We got a few different breakfast burritos to take away and they were all freshly made to order. The portions are large and filling-- very fair in price too. The salsa (red & green) have just the right amount of kick and are super flavorful. I added fresh jalapeños to my egg & potato burrito-- very spicy but, too good to put down. good Mexican fast food on the busy Oracle Northwest side of Tucson. Located in a small shopping center across from Target, you can park out front in tight parking area. I just ordered a breakfast burrito, as I was running to work. Order was done and I was on the road within 15 minutes. Large and tasty burro, no issues. Just picking green or red salsa. It is a small location with inside seating. Could focus more on cleaning. Staff were efficient, not too talkative with me, but could talk friendly with others. My husband went to college here and used to get Nico's a lot, usually after drunk nights. He was excited to have it again. We ordered the chicken quesadilla and Carne asada burrito. Positives and negatives below. + Cheap, affordable prices for the amount of food + The quesadilla is the only reason it was bumped up from 2 to 3 stars. The quesadilla was huge with a good amount of shredded chicken and cheese. - There was orange sauce in the quesadilla, which was good. It just was too much so it was hard to eat and got the tortilla soggy. - The Carne asada burrito had cold meat and looked kind of gray. The guacamole looked store bought out of a container and the salsa was bland, watery. Probably better for late-night munchies when options are limited. With the amount of really good Mexican restaurants in the area, we will not be getting Nico's again. read more

The new owners have raised prices so much. For a three tacos with cheese combo, it was $14. Are you kidding me!?!??! Yeah I won't be back.

Last Saturday I ordered a Carne Asada Chimichanga to go. I specifically requested "no cheese, no lettuce, no sauce." My receipt confirms my requests. I got home and tried eating it and it was soggy and FULL of cheese. I couldn't eat it. I called and young lady told me to return the next day for a refund. I returned the next day and the person refused to refund my $ because I didn't bring back the Chimi. I had thrown it out. I have called EVERY DAY since then and manager refuses to talk to me or return my calls. It's been a week & I'm very unsatisfied how Nico's has handled this. read more

Let's start with the good: fast service, nicely served for take out. Beans and rice with the combination meal were yummy. But...my chicken tostada had minimal if any chicken. Nico's is pretty tasty. I normally get a carne asada or pollo asada burrito here. It's hard to find San Diego style burritos so it's good to find a place that does it right with meat, guacamole, and pico. I wish I could give them more stars but I'm just not that impressed with the carne asada tasting mainly of salt and the lack of sweet crunch in the carnitas. My coworker called in an order for a chimichanga with no cheese , lettuce and no sauce. When he opened it , it was soggy with A LOT of cheese. His receipt specified these special requests. He called and the lady over the phone told him he could come back tomorrow and get a refund. Well when he went back they refused to give him the refund due to not bringing back the food. Which I think is silly , he threw it away. The chimichanga was soggy and falling apart. He has been trying to call to speak to the manager for a few days & refuses to speak to him. This place used to be my favorite restaurant to get some quick, well made food in a friendly environment. The staff is great, and until recently they really hooked it up like no other. But then a few months back that changed. First, they RUINED the guacamole. They used to make it fresh and chunky, and now it's the same watered down cost cutting garbage guac every cheap taco place is pushing. They used to give an ample amount of cheese, and occasionally you would get a large chunk in there indicating that they grated it fresh. Not anymore. Now you get barely any cheese. The beans used to taste great and full of spice and now they taste like they are pumping more and more lard into them. This isn't the Nico's I fell in love with. This isn't even close to the old Nico's. I used to go here, mandatory once a week. Sometimes twice even. I would recommend them to all of my friends, and take visitors there. It was just that good. Nowadays, they aren't even worth going to. I am genuinely sad that my favorite taco place has killed themselves by cost cutting and greed. Nico's is the pretty much the staple of starving, stoned U of A students. Where else can you pick up a breakfast burrito at 3am with a large horchata? Mmmm, rice milk. And who can pass up their version of the California burrito? Sweet, sweet delicious pico de gallo. Rolled tacos with a side of gauc-o-goodness? Perfection. For the most part, Nico's is pretty standard for Mexican fast food, but I think that there are somewhat better options in the late-night, post-drinking binge Mexican food genre. I certainly wasn't expecting exceptional quality, but I think it could have been a bit better. What I particularly didn't like was the type of tortilla they used for my burrito. It seemed excessively starchy, giving it a very airy, bumpy texture. Judging by the brain fog that followed, it certainly was created to outlive me by several years. Other than that, the quality of food is what you'd expect for Mexican fast food. I'm by no means Nico's target audience; I rarely eat fast food of any kind. For those who appreciate quantity over quality (and there's nothing wrong with that), this place may not seem bad at all. I've heard several coworkers rave about Nico's breakfast burritos. I've been to Nico's twice now since moving to Tucson. It's south across the street from Target so it has been convenient for me while I'm getting organized. Both times it's been exactly what I thought it would be and just what I needed. Nico's is in a strip mall with plenty of parking in the front. The seating area is generous with 6 or 7 tables. There is nothing special here either but it's clean. Pick a spot, the menu is on the wall and place your order at the window, then pick it up at the window when your order is ready, It's like business. The kitchen is friendly is you strike up a conversation just waiting. You have a choice of red sauce or green. I like the green better because it's spicier. We all know spice is the spice of life. The food is hot and delicious. Everything that I have ordered came with Mexican rice and beans. It's a meal. I can't give the 5th star because of the ambiance or lack of but for lunch, this place is a munch! So I recommend Nico's and I plan to return even if I don't need anything from Target. read more

Nico's! In the true test of a Tucsonan you must choose between Los Beto's or Nico's, I'm a Nico's girl. I am a happy #1 breakfast burrito girl with bacon, egg, cheese, and potato wrapped up in a huge tortilla. They have lots of other breakfast choices as well, sausage, chorizo, and machaca. The burritos are hot, served with red or green salsa, and with locations all over town you are never far. This location is not 24 hours and does not have a drive through. The dining room and bathrooms are clean and service is fast and polite. read more

My aunts shop is in the same plaza, since i was hungry I decided to try nicos taco shop. I ordered a carne asada burrito all beef. The beef taste to plain for me ;( Even with the sauce and all I was still dissapointed!!! The horchata was pretty good though.
