Food is great but service is abysmal. Had a reservation (confirmed) and they couldn't find it. Then they "found it" and seated us. Then 5 minutes later asked us to get up because the table they gave us "belonged" to someone else. Unbelievable! Then they asked us to wait another 20 minutes at the bar so we could be seated. Do not bother with this place!!! Never again! I should note that we chose to leave Nick's and go to Burton's Grill where we had a great meal! I spent a few years in West Germany as a kid and fell in love with the schnitzel. I heard about these folks (had their own restaurant in Germany for 15 years or so) and figured I'd take my bride there for our anniversary/Valentines dinner (they're on the same day) I spoke with the owner when I made reservations and asked her if she'd have a dozen roses on our table. They were there! Susannah was great and we enjoyed two different varieties of schnitzel and the spatzle as a side. Wow! It was all wonderful! Then we ordered every single item on the dessert menu. Ha! I've got to give a complete review right? Apple strudel w/vanilla ice cream, crepe brûlée, cheesecake and a raspberry mousse. (We've already been back!). The second time they had a "trio crime brûlée" and I asked for 2 of them "to go". Well, it's not something you can put in a plastic container. Initially the idea was nixed. I offered a $20 deposit to take the dishes home and that idea passed muster. We are everything at home and then took the dessert dishes back and thanked them for their trust. This is a great little family restaurant and they work hard, though effortlessly to make you feel at home. This is a wonderful addition to the already plentiful variety of restaurants in Mt. Pleasant. We're sold. And we'll be back again and again. There are other menu options to try and I've got my eye on those pork medallions. Came across this little bistro with German Italian cuisine. Very small inside but warm. The food was very good. We started with the potato pancake appetizer which was very tasty. Our entrees were delicious but my husband's was way overpriced for the small portion he was served. His meal was served in a soup bowl size dish and there were exactly 4 mussels and 2 shrimp in his seafood and pasta dish for $29. Disappointing. We will come back because my meaI was a nice size. One of the best dinners I've had in a long long time. This is pure and simple comfort food at its finest. My fiancé and I went on a date night with our friends and it was a much needed night out which was made even better by the whole entire dining experience at Nick's. This place feels like home. It's comfortable and the staff is marvelous! The food is impeccable! Myself and my friend ordered the special for that night which was the pork stroganoff. The pork was so tender it basically melted in your mouth! My fiancé had the Jagerschnitzel and our other companion had the lamb. We all highly enjoyed our meals! Our first visit here. There is a paucity of German restaurants in our area so this a welcome relatively recent addition. Easy access and parking in the shopping area off Hungryneck and the IOP connector. It was a summer evening but the breeze was nice enough to sit outside. A nice varied selection of German beers was a bit pricey..but these are not otherwise widely available. Plus, knowing that small restaurants like this one depend on liquor to help their bottom line makes it worth the premium. The single bratwurst over creamy sauerkraut and roasted potatoes was billed as an appetizer but easily could have been a small meal on its own. Very flavorful! We split the main course beef stroganoff over spoetzle which, after the appetizer, was plenty for us. The meat was tender and the creamy sauce was one of the best stroganoffs I can remember, so the $32 price made it a good value even after the 2 dollar fee for spliting the plate. Our dining partners (who have travelled to Germany frequently) each had different schnitzel which they pronounced quite good as well. If you want to venture into a something other than the usual low country fare or have not had a chance to try German before this is a good place to start! read more

Tonight we received a reply from The OWNER of MEZZO Restaurant; regarding our negative dining experience this week. Her reply was defensive and in no way offered a valid explanation or heart felt apology regarding the terrible service that we received. In fact, she really didn't address or even apologize for JR the waiter not knowing how to serve in a casual fine dining restaurant. She didn't address that of the 4 people dining together, She brought our dinners out to the table separately. They served the men first, and then only one of the women. The second woman, my wife was served a good while after the rest of us. The OWNER needed to carry our dinner plates using a kitchen towel which suggests to me that the food had been sitting for some time under heat lamps. The OWNER served out of order and had to ask us "who got what:? The server bounced around when taking our initial order saving the woman for last. I had to ask the OWNER to stabilize our dinner table as it was very wobbly. ( I would think that a NEW restaurant, which is supposedly managed by an experienced restaurateur) would have things like this handled prior to opening the doors to except peoples money. In the past week I have shared our terrible service with dozens of local friends and neighbors. I feel that it is my responsibility to save my friends and the community at large from wasting a night out by dining here at MEZZO. My third time visiting this great find in Mt. Pleasant. I love the European feel of this place. The tablecloths & candles set a wonderful tone for eating here. The original menu is small, and should be expanded with obvious frequent choices. However, their "chalk board" offers a little bit of various European dishes, Italian, German, French", so I'm sure you can find something to choose from. Fabulous food!! Wow I loved my lumberjack schnitzel. It has all the things I love... bacon, breaded pork, potatoes, fried egg, and sauerkraut. Our waiter David was excellent and we loved dining outside. They had a heater and blankets and it was super cozy. To finish off the meal we got the Apple strudel which was very authentic and great. My husband especially liked it because it wasn't overly sweet. Definitely worth trying this great restaurant! Tuesday and Wednesday is schnitzel night by the way so you get a few dollars off. My reservation for 2 made 26 hours in advance requesting inside seating was denied even though there was an open table literally next to me when checked in. Offered either belly up to the bar or go outside. Opted for outdoors and seated next to a parking space in the lot. The was a bush there, which turned out to be good since the lizard living there got to snack on the constant flies all over the food and drinks. The $26.00 Frankfurter Schnitzel had stone cold melted cheese sauce on top of it and when asked the server about it she was surprised I was shocked. The only item still warm were the potatoes underneath the pork patties. After 7 hours on the road, I'd eat anything! The $10.00 Pfannkuchen Pancakes dessert were made with hershey syrup. At least the crepes were warm enough to melt the ice cream. I wrote a text message to the company and their response was "Thanks, we appreciate your feedback". Our new favorite restaurant!! We weren't expecting an experience that left us saying to ourselves wow, what an amazing place! I'll start with the service, Stephanie our waitress made us feel special and spoiled and we felt that same welcoming feel from all the staff. Kudos to the management for that! The restaurant is beautiful inside and has outdoor seating as well. The lit pillar candle, red rose and white table cloth gave a warm and romantic ambiance. Now for the food, it was exceptional! My husband requested a substitution on his dish and it was easily done. Their menu is small and my husband is a pescatarian but their daily specials are extensive and almost doubles their menu. Where do I start.. this place is a hidden gem. I found it on google and saw it was new without a lot of reviews. We thought we give it a chance. The ambiance is very cozy and romantic. I am originally from Germany. I thought that if I want this kind of food experience I have fly back. Until now there was no place in Charleston which blew me away like this one. I had the fettuccine with shrimp and my husband had the veal dish. Absolutely on point, both dishes solid 5 out of 5 stars. My personal highlight was the Apfelstrudel with refreshing vanilla ice cream. Amazing! My standards for food are very very high and this is in fact my first long yelp review. We ordered the Tuscan Vegetable Medley and of course my favorite the Mushroom Schnitzel with Spätzle, Both where delicious and reminded me of the meals I had while in Germany many years ago, Will not be disappointed... I lived in Germany for a few years and am familiar with a lot of their cuisine. Nick's does a fine job of bringing authentic German flavor to the low country. The ambience was perfect. A nice outdoor patio with space heaters and thick wool blankets reminded me of winters in Germany. To start, my wife had a delicious and warm glühwein and I had some sparkling water. We shared a soft, salty pretzel paired with some butter and chives. For dinner, my wife and I shared the chicken paprika schnitzel and the lachsfilet. Both were amazing but the star of the show was the delicious vegetable spaetzle that came with the lachsfilet. Light, airy noodles covered in a delicious good cheese sauce and crisp vegetables, I would just go back for this side alone. That said, the chicken and the salmon were no slouches either. Both were perfectly cooked and perfectly portioned. My wife and I were able to clean our plates and still have room for a Bailey's crème brûlée. Great small restaurant. Small menu but the special board had just as much variety. Wife had their vegetable plate and swapped pasta for the rice, she said it was very good. I had the Schnitzel which was flavorful very crispy but extremely tough. She put in an order for their Souffle when we placed the order. After dinner we still had to wait, 15 minutes for the dessert, I had ordered the creme brulee. The Creme Brulee was outstanding, I will say the souffle was not very light, but rather dense, but it did have a great flavor. On wednesday's they offer 5 different Schnitzel's which I plan on trying. read more
