Restaurant ambiance is poor; the place looks dirty. Do not expect any service. Hot sauce is poorly stored and you have to grab them yourself. We ordered the following tacos: lengua, cabeza, pescado, and camaron. The corn tortilla is thick and too soft for my texture preference. The fish and shrimps had better texture than the other meats. The lengua and cabeza were tender but appeared boiled without any grill flavor. The flavor profile including seasoning is lacking. The tacos quickly become soggy with drenched crema. We asked for a cup of water of which we were served with a tinged orange colored water. Try at your own risk. read more

My wife and I have eaten here probably 25 times over the last 15 years. We have not eaten there since the fire occurred and went under new ownership. I went there yesterday because I was driving through the area and I thought it would be interesting to try it now that there's the renovation done and new owner. Ordered the shrimp taco corn taco and order guacamole. The lady took over 10 minutes to take my order, she kept making mistakes on what appeared to be a new order taking machine which she did not know how to use. I finally just told her could you please just tell the kitchen that I want a corn shot of taco shrimp taco with the guacamole and then figure out how to put it in and call me up and I'll pay for it. In any case, the fried shrimp taco was absolutely terrible. It must've been sitting around for a long time because it was soggy batter and as a result, the flower tortilla was soaked. They put this white sauce on the top the taste like some mayonnaise type sauce it was horrible. The corn saw a taco look like a combination of hamburger chorizo and some other strange looking meat. It absolutely was not Carne Asada. I went up and asked the lady are you sure this is Kearny Asada and she said yes. The guacamole was very clumpy. They did not mix it up properly and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. It was just avocados. Cut up and mixed a little bit. This might have been the worst Mexican meal I've ever had in my 25 years in tucson. I think the war is getting around because there were only two tables mine and another table and this was at 12 noon lunchtime. I would be willing to bet that by the end of the year they will be out of business. read more

I ordered a #3 Taco Combo, carne asada with rice and beans which came with a 12oz drink (seen as red solo cup). Tacos delicious the home made tortilla thick like a gordita. Beans runny not thick rice light Be advised everything is served on Styrofoam plates and you just throw your items away when your done. No table side service. My guest ordered a Carne asada burrito, which was filled with kore beans than meat. We shared the corn tamale which had more salt for me and my guest said the text was not what they preferred. Their tamales de elote here are 5 stars. One of the best I have had. Amazing flavor and texture. They have an anaheim chili pepper strip in them and are vegan unless cheese is requested. I was told that in addition to being lard free, these are also oil free and just have corn, rice water and salt and of course the chillis. They are VERY good! I also love their tortilla soup. It's vegetarian. We requested no cheese for vegan. I really liked the flavor of the broth and their homemade tortilla chips. One thing I would do next time is ask for the tortilla chips on the side so they don't become too soft while the soup is very hot and can put them in as I go to keep some crunchiness. I was surprised they served them inside as they got soft quick but it was still very good. I really love their beans (vegan) and their fresh homemade thick corn tortillas. The flour tortillas have lard and I don't think are housemade. They have an off menu vegan Cauliflower mole combo with vegan mexican rice and beans that can be ordered with an hour notice. The mole sauce wasn't complex enough for us comparing to others we have had but fun to try. I wouldn't order that again. I am curious to try their calabacitas without cheese. They also have veggie fajitas. Can't wait to have the tamale and tortilla soup again! We ordered 3 dishes, 2 of which were brought to us so we assumed the 3rd would too. They shouted something unclear from the window that we didn't understand and kept screaming louder and louder (until the other two people dining there got up to see what's happening and seeming uncomfortable) and we eventually realized they were calling us to get our third dish so I went up to the window and was met with an unpleasant seeming look from the women in the kitchen. Other than that the young girl (daughter of owner) working at the front was pleasant. Simple counter service in terms of atmosphere. Some nice paintings. Not your normal taqueria, because you can get exceptional battered fish tacos and quesabirria tacos! We took the food to go, and ate it about 15 minutes later. While the tacos were still delicious, it wasn't as crunchy as if we ate it there. Fish tacos were nicely battered, fresh and juicy! Husband gives it 5 stars. Quesabirria is the ultimate rich and heavy tacos, loaded with cheese and birria and onions, cilantro, and consume on the side. All around delicious food for good value! A taco shop with counter style service. The inside decor isn't the greatest and it's really a hole in the wall. The food was very good. I tried the cabeza, birria, fish, and asada tacos. The asada tacos needs a bit more salt but had good texture. The fish tacos needed more sauce because it was too dry. The cabeza and birria were both very good. So sad. We have been coming to this taqueria since it opened in early 90s. It is always a must stop when we are in Tucson. The quality of the food has diminished to nearly inedible. At one time they had the best Sonoran style Tacos in Pima county. Now they food is made from poor quality ingredients and horrid execution. We ordered our routine shrimp, cabeza and carne asada tacos. The once perfect made to order corn tortillas have been transformed into pre made overly thick and tasteless. Their once great beans and rice seem to now come from a can. Terrible. Even the world class horchata has been ruined. They are now charging $5.00 for pickled onions on the side. We are actually sad about this change of times, and grateful that there are so many other excellent sonoran style restaurants near by. We will miss you. read more

Since I moved to Tucson, I've been eager to visit and try the fish tacos. I made it a priority today because someone at a concert last night recommended Taqueria Pico De Gallo highly. The technicolor exterior of this place is reassuringly inviting. I ordered the tacos, a horchata, and strawberry raspado. The raspado was perfect and the scoop of ice cream on top had a rich vanilla flavor. The horchata was just as good with a potent punch of cinnamon. The tacos surprised me. The tortillas were thicker -- almost like a flatbread. The tacos were lacking spice but still good. I guess I'll just have to go back a few times to really know how much I like the tacos here. Tucson food adventures!! My mom said "let's go get tacos, i'm craving for good tacos!" I knew the place. But, let me just say good is an understatement.. I had my eye on this bookmark for a minute while looking for food adventures in Tucson. We stopped by sunday evening. The restaurant is a small simple store front, you can't miss the yellow! We came in and the menu was simple- easy to order. My mom got two birria tacos and two chicken tacos with flour tortillas. The meat, veggies, pickled veggies, salsa, lime - (catching my breath) had so much flavor, texture, with the homemade flour tortilla was soft, thin yet crispy shell of a taco. Same went with my asada taco. Probably the best I have tasted - ever. On to my meat/cheese (carne asada) quesadilla, so freakin delicious. The tortilla was fresh and hot, the melted cheese smothered my asada and kept the crispy tortilla together. The quesadilla was so perfect, the flavor is indescribable (it's not your typical quesadilla). The most authentic tasting tacos, and quesadilla we ever had. The seasoning, flavor profile is nothing we have ever tasted before. It was not oily and heavy Mexican food. It was perfectly amazing. read more

In short, I went in off peak and was disappointed by the dry meat that tasted like it had been sitting all morning. I was hesitant to write this because the staff was friendly, I'm guess family owned and I went during some of the slowest hours ( I was the only customer ). I stopped in on Friday afternoon around 3 pm excited for the last torta I have before I head back out of state. So I picked up a chicken torta and two carne asada tacos. The service was good, the gentlemen was friendly and I got my order to go. I wolfed the tacos down as soon as I got back to the hotel... but I could tell immediately that the carne had been sitting for hours. Completely dry almost not worth eating. Then I moved on to the torta, and I just couldn't finish it. Everything was dry (meat and even the bread was disappointing). This place has great reviews, so I bet if you catch it during a busy period it's great. But I hope the business learns and improves. read more

The food was delivered in a timely manner, clean tables for the interior seating area. I really wanted to like this place, but I need to give a bad review because my brother and I got sick. We were on the way home from a 2 week road trip and found this place, ignored Yelp's health rating of 41/100 and went in. We ordered fish taco platter and carne asada platter. They were good portion and looked good. The chef had no gloves on and she grabbed red plastic cups and scopped ice right out of the chest. I was a bit weary of that but didnt think much of it. After we had the food, my brother started to have diahrrhea about 10 minutes after he had the food. My sromach wasnt ferling well but the womens bathroom was dirty with sink clogged smelling like someone threw up so we left. We pulled over in less than 30 min at the outletmall where I too had a diarrhea and threw up. We had an 8 hour drive home and we had to pull over 3 more times to deal with our sickness. I've sampled so many different tacos on my many visits to Tucson, but had never been to Taqueria Pico De Gallo despite several recommendations to go there. I finally found time to visit, and my conclusion is that while the tacos that I had (carne asada, chicken) were all-around good, they were not in the sublime category of several of Tucson's taco establishments. Same can be said for the strawberry raspado, which again was plenty satisfying, but a step or two below some of the others I've experienced in town.
