I hired Nicks Painting to do some trim work around my garage doors as well as the railing in my back door last September 2025. Within a short amount of time the paint started to peel around the garage door. I knew that it was too cold to be fixed, but I wanted Nick to come out and review so that he would see that it's warranty work and that he would have to come back in spring. I called the numerous times with no answer. After I wrote a review on Yelp, he left me a message and said that he would take care of it in Spring. Once again I called this Spring. He left another message then and said I will be out to take care of it the first week of June. He did not show the first week of June and it is now June 23. I have left three messages and once again he does not have the courtesy to return a phone call. My suggestion to you is to find someone else that is actually a real businessman and knows how to conduct himself as such. read more

We initially hired them to do some painting and drywall work in our house. This work was completed in June/July and almost every part area they touched has failed and is starting to crack. There are also some parts of areas that they did not trim or paint. I would never consider using them again as their work may look nice when it's completed but is likely to fail over the months. The house now looks worse than it did before. They have also been nonresponsive to emails as I was trying to have them correct the issue. Please save your time and look elsewhere. *Edit*: Seeing how they respond 2 years later on Yelp i think ill have to fix it on my own. read more

MOVE ON!!! DO NOT HIRE!!! Nick came out to give an estimate, but then sub-contracted to another painting outfit -- without telling us, of course. That painter not only failed to show up on the scheduled day of work, but even upon rescheduling several days later, failed to show up on time -- they were a good 3 hours late. They also had the wrong colored paint. Then, and here's the kicker, Nick had the audacity to argue about the final price -- as if he was even ever on site to supervise. This guy is a true scumbag. I cannot recommend Nick's Painting, but I can warn others -- GO WITH ANOTHER CONTRACTOR!!! ANYONE BUT THIS ONE! read more

Against my better judgment, I gave the company one more chance, as they offered to give a 35% discount off of their quote for the missed appointments. Nick said he would come between 3:15 and 3:30pm, but didn't show up until 5:30pm. He came in and walked through, and made his pitch, and left relatively quickly. Seemed nice enough, and his quote came through pretty fast. The rate was quite a bit higher than I had anticipated (even with the discount, it was much higher than other quotes I had received, and the pre-discount price was more than twice my next highest bid), but I can't really fault their quote for being high. Their price is their price, and I'm free to accept or not. However, I did read through the quote/contract line by line, and the verbiage in the contract was incredibly troubling. Some excerpts from the contract: "Any substrate that is painted more than 2 times (or needs more coats than 2 as stated in binding contract) will result in an extra charge as well as extra materials needed to finish the job. These charges will be billed at the same rate it was to paint the first 2 coats (i.e, if bedroom 1 was charged at a rate of $450 for two coats -- the following 3rd coat will result in the same additional charge of an extra $450.)" This is pretty self explanatory. If they need a third coat, they get to double their price, even though the third coat shouldn't be any more work than the first two. "Contracted party is held liable and responsible to move any and all furniture, nails, screws, anchors, and pictures from all substrates and work area prior to arranged dates to complete task. If the items are not removed, or stowed properly Nick's Painting and Decorating Inc. will bill contracted party in the amount of $100 per piece of furniture and a premium hourly rate of $65 per hour to remove any furnishings/hardware off substrates that are part of the contract to be painted." $65 an hour to remove nails/screws/anchors is not my main concern here, but $100 per piece of furniture to move any furniture out of the way? "Any employee or sub-contracted employed under Nick's Painting and Decorating Inc. will not be held responsible, nor liable for any damage as well as poor craftsmanship prior to any work performed on contracted property. If there are flashing patches, heavy stipple, drips, out of plumb corners/walls, brush marks, paint on trim or any substrate -- we are exempt to any liability and are not deemed responsible to fix unless contracted to do so." This part was the most troubling. How does one prove that none of these were issues prior to work being done? It seems that problems of this nature would need to be spelled out in the contract in a fix or waive format in order to spell out any pre-existing issues for which they are not responsible. Without this, the clause becomes a blanket catch-all that could be used to explain away any deficiencies in the company's own work. Based on past reviews, this seems to have been exercised before. If you're going to use this company, please make sure that you read your contract thoroughly, as other reviews on the web show that they will exercise any and all rights afforded to them in the contract, even at the detriment of the customer. I, obviously, am not moving forward with them, but Godspeed to those of you who do. read more

At first I thought we would have an excellent experience. Nick came to give the quote, and seemed professional. He doesn't do the actual work. The 2 guys that came to paint argued the entire time and I caught them on my home security camera screaming at each other and screaming at each other in my driveway. Highly unprofessional as I have children at home! Additionally the next day Nick sent me the invoice and I was expected to pay within the hour. Nick was texting me and emailing me over and over that I need to pay the invoice when I had just received it that afternoon . Very disappointing he was and demanding that I pay the invoice in such a short time frame. I would not recommend this company. read more

Nicks Painting did a great job in the beginning. I would have given them a 5 star review. They came to our home painted and repaired 3 bedrooms and everything was per the contract. After they had left I noticed a few things that needed touching up. 3 small things to be exact. 2 being old color left visible, one being a large drip. I called Nick back and he proceeded to tell me they would not come back for touch ups unless we paid for extra work they did not tell us about until we called about the touch ups. Nor was this extra work in the contract. I'm disappointed in the lack of respect and customer service Nick failed to show. Sad to see the arrogance of this man and lack of basic ownership of his companies mistakes. read more

We have only great things to say about Nick's Painting and Decorating. We had him come out to give us a quote and from the moment we met Nick we felt comfortable with him. He was professional from the minute we got the quote to the end of the job. Let me first say, we were not that easy to work with but Nick was extremely patient with us from the get go. We got our quote in October but did not have the job done until February. Nick answered our million and one questions with out any pressure. His crew was fantastic and respectful. I had a lot of anxiety about painting the house when we had little ones around but Nick and his crew put us right at ease. We recently hired Nick's Painting to white wash a house for us. From the initial phone call to Nick, sending him pictures of what we wanted to do, scheduling and having the work done, every step was absolutely great. We had the pleasure of working with Ray and Rich. I was off site, but that didn't stop Ray from communicating with me. Sent me pictures and called to make sure it was exactly what we wanted when he got started. They worked hard for two days to get the entire house white washed, and what an absolutely beautiful job they did. Cleaned up everything, as if they were never there. A couple days after the job was finished, Ray called me to make sure I was still completely happy. That's a business that cares about customer satisfaction!!!! I would recommend Nick's Painting and Decorating to family. From the beginning until the end, Nick's was super professional. Nick personally came out to take a look at our kitchen. After we agreed on contact, a designer came out to help pick the colors for our cabinets. The started within a week and we were told it would only take 7 days. Well they were done in 6 days!! yay! During the project, a project manager came out often to check on the progress the workers were making. I thought that was awesome! The workers were fabulous. Courteous and they never interrupted the rest of the house or our family time. It was literally a pleasure from beginning to end. The even put the new hardware on for us. *****update on review***** Unfortunately I have to update my review. While initially I thought the experience was great I was very wrong about Nick and his company moving forward. When I had the house painted in February 2017 there were a couple odds and ends that needed to be fixed and a couple things that weren't addressed at all. So I had text messaged Nick a few times we were trying to figure something out to no avail. I will admit through the summer I dropped the ball on following up with him about setting up a time to fix what needed to be fix and complete the work. So end of summer through present day I message Nick and try to get something set up nothing, nothing, nothing. Nick now informs me that he didn't make much money off of my project (1900 dollars I paid) and he doesn't think it's cost effective for him to come and finish up the project. Listen I don't care what he made I paid $1900 for a service to be completed with quality craftsmanship. He said I should hire a handyman to finish up his job that his company dropped the ball and he'll reimburse me... Ha! Like I would trust that! I wouldn't recommend his company to anyone. I feel really bad because I like him initially and really hoped we could work together in the future especially seeing as property management is my job and I could get him so great leads. Nick's painting and decorating.... I can't say enough wonderful things about Nick and his crew. I found Nick via facebook reached out and within the hour heard back about a free estimate. He came to my house early ( which is amazing and let's me know he values my time) and was so personable, warm, and honest. We talked about our budget and what we were looking for and he gave us his honest opinion and so we moved forward. Nick was amazing during the whol experience, I am super type A and would email him at all weird hours of the day and night he always responded quickly and graciously. His crew showed up on time came in were super friendly and warm. Set up and got to work. They were finished in 7 hours with out a drop of paint spilled! Called Nicks Painting and Decorating to paint our cabinets. First red flag should have been he rescheduled twice to come out for quote. Then he no call/no shows first scheduled day to start job. Next day he sends 2 guys but not until 3:00pm after we had been waiting for them all day. They started painting the cabinets and took the doors and drawers to the shop for spraying. The painter said they would be returned in a few days. Skip ahead to a week later and they still have not been returned. Called multiple times and left messages with no response. Finally returns our phone call and says it's going to take another 2-3 weeks. Tried to call and see what the delay was about. Again silence. Finally had to say fuck it and pick up the cabinets and drawers. The painters were sloppy and unprepared. Even asked me for some painters tape but it didn't help. Drips on the new cabinets, paint on the new floor, and to top it off paint on the brand new granite. If there was an option for zero stars I would have used it. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else. The most unreliable and unprofessional company I have ever dealt with! read more

Using Nick was the worst experience we have ever had with a company. It started when he was a no show no call for our first meeting to get an estimate, but life happens and we are understanding people so we called and rescheduled for the following day. He came and quoted us and we decided to use them. What a mistake!! When the granite company came to measure Nick had given them the wrong granite (a much more expensive piece than we had picked). We caught the mistake and corrected it. When it was installed they had to disconnect our water in the kitchen and Nick was supposed to come and replace the pipe within a day or two. We waited almost TWO WEEKS without water in our kitchen!! Meanwhile, we called Nick, left him voicemails, and texted him as to when the plumber would be out to fix it. Nick never responded!!! Finally, we were able to get in contact with one of his employees and they schedule the plumber to come. For those two weeks we had no water in the kitchen, couldn't use the dishwasher, and could barely cook. We couldn't even dump anything in the sink because the pipe had been disconnected. Next, after being told they would be out to do the backsplash on two different occasions no one showed and no one called. When they finally did come to put the backsplash in Nick never told them they had to pick the backsplash up and bring it to our house so they showed up with no backsplash. So again we had to reschedule. When they finally came, they put in the wrong backsplash. Again, we tried to contact Nick and did not receive a timely response. Apparently, Nick had ordered the wrong backsplash for us which happened to be much cheaper than what we paid him for. So they came back and pried off the incorrect backsplash and had to come back fix the drywall because it was destroyed. After several more weeks of waiting we finally got what we had ordered. Thank God Nick contracts out much of his work (which by the way we were not advised prior to our agreement) Because had he not our house would never have been done. Nick has never sincerely apologized for all of our inconveniences. Nick was so unprofessional and unorganized but VERY quick to reach out for the final payment. I cannot say enough about Nick and his painting crew. They are a bunch of hard working guys and it shows in the finished product!!! I had seen Nick's Painting and Decorating on Facebook and saw what a great job they had done. I knew I would be moving soon, but wasn't sure if they would travel all the way out to Indiana. BUT THEY DID!!! They traveled to Portage, Indiana to paint 5 rooms for me. I had bought a flip house and the paint job was just awful. My living room furniture did not match the gray walls and the gray trim that was already in the house. Nick suggested going with a neutral tone of taupe - a color I NEVER would have chosen on my own but I believed in Nick's expertise. And am I glad I believed!! They turned my house from a "frat" looking house into a castle! I couldn't be happier! I plan on using Nick and his crew for ALL of my painting needs. People - you will not be disappointed!! read more
