    Nicos carne asada chimichanga
    Shaun B.

In 1999 while working at a local Tucson business in the early morning hours, the boss bought breakfast burritos for us all. When he said Nico's, everyone got excited and when is Al's I had never had it, they told me I was in for a treat. They were right. I can still remember that burrito, as big as my forearm, stuffed with egg, potato, bacon and cheese. It was delicious to the last bite. I became a Nico's devotee from that moment forward. As I travelled the world, whenever I returned home to the Old Pueblo, stopping at Nico's became a ritual for me and my family. That's why this review is difficult to write. While the food is still tasty and the portions are sizable, the customer service was dreadful. Apparently my first mistake was to ask about the "Flying Saucer" which is the Thursday special. I was told that it's basically a chimichanga with an open tortilla. It comes in chicken or beef machaca. I asked which the employee prefers, and received a smart Alec response that their tastes are different from mine. My wife ordered a carne asada chimichanga, I ordered the chicken spaceship, my son ordered the chicken tacos. Our friendly attendant forgot to take the taco order and we had to pay for that separately. Apparently Nico's has adopted a pricing scheme where the displayed price is only for cash payment. A different price is charged for credit cards. This policy is explained with a small sign by the register. Nowhere does it explain the difference. Apparently credit cards negate the special. The attendant told me that Filiberto's does the same thing, when I asked about the difference in price of what was charged from what was on the menu. The funny thing is that I don't mind the surcharge. I resent the lack of transparency, and the rude behavior from the attendant. So, thanks for the memories. I don't need the attitude.

Was out at Pinal Air Park with crew and decided to stop in Marana for Mexican Food. Spotted Nico's off the Interchange and at first glance, it looked like a hole in the wall place. Some of my best finds have been hole in the wall places. Yelp reviews were good. Server said the steak chimichanga was one of the two best sellers. It was served with guacamole and pico. Steak was good. Hard to cut deep fried tortilla with a plastic knife so brought in my buck knife. Very tasty food and the salsa had a good kick. We all had free refills at the soda fountain. Other two people had combo plates and they were happy, but kept looking at my Chimi....Tab with tax was about $51. Quantity and quality were worth it.

I stopped by this location for the first time to fix my burrito craving. I got a mixed burrito (beef and bean). You can choose shredded beef with peppers/onions or ground beef. Shredded was the obvious choice. It easily weighed over a pound! The meat was lacking in seasoning and I wanted more beans but overall I enjoyed it and would get it again. I didn't like the red or green salsa, but luckily had salsa at home. The lady working was extremely nice and patient while I decided and the food was ready within 5 minutes.

There are several Nicos in the Tucson area. We were in Marana so that is where we ate. It's just a tiny little restaurant. Seating inside was comfortable. They offer is a large selection of Mexican dishes and options. You order at the counter and pick it up when it's done. We got a couple different combo plates and saw several people order the burritos..... I think that is the thing to get. They are very large and look delicious! The ladies behind the counter were very nice and helpful in suggestions on food. We got our order to go so we enjoyed our food at home. The food was tasty and plentiful .

Got a bacon breakfast burrito and it was probably the worst breakfast burrito I've ever had. Little bacon with tons of potato but the worst part is that it was saturated in grease and wasn't wrapped properly make it fall apart . Waste of $10 as I couldn't even finish it. But to be honest this seems to be a normal here in Arizona as not many taco shops can make a good burrito in my opinion. I would return to this place as it's a normal place to stop before work on my route but next times I'll just stick to rolled tacos or beef tacos as those are hard to mess up.

Looks a little run down, on the side road with a dirt parking lot...but decent food and very pleasant staff. This is a fast food Mexican Restaurant, not a lot of interior or exterior seating. Standard Mexican food offerings, primarily burritos and tacos which you can get solo or on a plate with rice and refried beans. Good food and the staff were all friendly and patient. I got the Marana (California or Arizona) Burrito It was down perfect. We took to go and we did not stay long. The dirt parking lot had a swap meet going on and you will have to avoid pot holes. If you like fast food and local Mexican food, then this is a good place to stop other than all the corporate places that are springing up. Worth the try.

Food is good depending who is making it, you can get a large portion or a huge one that will last two meals. Extremely pricey since COVID.

As of June 10th 2026 none of us will support this business Any longer.... The "OWNER" was extremely rude and tried blaming me for her 1/2 way prepared order and trying to short patrons on their food. ( kinda like cheese cake factory that give you 1/2 the portions on pick up orders) . The beans were spilt in the bag, the portions were less than normal. ( initially not a big deal) I just wanted them to fix it. She tried blaming me. I refused to accept blame for her mistake , so she walked off while I was speaking. She then claimed she wasn't being rude, only "trying to correct her mistake and make me happy" . She knew she was rude. Some business owners need to leave it to the professionals. It was some of the best food I have had, but the pathetic "owner" lost a lot of business.

We went around 4pm and they were already pretty busy, but we were able to get a table right away. The service was quick and friendly -- I especially liked that multiple people stopped by to check on us throughout the meal. Chips and salsa came out immediately, which is always a great start. I also loved the fun, upscale container the chips were served in -- such a nice touch. For food, we ordered the chicken chimi with a side of rice and the lighter fare plate with a chile relleno and chicken enchilada. We also took advantage of happy hour and ordered two house margaritas for $8 each. Everything was fabulous. The chimi was huge -- honestly it ended up being two meals because it was so big and filling! The red sauce on both the chimi and enchilada was especially good, with a nice smoky flavor. The chile relleno was also very tasty. We'll definitely be back. The only thing we'd love to see is a few more options on the happy hour food menu -- that's usually how we like to try new dishes! Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere!

The food was creative while maintaining that fabulous fresh, handmade Mexican flavor profile. Absolutely delicious! Pricing landed somewhere in the $$ amount per person including beverage and appetizer. Very fair for the level of hand-crafting going into every dish. We didn't have a reservation (highly recommend getting one for busy times) and were happy to sit where they could fit us. Our server Louie was EXCELLENT. He walked us through the entire menu in 3 minutes and we felt confident ordering. He also suggested an amazing appetizer featuring chilies stuffed with cheese and shrimp and wrapped in bacon . I ordered the Fajitas Mixtas for my main as I wanted to try several meats. Hubby ordered the shrimp enchiladas with both green and red sauce. Both were beautiful and delicious. I also tried the mocktail that had prickly pear puree. It was delicious and refreshing. The menu had options available for folks seeking Gluten Free, too. Amelia's was decked out with modern, slightly edgy decor that was welcoming and exciting. Seating for wheelchair users could easily be accommodated by dining table chair removal. The Oracle Street location isn't huge, but the staff does a fantastic job getting folks in and you won't feel cramped. I could definitely see the place needing to expand due to popularity someday soon. Go and you won't regret it. This has made the list for returning to the next time we're in town!

They have a great selection with plenty of options, even for the picky ones (aka me!). The prices are very reasonable, and the food is colorful, beautiful, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the noise level. It gets so loud that it's really difficult to have a meaningful conversation, which takes away a bit from the overall experience.

If you were wondering, the smell of cows was NOT perceptible even by my extra good sniffer. Probably because of the auction, combined with great reviews - the place was packed with cowboys/girls & farmers along with a mix of other diners. Young, old, hip, not hip, all getting along in there. Wait staff was busy as could be, but kindly took our order & served our dishes while they were still piping hot which is a pet peeve when it's not. Menu had gluten free and vegetarian options which I didn't expect but did think was smart & I'll def try one of them next time I eat here. Lots of choices for everyone. Prices were the usual for this economy ($15+ person entree, excluding beverage or spendier stuff like steak). The place smelled like a good diner ought to: sizzling fragrance of thick bacon & burgers, scent of fresh coffee, toasted breads & perfectly cooked eggs. I ordered the Breakfast Torta, a SW twist on a bfast sammy - egg, bacon, tomato with gorgeous & plentiful avocado atop a thick smear of housemade refried beans. All packed into the freshest torta bread I've eaten anywhere. My husband had the chicken fried steak breakfast with crispy house potatoes. They serve Pepsi products so hubs had a big glass of chocolate milk (nice sized!) and I had water & a side of fruit. Golly! The portions were generous and whoever is cooking clearly knows what they're doing cause I could taste the love in every bite. (Even the bites of not-my-entree under the guise of needing to review his plate, too!). The chicken fried steak was perfectly seasoned, inside and out and the thickish gravy had a zest to it which really made the dish extra good. I was pleasantly surprised that the home fries were perfectly crisp. Usually it's the side dishes at many cafes that I find a real let down. Not here. Start to finish, everything was dinerliciously great. Five stars for executing country cafe food without cutting corners. Had enough to enjoy some for next days' lunch. Which, you know, is kind of the whole point of a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, a little on the nose, but great none the less. The staff where beyond amazing, especially the woman who made our complementary salsa right at the table. And the salsa was yummy but sadly that's the only part of the meal that I can say that about. The thing is, nothing was truly bad, but just about everything was incredibly bland. You'd have expected someone who puts raisins in potato salad to have served it, not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Though the positive is the lack of seasoning is really the only major problem. The food did not have any weird taste, it wasn't dry, the presentation was fine. It simply needs to be seasoned and this place goes to a solid 4/5 rather than a three.
