I love Nico's, it is affordable, fast and guaranteed to be better than most Mexican restaurants in our area. It's not so much the best for ambience, however, the food is terrific. We take it home, and it consistently pleases. This is not a sit down restaurant, but it is the best Mexican fast food I've come across. It's become one of our go-to places on the east side when we want a quick dinner - especially as a post-Sabino Canyon hike treat - or a tasty and filling breakfast burrito. Our favorite for dinner is the nachos supreme with carne asada. The carne asada is flavorful, and the portion is big - great for sharing. It is also topped with poco de gallo which always taste fresh, shredded cheese, refried beans, and sour cream. Recommend with their salsa verde on the side. I was a big Nico's fan for breakfast burritos and the occasional lunch burrito but I started getting messy unfavorably made burritos. Than this Nico's on Sabino Canyon opened up and I stopped to try a bacon, potato, egg and no cheese burrito. Guess what it was made perfect. The bacon wasn't all chewy it was fried right and crispy and the egg and potato didn't have a greasy taste. The red salsa they give you is hot but good. The place is roomy and clean with plenty of parking. If your a runner or bike rider plan a stop after the workout. read more

Nico's on Sabino never disappoints! The staff is friendly, professional and courteous and the food is ON POINT! Not only that but even if they are busy, the food comes out with the quickness. My fiancé and I are BIG fans of their supreme fries/nachos and the bacon, egg, potatoes and cheese breakfast burrito is low key addicting, in a good way. We exchanged some emails and I can see that he is a young, caring entrepreneur and the employee and service does not reflect his business model. We were hiking the Sabino Canyon and decided to stop for some food and saw Nico's Sabino Canyon on the way. I ordered the Carnitas Chimichanga and, although, very large was filled only with chunked, boiled pork that was absolutely bland tasting and more fat than meat. For $10.95 I totally expect better quality! My wife ordered the shredded beef taco that cost $4.50 and was very similar in size and quality to the 99 cent taco you can get at Jack-in-the-Box! Not only that, but the service was horrible too. The guy behind the counter was distracted by something and ignored me right in the middle of taking my order and asked me to repeat myself a number of times. Just to put icing on the cake...we ordered the food to go and when we got to our spot to eat there were only napkins in the bag!!! Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT eat at Nico's Sabino Canyon!! Tucson has a rich Mexican culture and they do a huge disservice! Drove here to eat dinner with my family and we had been talking about it all night. Foods great when they're open. The kid behind the counter said they would only make tacos, because they already cleaned the grill, more than half an hour before close. When I commented that the store hours said it was still open, and the open sign was still on, they were extremely rude. Will not go here again because of the inconsistency. Such a shame because this could be be a great business, but apparently they are going to let kids who don't care run it into the ground. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before we tried this. For a family of 4, we ordered tacos. The bill came to over $97! This was supposed to be a quick, easy and inexpensive takeout order. Not only were we totally overcharged, but the food had NO flavor, the rolled tacos were so hard, and no one liked their meals. Shredded beef rolled tacos were hard and flavorless. My kids didn't like their chicken tacos. For an almost $100 bill, we sure wish we had gone elsewhere. DO NOT EAT HERE! read more

Unreliable hours, close at different times every night,but good food if you are looking for some fast food food in this side of town, and I think better then the other nicos, but always closes down 30mins-2 hours early. Tend to say they closed early because they ran out of food. It's hard to support a place that they decided to close early when you get there even though they are supposed to be open for another hour. read more

Shredded Beef Tacos were fresh and authentic! Best taco I have had in a very long time! Beef was plentiful, lettuce was very fresh and crunchy and shredded to perfect small bite size and hard shell taco shell ( warm and crunchy) looked and tasted artfully homemade! I'm giving two stars because the cashier was sweet. I called an order in, and arrived 1/2 hr later. They weren't busy, had two customers come in while I was there. They didn't start the order until I'd been there for five minutes. I ended up waiting 15 more minutes. The chicken at this Nicos isn't shredded like at the other locations, and compromises the taste and texture of the food. The servings are less in comparison as well. Won't go back. read more
