I had a bowl with meat, hummus, fresh veggies, pickled onions, crispy chickpeas, and all the toppings--it was SO good! The pita was warm and fresh too. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. But I have to give a special shoutout to the Mandarin Cardamom drink--OH. MY. GOODNESS. So first let me say that I'm Greek, and the downfall of most Greek restaurants is that their pricing strategy fails, meaning they give you way too much food for the price - because that's how we're hardwired - and they lose money on every plate. The flip side is when they charge too much and build a gyro, for example, with tiny scraps of tomato, six fries at the most, the tiniest bit of tsatziki on the pita (a tiny plastic cup with a bit more? +50¢) AND - unless you invest an additional $3.50 for 'double meat' as I did, it's almost not worth it. The GOOD news is, that first bite of steak almost brought tears to my eyes it was so delicious, tender, perfectly cooked medium rare, and seasoned apparently by the gods. The pita was equally yummy. AND I did get $5 off my first order under their new rewards program, but I did have to spend $20 to get it. So... their miserly approach to ingredients may keep them in business BUT will I pay $17 again for a steak souvlaki pita any time soon? Probably not. read more

This is a long overdue review! First off, if you're looking for Greek/Mediterranean food that is reasonably-priced, fast and good quality look no further than Nick the Greek! We attended their grand opening a couple of years ago and it was awesome. Even after? We still come to this location about every-so-often. We just went again about a week and a half ago and still the service does not disappoint. The food is flavorful with great servings and the ambiance, restaurant dining area is clean, open and bright. Unfortunately, this isn't the best place to eat if you're craving Greek food. I was disappointed in the tzatziki sauce which usually has a rich, creamy flavor, but this one tasted overly sour. The chicken was also bland and lacked seasoning and the fries, soggy. I even braved a second visit and ordered a falafel bowl but was disappointed again. Decent Greek spot, especially for a time crunch. They moved quickly, which I appreciated as someone with a narrow 25 minute window for lunch. I opted for the beef and lamb combo plate. It satisfied my cravings for something tasty yet still somewhat healthy. My to-go box came with an adequate portion of protein and plenty of vegetables. The pita is somewhat unique in a good way -- it has this mildly savory taste to it. The dude at the counter was cordial. We have been wanting to try this place for awhile I would say it was pretty good we both ordered the chicken gyro the meat didn't have a lot of flavor but there mustard sauce was delicious. I will say it was pretty filling, there French fries are pretty tasty. My favorite thing was the baklava. I thought it was delicious. My sister and I did a quick Google search for a Greek place. This place came up, so we thought we'd check it out. I guess it's a chain, but no worries..... We had been snacking all day, so I ordered the kids place...protein, rice, and pita. I said chicken, and the cashier was friendly, and suggested I get the chicken kebab rather then the sliced chicken. Good choice. The chicken kabob was surprisingly juicy, the rice was flavorful, and the pita did NOT taste like a generic store brand...as opposed to other similar restaurants I have tried. Went there for a late afternoon lite lunch. OMG!! Got a pork belly gyro & an order of Loukoumades. So very glad we stopped. The gyro was more than I needed to eat, but one bite and I knew there would be nothing left. It was fabulous. The meat was so tender and perfectly piggy without being salty like bacon. The produce was fresh and tastes were separate. YUM to the max. Tzatziki sauce was delish and a perfect balance to the umami of the pork, and the fresh pita and produce. It turned into an early dinner cuz I ate the whole thing. The loukoumades were fried balls of dough, Greek Beignets- w honey, walnuts & cinnamon. So good, DH & I ate all six. I love Nick the Greek and I've tried a few in the area, and I've also eaten at a few Nick the Greek's in the Bay Area as well. This particular Nick the Greek in Fair Oaks (5355 Sunrise Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628) is pretty darn good. The service is great, and the manager that is running this particular Nick the Greek knows what they are doing. I get the Chicken Gyro and the seasoning on that chicken is hella good. Plus the fries are hot and fresh. I remember eating at the Nick the Greek in San Carlos, CA (on Laurel street) and they would use old fries that are not even fresh. That Nick the Greek is not good and one time I got the Chicken Gyro and it had a ton of fatty, nasty chicken pieces. This one in Fair Oaks on the other hand, is super good. Chicken is fresh, well seasoned, and they actually give you good quality pieces of chicken or meat. The rice in the rice bowl is also delicious too. Nice experience, first time here and never heard of it. It's a little tucked away in the plaza but it's visible from the street. Gabe helped us out and he was great very friendly and good attention to detail. The inside and outside his place is really nice though pretty upscale I would say it's one of the higher quality Greek places. Order the classic gyro l with lamb and beef. It was pretty good I like that it stayed stayed together with the bread often times it falls apart. My friends didn't like the garlic fries too much. Froyo was very good honey. Yesterday I stopped in for dinner. The cashier didn't ask me if I had a rewards account. I do. I was very hungry and don't eat here regularly so I didn't think to mention it. When I asked her after sitting down, she said, no, she can't do anything about my meal not being on my rewards account. Further annoying is that their rewards account doesn't print a tally of points. You have to download their app. And no thanks. Very few businesses get the privilege of existing on my personal device. When I checked in on the Yelp app (after sitting down), it popped up that there's a free baklava with check-in. I asked to redeem it. The girl said, "no, I can't" without asking anyone for help. That would have gotten me fired or I would have received a written warning at her age if I had responded like that. A coworker of hers remedied the baklava situation but said she can't do anything about the lost rewards purchase. Another issue - the males who work here cannot urinate *inside* the toilet. All three times I've patronized Nick's, there's been urine on the floor around the toilet. And it's not a small amount. I've patronized places that are busy and there's no urine on the bathroom floor. I told one of the cashiers. She said, "yeah, it's gross" but didn't do anything about it. If the establishment I'm patronizing (1) has employees or patrons constantly missing the toilet because they aren't standing close enough to the porcelain and the urine is all over the floor, and (2) the employees don't clean it up, there's serious sanitary issues and it repulses me. What other sanitary issues are present? I can't eat with circumstances and awareness of such things. It made it worse that one of the male workers was staring at me. And women, you know what I'm talking about in this instance. And we don't like it. Side note: the pork belly gyro meat wasn't very good. Lamb/beef gyro is better and the mustard that they have is not good. I don't believe I'll return. read more

I am no stranger to "Nick The Greek" as I have written reviews at some of their other Northern California locations (Vacaville & Davis). So when I heard one of their restaurants were going to open in my neck of the woods, I was absolutely ecstatic. However, this location took quite awhile to open as their "coming soon" was posted to the businesses exterior dating back to the summer of 2023. Jump forward roughly 9 months later and this place finally opened its doors on Tuesday 2/27/2024. Located at the Quail Pointe Shopping Center at Sunrise Blvd and adjacent to Madison Ave. in Fair Oaks, this place took over the space of where a Starbucks once stood for many years. I ended up coming here for lunch during the afternoon of Sunday 3/3/2024 at around 1:45pm. As far as the space, it neighbors a "Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop" as well as a nearby sushi restaurant. They do provide very ample seating outside but as far as the inside goes, it is actually quite cramped. Since this place was only on its 6th day of being opened for business, there was a packed house of customers. Their menu board was displayed on multiple LED screens. Additionally, they have enough seating for roughly 35 guests max, a self-serve fountain drink area, a condiment area, and two restrooms. Since I was already familiar with their menu, I went with their "Beef/Lamb Gyro Pita" (for $11.95) and made it a combo (for an additional $4.50) complete with their signature Greek fries and a soft drink. After placing my order, my food is brought to me in roughly 6 short minutes. I will say that for the $18 that I spent for everything (2024 prices), this was quite a filling meal. The gyro was exactly the same consistency, flavor, and generous portion of meat that I had experienced at their other locations. And they did not disappoint with the Tzatziki sauce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onions. The Greek fries also had the perfect balance with the feta cheese and green onions. All in all, I came hungry and left very satisfied. All in all, with the above average service, hearty portions, fair prices, and great location, I am giving the Fair Oaks "Nick the Greek" a unanimous five stars. read more
