This has been our favorite place on the north end for burgers. Unfortunately they have changed their burger and not for the better in our opinion. While the new bun is an improvement the burger itself was along the lines of burger king for quality. Also there were less onion rings and less chips than before. Still a nice glass of wine during happy hour for under $2. We are going to try the burritos the next time as that had been our favorite before the burgers. If they have changed as much we will be searching for a new favorite on the north end. read more

Sorry, Nick Fink's. Not a fan. We came in with a group of people on a Thursday evening. (3/27/14) Service was slow, server mixed up our food; gave my beau my burrito and gave me his...unfortunately he was half done w/the one he was eating before I started eating mine and realized that it was his shredded beef and black bean burrito and he was devouring my all meat burrito. I hate black beans so you lose points for putting that crap in front of me. The couple we sat next to never even got the food they ordered but it appeared on their bill. Nice, eh? Also, they ran out of ground beef for tacos, nachos, burritos, etc around 6:30. We got their around 8. You lose more points for running out of a menu staple. Once we were done we had to wait forever for the server to bring our bill so we could leave. Once you bring me a to-go box feel free to bring my bill at the same time...I'm obviously done and have no desire to sit around for another 45 minutes. We won't be back. read more

In response to the reviewer writing about the staff being rude to her and the band...I believe she is referring to the band who not only started extremely (read: hours) late and expected to be paid for the entire evening, but the band members and their groupies were underage yet chose to sneak in their own alcohol. They were rude to the manager on duty when he asked them when they were going to bother to start playing, rude when he asked them to turn the volume down, gave him attitude when he discovered their alcohol, and when he had them stop playing early because they clearly wouldn't cooperate with him, they really had a conniption fit and tried to pull the "we're rock stars!" card the only way immature underage kids in a band would. Yes, the booking agent booked the band, and that band will never play in any of the company's sites again. Way to burn bridges, guys. Someday you'll learn that playing music for money is a privilege, not a right. You guys were lucky to get a check that night. And no, I don't work there. My band plays there sometimes so I heard the story. read more

We went to Nick Fink's on Tues. April 23rd for dinner. Arrived around 7:20pm. Nice old bar setting, seemed like a comfortable place to hang out. The place was 3/4's full when we got there. One poor waitress seemed to be working on her own. She came quickly to our table and we got our drinks in about 5mins. However, we waited close to 45mins before getting our food. We weren't in any hurry, but the time frame seemed quite excessive for just 2 burritos. We would have ordered more drinks as well, but our waitress wasn't able to make it back to our table until we were finished with our dinner. Other tables around us seemed to have been waiting quite some time for their dinners as well. Our waitress was very nice, but the place obviously needs more wait staff as well as more help in the kitchen. Food was good at the very least. Oh, and the bathrooms could really use an update! read more

First, I've never given a 5 star.!!! This is different; in our last five visits, we have been overwhelmed!! When the Gilmore's first opened, the girls served a limited menu on plastic plates. Now the food is top shelf, served on real plates. Today, 12/22, we ordered a pizza to go; and it ruined us for other pies!! In the last few weeks we've had the bean dip, enchiladas, and wings,(twice)!! Wow!! All of it great!! And on top of that, they have some great craft beers!! When I moved to the area I decided to give this place a try. I fell in love with the atmosphere! Some people don't like the old look but I do. Now years later and more visits I can count on my fingers and toes I still love it. I have been there when they have been understaffed and it took 45 minutes to get wings and all the tables were dirty, and I have been there when staff was on point and everything rocked! So for you that had a bad first experience, give them another try, unless it was the atmosphere, some people like it, some don't. To each his own. I lovingly refer this place as a dive bar. Which I prefer to stuffy fancy places. The pizza is awesome, wings come in a variety of flavors to suit your taste, and the burgers! Delicious! But I have not been able to eat a whole one, they are big. So in all fairness and the reason I did not give this place a fifth star I have one complaint. There is a barrel sized ash tray right next to the entrance. And more times than I can remember, there are people smoking standing right next to the door. Non smokers have to walk through that to get in. Even if there is no one smoking the barrel smells. They need to move the smoking area away from the door. read more

Wished I had read the reviews before we decided to stop for dinner at Nick Fink's. Guess I was mislead into choosing it because it was a Gilmore owned property. More of a local bar hangout than a restaurant. Food was ok - typical bar food. Nothing special. Chips and cheese were made with seasoned chips which was weird. Not sure if they were short help or the waitress just didn't care much. Always waiting... for drinks, silverware, condiments, correct orders, etc. Wasn't expecting a Band (didn't see it mentioned on the website) but they were very good! Highlight of our visit! read more

Monday night a group of 6 came in for dinner. I cant say enough about the bartender that was on duty. She greeted us w a smile and with my husband having dimentia she had to explain to him 3 times the menu and what he ordered. loved the old bar and the staff was great!! however, the food was another story. i ordered the quater pounder double burger. normally a "bar burger" is the best, but in this case i was really disappointed. very small, meat had a "funny" flavor and the bun was something you can get in a package at meijers. also ordered the shreadded chicken enchilada. brought half home and still looking for the chicken!! thought the gilmore collection would have better food. read more

Food is good, drinks are fine. BUT, the waitress offered to bring me a few samples of beer (1 oz. each) because I was undecided and I said o.k. When we received our check, I had been charged $1 for each sample (in my case, 3). Hadn't thought to ask because I'd never been charged before anywhere else. When I mentioned to the waitress (nicely) that I hadn't been aware of the charge, she just said "oh, yes". She did not offer to take even one off of the bill. read more

I can't imagine under what dire circumstances I'd have to find myself at this bar/restaurant again, but I'd have to be pretty desperate. My fiance and I decided to have dinner/drinks here the other weekend, before a Whitecaps game which we had tickets to. The nice thing about this restaurant is that it's within walking distance to the stadium! Or those were our words anyway as we set out that evening, thinking we were pretty smart to find this place. We arrived at Nick Fink's at 5:30pm exactly on a Sat evening. The game was set to start at 7pm, so we figured we'd have at least an hour to order a meal, eat and then walk to the ballpark. The place was very underwhelming on the inside, but I wasn't all that concerned because I wasn't expecting a formal dining experience. I knew we were going to your average, american bar/restaurant so I wasn't expecting anything out of this world. I was simply stopping there for a bite before the game. I was willing to accept average and be ok with it. The inside and the outside of the restaurant are very run down, looks like it hasn't been cleaned in awhile. Also the person/people who decorated the inside seem very confused. You've got Tiffany lamps hanging from the ceiling, but black vinyl 70's style booths and gold/black velvet 70's style wallpaper that looks like it's from a porn set and some dusty, faded paisley carpet of green and burgundy..with some fake wood paneling on the walls...then part of the restaurant looks like a breakfast diner with light colored wood floors, mauve upholstered booths/seats..just a weird set up period. But whatever. Again, I was just more amused than anything, and I figured it had been redecorated a few times, being "the oldest bar in the city" so I wasn't too concerned. Our waitress seemed nice enough, albeit bored and uninterested, but again I figured as long as she gets my food to me in a timely manner w/ no flies in it, I'll be ok. We ordered drinks first (me an ice water, my fiance a draft beer). She brought those out pretty quickly, but then disappeared for a very long time. When she finally came back out to ask if we'd like to order an appetizer and we told her we would like to, and would also like to put our dinner order in. At this point it was 5:45pm. Please let me stress that the place was NOT busy at all. There were a couple of tables with maybe 2-3 people per table, but from what I could tell the majority of people were at the bar. We ordered the chips & salsa (with guacamole for an extra $2.50), I ordered the pulled chicken tacos and my fiance ordered the chicken enchiladas. She brought our chips/salsa/guacamole out relatively fast, so I was encouraged. At this point we had 40 minutes until we had to be out of there and walk to the game, so I figured we were making good time. The plate of chips was absolutely gigantic, which was awesome, but the little container of guacamole was ridiculous. Given the ratio of the guacamole to the chips, and the fact that I paid an extra $2.50 to get the guacamole, I was unimpressed. We're talking half a dixie cup compared to a 12x12" plate of chips. The chips themselves were very good. Warm, crispy and seasoned well. The guacamole was also very good, and it seemed to be homemade. I only wish I would've had enough to even cover a quarter of the chips. Between the 2 of us eating it, the guacamole was gone within 7-8 chips, lol :P We finished our chips around 6:10pm, at this point we have 20 min 'til we need to go. Mind you, the dinner never came the entire time we were eating the chips. Finally around quarter after 6 I noticed our waitress (who by the way had disappeared again after delivering our chips) come out of the kitchen w/ a tray full of food. I thought "at last! We'll have to shovel this in and then leave!" but alas..she heads to the table behind us. It then dawned on me that those people were already sitting there when we arrived at 5:30!! Here it was 6:15 and they were just now being served??!! Finally at 6:30 (45min after putting in our dinner order) we still hadn't gotten our food. My fiance had to track our waitress down (who was hanging out by the kitchen door talking to another employee) and ask her if we could just have the check, and that we'd have to cancel the dinner order. She halfheartedly says "oh..I can check and see if it's ready..." to which he told her we did not have time, we really had to go. She dropped the check on our table with a lackluster attitude, no words, no apologies. I put my debit card in the folder and she took it away..knowing full well I wouldn't see her for several minutes on end..given her track record. At this point I was stressed. I wanted to leave immediately. She finally came back, again no smiles, no apologies. I will never step foot inside this place again. This place is ridiculous. read more

First time at Nick Fink's and we were HUGE fans! We are new to the area and were looking for a new go-to bar/ restaurant and we found it here. The prices are great and the food is even better. The food is not fancy or outstanding, it is a typical bar menu and bar food, but definitely hits the spot. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and my fiance ordered the boneless wings (which were on special for 65 cents!!!) and they were perfect! They did not skimp on any of the ingredients, very cheesy and loaded with peppers and chicken with a spicy barque sauce on top. The wings were meaty and slathered with sauce. They have a large bar with a great assortment of beers. Our waiter Dusty was SO accommodating, friendly and an all around nice guy. He gave wonderful recommendations and was very patient with us. He checked on our table frequently and kept our beers full. The atmosphere is a bit dark and older looking, but again, if you are not looking for anything fancy this is the place to be, it felt comfortable and inviting. Compared to similar restaurants in the area (vitales, mill creek, etc) who have average food that is double the price, we loved this place and will be returning to nicks again. This was the WORST bar I have been to!!! The service is HORRIBLE and the staff is worse!!!! They did NOT make you feel welcome and were extremely rude not only to me but also the band THEY booked!!! Food was lackluster and lukewarm, served on paper plates with plastic cutlery as another reviewer noted, and we got our chips and cheese the same time our entrees were served because a server delivered our chips to another table. We went here after they had been selling food for a few weeks so that they could get it together. Alas, 'twas not the case. They were short waitstaff the Friday evening we were there, but in that the restaurant wasn't full I don't think that was a viable excuse for the crummy service. We have lived in CP a long time but never had been to Fink's. We recently went on a Thursday night. No problem getting a table right away but there was a good crowd. We both had the beef taco special & a couple drafts & our tab was about $20. The tacos were big & tasty but nothing special. We both felt that the waitress was a bit inattentive. She was chatting with staff &the regulars & forgetting we were there. I would have had another draft but she never offered & by the time she returned I was over it. Its too bad because there is a need for a friendly little pub here. Not saying we wont be back but were hoping for something more. Management might want to up its game as there is a big crowd who like to eat & drink after CP sporting events. Cool place, the renovation is really nice. read more

NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE. It was my birthday. I wanted to go somewhere different. I heard it may be Haunted. This appealed to me. We walked in...people looked at us like we were from MARS...we found a space in a far corner NOT MARKED( as there was a reserved party that was coming in at the tables NEXT TO US)...there were no other seats except RIGHT IN FRONT BY THE BAND and I wanted to chat with hubby and my friend who was to meet us. The waitress comes around the corner with the order from the table next to us and asks if we are with the reserved party coming in, we stated no but the table was not marked for reservation...she stated it was for the party coming in and there was space up by the bar....(the place was packed...there was no space except WAAAAAY UP FRONT where your ears bleed from the band)....We pretty much thought she didn't want to deal with more CUSTOMERS in the far corner. Might I mention my hubby is an Army Vet? We were half way out when our friend met us. She stated she had to PUSH a guy outta the way after asking kindly if he would move....which he didn't. I understand there is not much that can be done about rude people in your establishment. I do know IT WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT ALL....we went to SHAWMUT INN IN STANDALE. We didn't know a soul in there. We were seated and taken care of. Great night when we got there. NOT SURE WHAT THE GILMORE COLLECTION IS ALL ABOUT....BUT SURE THINK THEY NEED TO RECONSIDER WHEN THE CUSTOMERS ARE NOT FELT WELCOME....MUST HAVE TO BE A REGULAR LOCAL TO BE TREATED WELL. This place is awfull! I went with some friends after work on a Friday night and waited at least 20 minutes for a drink. Once our server finally came to us, she over charged us for drinks that were listed cheaper on the menu!! Worst of all, I used my card to pay for my bill and I checked my statement the next night and noticed that THEY RAN MY CARD AGAIN THE FOLLOWING NIGHT!!!!! I was not even there Saturday, so how could they run my card again and double it from what I paid on Friday?!?! I called and spoke to the manager and he remembered who I was. I informed him what happened and he took my information and said he would get back to me. HE NEVER DID!!! I called and called and got no response. He wouldn't return my phone calls either, so I had to dispute the EXTRA charge and order a new card because someone clearly had my card information from running it the next night. This place is VERY unprofessional and I would RECOMMEND AGAINST EVER GOING HERE!!!!! read more
