chicken gyro pita wrap, chicken gyro bowl
    Lauren H.

The size of the bowls here are huge! I got the pork gyro bowl, which had a nice mix of everything - rice, veggies, protein. The meat was well seasoned and the veggies made it more refreshing. My friend got a wrap, which looked good too - I'd come back to try the pita based items and frozen yogurt. Parking can be tricky, but this location has a huge seating space which is a plus.

I ordered ubereats of Nick the Greek because I was craving a gyro bowl. It wasn't bad but it was underwhelming and did not hit the spot. The tzatziki has a weird bland flavour and the bowls didn't have much variety. Also, the actual gyros were not flavourful at all and they didn't even have any salt. Overall, it was really unseasoned and they also skimped out on filling the bowls. The food definitely needs some work.

Love Nick the Greek! It's my go to take out for something a little bit better for you that always tastes good. I've tried lots of stuff on the menu and I don't really think yo can go wrong. The fro yo is a new try this time and I loved the baklava and honey add on - so good. Service is quick, staff is nice and restaurant is clean .

The woman at the front was very patient with me and answered anything questions I asked. There was ample seating for a casual sit-in. The lamb-beef gyro pita was decent. The texture of the fries, pita, meat, and sauces were a nice blend. The ingredients tasted fresh and I would stop by again!

Again, solid take out place in Westwood village. The platters are so filling and the service is quick (~20-30min delivery if you call to ucla campus)

Overall super happy with my meal at nick the Greek! Great portion for the price, freshly made, good pita. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I go the chicken gyro plate and added a chicken souvlaki skewer. Salad was good, chicken souvlaki and gyro were both good, pita solid with tasty hummus. No complaints! Would def come back.

Barely any rice in this container

First you are welcomed by the worst energy from people who look like they don't want to be there, then you have to pay almost 2.50 for one sauce you don't even get a free sauce with the food you purchase! Got a side of rice the container is barely filled half way, with these crazy prices you might as well give good portions.[[HIGHLIGHT]]definitely understand why its empty in there[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Kudos to Nick The Greek restaurant for the delicious and authentic beef/lamb, chicken and vegetarian gyros! Bursting with ingredients in greek mediterranean flavors these babies can fill you up good yet still wanting for more. Thank you Nick The Greek for your food donation to the American Red Cross HQ, last Sunday, Jan 26, 2025. I was there as one of the volunteers and I salute your generosity to the men and women who devote their time helping victims of LA wildfires. Let us support restaurants like Nick The Greek who in turn support disaster relief programs!

Solid 4 stars, Nick the Greek is a standout in Westwood and offers all the gyro and souvlaki you could crave. Also, they have an absolutely delicious baklaka and honey topped greek yogurt froyo that cannot be found anywhere else easily. Very tasty and summer-appropriate! 4 stars because of the portion size of the wrap and the price of the overall combo but otherwise on par with Westwood prices but 4.5 because the staff was so awesome!!! Ordered the chicken souklava- heavy on the sauce and I wish I had ordered less sauce, but the flavors were great, and it was a surprise to see some fries tucked in (distinctive!). Upgraded to combo just for the Nick's fries (and I ate that up so fast I can confirm they are good.) Fries were crispy and thin, just the way one should like them, and the toppings were mmmm. The wonderful lady at the front offered me a taste of the greek yogurt froyo, which convinced me to definitely want to cone back and order their baklava topped greek yogurt froyo! Tart, cold, and yummy. I was glad to note it wasn't too sweet! Thanks for a delicious meal and wonderful service (5 stars for the service alone), Nick the Greek! Updated to 3 stars because I got a major headache from the sugar, fat, salt and sauce shortly after eating half of the souklava and fries, so note to myself I probably won't be back since I usually like to stick with cleaner eating that doesn't leave me feeling headachey.

The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with some indoor limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers.  COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination.  While I was here eating my food in this establishment a month ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. But this isn't strictly enforced. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is incredibly small. They have valet parking. I urge you to park on the street. However, be wary of the signs. On one side, there is a no parking sign on Wednesdays from 12PM - 3PM. On the other side, it says no parking on Thursdays from 12PM - 3PM. Basically don't go there on Monday and Tuesday (they are closed) and Wednesday and Thursdays for horrible street parking. It is a shame that a cute mom and pop restaurant closed. I am sad that I did not know about it sooner. I would have came more frequently. They have been opened since 1948. Very impressive! Food: I ordered a baklava, spanakopita, and gyro sandwich. The house made baklava went perfect with my coffee the next day. A delicious start to a new day. The baklava combines layers of honey-soaked crisp phyllo pastry and a cinnamon-scented nut mixture with pistachios, walnuts, and hazelnut. To me, nothing rivals homemade baklava. The texture of crispy and flaky phyllo pastry. The crunchy filling. And the warm honey syrup. It is all I want in a dessert / breakfast. The spanakopita was very delicious and filling. This spanakopita had sauteed spinach, feta cheese and seasonings, all wrapped up in phyllo dough and baked until golden brown and crisp. It's the perfect blend of spinach, cheese, onions, and herbs in a buttery crust. It was very savory. The gyro sandwich was so mouthwatering. My gyro sandwich included succulent, marinated, and seasoned lamb and beef grilled to perfection. Then it was wrapped up with fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and feta cheese in warm, soft, and slightly chewy pita, and slathered in delicious homemade creamy tzatziki sauce. I got a pistachio yogurt bar from their mini deli and market area. It was so nutty, creamy, and rich. Perfect for a hot summer's day. I love that they use real pistachio with yogurt to make it. None of the fake artificial stuff was used. Glad I didn't offer my close friend a bite of this otherwise he would have suffered a severe allergic reaction in the restaurant. That would have made the dining experience incredibly memorable, and not in a good way LOL I love that they have a complimentary water station for customers to grab as much water as they want. Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

After leaving DTLA to work in the suburbs, I haven't been back and sad to say, it took a looming permanent closure to bring me back. What I loved about the place is still tried and true: a free parking lot (just need to tip the valet) and delicious Greek good. I don't eat lamb so my go to back then was the fish sandwich. I got it again, over 10 years later, and it is still as good as remembered. Prices have doubled (what can you expect in our current economy T_T), but the portion is still generous and the food still fresh and yummy. I brought BF and we ordered a spread enough for a family of four: spanakopita, tiropita, sausage appetizer, gyro sandwich, beef kefta patties sandwich (they were out of the beef kebab), fish sandwich, chicken kebab plate, and loukoumades dessert. Everything was fresh, light and delicious (okay, the dessert was a little too sweet for me)! We also grabbed a $3.99 baguette from the connected market. If you're planning on coming for one last visit before they close that first weekend of May 2025, make sure to come early and queue in the front of the store. The line will move and there should still be plenty of seating available after you order. If you come within the last 30 minutes before closing, you'll have to order to go. The employees here are still as courteous and friendly as ever. We were also jazzed to be graced with the presence of Chrys Chrys himself on our visit. We will miss you, Papa Cristo's!

I still remember trying Atherina (fried smelts) for the first time. I couldn't believe how much I liked them and ever since then, this spot has been a staple for me and my partner. Yes, this is a long overdue review;) My absolute favorite dish is the Kotopoulo (grilled chicken with Greek potatoes in lemon and herb sauce) - 5/5 The chicken is always juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, and those potatoes are the perfect pairing, zesty, herby, and comforting. It's the dish I always look forward to. Other favorites worth mentioning: Paidakia (char-grilled lamb chops) - 5/5 Phenomenal and full of flavor. Hitapodi (char-grilled octopus with AC vinaigrette, oregano & fava purée) -4/5 Perfectly prepared and very tasty. Taverna (bean purée with yellow split pea, olive oil, spices & tahini) - 4/5 A smooth, flavorful starter. Pita wrap - 3/5 Decent, but not as memorable as the other dishes. Their salads are also excellent. I rotate between the Sparta, Horiatiki, and Mikonos (my personal favorite for the arugula). For drinks, the hibiscus margarita is always my go-to. If you're into mules, the Mikonos Mule is unique, but fair warning, it has a strong black licorice taste that not everyone will enjoy. Two years ago we celebrated my girlfriend's mother's birthday here, and once again, the food and service were excellent. Jessica, who often takes care of us, is one of the best, always upbeat, kind, and full of positive energy. She makes every visit feel special. The vibe is casual and lively, with open seating, TVs showing sports, and a full bar. On weekends, they offer brunch and a Sunday barbecue on the patio, which my partner swears is great (still on my list to try). Mar Vista Tavern is truly a neighborhood gem. You'll see families, friends, and locals gathering here, and the vibe is always welcoming. Great food, top-notch service, and a place that keeps us coming back.

I finally had the chance to stop in for a solo early dinner, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the Lule Kabob Combo ($22), which included skewers of minced beef and chicken, rice, veggies, pita, hummus, and a side salad. The highlights of the meal were definitely the salad and the grilled tomato; the pomegranate seeds in the rice were also a nice touch. However, the meats weren't to my taste--the chicken had an odd aftertaste, and while the beef was better, neither really worked for me. Adding the provided sumac and lemon helped, but I wouldn't order the kebabs again. Additionally, the hummus lacked creaminess, and the pita tasted like it was mass-produced rather than fresh. On the positive side, the portion sizes are very generous for the price point, and I left feeling full. I also have to mention that the patio is adorable and very "Instagrammable," so it's a great spot if you're looking for a photo-friendly environment. A quick note for future visitors: they are currently having issues with their card reader and are requesting cash or Zelle. It felt a little unusual to be rung up on a register only to pay via Zelle, but it wasn't a major deal. While I appreciated the atmosphere and value, the food itself just wasn't for me, so I likely won't be returning.

So many sides to choose from, just depends on what mood I am in. I wish I had written reivews in the past, because unfortunately the price and quality doesn't seem the same for my usual plate, but some of the other items were really good. I placed a delivery order on Uber eats. We ordered: Calamari Pan Seared Veggies Penne with Butter and Parmesan (BOGO) Lemon Chicken Pita Sandwich Gyro Plate Appetizers: Calamari - there was A LOT of calamari in this order. It took us a couple of sittings to eat it all. I even took some to work the next day. My only issue was that it seemed over fried so it lost the texture of the squid inside and I wasn't too fond of the sauce that it came with. Pan Seared Veggies - These were quite good! My toddler loved the broccoli. There was zucchinni, squash, mushrooms, onions, carrots and broccoli. It was seasoned very well and the broccoli had a nice char at the tops. Entrees: Penne with Butter and Parmesan - They should add garlic to that as well. I really enjoyed that part. Definitely a lot of butter, but it settled to the bottom so the noodles weren't too greasy. Toddler loved it.. but there sure was a lot of it. It comes with a little side of bread with cheese on it as well Lemon Chicken Pita Sandwich - My husband really liked this. He basically ate it 2 nights in a row. He really liked how the chicken tasted but he questioned the random 2 fries they added into the pita (he thought they were rougue fries that fell in until he saw it in the 2nd pita as well). Gryo Plate - House salad and Rice Pilaf So I'm not sure if this was an Uber thing or from the restaurant, but the base price did NOT include the sides. All sides were an additional $3 and up and you were required to pick 2. The base price was $23.95, then with 2 $3 sides it came out to $30 for my plate. I still got it because they have my favorite gyros. It definitely came with a good amount of protein, but it was strange that I didn't get a salad dressing, just 2 containers of tzatziki. It just didn't quite taste as good as before. Maybe it was on off day, but this dish was very disappointing since I spent so much on it. They do have the BOGO offers though, that was nice.

What we ordered- We always start with the duck hummus and chicken liver, rich, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with their fluffy pita. The lamb neck shawarma is a non-negotiable, falls right off the bone, juicy, and comes with the perfect accompaniments. We also got the grilled dorade and oyster mushrooms, both are consistently excellent. This time we swapped our usual shrimp for the crudo and peach salad, and honestly, both were amazing. Still team shrimp overall, but it just goes to show you really can't go wrong with anything on this menu. Service is always attentive and the ambiance is upscale with lots of natural lights and greenery. Parking - There is valet parking and a pay to park lot across the street by Girl and the Goat. While there is street parking in the area, I've noticed a lot of smashed glass from break ins. (I've also had my car broken into before by the pottery studio ... they stole my pink picnic blanket)

Because of Bavel's outstanding reputation, we were excited to celebrate such a special occasion here. The food was excellent, and our server was attentive and professional. Unfortunately, the dining environment significantly detracted from what should have been a memorable evening. Our party of seven was seated at the chef's table directly adjacent to the open-flame kitchen on a day when temperatures were around 90 degrees. The heat at our table was overwhelming, especially for those seated with their backs to the kitchen. Several members of our party, including elderly family members, were extremely uncomfortable throughout much of the meal. Adding to that, the constant shouting of orders from the kitchen made it difficult for our family to have conversations during our daughter's engagement celebration. We understand that many guests enjoy sitting near an open kitchen, but on this particular evening the combination of the kitchen heat and what appeared to be inadequate air conditioning made the experience far less enjoyable than we expected. Even our son and his family, who have dined at Bavel many times, commented that this was not consistent with their previous experiences. Bavel's food deserves its reputation, but comfort is also an important part of a fine dining experience. Unfortunately, the excessive heat and noise overshadowed what should have been a joyful family celebration. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues so future guests can enjoy the exceptional meal in a more comfortable environment.

This cozy neighborhood spot (formerly Freedman's) has that perfect casual-yet-vibrant vibe--think breezy Greek taverna meets LA cool--with excellent charcoal-grilled dishes and a great all-Greek wine list. The service was genuinely amazing. Our server Petra took incredible care of us from start to finish--attentive, knowledgeable, and warm without being over-the-top. And shoutout to the incredible bartender Penny. The whole team made us feel right at home. We went family-style and ordered a fantastic spread: * The lamb was a highlight--tender, perfectly grilled, and packed with flavor * Saganaki was cheesy, crispy, and fun. * Branzino came beautifully grilled with bright lemon orzo--fresh, flaky, and spot-on. * Mushrooms were earthy and well-seasoned. * Crispy fries were addictive. * We ended on a sweet note with honey balls (those little fried dough bites drizzled in honey--crispy, sticky, and addictive) and the baklava pie. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and meant for sharing. Portions lean toward the smaller side (typical for meze-style Greek plates), so ordering a variety works perfectly for a group. Greekman's hits that sweet spot of quality ingredients, simple execution done right, and welcoming hospitality. Whether you're in the vine-covered patio, intimate dining room, or at the speakeasy-style bar, it's a winner. We'll definitely be back--highly recommend!

I had the chicken souvlaki (which was super tasty) with a big piece of pita (fresh) and the herbed rice (also very tasty), as well as the very lemony potatoes, which was crisp and yes, lemony, but not too sour, just the right amount. We also got the honey balls, which were sort of churro-ish but balls. The place was also nice and clean (though a little too dark if, like me, you get there early and have to kill time before the rest of your party arrives, so you try to read, but can't), and the staff was helpful and friendly. So, what do you need to be prepared for? Well, they usually serve stuff family style. Because of this, things don't come out at all once. In our case, we got the pita a good 10-15 minutes before the chicken. But while this would normally be a blemish, it wasn't because not only did my friends tell me this would happen, but so did our server. Which is why I'll go again, especially since I now know what to expect. One last note: the place is in a strip mall, and while I had no problem finding a spot, my friends had to go elsewhere.
