I've been to Nick Del Mar a lot as it one of my faves. But this was my first time to Nick's San Clemente. This place was just as great as Nick Del Mar. I had the usual, which is the prime rib dip. The waiter told me about this add-on of adding the crunchy onions. Oh My! I will order the sandwich with the crunchy onions from here on out. Parking is on the street and most of the spots are either 20 minutes or two hours. I was there on a weekday in the summer, so not too bad to find parking. I would recommend this place and next time give myself a little more time to walk around the town and the shops there as I didn't even realize San Clemente has a small town. read more

We have frequented here for a number of years. Nicks's San Clemente Grill is a great restaurant. My wife likes the taco plate. I like the steak and salmon. Great location and atmosphere. Good place to enjoy a meal on date night. The customer service is very good. We did not wait long to be seated. If you're in the area I definitely recommend stopping here for a meal. Nick's is a super popular hot spot in San Clemente. If you like a noisy ambience, good drinks, and crowds, this is the place for you. It seems like it's pretty much the same ambience at South of Nick's and at Nick's Laguna Beach. You may have to wait in line if you don't have a reservation-we waited 45 minutes to get in. Ambience inside is kind of dark unless you are seated up front where the windows open wide to a sidewalk view. We probably got the worst table in the house back by the kitchen because we were a party of 3 without a reservation, and there are not a lot of 3 tops. Full of obvious regulars as well as tourists and locals. In spite of the location we were at, our server was very cheery, quick to take our order and get our food out, and quick to help get us out. The food portions are huge. If you want to eat a lot, you better come hungry, because you will. I wouldn't even bother with appetizers, as getting through a main dish alone is easily a challenge of 3 to 4 digits of calories. That being said, I'm sure the appetizers are quite good. We had fried chicken-two huge pieces of breast thickly breaded and super crispy, served with a biscuit, white gravy on the side, and a huge portion of mashed potatoes. The fried chicken sandwich was three well sized pieces served with fries, and they use a semi-sweet slaw inside the sandwich. Baby back ribs were just right falling off the bone tender, not too slathered in sauce, served with slaw, and half a portion would have been healthy enough. Any main course here I would say could feed two people. All of us asked for to go boxes to take away the second half of our meal. Of course, that didn't leave room for dessert. I would rather have a meal I can finish and still have room for dessert, rather than the typical American gargantuan portions they serve here, but that's my personal view on dining. This is the kind of place that approaches Cheesecake Factory/Claimjumper size portions, but the food is better. Some people enjoy eating a lot or too much, some people enjoy just the right amount and taking food home, and some people enjoy just the right amount on their plate with nothing left over. I am in the third category. I came here on a gift certificate and I would go back without hesitation if I were given another. But my personal choice would not make this top of mind for me when going out, in spite of being a solid, consistent, and generous place. Plan to spend at least $40 per person here without alcohol if you go all in, and you won't get out under $30 average per person. read more

We made reservations here, the menii up is small, but very good. We enjoyed the calamari with a mocktail and beer. My husband ordered the ribeye melt which was tender and so delicious. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken which was huge! I didn't even realize there was a buttermilk biscuit under all the chicken. The service was excellent and the food was delicious and hot. As long as you know that's what comes with your experience at Nick's, you'll love it! Must try's: the asparagus fries for a starter are very unique and delicious. Also I would add their bacon deviled eggs are equally unique and delicious! Can't miss on either of those. For mains, if you're hungry and looking for some comfort food, try their buttermilk fried chicken. OMG. It is HUGE! And absolutely delicious. I had to order an additional side of gravy. With a nice patio and an open restaurant, the atmosphere is really great here! While one friend ordered the the Blackened Halibut Sandwich, my other friend ordered the Cioppino. Both of my friends said that their meals were delicious. I had the Chicken Piccata with the garlic mash potatoes on the side, and it was amazing. For dessert, we ordered the Warm Butter Cake and the Hot Fudge Sundae. Both were heavenly. The servers were friendly and helpful. They were always checking on us and refilling our drinks. One of the servers gave us some great options of what to order. The service was wonderful, and the food was amazing. The restaurant is located on a fun street. This place is amazing. Was visiting the area and my friend said this was her favorite place to dine at. It was well past the lunch hour but still a full house when we arrived We had the asparagus fries and grilled artichokes to start. Both were amazingly delicious. They served these with some amazing dips/sauces that we had to ask for extra sauces to have with our lunch entrées. I had the ribeye melt and it was amaze balls!!! I would highly recommend this. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Chill ambience. Visited on a Sunday morning for brunch. There was a farmer's market, so the street was packed, but there are public parking lots nearby that offer easy access to the area and local shops. It was my first visit to a Nick's location, so I was impressed. Ordered the roast beef with fries, and also had their butter cake. As I was waiting for our table , lady that was dining came to the front very upset and asked for highest management contact info . Because the manager on The floor made her felt very embarrassed in front of her children after she had complained about the service . Obviously I don't know the story , what I know is when she walked away to go back to her seat, that same manager in front, in front of the desk staff made fun of her . Nick's is located on this cute little street in San Clemente. My boyfriend and I were visiting from out of town and he picked this spot for lunch on a Saturday. I was skeptical at first as it seemed like it was more about ambiance over the food but the items we ordered were great! We didn't have reservations, but the host seated us immediately upon arrival. The asparagus fries is a Nick's original that was very unique and surprisingly well flavored considering I'm not a huge asparagus fan. We also got their french onion soup and their soba noodle thai salad that was so incredibly well flavored. Great balance of nutty + spice on your palate. Last but not least their gooey butter cake topped with ice cream and a berry compote was very rich and hearty. Cake is very buttery and heavy so be prepared to be in a food coma afterwards. Atmosphere is fancy, looks like a local crowd to San Clemente plus some tourists. Service was great! Our server was super nice and attentive! We were yelling across the table in order to hear each other. There needs to be some acoustic insulation so that conversation can take place at the table. I had my birthday dinner here last week and everything was fantastic! Our waiter, Trenton, was very personable and friendly. He always had a huge smile on his face.
