Fried shrimp and flounder with fries and coleslaw
    Amy S.

Food: we got the peel and eat shrimp and she crab soup to start. Both were fantastic. The main course was scallops and the captains platter, which was a combination of fried shrimp and flounder. The platter came with coleslaw, which was excellent. The coleslaw was finely chopped, kind of sweet just perfectly done. The flounder was perfectly cooked. Not too much batter. The tartar cocktail sauce were good. The ambience was your standard seafood on the river type restaurant, but like an old boathouse - very nice, good views. The service was good. Nothing to complain about - they were timely and efficient.

Another great meal. Had the Baja shrimp salad and three raw oysters which were meaty and excellently cleaned. No grit or pieces. Next time I will order more. Waffle fries were very good. Peel and eat shrimp were served cold. Hot is also an option. Shrimp were excellent. You get 10....should have counted before started eating! Too good to resist! Service was excellent. Scenery was very nice.

Greeted immediately upon entrance. The manager went to clean a table off outside for us. Food was pretty good fresh and flavorful !

Went to Charleston Shem Creek Crab House for a friend's birthday and it ended up being a great spot for a celebration. The food was incredible, and one of the things that really stands out is that they actually have a Lowcountry boil on their regular menu, which you surprisingly do not see that often around Charleston. It is a great option if you want something classic and shareable for the table. The location is also a big part of the experience. You are right on the marsh at Shem Creek, and if you time it around sunset the views are awesome. It is one of those places where you can just sit back, enjoy the scenery, and take your time with the meal. Service was really good and the staff kept everything moving smoothly even though it was busy. Only thing to know ahead of time is that parking can be a little tricky, especially during peak hours since the spots fill up quickly. Just give yourself a little extra time. Overall, a really fun spot with great food, beautiful views, and a perfect place to celebrate with a group. Would definitely go back.

Came in when it wasn't busy, which was nice, but the experience was pretty mixed overall. First thing to note: happy hour is only offered in the bar area, which wasn't made very clear upfront. I ordered the happy hour wings and was honestly disappointed. The portion was barely a serving, and they didn't even toss the wings, just fried them and dumped a heavy amount of seasoning on top. No balance at all. I also had the crab cake sandwich with waffle fries. The sandwich itself was good, but the fries were just okay at best. A lot of them were so hard you couldn't even bite into them, which was frustrating. Another downside was the pricing. I didn't like that they charge different prices for cash vs. card. Being charged extra just for using a card feels outdated and should be clearly stated beforehand. Overall, some things were decent, but between the small portions, poorly prepared sides, and the card fee, I probably wouldn't rush back

The food was very good, and the service was excellent. The dessert was delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. The Low Country Boil had great flavor, although the seafood was a little overcooked. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience.

Service was okay, it was slow and not as welcoming. The food was good. We got the seafood crab pot and it was enough for us. The corn was delicious. Very soft and buttery. The ambiance is okay. Nice view though. Would come here again.

Stopped by here because we were craving a good crab boil, and this place came highly recommended. We made reservations online beforehand and were seated right away when we arrived - no wait at all. They offer both indoor seating and an outdoor patio that overlooks Shem Creek, making it a great spot for a family dinner or a date night. The service was solid. It was a bit on the slower side, but considering how busy they were (and it being summertime), it was understandable. Our waitress was friendly and a pleasure to interact with. Now on to the drinks and food - my girlfriend ordered a frozen Rum Runner and really enjoyed it. For starters, we got the hush puppies and four grilled oysters. It was actually our first time trying oysters, and they were fantastic. I could've easily polished off a whole tray. The hush puppies were also a perfect little teaser for what was to come. For our mains, we both went with steampots. I got the Crab House Crab Pot, and my girlfriend chose the Snow Crab Pot. They came out steaming hot, loaded with crab legs, shrimp, mussels, sausage, corn, and potatoes, all drenched in flavorful garlic butter. Everything was so well-seasoned and absolutely delicious. It was my girlfriend's first time trying crab legs, and she completely devoured her pot - she loved every bite!

great patio to sit outside. view of the water and boats passing, quieter than other restaurants in shem. i got the seafood boil and split it and it was really good and well seasoned. waiter was very nice, i believe he was a manager? talked for awhile and was a nice experience!!

My boyfriend and I shared a calamari and a crab boil. Service was pretty good. I requested the old bay to be on the side and it came on the crab. Besides that, it was pretty expensive, came to $105 to share an appetizer and an entree with 2 non alcoholic drinks. It's cute on the inside and has lots of seating with views of the water.

Another day of delicious food in Charleston! But at this point of the trip we had been so stuffed that we ate a little lighter(more sharing of a couple of entrees). She crab soup was a must and we got soft shell crabs over grits. The view outside was amazing and it made for an enjoyable meal!

Great location on the water with nice views. Seafood focused menu. A bit pricey but worth every penny IMO. Our server was on point with service and recommendations. I had the shrimp po boy stuffed with plump crispy shrimp so much so that I literally could not close the sandwich until I had a few bites in. Check this spot out if you're able. You'll be happy that you did.

They also didn't have their HH menu updated online so there were things we wanted but couldn't get because it was a different menu. We ended up getting a couple dozen oysters, smoked fish dip and crispy tuna rice. Oysters were fresh and nicely chilled, tuna rice was well seasoned and the fish dip was ok, didn't have any smoky flavor or element to it and lacked in flavor. We ended up moving back down with our friends who had dogs so they ordered from the regular menu. The server was very accommodating and friendly. My friend got the burnt ends Mac n cheese and that was delicious! The place itself was huge and I could see it being a great spot for private events. Overall we had a good time.

I was a little worried when the website said call ahead seating was on hold thinking they would be slammed, but forged onward!' It was Sunday afternoon. I have read about nightmare parking but did not experience that at all. Zoomed right in. Yes, it was eleven bucks. I don't mind paying and refuse to get myself worked up over it. Ask for an outside table and no sooner did we sit down, the dolphins showed up!!! I consider myself an expert on dolphin spotting and had to show the table of 5 college age young ladies where they were located. They loved them as well. Who knew they would be so active in the middle of a busy waterway? As a former boat owner, I love watching those huge honkin' boats parallel park in between the baby ones. I do not have that skill , but it's entertaining to watch. Tyler was our server and was nice and attentive. Drinks were cold and quite good. I ordered a house Chardonnay and it was Cambria. Not crazy expensive either! Had shrimp tacos and steamed shrimp. So many steamed ones that I had a full meal the next day. I look forward to trying many more dishes. What I enjoyed the most was being part of a fun atmosphere in a fun place. Not a sad person in the place. That's always my attitude near any body of water. I'll start with the positives. Our server was fantastic. She was personable, attentive, and did a great job throughout our meal. As for the food, it was just okay. I ordered the fish tacos, and unfortunately the mahi was overcooked and very dry. They also came absolutely covered in sour cream. I was expecting a light drizzle, but there was so much that I only managed a few bites before I couldn't finish them. My friend ordered the Cuban and absolutely loved it. He cleaned his plate, so it seems the food can be a bit hit or miss. The biggest downside, though, had nothing to do with the food. There was some type of political or civic meeting taking place in the main dining room. I'm not exactly sure if the speaker was running for mayor or another office, but it wasn't in a private room. It was out in the open where everyone dining had to listen. I don't think it's appropriate to hold an event like that in the middle of a restaurant during regular service regardless of your political affiliation. Some of the things being discussed made me genuinely uncomfortable, and even my male friend commented on it. If the restaurant wants to host political events, I think they should either use a private space or close the restaurant to the general public during the event. The views and service were great, but the atmosphere that day was overshadowed by the speaker, and unfortunately that's what I'll remember most about my visit.

They don't have a liquor bar and their beer and wine selection is limited but you're there for super fresh seafood, not wine... so it's ok!! The service was friendly and attentive.
