It was good, with decent flavor, though it was a little too fishy for my taste and a bit moist in the middle. Still enjoyable, just not perfect. Two people in our party got the grilled red fish. They liked it but wished the sauce had been served on the side instead of already mixed in with the scallions and tomatoes. The standout for me was the waffle fries - they were really delicious! Nice and crispy on the outside with a soft, almost mashed/pillowy texture inside. I've seen some complaints about them being too dry, but we thought they were excellent. Our waitress was fantastic - sweet, attentive, and made the whole experience better. Overall, a reliable spot for seafood in the area. We'd come back, especially for the fries and friendly service! Another great meal. Had the Baja shrimp salad and three raw oysters which were meaty and excellently cleaned. No grit or pieces. Next time I will order more. Waffle fries were very good. Food: we got the peel and eat shrimp and she crab soup to start. Both were fantastic. The main course was scallops and the captains platter, which was a combination of fried shrimp and flounder. The platter came with coleslaw, which was excellent. The coleslaw was finely chopped, kind of sweet just perfectly done. The flounder was perfectly cooked. Not too much batter. The tartar cocktail sauce were good. The ambience was your standard seafood on the river type restaurant, but like an old boathouse - very nice, good views. The service was good. Went to Charleston Shem Creek Crab House for a friend's birthday and it ended up being a great spot for a celebration. The food was incredible, and one of the things that really stands out is that they actually have a Lowcountry boil on their regular menu, which you surprisingly do not see that often around Charleston. It is a great option if you want something classic and shareable for the table. The location is also a big part of the experience. You are right on the marsh at Shem Creek, and if you time it around sunset the views are awesome. It is one of those places where you can just sit back, enjoy the scenery, and take your time with the meal. Service was really good and the staff kept everything moving smoothly even though it was busy. Only thing to know ahead of time is that parking can be a little tricky, especially during peak hours since the spots fill up quickly. Just give yourself a little extra time. Came in when it wasn't busy, which was nice, but the experience was pretty mixed overall. First thing to note: happy hour is only offered in the bar area, which wasn't made very clear upfront. I ordered the happy hour wings and was honestly disappointed. The portion was barely a serving, and they didn't even toss the wings, just fried them and dumped a heavy amount of seasoning on top. No balance at all. I also had the crab cake sandwich with waffle fries. The sandwich itself was good, but the fries were just okay at best. A lot of them were so hard you couldn't even bite into them, which was frustrating. Another downside was the pricing. I didn't like that they charge different prices for cash vs. card. Being charged extra just for using a card feels outdated and should be clearly stated beforehand. Stopped by here because we were craving a good crab boil, and this place came highly recommended. We made reservations online beforehand and were seated right away when we arrived - no wait at all. They offer both indoor seating and an outdoor patio that overlooks Shem Creek, making it a great spot for a family dinner or a date night. The service was solid. Now on to the drinks and food - my girlfriend ordered a frozen Rum Runner and really enjoyed it. For starters, we got the hush puppies and four grilled oysters. It was actually our first time trying oysters, and they were fantastic. I could've easily polished off a whole tray. The hush puppies were also a perfect little teaser for what was to come. For our mains, we both went with steampots. I got the Crab House Crab Pot, and my girlfriend chose the Snow Crab Pot. My boyfriend and I shared a calamari and a crab boil. Service was pretty good. I requested the old bay to be on the side and it came on the crab. we used to go there a lot when it was Shem CREEK BAR AND GRILL. We went last week to the new Crab House and will never go again. Ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell. The first bad was no minuet sauce. The server said that everyone asked for it so why not serve it. . I put one in mouth and spit it out. It was so bad I can't believe anyone would serve it. Next we went for one of our long time favorites all over Charleston the Whole Crispy Flounder. We have had it everywhere this one ranked in the lower 1/3 for flavor, quality and presentation. The location is hard to beat--right on the water with beautiful views and a relaxed coastal vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer. Service was truly outstanding. Authentic Low Country food right on Shem's Creek.  We came here for lunch twice while visiting cousins in Mt Pleasant -- once sitting outdoors and the other inside.   Decor is bare bones, but the Shem Creek views are nice. Service was good and attentive on both occasions. Some of the food we enjoyed: SHE CRAB SOUP (5/5) -- Excellent!  One of the best we've enjoyed anywhere. HUSH PUPPIES (4/5) -- A dozen golden fried hushpuppies, crispy with soft centers, served with honey butter. BBQ SHRIMP & GRITS (3/5) -- Shrimp and grits themselves were perfect.  I expected a drizzle of BBQ sauce, but the shrimp and grits were swimming in it. I love the green print biodegradable straws, but hated the bartender making drinks, attending to people at the bar, and having 6 tables. She was very attentive at first until things got busy.
