The food is awesome! Make reservations. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. He gave really good recommendations and we loved every thing he recommended. First start off with the Hefe-Weizen beer. They serve it in a nice chilled glass and a great way to start the next enjoyable 1+ hours of tastebuds delight! The pretzel is a must! It's served warm and was so so so soft. It will make you regret you ever ate one at the mall or carnival. We had the jagerschnitzel and the breading was perfect. I think any of the schnitzels would be great. The bartender told us about a special off-menu item that included 3 types of bratwurst. Each one had a unique flavor for the others. My favorite was the peppercorn one. It was one of the best dishes we ever had. This is an absolutely must get dish! For dessert, the apple strudel is the way to go. It's one of the freshest desserts you'll ever have.

    Apple Strudel was excellent!!!

Service at Nick's is wonderful! The desserts are very good!! My veal was flavorless unfortunately. I regretted not going with their pork.

I had a FABULOUS experience at Nick's German Kitchen. The lumberjack schnitzel was ausgezeichnet and the bretzel was delectable. The restaurant was so cottage core. Love!!!!

We love Nick's, and have enjoyed dining here for multiple years now. If you're looking for authentic, delicious German food then you need to make a visit. The interior has a bar for dining, and tables to accommodate 2 or more. Plus there are outdoor dining tables when the weather is nice. Inside it can get a little noisy when full, so be prepared. But the enthusiasm of dining here makes it fun. I always enjoy a good German beer to start, especially a Dunkel beer. Favorite apps include the warm pretzel with hot German mustard, and my favorite is the bratwurst. The modern German fare offers 6 different schnitzels, pork medallions, a chicken or veggie spaetzle. My favorite schnitzel is the Jager schnitzel with it's crispy pork cutlet, spaetzle and creamy mushroom gravy. My husband recently ordered the veggie spaetzle and it was equally delicious. Occasionally they have a different special on the weekends, and my favorite is the rouladen. You can't find this delicious Germen specialty in Charleston, so I always order this when available. Our service has always been friendly and engaging when we dine at Nick's. The added table visits by Nick is always appreciated too.

This waz just an amazing experience! We were seated outside with cozy blankets and heaters. The food was amazing. The flavors exploded in my mouth and each bite was joyous. Our waitress was amazing. She was sweet, prompt, and friendly. Just a great experience!

We went there for dinner last night, Saturday. I made 645 reservations, which said patio when we got there it was so hot we end sitting at the bar. It was a little bit warm. Nice atmosphere service was very good. Everyone was friendly. Especially enjoyed the German beer. We got the bread dumpling as an appetizer. If you're a fan of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, as I am, the sauce was an upgrade of that flavor. My wife got the chicken paprikash. I got the Yeager schnitzel. Both were excellent, especially their fresh spatzel.

Went here on Thursday February 12th 2026 with my parents, aunt, uncle and a few friends as a total party of 7. We did make a reservation online and highly recommend to do that. When we arrived, the parking lot was jam packed and we almost couldn't find a spot. However, we were luckily able to park in the back somewhere. This place is like a little house with german memoria on it. in the dining room, they also had an accordion player. When we walked in to the door, we waited about 6 -10 minutes for a host to greet us. When the host finally did, she sat us down right away. Then, we sit down and our server still didn't greet us until like 15 minutes or later. Now, i understand that they were busy- but acknowledge us, address us, take a moment to start us with waters. Although this gave us time to look over the menu if we didn't know what we wanted. Finally the waitress comes over and gets us 7 waters, and 6 beers. We also put in an order of Bratwurst, Bauernwurst, as well as the pretzel appetizer. Appetizers came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed the Bauernwurst, which i think is the one that tasted like hot dogs, as well as the pretzel. The pretzel was big and we did end up sharing it with the whole table. For Entrees, I ordered the chicken Jager with mushrooms and gravy with a side of german potato salad and string beans. The String beans were the vegetable of the day. Oh, and the waitress did a good job with telling us the specials and communicating once everything calmed down. Food seemed to take long to come out, but when it finally did, I enjoyed my Chicken Jager. Only issue is that some others in my party said that their sides/food was cold- even after warming it up a bit- which the waitress did try to fix at least. Maybe the heat lamp is broken, or the food isn't directly under it, I don't know but this should be improved upon. We were offered dessert but skipped it. We did separate checks for our party- which the waitress accomodated. Paid via credit card and left a cash tip. May be back again!

Although the food presentation looked good, the food was cold. It seemed like they must have made a large amount of food and put the pans under a food warmer light. Dished it out when ordered and served it. The bread was good but didn't seem like authentic German bread. Not impressed. I did check reviews before going. Would we go back idk. It could have been an off day.

I was honestly very surprised by how much I enjoyed everything. The inside of this quaint little restaurant has a strong German feel. The staff are dressed traditionally, which makes the whole place feel charming and authentic. It is honestly adorable. I would love to return when they have live music to enjoy the full experience. We started with the potato pancakes and the sausage platter, and both were excellent. Every sausage on the platter was seasoned so well that I did not even need mustard. I ate each one exactly as it was served, and the flavor was fantastic. The pretzels that came with the platter were also very good. The potato pancakes were phenomenal. I easily could have eaten more, but I wanted to save room for my entrée. For my meal, I ordered the veal schnitzel with spaetzle and potato salad, along with mushroom gravy. The veal was incredibly tender and absolutely delicious. I loved it so much that I want to try making it at home. The spaetzle was fantastic and something completely new for me. The mushroom gravy really brought everything together and made the dish feel complete. The potato salad was just average, but everything else was outstanding. My boyfriend ordered the pork schnitzel with spaetzle and really enjoyed his meal as well. Between the music, the cozy atmosphere, and the wonderful food, the entire experience was warm and memorable. This was such a great introduction to German cuisine, and I would definitely return.

We ordered a couple of the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwiches and some fries, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best schnitzel I've ever had. Most of the time at these outdoor festivals, you're lucky to get a 'cool' drink, but these were refreshing and perfect for a day out in the sun. I'm typically a big proponent of a lot of sauce but this was ALOT of ketchup. The ketchup and sauerkraut brought a lot of acidity to this dish- rip my mouth. But I was a little hesistant by the flavors of curry and sauerkraut, and some how this worked. Tbh I prob wouldn't order this again, but I look forward to trying other items on the menu and seeing how good those are. The fries costs $13 which is a little high for what it is in my opinion. I think the brat that comes with it Carries the cost of the item so I would like to see less ketchup so I can taste the brat more. The lady taking orders was nice to me. I had a tough time being able to hear her call my name tho so don't stray too far. The location was at the musc greenway so I enjoyed this during my lunch break. Outdoors for lunch is always a pleasant experience. My Grandmother was 50% German, and her father and mother were German immigrants prior to WWI. Thus my father assumed the family was German; however, the family which immigrated in 1640 to Virginia was English. Thus we have both German and English heritage. Tonight, it shall be Roast Duck, spatzle, and red cabbage. One of the grand things about an autumn visit to Hilton Head is very little need for dinner reservations almost anywhere.... However, it is Saturday evening, and Alfred's is a tiny property, and we do recommend dinner reservations. Alfred's is Not a hidden gem; however, it is to the rear of Sea Grass Grill and near Santa Fe restaurant. Given this restaurant trio, only Alfred's was full at 5:30 PM. Perhaps 80% of diners were locals. Alfred's merits a five star, Chef Alfred and Mauricio are busy preparing delight dinners for guests. Ambience is rather indifferent, and we have a habit of patio dining - there are decent outdoor views and patio heaters. Trent is our highly skilled server, and he provided us with special attention. Roast Duck; It is not chicken, goose, or turkey; it is roast duck, and we highly recommend this classic German dish. We pair it with a California Pinot Noir, and enjoy a delightful dinner. Highly recommend Roast Duck and nearly all of menu.
