Atmosphere is relaxed. Order and pay at counter. Salsa is in the fridge apparently you get it yourself. Careful there's only one and it was chiltipen hot for me. So be careful. I ordered a #3 Taco Combo, carne asada with rice and beans which came with a 12oz drink (seen as red solo cup). Tacos delicious the home made tortilla thick like a gordita. Beans runny not thick rice light Be advised everything is served on Styrofoam plates and you just throw your items away when your done. No table side service. My guest ordered a Carne asada burrito, which was filled with kore beans than meat. We shared the corn tamale which had more salt for me and my guest said the text was not what they preferred. Not sweet and the green chile was almost not existing. Wish there we more milder salsa options.

    5$ breakfast burrito

Really bomb 5$ breakfast burritos! And the salsa they have is good too but super hot!

Delicious Vegan tortilla soup (say no cheese for vegan vs vegetarian) I recommend asking for the tortilla chips on the side.

Their tamales de elote here are 5 stars. One of the best I have had. Amazing flavor and texture. They have an anaheim chili pepper strip in them and are vegan unless cheese is requested. I was told that in addition to being lard free, these are also oil free and just have corn, rice water and salt and of course the chillis. They are VERY good! I also love their tortilla soup. It's vegetarian. We requested no cheese for vegan. I really liked the flavor of the broth and their homemade tortilla chips. One thing I would do next time is ask for the tortilla chips on the side so they don't become too soft while the soup is very hot and can put them in as I go to keep some crunchiness. I was surprised they served them inside as they got soft quick but it was still very good. I really love their beans (vegan) and their fresh homemade thick corn tortillas. The flour tortillas have lard and I don't think are housemade. They have an off menu vegan Cauliflower mole combo with vegan mexican rice and beans that can be ordered with an hour notice. The mole sauce wasn't complex enough for us comparing to others we have had but fun to try. I wouldn't order that again. I am curious to try their calabacitas without cheese. They also have veggie fajitas. Can't wait to have the tamale and tortilla soup again! We ordered 3 dishes, 2 of which were brought to us so we assumed the 3rd would too. They shouted something unclear from the window that we didn't understand and kept screaming louder and louder (until the other two people dining there got up to see what's happening and seeming uncomfortable) and we eventually realized they were calling us to get our third dish so I went up to the window and was met with an unpleasant seeming look from the women in the kitchen. Other than that the young girl (daughter of owner) working at the front was pleasant. Simple counter service in terms of atmosphere. Some nice paintings. Outdoor tables right near the parking lot.

Fresh water melon juice. My lengua taco was packed with meat. Had them make a chorizo and egg burro which was excellent. Not too greasy. It's not a fancy place but what I ordered was good. Reasonably priced. All combos came Roth a drink.

    quesabirria tacos

Located on 6th Avenue with a decent parking lot, came highly recommended by the locals. Ate here at about 8:30 pm on 3/27/2024 Ambiance/Cleanliness- kinda dingy and dated. Clean-enough. Well lit, and maybe not a good thing. The layout of the place is a bit maze like, with uneven seating sections. Would definitely get to go next time and bring something to put the food in, 'cause they do the foil wrapped styrofoam plate thing. 3 stars Service-barely adequate. Not unfriendly, but not exactly welcoming. Was standing at counter waiting for over 5 minutes before someone came out of the kitchen to help. 2 stars Food. Got a lengua taco, a cabeza and 2 quesabirria tacos. Didn't really care for the lengua or cabeza as the meats were far too soft for my liking, prefer a bit of bite back. The quesabirria tacos are massive, the meat is delicious and flavor superb..but, it's a knife and fork taco..falls apart very easily. So, to summize, will get the quesabirria taco to go! 3 stars

A taco shop with counter style service. The inside decor isn't the greatest and it's really a hole in the wall. The food was very good. I tried the cabeza, birria, fish, and asada tacos. The asada tacos needs a bit more salt but had good texture. The fish tacos needed more sauce because it was too dry. The cabeza and birria were both very good. I think this place could easily be a 5/5 with a couple changes.

    Fish tacos & quesabirria

Not your normal taqueria, because you can get exceptional battered fish tacos and quesabirria tacos! We took the food to go, and ate it about 15 minutes later. While the tacos were still delicious, it wasn't as crunchy as if we ate it there. Fish tacos were nicely battered, fresh and juicy! Husband gives it 5 stars. Quesabirria is the ultimate rich and heavy tacos, loaded with cheese and birria and onions, cilantro, and consume on the side. All around delicious food for good value! Fish tacos were $3.50 each and quesabirria, a little pieces but very filling, for $5.25. Husband says this is the best thing he ate during our long weekend in Tucson!

Yum! These tacos are amazing and the corn tortilla is the best. Plenty of seating and nice staff. The service was a bit slow but food was fresh when served. Pricing is a little higher than other places IMO, but well worth it.

    Mojarra Plate
    Tyra G.

Was recommended by a facebook friend for lunch. It didn't disappoint. The mojarra tilapia plate was so good.. Don't let the head and bones deter you from great flavor. The restaurant looks like it had recent remodeling so it was very nice and clean. It's a walk up and order/pick up place and the cashier was helpful.

Happy hour tacos! Variety .. birria, shrimp, fish, chicken, barbacoa .

My hubs suggested that we go to The Frida and see if we could get in. We drive over and guess what, we go lucky, must have been that everyone had a 4th of July hangover. We sat at the bar and couldn't be happier. Our server/bartender took great care of us, he offered us drinks, took our food order and made my hubby a really good Margarita, The Frida Margarita, he said it was bomb! I ordered a beer and it came with a chilled glass and lime wedge. We decided on the flautas and the mole enchiladas. Both fantastic, tasty and hearty! I got full with two enchiladas so I donated the third to my hubby, which he was super happy to eat. I have to say, the mole sauce was decadent and full of flavors. It really reminded me of my grandmas mole. It also left a delicious numbing (very slight) on my lips. Perfect balance of nutty, spicy, almost semi sweet goodness. Gorgeously prepared and looked almost too good to eat. Almost..... The place was full, we were still able to have a conversation. It was amazing. Will definitely be back to continue to enjoy the carefully curated menu. Everyone seemed happy and relaxed! This screams a great place to work and obviously enjoy. Well done La Frida! Well done!

Which, you know, is kind of the whole point of a restaurant. The atmosphere was great, a little on the nose, but great none the less. It feels like a Mexican dinner or at least what I imagined a dinner in Mexico would look like. The staff where beyond amazing, especially the woman who made our complementary salsa right at the table. And the salsa was yummy but sadly that's the only part of the meal that I can say that about. The thing is, nothing was truly bad, but just about everything was incredibly bland. You'd have expected someone who puts raisins in potato salad to have served it, not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Though the positive is the lack of seasoning is really the only major problem. The food did not have any weird taste, it wasn't dry, the presentation was fine. It simply needs to be seasoned and this place goes to a solid 4/5 rather than a three.

Located in downtown Tucson, this iconic restaurant is full of character and beautifully decorated. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM without a reservation and were told there would be a wait since the place was packed. They only have air conditioning in the indoor dining areas and basement, not on the outdoor patio. Luckily, we were seated in the basement, which turned out to be perfect. The service was commendable truly some of the sweetest and most attentive service we've experienced in a long time. We started with freshly made chips and salsa, which were an instant hit. For drinks, we ordered the El Tamarindo, Mangopeno, and Monica's Cafetini. For food, we chose the Vegan Jackfruit Taquitos Trio and the Fresh Corn Tamale Platter, which came with a side of squash. The drinks were excellent, with the Mangopeno being my favorite. But the real star of the meal was the tamale platter. Oh my goodness it was absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table kept digging in and couldn't get enough. Even the squash side was so flavorful that we ordered an extra serving. The vegan jackfruit taquitos were a bit too deep-fried for our liking and didn't quite compare to the incredible tamales. To finish, we shared a caramel flan, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The pricing was very reasonable, the service was exceptional, and the food was memorable. We will definitely be back again if only for those amazing tamales!

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
