Such a great spot for a celebration or special occasion meal! The staff are always excellent from the host to the waiters and runners. Parking is tough around Shem Creek so highly recommend using a ride share but they do validate for some of the paid parking. Recent favorite menu items were the whole red snapper, Lowcountry Cups oysters, sea scallops and lyonaise salad. Inside is comfortable and doesn't get too loud. Everything was incredible for dinner at nico's! Made a reservation through resy for dinner - while ressies didn't fly fast, they did eventually start to disappear a few days out and on a Tuesday night the restaurant was packed so I recommend. Our hostesses and server were kind and great. You could tell they want everyone to have a good experience. We arrived just in time for the end of HH where oysters are $1.25, so we got a couple of those and the presentation is A+. We also had the oyster/tartare/ceviche platter, the special crab legs (which everyone seemed to get that night), and the gnocchi. I wasn't a huge fan of the tartare & ceviche - there was a lot of extra stuff that covered the goodness of the fish. The crab legs were delicious! My gnocchi was decadent - basically the sauce that's normally used for escargot. The star aside from the oysters was the Apple strudel dessert - omg it was huge and buttery/caramel deliciousness with fresh sliced apples in it. Everyone gets the basked Alaska and crème brûlée which get flambéd at the table, but don't overlook the Apple!! Beautiful inside and the menus are beautiful. A true culinary experience from start to finish. From the atmosphere, to service and food itself everything was wonderful! we had a reservation for 530 on the patio and we were able to get seated early. The patio space was beautiful and comfortable temperature. Despite being a little chilly outside they had the heat lamps going. The overall interior design and decor of the building is really lovely and cozy. all the staff was very friendly and our server. Logan was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and provided great explanations of the dishes, specials, and recommendations. Both of our entrées were delicious. My friend got the duck and I got the scallops. He said the duck was perfectly tender, and the beans in the dish were delicious. I thought my scallops were fantastic and even though I asked for the cream sauce on the side, it Was hot and I was able to add it to my dish as I wanted it. We split the fries and foie gras. The fries were perfect sharing size and even though the foie gras was a new experience for both of us the presentation and trying something new was worth it. We had a really nice group outing at Nico. Even if seafood isn't your first choice, Nico has burgers and steaks to satisfy you. For the seafood lovers, you'll have PLENTY of seafaring options from which to choose. Atmosphere is upscale, noisy, and festive. Yes, Nico is (obviously) an old renovated Pizza Hut, but the patio/bar area is VERY well done and flows well into the dining room. Onto the food, which we enjoyed. The baked cheese was smoky, savory, and in a hot skillet so its warmth was maintained. The tomato salad was an intriguing and tasty choice; our only recommendation would be to either include more shrimp or charge less for the shrimp upgrade. The steak and frites were the perfect choice for us after all the bread, salad, and apps in that it was petite and "just enough." The bordelaise was rich, salty, and great on a few of the other dishes as well. Although we didn't partake, the dessert reactions were mixed; "just okay" for the baked Alaskan and "rich and wonderful" for the chocolate cake. Service was positive, proactive, and only made forgot one item. We'd encourage Nico to relocate their restrooms away from the kitchen and expo area. We felt we were in the way and if you're 2-3 back in line (as we all were), you're REALLY in the way because the hallway is too small to accommodate a third person. Been meaning to check out Nico for a long time and finally had a chance during the week on a day off from work! You can make a reservation via Resy with options at the bar, indoor seating, or outdoor patio. There's plenty of parking around the area in case you can't snag a spot in their parking lot - just be mindful of towing zones or signs with instructions. The bar area felt roomy and there's even those nifty hooks to hang your bag which is most helpful. Jackie and Chris took care of me for this experience and they were super knowledgeable and friendly! It was Bastille Day so there was a unique menu suggested, I liked that they had that as an option to try something different. For me I was on a mission to try baked Alaska for the first time ever so chose accordingly. Each day of the week there's a unique happy hour special - for Thursday it was half off a bottle of wine (you can take it home if you can't finish it) but I was perfectly content with their $5 white wine blend which tasted nice n' crisp. I tried their tomato salad (fromage frais, radish, tomato lemon curd, peaches, mint vinaigrette) which is a delight for tomato lovers plus the curd was a fun texture to mix around the tomatoes in. The baked cheese (almond pistou, fruit, honey, baguette) was as oozing and savory as it sounds - I liked dipping the bread between the cheese and the remnants of the lemon curd. Cheese craving satisfied. For the final event, the baked Alaska was a sweet finish! The crispy meringue top and creamy ice cream made this treat a must for summer time. This is our first time, the octopus was prepared to perfection and incredibly tasty. I had the bouillabaisse, it was okay but the portion was too small for the price. Dad had the mussels and were good but not a fan of the sauce. Steamboat oysters were literally just pulled from Shem Creek. Meanwhile other parties that arrived after us had appetizers and entrees with some even finishing and leaving in that time. You can eat on the patio or inside, either choice yields nice ambiance. I order the chicken cordon bleu. It came on a super hot cast iron dish and served in a delicious red wine sauce with gnocchi, mushrooms and peas. My dining partner had scallops which were also served piping hot in cast iron but cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with a nice outer crust. The sauce was a parsley pesto.
