ordered the pear pollo pecan salad and husband went with Reuben sandwich. My salad was perfect. I normally ask for dressing on the side but forgot this time and was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't over dressed. Chicken on it was fresh, hot and juicy. Pear, candied pecans and craisins added the perfect sweet touch and the blue cheese crumbles just brought it all together. Generous portions and very happy. Per my husband, the Reuben was excellent! Fries were seasoned well. A little pricey for lunch but not unreasonable 3. Service- All staff were wearing masks and taking appropriate serving precautions. The timing was amazing. I think we had our drinks within 2 minutes and food within like 10 minutes of ordering and that's probably overestimating. 4. Love the Salmon BLT, its my go to sandwich when I order out for lunch. I can't speak to the service on the inside because I have only gotten carry out the 20+ times that I've had this sandwich. I typically order mine without cheese, or tomato. I don't like tomato because it tends to make the sandwich too wet. There have been a few times when they have left it on along with the cheese and I am lactose intolerant so that is why I keep the cheese off. They are great with correcting their mistakes so I can speak to that part of their customer service and give them an A+ The sandwich is on brioche bread and the sweetness of the bread, mixing with the salt of the sauce they on it is a great balance. As for the salmon, it is cooked to PERFECTION! The place where I used to get my salmon sandwich would always dry out the salmon but this salmon is consistently moist, delicious and cooked to perfection. The french fries have a great flavor to them. The piece of lettuce is sometimes really wet and droopy but I deal with it. I think its like that because I get carry out. I like to always ask for a side of honey mustard because I love a sauce and I am always accustomed to order honey mustard when I get a salmon sandwich just incase it comes out dry, but this sandwich never does. The honey mustard is also a nice addition to all the other flavors going on. read more

We've experienced brunch, happy hour and dinner here and all of our visits have been fantastic! Great customer service! The brunch spread was huge and everything was really good! When we visited for happy hour we sat at the bar and the bartenders were super friendly and outgoing and very attentive. The drinks were also great! I think that visit I got a pineapple mule. We were there last week for dinner and our server was a dream! She was the sweetest! We have two kids so any time we go and servers are accommodating and understanding, we are beyond appreciative. They provide complimentary kids plates before the meal is even ordered that have cheese its and fruit which is a huge help! The kids meals are actually pretty legit! They come with a good amount of food! I'm a vegetarian so the fact that they offer the Impossible burger and not some basic black bean burger is a major win! I added avocado to mine to make it even better. My husbands meaty burger was massive and he loved it lol. We did order dessert too, which she said was word of mouth, so she had to tell us our options and describe them to us. She did an amazing job listing them all off! I've gotten dessert of the Nick & Jake's in Parkville and their slices of cake there are OUTRAGEOUS! So I was kind of suprised that these slice were way smaller, or should I say a more appropriate portion size haha. But still, they were definitely two different variations of desserts. Great sports bar with an awesome menu selection. We came here for lunch after my son's hockey game. Nice specialty cocktail menu. They have Saturday specials for $9...very cool. They have small plates too! We got their shrimp and grits, it was very good with bacon and a sweet BBQ style sauce. I got the salmon limon - $9 special, salmon was great and not overcooked. Seven of us were easily accommodated with excellent food and great service at a reasonable price. Three of us chose our food from the Octoberfest menu and everyone was well pleased with their food. We were in a quiet corner and were allowed to stay for a nice long visit. As a vegetarian, I requested that they cook my breakfast burrito with no meat, and it was outstanding. It was generously sized, with plenty of tasty steak and fresh veggies. The service at the bar was friendly and efficient. I liked the clean, new, and nicely done interior with upbeat 80's background music, plenty of TVs, and free wi-fi. This location has daily lunch specials, a happy hour, a Sunday brunch, and a patio with a fireplace (under construction). We usually go here with out of town guests for happy hour. This kickstarts almost every visit and we have not been disappointed. Thai shrimp is 5-star. House salad is a great light option. We've tried the mozzarella sticks, chicken quesadillas, crab cakes-amazing, house chips with cheese dip, shrimp mac n cheese. The shrimp mac recipe has changed a few times. The latest is blackened but that was totally missed, I do prefer the idea of blackened to the former citrus bbq. Drinks- sangria HH is delicious, bar is excellent if you have a favorite drink. Fun, lively but relaxed atmosphere. Can get loud in dining or bar areas, outdoor is great in summer. Service can be slow at times, bar can take a little longer, but. a must visit. read more

The server was very nice. I ordered one of the special drinks, the paradise mule and it was amazing! I ordered off the daily special menu. I wanted the Walleye, but sadly they were out. So I opted for a rare smoked prime rib dinner. The wait for food was not bad. The taste of the prime rib was delicious, but it was a little over cooked for my liking. (Yes I like my beef mooing, but I don't like wasting meat so I did not tell the waiter so I don't hold this issue against the restaurant). I was a little disappointed in the amount of asparagus given. I love asparagus and a few pieces was just not enough. I was also disappointed in the lack of flavor of the mashed potatoes. Personally if there's no gravy or sauce then the potatoes themself need to be seasoned or flavored, and these were not. The menu state aus jus also came with the meal. When I did not receive this I asked the waiter and he said it didn't come with the meal, but he got some for me anyway. I ended up using some of the aus jus for my potatoes. The aus jus was lacking in flavor as well, but the horseradish sauce was perfect! My husband and I decided to split dessert. The chocolate cake bread pudding was amazing! The ice cream served with it was creamy and vanilla packed. Great way to end a meal. Overall I could see myself going back but probably won't order something out of my normal options I choose from. read more

This place has a good atmosphere. We went there for lunch & had a Fried Chicken salad, a Pear Pecan chicken salad & a cup of steak soup. Most of the dressing choices are too sweet. They try to have "unique" dressings but maybe they should keep it simple & have oil vinegar or just Italian. The chicken on both salads had no flavor or seasoning. A little salt, pepper & garlic would have been better than nothing. Our waitress was very nice & attentive so she was the best part of the lunch. This lunch with iced tea cost over $50. I came back to this location with my husband, daughter and her softball team! Believe it or not, we had Sammie as a server instead of a host! I was also delighted to see Rille serving and helping our friends out! Always love seeing these 2! We also got to meet a manager named Stacy who was very professional and sweet! I ordered the Fried Chicken Salad with ranch! The chicken was crispy yet juicy and their homemade ranch always hits the spot. However, my food did come out a little bit warm, like the chicken had been sitting on the lettuce for awhile and wilted the lettuce slightly. My favorite was a salmon they had for the lunch special. Unfortunately, it wasn't a regular item and I haven't seen it on the menu since. The rueben was the best I've found in a long time. On Tuesdays I love the Chicken Fried Chicken special. Delicious! The club sandwich was very good, but about the same you will find in other places. I find it especially comforting that they do not make you feel guilty for sharing a plate. In fact, they split it up for you in the kitchen. This is a service I would be happy to pay extra for since it is hard for us to eat a complete restaurant meal by ourselves. After our first visit a few months ago I hadn't been back but last night my hubby and I went to dinner here with friends and I loved it. It seems they have worked out all the opening kinks. The service at the bar and at our table were fabulous. We shared the thai shrimp, it was delicious. For dinner I had the firecracker chicken salad which was huge and had a ton of meat on it and was so good. Hubby had an omg burger and other than the fries which he said were average at best he thought it was awesome. Friends split the chardonnay, it was huge with 3 pieces of chicken so definitely worth sharing and they loved it. I think this will become a regular haunt for us. read more
