Another fantastic dinning experience at Chance Bar! Chance really does dinner well. Everything…read morefrom the personal service and touch to excellent food to an eclectic atmosphere. It really is a must try if you are looking g for a dinning experience. The facility is small and parking out back can be a challenge. Making reservations is easy on their website. I would encourage this as it is nice to have and be able to relax. The team here is great. Addie greeted us and quickly got us to our table. She was friendly, all smiles and quick to make sure our water glasses were refilled. Chelsea was our waitress. She made us feel right at home and welcomed. She made sure to follow up regularly with us and was very friendly. Corey, one of the owners and chefs, came out to meet us. You could tell that he was genuinely glad we were there and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with the cook. The atmosphere is very quaint. The dining area is small but overly packed or loud. The white table coverings and dim lights were nice. There was soft jazz music overhead and an interesting collection of local art work on the wall. I was surprised that Chance didn't have much drink service outside of beer and wine. There is a bar predominantly places in the restaurant but no liquor items to serve. The wine list was moderately large and had a couple items that would appeal to dry red wine drinkers. One of the things I like about Chance is the selection of small plate shareables. You can make a meal out of a couple or accent an entree as an appetizer. We like to get several of these to sample. We started with the beer bread. The comes with two large slices of bread. The bread is served room temperature. This leads you to conclude, at first bite, that the bread is a bit dry and stale. The bread is thick and dense. It does has a drier taste but it isn't dry. There is a good beer flavoring present. The honey butter was fun. The butter chunk was thicker and hard. The honey was drizzled over the top with possibly a little cinnamon accent. You had to work a little to get the ratio and spread you want. The beer battered mushrooms are still good. The medium sized mushroom is covered in a thick and crispy batter. There is a slight beer taste in each large mushroom. The mild horseradish dipping sauce was a nice compliment. We also ordered the rib tips. This is a small dish that is packed with lots of flavor. The crispy garlic chips were unique and tasty. The garlic is overpowering and crisp tastes slightly burnt. The honey BBQ sauce is delicious - mop it off the plate delicious! The sauce is thick and sweet. It has a slightly strong BBQ spice flavor. The jalapeño rings are well cooked and soaked up the BBQ glaze nicely. While tasty the jalapeño rings were slightly spicy to taste. We did order the ricotta gnocchi again. It was delicious the first time we ordered it. It was outstanding again. The gnocchi is freshly made and soft but slightly firm to cut. The ricotta gives the dish a slight cheese flavor. The tomato based sauce is smooth and moderately thick. The sightly sweet Italian seasoned sauce was a perfect covering for the gnocchi!

As a seafood lover, I was sold just based on the name alone The building itself is pretty cool. We were told it dates back to the 1880s and is the 2nd oldest building in Indiana behind some other one in Indianapolis. You can definitely feel the history when you walk in. The place is small, with only about 14 tables, and everything is packed in pretty tight, but that's part of what gives it character. The old bar immediately grabbed my attention and looked like it hadn't changed much in over a century We started with the Parmesan baked oysters, which were outstanding and surprisingly fresh for being in the Midwest The homemade clam chowder was loaded with clams and flavor. It was so good it didn't need anything added to it. We also ordered a couple of smoked Old Fashioneds that were a great way to start the night I wanted sea bass, but they were out, so I went with the walleye fish and chips. It's honestly hard for me to pass up fish and chips when they're on a menu, I'm glad I did. The fish was well-seasoned and on point My wife went with a seafood combo that included seafood au gratin, bay scallops, shrimp, crab, applewood bacon risotto, and baked in a lobster creamy sauce Being in Fort Wayne for just one night, this ended up being a great find. The food was excellent, the service was friendly (Shoutout Lindsay) and the whole place had a nostalgic feel that made the experience even better If you're passing through and in the mood for seafood or live locally, I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

We ended up splitting the entree. The wait staff was outstanding in there serving . Gratuity is automatic of parties of 6 or more (20%) $143 grand total. We will be back! Ambiance of this area is casual and fun (see "tree" on wall). Our server was Corrine and she did an excellent job! Started w/soup: Hubby had chicken corn chowder and I had the brothy potato, green bean, and kielbasa (both soups pictured together). Both were great in flavor but were only just warm in temp, not hot as we would've preferred. The brothy kielbasa soup also needed a bit more seasoning. We didn't complain, as they were still tasty! Hubby got the wonderfully delicious and warm Pear, Brie, and Ham sandwich on a crusty loaf (pictured). One of the best ham sandwiches ever, he said. Highly recommends! Comes with chips . I got the special Late Summer Blue Crab Salad (pictured) which I was surprised to discover came with no salad greens, or not even, perhaps, toast points or crackers. I did ask for a side of arugula ($2) and the combo of fresh, summery crab salad and greens was delectable! This was a seasonal offering and today, I'm told, was its last day of availability. Had the soup been hot, this would've been a 5-star lunch!

Pj was my server and was prompt with service even though they were busy. Food was hot and delicious. The vegetable korma was the best dish with so much flavor. I ordered the lamb biryani to which was also very tasty. Wish there were more bits of lamb but overall something I would order again. The place felt new and clean. Music upbeat and not like other Indian restaurants that seem bleak and old fashioned. I would come back here and bring friends.

Our servers were very kind & helpful with recommendations. All people working were personable. The food is phenomenal. We were first served Papadam, which was so tasty. The Butter Chicken was just as comforting as I hoped, & the Chicken Karahi was flavorful. Both were ordered Mild. We also had sides of Butter & Garlic Naan, 10/10. I also enjoyed a Saffron Masala Chai, which is easily the best chai I've ever had. The serving dishes & experience was more elevated than I was anticipating, so that was a real treat. A small detail, sure, but it makes the entire dining experience so much lovelier. The prices were very reasonable and as expected. To the point of another commenter: You can personalize your tip to whatever percentage you would like. There may be a minimum by default, but it's not required. All that to say-- I was more than happy to tip for the incredible service and food. Within hours, I was already dreaming of going back to try another dish. You will not be disappointed by Saffron!
