    Great margaritas

Family business, owners on site and working hard. Great alcohol selection of tequilas and surprising bourbon! Chips and salsa were $3.99 as we sat at the bar but were refillable. The salsas were delicious. Carne con papas en chile Colorado plate (Red chile w/ beef and potatos) was very good, I just wanted a little more on the plate. $18.99 Margaritas were great. $14.00 ea

Good food with an excellent bar selection. They had a lot of obscure whiskey. The food was good, but I found it odd they didn't have a paper lining for their chips. How do they keep the baskets clean? The service was good, seemed like a team effort.

Nana's Kitchen is coming up on 16 years on Tucson's northwest side. My husband and I have been frequenting this establishment since day 1. The atmosphere upon entering feels like home. Matco and Javier, the owners, are on hand to greet you with a smile, hug, and friendly conversation. Nana often comes out of the kitchen to say, "Hello." The service is spot on, and the food is delicious and authentic. We've tried everything on the menu, which is extensive. The bar is well stocked and manned by Marco. From whiskey tasting, award winning margaritas, great food, entertainment to just awesome owners, this small business can't be beat!

    Tried a new tequila

Really enjoyed having some good food and the atmosphere. Not only do they make good margaritas but they have a good bourbon selection. In addition, they provide great service!

This was an awesome place. The staff was welcoming and service was good. The food was delicious. And their spicy salsa delivered flavor and spice.

Stopped in here for a late lunch. We were in the mood for tacos and unfortunately this place didn't really hit the spot. I thought the prices were quite high for what you got. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were just ok and were quite small.

I wish that I could remember the name of the burro that I couldn't pronounce. The beef was unlike anything I'd had before. Very well seasoned, a healthy portion with rice and beans. The salsa was spicy, yet balanced with other flavors that didn't distract from the burro. Hand made tortilla chips and salsa are always a welcome sight at a sit down restaurant. The owner and her son very very kind and it was apparent that they love sharing their delicious food with everyone. I'll definitely be back!

The set-up: side of refried beans with spicy salsa to go with my house margarita.

Sadly, the service was slow, my meal was cold and overcooked and the restaurant wasn't full. Can't recommend it .

Numerous large…read moreand well positioned TV's, a large bar with ample seating and high ceilings, a side room with pool tables, a kitchen with a fryer and grill and a meu which appears suitable for a Sport's Bar. The outdoor batting cages are an added draw making it seemingly a family-friendly environment. We have been to Home Plate around 8 times in the past 1.5 years. So, by no means am I basing my opinion on a single visit. The food is basic bar food with nothing special about it. I can do better at home. Our last time eating there, my family had hamburgers. They were extremely messy and fair at best. The service has never been "fast" noreven attentive. With wages being fairly high in AZ, service will often suffer due to understaffing. My wife and I went to Home Plate last night to watch some preseason football. It appeared that a couple new bartenders were in training. A red-headed woman who appeared to be the trainer was incredibly rude to the trainees who approached her for some direction. A) Terrible condescending way to train B) Never put an employee down and definitely don't berate them in front of customers. I was surprised that the bartender in training didn't walk out. Later in the evening something transpired in the side room which was handled by this same worker yelling from the bar to the people in that room using expletives. Where is the Customer Service? Where is basic decency and tact? After last night, my wife and I were in agreement that we deserve a more professional sport's bar experience. At a minimum, I shouldn't have to bear witness to public shaming of a new employee. On a side note: I did find it uncomfortable that a large centrally located TV was always tuned to Newsmax regardless of it being a Sport's Bar. MAGA recruitment tool or perhaps conversion therapy for Trump Derangement Syndrome?

We got there and there were no low top tables available inside (needed a high chair), so we had to sit outside. It was completely empty outside. The hostess led us to a table and chairs that were soaked by the misters. She acted like it was fine. There was only one other low top outside. We went to it and there were tons of red ants crawling all around the ground and up the table and chair legs. Also a bunch of leaves and debris. The whole time going from table 1 to table 2, then noticing and commenting on the ants, the hostess was right there. No apology or attempt to clean anything up. Just standing there awkwardly, watching us take in the disappointment. It was clear the outside was not cleaned or even looked at in quite some time, and that would not change, so we left. We went to Lil Abners instead. As soon as we got there, we realized our terrible experience at Growlers was a blessing in disguise. The drink deals are better and cheaper at Lil Abners anyway. Plus, despite a staff of mostly high school and college age kids, they actually do a good job of making sure you have a good experience. And of course, the food is a million times better. So long Growlers. We won't be back.

Wondering why a brewery with kids? Well, half of this place is a giant game room filled with old and new pinball machines, a pool table, a couple video games, foosball, a boxing game and shuffleboard. I met Jim, the awesome bartender on duty, who told me some really net stuff about the place and gave me a limited tour of the brewing room. I tried the CDO Blonde beer, which is fitting for this blonde CDO grad. I thought it was really good. Jim explained that they don't add sugar to their brewing process, and instead their natural flavor options serve as the sugars in brewing. Things like fruits, flowers and nuts take the place of added sugar. The pinball machines are very fun, but I have to say the boxing machine was the highlight for the teenage boys in our group. Seeing who hit hardest was all the rage. Catalina Brewing Company takes their beer on the run, or should I say mountain biking trails, to serve to people at events, which sounds fun. There some neat history in this place. I hear they have trivia nights as well. They are family friendly, serving sodas as well. They make cocktails with wine converted to various types of "liquor ". Overall I thought this was a great place I'd go back to in a heartbeat. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, and parking. It was clean and best of all, cool in the summertime. Check out the walls when you're there, including the bathroom walls, for funny memorabilia.
