We came here on Labor Day, and boy was it packed. They were able to see us right away in the patio, which was great. But there were flies everywhere which kind of grossed us out. Our waitress was great. Drinks took about 15 minutes to come. The appetizer took about 30 minutes to come. This was an exceptionally long, wait compared to my usual experiences at Nick's. A table behind us got up and left and said their food hadn't come in 45 minutes. We tried the asparagus fries, which were delicious. I got the bistro plate, which was great. My friend got the Thai salad which she loved. At the end, they gave us the wrong check and we told the manager who happened to be walking by and she was not apologetic. I think we caught them in a very busy chaotic day. When we walked by a couple hours later, it was much slower and calmer.
I went to Nick's Manhattan Beach with a friend on February 1, 2020, and then again with my mom on August 23, 2020. I remember the Cioppino was absolutely delicious, and everything else we ordered was amazing too. I also loved the atmosphere here. It had such a great vibe, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Manhattan Beach used to be one of my favorite places to visit, and I went there quite often back then. Looking at these photos makes me want to go back again soon.
My friends and I had a reservation for three people on Labor Day . Between 12:30 -2:30 we delicious lunch ,drinks and enjoyed an amazing butter cake . Our server was attentive and made sure he brought us our birthday cake which was also delicious. My drinks which I didn't picture were the coco Rita and skinny margarita which I recommend both . I had a great time at nicks . The staff even gave us a birthday card ! A very sweet thought.
Found this gem on accident while strolling along manhattan beach. We sat at the bar to avoid the wait and it was a great choice! The bartender was quick to greet us and he was very kind. His espresso martini was so delicious! It was my first time trying one and it did not disappoint. My partner and I had the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the shrimp taquitos, while on the pricier side it is definitely worth it. The spicy tuna crispy rice was so rich in flavor, and the crispy rice truly was crispy. The shrimp taquitos were unlike anything i've tried before! I was expecting some classic taquitos filled with shrimp but this place really goes above and beyond with this dish. The shrimps were wrapped (as you can see in the photo) and it was so good!! I definitely plan on coming back if i'm ever in the area. The ambience of this place is beautiful too, we came during the day but I really want to see how it is at night. I would say this is a great spot for a date night with a partner or friends.

Wanted to try a different restaurant in the Manhattan Beach area and saw the Nicks restaurant website and the reviews on the popular southern style fried chicken. I normally don't order fried chicken when dining at a restaurant but chicken sounded good with gravy on the side corn and mashed potatoes paired with a glass of Chardonnay. Everything on the center of the plate walking along with the sides tasted great and am glad my server Carlos when asked about the presentation of the gravy for the chicken that he recommended getting it separately so that I could dip my pies of chicken. The only thing did not try was the biscuit as I was full from everything else. The side simple salad that I ordered prior to my entree was the perfect portion size. Carlos and and Luke who was the MOD were very engaging and followed up every now and then to check on me. Server Assistants were also great and very engaging when speaking with me. Midway through my dinner I realized that the Del Mar location is part of there other locations that I had dined at when I was in Del Mar, San Diego: Nick's and South of Nick's Del Mar which is Mexican Fare. Shout out to the staff and a solid 5 star memorable dinner.
Came here again for a Sunday afternoon lunch and was surprised to get a reservation! We both had sandwiches with choice of fries or salad. Service is very nice and friendly and food as always is great- fresh and delicious. They also have an outdoor patio which is nice but interior is dark when you have the outside bright sun reflecting in ( my old eyes too!) but this is definitely a place to enjoy a nice meal
We had an absolutely wonderful birthday dinner at Nick's. The food was excellent, but what really stood out was the service. I came in super hungry and completely over-ordered. We had several appetizers, my wife and I split a salad, and as everything started coming out, I quickly realized I was filling up and still had my main course coming! We were also waiting on some sushi, and our waiter, Pablo, could not have been more accommodating. He happily canceled the sushi order, and his main concern throughout the evening was simply making sure I was enjoying my birthday. That kind of service really makes a difference. Nick's is always wonderful. There's such a great variety of food, everything tastes terrific, and if you happen to order too much, it's just as good the next day! Five stars for both the food and the service. And a special thank you to Pablo for helping make my birthday dinner such an enjoyable one.
Cool location, cool atmosphere we sat on the outdoor patio my wife has a chicken piccata. Fantastic ! My son had the Rib eye melt yum ! One of my daughters had the ribs and the other had Cha Cha's Spicy rigatoni. Server was always close and the warm towels after finger foods was a nice touch. Excellent food. ! We will be back !! Only down side was parking.
Nick's Manhattan Beach will always hold a special place in our family's heart. In August 2025, I made a dinner reservation at Nick's because my parents were visiting from out-of-town and we had some exciting news to announce: we were pregnant with our first baby! :) On the reservation, I noted this, and didn't expect much. The day of the reservation, the host manager called to confirm that we wanted to share the news at dessert, and if there were any other accommodations we needed, which was very sweet. When we arrived at our table, they had a card signed by staff congratulating us, and it was a night to remember. Great food, great service, and the warm hand towels after my dad demolished the baby back ribs were the cherry on top! Our group also ordered the chilean sea bass, salmon, and bistro plate. 10/10. One of our final meals as a family of two was Valentine's Day 2026. It was our first time being seated indoors, and the ambiance was dim and romantic. The meatloaf special was fantastic! Fast forward to June 2026, and we brought our 3-month-old son to his first NIck's meal (unfortunately, he could not partake) and to celebrate my husband's first Father's Day. On this reservation, I put in a request for outdoor seating that gave us enough room to park our stroller and car seat, and they were able to accommodate that. They were also understanding when me and my husband were running a few minutes past our reservation time due to fhe baby, and we appreciated the flexibility. Noise level was moderate, but definitely quieter outside. If you get nothing else from this review, just remember this: ORDER THE WARM BUTTER CAKE. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT. Our server was Connor and he was Nick Manhattan's material. What does that mean for us? Well, he was professional, on point, communicated to us the whole time & was pleasant. Great service from him and everyone who helped as well (different staff cleared the tables & filled our water glasses). We were happy because we have had several poor experiences, but we like this location. Overall, service is good from the hostess stand, servers and bar area.
Dinner at Nick's Manhattan Beach was such a great experience. I ordered the fish sandwich and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Around the table, my group had the Cuban sandwich and the steak & baked potato pie, and everyone was really happy with their dishes. We started with appetizers and shared the spinach dip and shrimp taquitos, both of which were great starters and easy to share. I was hoping to try one of the pasta dishes, but they were all out--which honestly just tells you how popular they must be. Definitely gives me a reason to come back. The ambiance was one of my favorite parts: dark, cozy, and warm with a really nice vibe. Service was attentive and pleasant without being overbearing, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Parking tip for future visits: we initially parked down the street, but realized there's a lot directly across from the restaurant, which is super convenient. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, and solid service. I'd absolutely return--and next time I'm getting the pasta if it's available.
Everything was great. Janise was our server and she was sweet and very friendly. I think she made the whole experience a lot better. We walked in with kids with no expectations, just happen to be in the area, but somehow we really enjoyed our meal.

I LOOOOOOVE this place!! I came here in Ovtober for a group event and we the time of our loves. Everything was perfect. From the customer service to the Foood to the drinks tot he atmosphere. Our server was Shannon and she is a true doll! I just went again yesterdday for Vaslentines Day and everything was exactly how we remembered. The best part of it all, Shannon was our server again adn we were ecstatic!!! I definetely recommend the Fried deviled eggs and the buttermilk fried chicken. Most places fold under pressure and they seem to never fail!!!! read more

Dining out nowadays is expensive so if I am looking to spend $100+ on a nice meal with my date, then those three bullet points are a must. Nick's has popped up a few times in my search for good American food and it does not disappoint. Love the location, it's so close to the beach, and the staff was welcoming and tables are comfortable and spacious. I especially adore the outdoor seating area, there were a few patrons with cute dogs and I saw someone brought over a bowl of water for the puppies without even being asked. Highly recommend the asparagus fries and butter cake. I really enjoyed my sea bass but the highlight of the dish for me was the garlic-y spinach! Will definitely come back to try the other dishes. read more
Honestly I wanted to go here because I've had a recent addiction to warm butter cake and I saw tons of reviews and pictures of the dessert and couldn't resist. Came here after a long flight from NYC and also wanted a nice meal before getting some rest at the hotel. I'm a seafood lover so I could not resist the Chilean sea bass as my main meal and the shrimp taquito as my appetizer. They were both so delicious and well prepared. The warm butter cake, with ice cream, and berries were the best ending to a great meal. While it was pretty crowded during dinner, we opted for the outdoor seating area which thankfully still had a lot of available seats/tables. The atmosphere matched any scenario (a date, after work meet up, etc). You'll leave full and happy! read more
This place knows how to cook a steak true to temperature! After the first cut I took in the file, I knew it would taste as good as it looked. Restaurant was buzzing for lunch. Had the perfect booth for my solo meal. Server made sure I was taken care of! Can't wait to try the prime rib dip sandwich, sounds so delicious. read more
We tried Nick's this past Saturday. No reservations were available so we waited 40 minutes for a table so reservations are reccomended. We ordered old fashiond's and dirty olive martinis from the bar but I reccomend the olive dirty martini on their menu which was much better than a regular olive martini. This restaurant reminded us of Houstons or South Beverly Grill which I loved but we felt Houstons/South Beverly Grill overall was better. Service here was great. But, we really enjoyed the food. I reccomend: Shrimp Taquitos ( About 5 taquitos and they were delicious) Tuna Tartare ( on the smaller side but delicious) Bacon Deviled Eggs ( very delicious and delightful) Petite Bistro ( small filet, salad and soup) Prime Rib Dip ( delicious, very on par with Houston's South Beverly Grill) Butter cake ( amazing and perfect) read more

Food is always great, unfortunately as I own a treatment center I came in a flannel with my wife (who happens to be Latina). Seems like they aren't big fans, we came in with a reservation at 7:30 on Tuesday the 21st, waited 17 minutes & in addition definitely should have worn more dressy attire because we were snubbed. The sad part is people love to treat you a certain way despite what you contribute to the community or financially. Unfortunately we won't be spending any more kids birthdays here or getting takeout on a school night. Very disheartening after years of service. read more

This was my second time here. We got seated quite quickly for a busy Sunday lunch. Hostess and our waiter were kind and on it. Service was great. It was beautiful day.. a bit chilly but there were heat lamps. We got the salmon poke tacos and deviled eggs as starters. I saw the table across us indulging deviled eggs so I had to try. The eggs were good but the salmon poke tacos were the winner. My bistro plate was just what I wanted. Light and tasty. My husband got the French dip which he couldn't stop raving about. My sis in law got the chicken sandwich which she thought was okay. I did snag some fries which were hot and crispy. I enjoy the food and ambience. A couple of years ago I came in for breakfast and it was also delicious and bar service was great. We will be adding this to our MB rotation. read more
Definitely a great lunch or dinner spot if you're in MB. The food is reliable and yummy, with lots of options. The service is great and everyone is really helpful. Great overall vibe. We had a wonderful meal with our family at Nick's. Ordered the Caviar Loaded Skins, Asparagus Fries (very good), Center Cut Filet, and the San Francisco Cioppino. Nice light tomato sauce, you can taste the mussels and clams. It comes with a very large sourdough roll that feeds four. All the food was delicious and our server Dan was excellent. We had the following deserts. Worm Butter Cake, Lemon Cake and Hot Fudge Sundae. My favorite was all of them. read more

We made lunch reservations and glad we did. Paid parking underground and easy access. The spicy lentil soup of the day was recommended and boy was it good! We then each ordered the bistro salad. I added avocado ( stingy with the amount though) but added salmon which was perfect! My friend added grilled chicken to her salad. They have a decent wine list and bar as well. Service was good. I've been going to Nick's for years, mostly the Long Beach location. I ordered my goto which is the meatloaf ($25.00). It's served with mashed potatoes and some vegetables and as always it was excellent. I also tried the French onion soup and unfortunately that was not very good. Service was excellent and we enjoyed our desserts as well. We will return. read more
This restaurant is amazing. I've been here for breakfast, dinner, for dates , meeting friends. You can't go wrong with Nick's !!! The ambience is great, the restaurant is beautiful. My friend and I came here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I ordered the salmon which was scrumptious. I also ordered the deviled eggs- which were a combination of scotch eggs and deviled eggs- nonetheless extremely delicious. The service was on point. The ambiance itself is very beautiful. Parking however is very bad. Be sure to get here 30 minutes before your reservation because the parking in Manhattan beach is horrible. read more

Location-- 9/10 Great location right by the pier. There are 2 parking structures available near by-- one right across and one underground. Parking could be hard especially on a good weather day but luckily we came on a Sunday night so we found parking right away. We had reservations was seated about 5-10 minutes after we had arrived. We had a big party so it was understandable. We were seated outside and it was a little chilly, thankfully they had the heaters on. Service-- 10/10 Service was amazing! Our server Tim was outstanding. He made sure to answer all our questions. It was a first time for some of us and he gave excellent recommendations. Food-- 9/10 We got the Shrimp taquitos for starters and it had good flavors and texture, tasted very good. I ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken and that did not disappoint. It was very tender and juicy and the mashed potatoes were delicious! My friends also ordered the San Francisco Cioppino and the Classic Cheeseburger and they said those were good. For dessert, the Butter Cake was the winner. Delicious cake with ice cream and a berry compote-- can't go wrong with that. Overall, its a great restaurant. Amazing service and delicious food. Omg this place was so yummy!! Liza was out waitress and she did an excellent job! I love my dish and I would come again to have it. All of my friends loved their food as well. The location is great bc my friends and I went down to walk after we finished dinner as well. I wish I took a picture of the cake bc it was my favorite part of the night! The ambiance was very dim inside but I loved it bc it felt so intimate. if you're in the area I definitely recommend you come! read more

Popular New American spot with comfort food. Came here for dinner on a Monday around 6 as walk-ins and there was about a 20 minute wait. You get a text when your table is ready so you can walk around downtown Manhattan beach while waiting. Street parking. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. Credit cards are accepted. It's a nicer restaurant but still saw plenty of families with young kids. I would recommend that you share dishes family-style to try multiple things. The seared ahi tuna salad was super yummy (note that there are macadamia nuts). The fried chicken sandwich had a nice sauce and the bread was super soft. You have the choice of a side, and the side salad was made of kale and was hearty. The prime rib dip was decent: the au jus tasted more like a broth, but I liked the sauce on the side. Great service and comfort food that satisfies every time. This is my first time back "post-COVID-19" and the consistency is still the same. We had Kyla as our waitress, and she was superb. Her recommendations on the specials had us intrigued, as we went right in for some of her suggestions. French Rosé wine to start, which had a fresh sweet finish. The fried deviled eggs are the best I've ever had. The shrimp TaQuito's are one of my go-to favorites, and they never disappoint. For the main entrees, we had the Prime Rib Dip and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Prime Rib had great flavor to it, and the herb Mayo elevated the sandwich. The chicken sandwich was also delicious, with a fresh slaw that had sliced almonds. For dessert, you can never go wrong with Butter Cake! This butter cake is delicious, with a blueberry/raspberry compote and a scoop of ice cream. Perfect lunch to complete our Manhattan Beach trip for the day. Nick's is consistently great! read more

played a quick 9 hole near by and stopped by for a quick lunch. sat at the bar. Comfy seat, attentive bartenders, good menu, over all a good experience. I did have a light lunch "lentil soup" it was tasty! bf got a ribeye sandwich and a side salad, they're were out of their house salad and offered kale and quinoa as replacement.. tried it was good! It was the busiest restaurant near by and I think that says a lot! will be back soon! read more

Is there a private dining room with a TV for projecting a powerpoint? How quiet is the room for doing a dinner seminar on a Tuesday or Thursday night?
No, the unfortunately they don't have private space like that. It's open patios around the front and that's it.
Is this place good for small children?
If you sit on the patio it is good for kids so they can move around. The food choices are a little more upscale so depending on how picky they are, there may not be a lot of options.
Do you have a Brunch Menu?
When I dine there right when they open, they only had 1 menu. You can always double check on their website as well.

We brought our own "hook onto table-type of seat" but it would be so simple to just call the restaurant and ask, wouldn't it?

Not required but definitely recommended. Gets pretty busy around dinner. Try the Seafood Cioppino, really good!!
Do they serve mimosas here?
On the weekends, yes they do. Not bottomless, unfortunately 😜
How dressy is this place? Are most ladies in dresses?
Not at all!! It's near the beach so it's pretty easy breezy . I've worn work out clothes before . Hope this helps
How is the parking?
Weekend parking is a nightmare. Try the farmers market parking or one of the few public parking garages.
