This is one of those places you go to and it seems like everyone is on a date. And they probably are. Night Market is a local favorite Thai spot that blends millennial chic ambience with some very decent Thai fusion. I say fusion because although it is almost all Thai food they do have a Crunchwrap as a special so I don't know what to make of that. My fiance and I like to go here for date nights, and the non-negotiable items are the signature curry and the chicken wings. Both are top notch versions of themselves, but if I had to pick one it's the curry (it's good for 2 people max.) My one note for management: please turn the music down. Thai places have 2 kinds of music these days. It's either acoustic covers of American pop songs or really loud EDM. This place is the latter. I don't want to sound too old but my fiance and I were all but shouting to make conversation. You will see me here again. I've not had anything on the menu yet that I'd rate lower than a 7.5/10 and that makes it easy to recommend. read more

Extremely Underwhelming. Came here based off reveiws which are hit or miss to begin with. To be clear, THIS IS NOT AUTHENTIC THAI. Good try but its american fusion. We got the larb gai which was spicy but overloaded with cilantro and salt. The Khao Soi was a joke. The curry had a smoky flavory like american bbq mixed with jerk chicken. Just a weird flavor. And the pad see ew was extremely bland although it had nice color. Plus, they cut the noodles into bite size pieces . Something we ate didn't sit well as our party all ended up with upset stomachs that night. The atmosphere is pretty cool though. Very hippie. Loud music making conversations difficult. This is a sit-down restaurant which is vastly over-hyped by the reviews online. My partner and I were excited to try this place after seeing the reviews however we were sorely disappointed upon eating here. We arrived and were informed there was a private event occurring, this reinforced the idea that this restaurant was worth waiting for, they said it was only going on for another 45 minutes so we were advised to check out the Lincoln while we waited which we did. After waiting upon our return trip to the restaurant we could see there was a good amount of people flooding into it right at the time the event was ending so once again we assumed it was worth waiting for. Upon walking inside I was not impressed by the amazon-level decor consisting of plastic flowers hung up everywhere along with 90s style accents such as zebra table clothes and neon colors lining much of the interior. One thing that I did like about the interior design was that they had Thai movie posters hung up on several walls, but overall I thought much of the design clashed with each other, I'm not sure what it was trying to be but then again I'm not from Thailand so perhaps I just don't get it. The food we ordered was the pad see ew gai and the chicken pad thai. I also ordered a red wine. The chicken pad thai first off was exactly what you'd expect, the problem is it's what I would expect from basically any Thai place, there was nothing unique about it and they did not put their own spin on it, for 7 bucks I could've gotten this anywhere. It was good, but it was nowhere near the levels of hype this place receives. That was the best part of the meal, the pad see ew gai was just awful, extremely bitter greens and way too salted, I would've sent it back if it was my order but my partner just took it to go. The red wine I got I do not remember the name of but it tasted like an olive, it tasted like something you put in a salad not something you'd drink a glass of with dinner. It was close to vinegar which made me wonder if it was going bad. Finally, the service was not awful but it was definitely poor. The one bright spot was the guy who had owner or manager energy when we came in, he was super friendly and personable, made conversation with us as we sat down and overall seemed like a cool guy. Our waitress seemed uninterested in her job or us, she took our orders, did not make any conversation with us, and visited our table twice over the course of an hour. She showed up, took our drink orders, and then our food orders. Someone else brought out our entrees "as they were ready" which is weird and struck me as lazy. Every interaction with staff after the first guy I mentioned felt transactional, as if they were just going through the motions, they barely even looked at us. Our server never returned to ask us how the food was (not good!), nor did she ever try to upsell us asking if we wanted more wine or anything else to eat like dessert, it felt as if she didn't know the very basics of being a server. I had to actually flag her down to get our check given to us which should never happen in a restaurant, and by the way I stood there watching her chat with and dance with her co-workers while we were staring at them waiting for anyone to notice us at all. Finally, on our way out no one said goodbye to us, no one was standing at the door, it felt like we were generally ignored the entire time. This restaurant is kind of a joke, it is propped up by self importance and purchased reviews that think because the decor is eccentric enough and the food doesn't come back up the wrong way this must be a hot spot in LA. I will not be re-attending this place, and anyone who is not looking to follow trends should do the same. read more

Trendy place with delicious Thai Food, the lighting and loud music does reminded us of the popular street night market in Asia. We took the server recommendation- hot soup, party wings, crispy rice salad, fried pork belly and both type of rice. ( it was very dark for us to read the menu anyway~~) All food were Delicious and flavorful, not too spicy or overpowering. The fried pork belly was a bit dry but still a new entree for us to try. I was genuinely excited to try this place because a few of my friends had amazing experiences here. I went in with high expectations... and unfortunately, it just didn't meet them. The chicken wings were absolutely phenomenal. 10/10. Super flavorful, perfectly cooked, and honestly some of the best Asian-style wings I've had in a while. We ordered the fried rice, and I have to say, I've never had fried rice that wasn't flavorful before this was a first. It just felt flat. No depth, no punch, nothing that made me want another bite. The crispy rice salad had potential, but the flavors felt confusing. There was a heavy cilantro presence and then another strong note that I couldn't quite identify. Instead of feeling layered and balanced, it just felt like a lot happening without real harmony. We also tried the crispy five-spice pork belly, and I would never order that again. The flavor was very strange and overwhelming in a way that didn't work. No one at the table enjoyed it, which was disappointing because that's usually such a standout dish at Thai spots. The shrimp pad Thai also lacked flavor, which surprised me. It didn't have that sweet-savory-tangy balance you expect. It just tasted muted. One thing I noticed overall is that the dishes didn't feel cohesive. Some items had overpowering, almost confusing flavors, while others had barely any seasoning at all. There wasn't that consistent thread tying everything together. The mango coconut rice was good sweet, comforting, and probably my second favorite thing after the wings but overall, most of the dinner fell short for me. I really wanted to love it, especially after hearing such great reviews from friends. I asked them to turn down the sound which they did was still extremely loud at 83 dB. I don't know how people that work in a restaurant don't have a clue about sound volume. A loud bustling spot that is always a great funky vibe! It is super super loud and the tables are put really close together so it is a bit distracting depending on where you are seated but I always go back for the FOOD. The things I love there are the crispy rice salad, the crispy five spice pork belly, startled pig, and the pad see ew is my favorite there! They give this fab dipping sauce with the pad see ew that is a bit tangy and spicy. The table cloths are fun and they are always blasting some tunes!! Decided to stop by Sahm as I needed to visit another place nearby and needed to eat dinner. Found this place via yelp and decided to give it a shot. Although the place was packed, was able to get a spot. The place is very lively and everyone is talking amongst themselves and it just feels like you're eating at bar in a way. Music is loud tho so talking with other people is gonna be difficult. I felt like I was screaming at the server when I was giving my order. Recommended items: wings: 8.2/10 - fresh and spicy and cooked to perfection. Sauce balance was really nice nham khao: 8.4/10 - was the price to see this on the menu as I don't really see this on a lot of menus in LA. Maybe I'm blind. Panang curry was yummy, especially with the roti and rice. Enjoyed the Crunchwrap too, but maybe my least fave of the three. The server warned us some of the items with one chilli pepper had a stronger kick than you might expect. That felt true for the Crunchwrap and the curry, but we have a low spice tolerance. I didn't get our server's name but she was really great. Gave us good context, made recommendations, and was the right level of attentive. My only real gripe was the noise level. Could barely hear my partner once the place filled up. I could imagine that feeling fine with more alcohol in me or if I was in a big group. We didn't have high expectations coming to a Thai spot on the west side, but everything was pretty good! We ordered 3 dishes.. all were flavor bombs (if anything TOO salty/seasoned). We purposefully picked the more fusion dishes to just try something different: *Pork toro - my friend wanted to get this, she loves jowls. I was hesitant because my perception was that it's mega fatty (and it really is), but the way they grill it gives it more texture and crisp on the outside and doesn't feel like pure fat. Really well seasoned, but I couldn't eat more than a few pieces. Imagine the fat portion of bacon crisped up, if you haven't had jowls before. *Crispy rice - my fav! We were kind of hoping for more greens, since it was called a salad lol. Picked up some to go food here on a late night after 9 PM and surprised to see how packed it was inside. The host was so sweet, she had curly hair like me and took our order and made recommendations. I tried the curry and the mango, sticky rice, and my friend had the eggplant dish. Sorry, I can't remember the names, but they were both so delicious. The curry, they didn't really give you an option on the spice like many other Thai restaurants, I would say it was a little spicy, but nothing crazy. The garlic naan they paired with it was delicious, a special thin type of naan that I'm not used to, maybe fried? So good Sadly, I didn't have enough room for the mango sticky rice so I didn't get to eat it until the next day. Everyone knows the sticky rice is only good on day one. Myself and 2 buddies tried to eat dinner here before my work shift at 7pm. Everything went well, until it didn't. After we ordered, only our appetizer and our drinks made it to the table before being informed that the kitchen was under inspection so no orders were being filled until further notice. Well atleast 30-40 minutes went by and having not even started our dinners yet we decided to close the bill and leave for another local joint. I'm not blaming them for inspectors popping in and holding things up, but I would expect atleast some kind of compensation for the wait and inconvenience, to no avail. Our server wasn't the best, somewhat flippant and I witnessed him being rude to this poor lady (and her young son) at the next table who was just trying to inquire about said wait times. As for the food we DID get, the bill was almost 24 bucks for 4 little wontons, some cucumber slices and a SMALL thai tea. Now the wontons were very good, but the value wasn't there for 18 bucks. My boyfriend and I came here spontaneously and had no trouble getting a table. They asked if we had a reservation when we arrived, we didn't but we were seated immediately. Good to know they take reservations though! It's very comfortable inside, and all the servers were kind and intentional. We ended up interacting with almost all of them. I also did not expect the pork belly to be so fried. The panang curry was absolutely delicious but was quite spicy, even though it didn't have a pepper on the menu. This restaurant is not for the faint of heart!! The pad see ew was very good as were the green beans, but they weren't anything to write home about. They also only have natural wine which is fun to try. The decor is very unique so it's a fun environment. Service was good and our waiter was knowledgeable about the food and wine. I had saved this spot to visit after passing by once and noticing a line out the door. It was definitely part of the new, gentrified wave of aesthetic that now defines much of Venice. If you are carb-loading for a race, this is a good choice. Or if you have been drinking, this is a good accompaniment as it's pretty salty and greasy. First - to reduce stress, make sure you have a reservation ... depending on time, a 35 to 45 minute wait is not unusual if you do not have reservation. The food here has never disappoints me ... it is always well prepared and tastes great. For most menu items the portion sizes are sufficient for two, maybe three persons. I find the service here to be very efficient and friendly, especially for a restaurant that seems to always be extremely busy. The restaurant is always very clean and the decor appropriate. The noise level is usually loud, so having a conversation can be a bit challenging. Parking is street parking and can be somewhat challenging. An awesome spot in Venice! Not too fancy but also great decor and vibe that makes it a fun place to go out for date night or with a group of friends. With the dim lighting and subtle furnishing makes this a really unique spot. All the dishes were quite good. The papaya salad is one of their spicer dishes and actually brings the heat so be careful with this one. The chicken thigh and chicken wings were also quite tasty and extremely juicy. There wasn't a dish here that was disappointing. The dessert was probably one of the highlights. We went with the thai sundae fried roti and the sticky rice. Both were spectacular. Great dishes to share amongst friends. The service was exceptional and all the staff were very friendly and personable. Don't think they take reservations so putting in your name ahead of time and hanging out somewhere else is probably the best way to come here. Go here for exceptional Thai food in a festive atmosphere. We went on a busy weekday night with reservations and it was buzzing. We started with the crab won tons which were tasty but a bit rich. My main course was a delicious full fish (sea bream), that came exactly as advertised-- sweet, sour and a decent chili kick, with plenty of crispy green beans. The beef short ribs in curry was well prepared and lovely. The pad Thai is very good. The wines are all natural and high quality. I had an excellent Italian vermentino with strong hints of marzipan in the tongue. The service is good but they seemed a bit stressed out. Parking can be tough. Came to Night Market for my first-ever Thai food experience and this place blew me away in the best way! We came on a crowded Friday night and I'm so glad we made a reservation. I also love that the wine selection is full of funky natural wines! The first time I came in, Coleen was our server and she was amazing -- so genuine, sweet, and charismatic. We loved the experience so much we came back with friends visiting from the East Coast, and were lucky enough to have her again! She made our night both times.
