Our server was Connor and he was Nick Manhattan's material. What does that mean for us? Well, he was professional, on point, communicated to us the whole time & was pleasant. Great service from him and everyone who helped as well (different staff cleared the tables & filled our water glasses). We were happy because we have had several poor experiences, but we like this location. Overall, service is good from the hostess stand, servers and bar area.

Dinner at Nick's Manhattan Beach was such a great experience. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Around the table, my group had the Cuban sandwich and the steak & baked potato pie, and everyone was really happy with their dishes. We started with appetizers and shared the spinach dip and shrimp taquitos, both of which were great starters and easy to share. I was hoping to try one of the pasta dishes, but they were all out--which honestly just tells you how popular they must be. Definitely gives me a reason to come back. The ambiance was one of my favorite parts: dark, cozy, and warm with a really nice vibe. Service was attentive and pleasant without being overbearing, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Parking tip for future visits: we initially parked down the street, but realized there's a lot directly across from the restaurant, which is super convenient. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, and solid service. I'd absolutely return--and next time I'm getting the pasta if it's available.

Great food, great venue, great drinks. We tried the Thai coconut shrimp roll as an app. It was awesome. Ribs and beef dip for entrees were great. While not on the menu, they make a great Bloody Mary. A must visit if you're spending time in Manhattan Beach.

What a great, upscale restaurant a block away from the beach. There's plenty of parking and it's free right now for Christmas. There's lots of delicious food options and the bar happy hour was great too. We sat out on the patio and the heaters were on above us so it was a little toasty. My ribs were delicious and I loved the kale salad that came with them. The butter cake melted in my mouth. Not cheap ( $38 for ribs and $18 for a glass of wine). Wait staff were very attentive and were constantly coming to our table to refill water glasses and pick up empty dishes. Great social place to get together with friends.

Disappointed by last experience at Nick's. A restaurant that we have gone to many times for business and pleasure in Manhattan Beach and Carlsbad! The consistency in food quality is lacking! This was evident during our last visit to the Manhattan Beach Restaurant. My husband I stopped in late afternoon to grab some refreshments and a meal at the bar. As always the service at the bar for drinks was excellent: especially the bar back. A very hard working women who loves her job. Our experience with food and service was another story. We started out with appetizers: decided to try something new....the bear offered several sushi options so chose to try this over our standard asparagus appetizer. When it took approximately 30 minutes to get sushi we knew something was wrong. Our second clue was when the wait staff was avoiding us until somebody finally approached us and said sorry, we need to make the sushi again. After hearing this I was second guessing our option... especially after 30 minutes. Note restaurant was empty when we ordered. We finally received our sushi and the shrimp inside was minimal, almost a joke and over fried and cooked. The sushi texture was tough and frankly the order was not edible. We had to send it back. We also order a steak and the infamous stuff potato. The steak was ok but I think the quality of cut was different than I remember. The potato was a bit too salty for me: I know there's always a salt coating on the outside but seems to be overpowering. Also I was sad to hear my Bees Knee drink was taken off the money. This is a classic drink. This restaurant made it perfectly with its fresh juices! I was told to mention this to corporate. With an experience like this: and given there is a lot of like restaurants to Nick's we may choose to spend our money elsewhere where we can expect consistent food quality.

Came here around lunch weekday and was not busy. Was seated and got food pretty quickly. Service was good. List of food we tried recently and in the past. 1. Pan seared salmon. My go to dish. Salmon is tender and not dry. Like the tartness on the spinach and the creamy potatoes 2. Blue crab crispy roll: okay... Wouldn't get it again 3. Chicken lemon piccata: tasted better when I had dine in but was not good with take out. not as flavorful and a bit dry. 4. Cheeseburger: solid but not anything special 5. Asparagus fries: good but too pricy. 6. Bistro plate: what's not to like. Trio of a nice steak with soup/salad to make a balance meal, great! 7. San Francisco cioppino: great flavor and perfect for cold weather. Good to share as well

Dinner was supposed to be a casual burger spot. Turns out we accidentally walked into a fancy restaurant where we were wildly underdressed and carrying enough beach sand to start our own dune ecosystem. But honestly? The food was ok but we were hungry. My one kids happily devoured chicken fingers while the other somehow ate my entire Chilean sea bass. I may have gotten two bites. We also had to threaten "NO DESSERT" unless they ate their spinach melody. Miraculously, parenting worked for once. The people at the restaurant were really nice and friendly. We didn't have to wait too long. The ambience was really nice. We were sitting on the porch, but the heater was going on so I was actually not too bad restaurant was fully booked. it seemed like a lot of people were there. We also had the French dip would not recommend that for a future time. I saw the ribs. I wish I seen those earlier. The ribs looked really good, but did not get a chance to eat them I kind of wish that they had some bread or some type of chips cause I feel like that type of environment at the beginning.

Great first visit. We were in the area and stopped in- I'm glad we did! Excellent service from Connor, he was attentive and helpful. We had a Dirty Martini and an iced tea. Food wise we had: Shrimp Taquitos- large shrimp and tasty. Spicy tuna rolls- freshly made and delicious The SF Cioppino- tomato base and delicious with shrimp clams and halibut. Large bowl was $38. Rounded off with the California salad. Great food and amazing ambience. We will return soon.

Chicken Katsu Salad was ON POINT!!! So dang good. GET THIS!!!

Nick's Manhattan Beach was a perfect choice for our grown ups only lunch with my husband's family. Parking was crazy during the time we went around 2pm. We were driving around for 15 minutes trying to find parking. Funny enough, we finally snagged a space in the parking lot across from Nick's. 2 hour metered parking limit. Ugh. We had a reservation for 10 guests. They sat us at a big round table on the patio. Adeli was our lovely server and she was very sweet and attentive for the duration of our dining experience. Amazing service. The menu looked so good. Everything was pricey, especially considering it was only lunch time. But this is a nice restaurant too so the prices don't really shock me either. I opted for the Chicken Katsu Salad. The salad had Chicken Katsu, mango, heirloom tomatoes, red peppers, crispy carrots, serrano peppers, peanuts, napa cabbage, arugula, asian cilantro dressing. Yummy! I was super happy with my choice because the presentation was on point but more importantly, all the flavors complimented each other. The textures of this salad were on point. Chicken Katsu was fresh and crispy and was a nice touch to the salad all in all. The Blackened Fish Sandwich was a popular item. I almost ordered that too but all the salads looked unique and tasty. Prime Rib Dip Sandwich looked appealing too as I'm a big fan of French Dip sandwiches all in all. It was a nice day out with the grown ups and no kids. Nick's was the perfect spot with delicious food, good drinks, great service and the whole vibe/ambiance. I would highly recommend this spot for a nice meal. DO IT!!!

Great restaurant! We had a great time here and always have do. Servers are great, place is great, food and drinks are awesome. I don't have anything bad to say about any of it. We had a great dinner and the price was reasonable for an upscale place. We plan to come back again and again.

We had such a great experience thanks to our server Victor. You can really tell when someone genuinely knows proper serving etiquette and takes pride in what they do. He was so polite, attentive, respectful, and had such a warm personality. The food was pretty good, satisfying.

Nick's never disappoints. The blackened fish sandwich was perfect, and the spinach dip is a must every time. Service was wonderful, and the ambiance was nice and quiet great for actually enjoying your meal. One of my favs.

Ask the Community - Nick's Manhattan Beach

Is there a private dining room with a TV for projecting a powerpoint? How quiet is the room for doing a dinner seminar on a Tuesday or Thursday night?

No, the unfortunately they don't have private space like that. It's open patios around the front and that's it.

Is this place good for small children?

If you sit on the patio it is good for kids so they can move around. The food choices are a little more upscale so depending on how picky they are, there may not be a lot of options.

Do you have a Brunch Menu?

When I dine there right when they open, they only had 1 menu. You can always double check on their website as well.

Does anyone ever answer the phone? What times do people answer the phone? I tried at 30 minutes until…

I've called to get a reservation in the afternoon when I couldn't find one on OpenTable. They do answer their phones!

Is this a good place to have young kids at?

Yes, lots of space and not loud

Do they have free wifi, Can i bring my laptop?

I don't see why not, Sure you can

Do you have Casamigos Reposado?

Hello, Yes we carry Casamigos Reposado

What is your corkage fee?

We are pleased to cork up to three 750mL bottles of wine per party for a corkage fee of $15 per 750mL bottle.

Is there a dress code?

It's pretty casual so no

What's are some great entrees to order?

Fried chicken sandwich, fish tacos, kale quinoa salad with salmon, thai noodles.

Will you be open on Christmas Day this year?

Please know we will be closed on December 25th and reopen on December 26th, so our associates may enjoy the day with family and friends.…

Do they have happy hour? When and what times?

No happy hour

Is the patio dog-friendly?

We love our furry friends at Nick’s! Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate pets on the patio and in our dining areas.

I don't see any steaks on the menu?

Yes, they usually have a steak on menu

Are there highchairs?

We brought our own "hook onto table-type of seat" but it would be so simple to just call the restaurant and ask, wouldn't it?

Reservations required or recommended?

Not required but definitely recommended. Gets pretty busy around dinner. Try the Seafood Cioppino, really good!!

Do they serve mimosas here?

On the weekends, yes they do. Not bottomless, unfortunately 😜

How dressy is this place? Are most ladies in dresses?

Not at all!! It's near the beach so it's pretty easy breezy . I've worn work out clothes before . Hope this helps

How is the parking?

Weekend parking is a nightmare. Try the farmers market parking or one of the few public parking garages.

Super laid back great spot to grab breakfast with friends and family or even impress that one foodie friend you haven't seen in a while! Now to the food! Fantastic so good prob the best avocado I've ever had ngl I've had some good ones but yeah wasn't overly sweet either had a great balance truly enjoyed this one! I also ordered a Breakfast croissant, well because I'm a foodie, which was absolutely delicious! Super flakey croissant with egg, cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, spicy mayo. Egg and bacon cooked just right all the flavors came together like a perfect bite every time. Even the tomato was red and brought a nice touch to the whole sandwich. The waitress was super busy as she was the only one running the front. She crushes it I've seen bigger restaurants struggle with more staff and less people. It wasn't a big place…read moreat all and it looked like you could order at a kiosk and have your food ready to-go, so maybe eating in isn't their specialty? I don't know, but this place had a big menu and decent reviews so we chose to hit up this spot. The vibes in here were super laid back. There was only one woman who we saw working which was also the hostess and everyone else's server, which was just us and another woman to tables away from us. We had a difficult time choosing something to order since the menu was so diverse. Everything from croffle ice cream, to clam chowder, to a full Thai menu. I saw banh mi on the menu and instantly knew I had to order it since I've never tried it before. So, I ordered the chicken meatball banh mi sandwich with a side salad (removing the jalapeño and spicy mayo). My friend ordered a Thai iced coffee and the pineapple curry. The food came out relatively quickly. My friend enjoyed her Thai iced coffee, but she said she wished she'd ordered the Thai tea instead. She also really liked her pineapple curry, and it came out piping hot. I tried it and it was super spicy, so not for me, but she really enjoyed it. My banh mi sandwich was interesting. Right off the bat, it was 75% bread. The bread wasn't bad. In fact, it was chewy and not tough to tear into, but the sandwich itself was mostly bread. There were only like three meatballs in the sandwich, which were cut in half, and I feel like there wasn't anything special about the meatballs. If I was blindfolded, I would think they were the Great Value frozen meatballs in a bag from Walmart. The pickled cabbage was nice though, even if the mixture made the entire bottom of the sandwich soggy af (but I like soggy bread so it was fine with me). I tore most of the bread off and left it on the plate. The side salad dressing also spilled onto the sandwich and contributed to the soggy bread. Now that I'm looking at the photo I took of the sandwich, there wasn't much cilantro on there at all. The pickled cabbage was at the very bottom buried in between all the bread.

I'm almost always disappointed in restaurant coffee but these guys had some premium brew going. And they kept the pot circulating around. The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!
