I've been coming to Nicks for years and have brought so many friends and family because it's been one of my favorite restaurants. A lot of the times I would sit outside with my dog in his stroller. And today I got rejected. I told the host I've been here with my dog plenty of times. And she said I have to tie him up o n the outside. It's ridiculous and rude. This was my second time here. We got seated quite quickly for a busy Sunday lunch. Hostess and our waiter were kind and on it. Service was great. It was beautiful day.. a bit chilly but there were heat lamps. We got the salmon poke tacos and deviled eggs as starters. I saw the table across us indulging deviled eggs so I had to try. We made lunch reservations and glad we did. Paid parking underground and easy access. The spicy lentil soup of the day was recommended and boy was it good! We then each ordered the bistro salad. If someone calls and is told there is no wait - puts a baby in a car, drives over, pays for parking, and 10 minutes later when they arrive they are told it's a 45 min wait because of reservations, even though there are lots of empty tables - something is very broken with the system. Do better and be more responsible with what you tell people over the phone. After this I don't think we'll be comfortable coming back. read more

Parking could be hard especially on a good weather day but luckily we came on a Sunday night so we found parking right away. We had reservations was seated about 5-10 minutes after we had arrived. We had a big party so it was understandable. We were seated outside and it was a little chilly, thankfully they had the heaters on. Service-- 10/10 Service was amazing! Our server Tim was outstanding. He made sure to answer all our questions. It was a first time for some of us and he gave excellent recommendations. Food-- 9/10 We got the Shrimp taquitos for starters and it had good flavors and texture, tasted very good. I ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken and that did not disappoint. You get a text when your table is ready so you can walk around downtown Manhattan beach while waiting. Street parking. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. Credit cards are accepted. It's a nicer restaurant but still saw plenty of families with young kids. I would recommend that you share dishes family-style to try multiple things. The seared ahi tuna salad was super yummy (note that there are macadamia nuts). The fried chicken sandwich had a nice sauce and the bread was super soft. Her recommendations on the specials had us intrigued, as we went right in for some of her suggestions. French Rosé wine to start, which had a fresh sweet finish. The fried deviled eggs are the best I've ever had. The shrimp TaQuito's are one of my go-to favorites, and they never disappoint. For the main entrees, we had the Prime Rib Dip and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Prime Rib had great flavor to it, and the herb Mayo elevated the sandwich. The chicken sandwich was also delicious, with a fresh slaw that had sliced almonds. For dessert, you can never go wrong with Butter Cake! I went to Nick's on a Tuesday night and it wasn't too crowded! The only thing is parking which can be tricky. There are a couple of parking structures and street parking nearby. The server was very kind and helpful. I got the sea bass which came with whipped potatoes and spinach. The potatoes were so buttery and probably my favorite part art of the dish. We also got the calamari and asparagus fries to share. Both were great appetizers. My boyfriend got the original ribeye melt which was also really good! PARKING: Underground public parking structure next door where the escalator leads up to the Metlox plaza that Nick's is located in. Search for "Lot M" on Google Maps (for "M" for "Metlox"). It's $2.00 per hour, with a 3-hour time limit on P1 (free after 9pm) and a 10-hour time limit on P2. Entrances are on Valley Dr and Morningside Dr. RESERVATIONS: Recommended but they also have a waitlist feature on OpenTable that is our preferred method since we usually come here spontaneously on the evenings we don't want to cook or we feel like going out to eat! I almost hesitate writing that tip because I don't want it to get harder to get a last-minute table! FOOD: - Kale and Quinoa Salad, add Salmon, add Avocado - (5/5) - We've tried a lot of salads (fiber, anyone?) and this is hands-down our FAVORITE salad in the South Bay!!! Nick's is a great place to come to celebrate or just to grab dinner! Everything that I've tried here has always been delicious and this time we came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The service here is really great and they are very attentive. We tried the Asparagus fries for appetizer, (this is a crowd favorite) however I've order the Shrimp Taquitos in the past and I would recommend trying that as well! For the entree, we ordered the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass and the Prime Rib Dip. The Sea Bass might look tiny in the pictures but it is very fulfilling. I love how Nick's make their mash potatoes - it's so creamy and just melts in your mouth! We can never go to Nicks without order THE Butter Cake. It's criminal to come here and not order that for dessert. It's so delicious and we look forward to it and it's such a treat when we get it. We asked the host and apparently, it's not a crazy amount of butter that's added in, but even if it is, ~~ignorance is bliss ~~ lol! This time they added a candle to celebrate my bf's birthday, which was a nice gesture! There's indoor and outdoor seating - I'd recommend bringing a jacket if you are sitting outdoors since Manhattan beach gets pretty chilly with the beach so close by. It was overall a very good experience. We got there early for brunch, and were able to get seated immediately. The weight staff were excellent and friendly and knowledgeable. As far as the food goes, we started off with the asparagus fries which were an absolute stand out on the menu. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, and juicy and hot on the inside. Would eat these over regular fries any day! As far as our mains, I got the seafood cioppino And my friend got the salad, I honestly forget which one. Both were delicious and the portions were extremely generous. I definitely had to take about half of my soup back home. Even the containers that they put our leftovers in were impressive. Went to take a client to a business lunch here. We sat outside on the patio. IT ended up being such a nice day and the outside patio is so nice. Our server Chelsea was fantastic. She greeted us right away and asked what brought us in. She found out it was a business lunch and it seemed she shifted into that gear. She was attentive but at the same time gave us our space to conduct the business we needed to. I got the fish sandwich which was amazing! Chelsea brought out all the sauces ahead of time so we didn't have to wait to dip out fries :) Note to any business lunch goers dont get the fish sandwich .. its great just not nice for the other person to look at while your eating. Our waiter to the other staff were really great. My friend had her baby with her and asked for milk which they accommodated with no issue. All in all, we paid for the prime real estate (Manhattan Beach) and no one got sick or sent back any food.
