I recently tried Nick the Greek and it was such a solid spot for a fresh, flavorful meal. I ordered the Mediterranean bowl with beef, and my friend got the lamb pita, both were really yummy. The bowl had a great mix of fresh ingredients, from crisp veggies to perfectly seasoned grains and sauces that tied everything together so well. The beef itself was super tender and cooked perfectly, which really stood out. My friend's lamb pita was just as good it was juicy, flavorful, and wrapped up with all the right toppings. We both kept saying how it reminded us of Cava in SoCal--it's honestly a pretty close dupe, which I loved. The only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because I wish there was a bit more meat in the portions. That said, the quality definitely made up for it since everything was so well-prepared and satisfying. Nick the Greek is good when you're in a hurry for take out. It's not quite fast food, but close-ish. I most recently ordered the Tahini Crunch Salad, a Veggie Pita, and fries. Both items were good, although not really authentic tasting. If you just keep in mind that it's fast greek vs authentic all day slow cooked greek, then you're better off with any expectations. Of the two employees I interacted with, the young man was nice and helpful, and the woman was hurried and annoyed with me for asking where utensils and napkins were. read more

I got the gyro platter with fries - the fries take up most of the space and are like TASTELESS CARDBOARD - they were like that even when they were hot, eating them 2 minutes after the order came out. They are very obviously leftover fries that have been reheated. Kitchen staff - have you zero pride in what you serve? I mean, they are so so so bad. The gyro is sparse and bland. The sauce comes in the absolute smallest tiniest little container. The whole thing is really pathetic. I was there with my mom and friend on Wednesday evening at 5pm. After placing my order, they asked if I would be eating there or want the order to go. I said we were going to sit outside and eat. About 5 minutes later I went back inside and saw a tray with most of my order, but not the froyo, which my mom was having for dinner. (She's 81 - - let her eat froyo for dinner.) There was also a customer in front of me waiting for something so I had no way to reach my tray. About 2 minutes later the woman leaves with 2 froyos. (I thought the guy was making mine to complete the order so I continued waiting.) I finally say, "That's my order, but it's missing the FroYo." He forgot it so starts making it. At that point I try a fry and it's cold so I say, "I'm sorry, but the fries are now cold." Instead of doing the right thing and saying, "No problem" and fixing the issue, a different woman behind the counter says, "That's not our fault. We don't provide table service." There was literally one other customer in the restaurant and 3 people working front of house. I said, "Ok - - but my order wasn't ready til now. That's not my fault..." She didn't make a move to help. So I said, "Are you seriously not going to try to correct this issue?" The fact that I had to say anything more was pretty crazy. She just looked at me. I again said, "Seriously?" She finally grabbed the fries off the tray and said something I couldn't hear to the kitchen staff and and they gave me a new one, telling me that they'll only do this THIS TIME. I spent $60 and tipped 20% for no table service. I will never go back. I don't blame the staff. I blame the owners for not training their employees how to treat customers. read more

Greenbrae's Bon Air shopping center is evolving and suddenly features a plethora of places from which to fill your stomach quickly. With the addition of the newly opened Nick the Greek, this part of Marin adds a new fast food option which, in these parts, is not unwelcome. I was one of the hundreds who queued up on the day that this outpost was offering free food to all comers and waited about 90 minutes to order and be served. The staff was downright joyful and the attitude trickled through the line; waiting was fun, not a torturous act and they kept the queue satisfied by providing sample-sized offerings of their delicious Greek froyo for which I can easily envision returning. The menu is wide-ranging featuring gyros, souvlaki, salads, and bowls with protein choices of falafel, lamb, beef, pork, pork belly, and chicken. I changed my order 100 times while queuing but finally settled on a Gyro Bowl (normally $13.25) with choice of protein (beef). This proved to be a whole lot of value for the listed price. I can't pretend that Nick the Greek is competing in the area of classic Mediterranean fare. They are operating in the category of "fast food" and I got halfway through my Gyro Bowl before tiring of the fast-food taste, something I never do with more authentic fare. But as fast food fare goes? It's nice to have this category of fare represented. Nick the Greek is a great addition to Bon Air and should get a lot of traction from students at the nearby high schools. For me? With the exception of In n' Out or any taqueria I'm not big on fast food fare but I'm certain I'll be back for the froyo and for what is the only place I've ever found to offer up Diet Dr. Pepper as a fountain soda. Nick The Greek may be a chain restaurant but it has a nicer, locally owned feel to it in my opinion. The employees are very nice and the place is super clean. I'm really excited about the Falafel Pita (just remove the Tzatziki and it's vegan). It's really, really good and it's nice to have as a treat once in a while. They have pretty great french fries as well. Bon Center, where it's located, has plenty of parking so everything about an experience here is easy. We'll be back on a regular basis! read more

Delightful addition to the neighborhood. Food is filling and delicious - chicken is tender and moist. Frozen yogurt with baklava and honey are a delightful treat! Their chicken souvlaki pita has an amazing sauce - highly recommend. Their bowls are more hearty and savory with more texture and variety, also recommend! Owner is a total sweetheart, and the staff have been going above and beyond to make the restaurant a warm and welcoming place. Also love that they're open late. With the exception of frozen yogurt (tough to beat Straus organic), Nick the Greek is 100x better than Souvla and I am sooo grateful they've opened up at Bon Air! Keep up the great work! read more

So disappointing. I had the lamb/ beef plate with pita and added a side of hummus, and it was all sooooo dry, including the hummus (how?). Not to mention, it was $5 to add hummus which was a tiny scoop alongside the flavorless fries, meat and tomatoes. An extra star because the frozen yogurt is edible. GLUTEN FREE EATERS BEWARE! The Staff kwno nothing about ingredients. I ordered a gluten free dish for my wife, who has celiac disease and can get sick if she eats wheat. The staff assured me it was GF. I took it home and found pita bread mixed in the meal. When I returned the meal and asked for my money back, the manager told me pita bread was gluten free (it is made of wheat flour) and did not want to do anything. After an argument she only gave me partial credit. She refused to give me the contact information for the owner or the company. I checked online and Nick The Greek does not publish their phone number or email. They have a customer service form which does not work. OBVIOUSLY THE COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

The gyro sandwich was standard in taste and generous in its portion of meat. Counter service was what I expected. The restaurant was clean.

This place is great! Starting from entering - it's spacious with ample tables/seating inside and out. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was - someone was cleaning every surface inside and out. When I went to order, the people behind the counter were very kind and gave me recommendations since it was my first time at Nick the Greek. I ordered the Beef and Lamb Gyro and a side of vegetable falafels. I got it to go - my food was ready quick and packaged well. I was surprised at the size of the portions! Nick the Greek has been one of my go to places since discovering them in Novato. Now to have them closer in Greenbrae is even better. Ordered online today for takeout and everything went smoothly, pick up was quick and easy & ready for the scheduled pick up time. However once arriving to work, I realized that I was missing the side salad from the combo that I paid extra for, which sucked. Things happen though, and they were busy at the time. Food though was still delicious, and this isn't going to deter me from going again. Just going to have to check my order before leaving. read more

I loved the spiciness of the falafel pita and would definitely get it again. By contrast, I found the beef/lamb meat used in the beef/lamb gyro fairly tasteless. I tried pepping the meat up with some hot sauce, but it didn't hide the tasteless meat. The salads are good and contain more than just lettuce. read more

Sadly, this location should go out of business. This is the second time in a row the food quality was so poor (dried out lamb, rice, etc.), it was hardly edible. Contrasted with the Novato location, which serves excellent quality food, the Greenbrae location apparently has NO MANAGER. I was told by one of the employess that not only was no manager on duty, but the store incredibly operates without any manager, at all, which explains everything. read more
