    shrimp pad thai
    Sarah K.

Came here for a quick lunch today between appointments at the medical center next door, and was very impressed with the food and service! Thai iced coffee was delicious. Ordered spring rolls to start. Way too often at Thai or other southeast asian restaurants, the spring rolls are fried from frozen and the insides are way too wet and burning hot. Here, it was more like wrapper around fresh, dry veggies and deep fried to crispy perfection. Absolutely loved it! My partner ordered the Tom Kha, which was delightfully sour and a large portion. I had the shrimp pad thai, with perfectly cooked fresh shrimp, sticky noodles and great flavor. When we got some boxes for leftovers, our server included some extra dipping sauce for the spring rolls. We also saw him provide great service to other tables. The food also came out super fast and piping hot. Highly recommend and will definitely come back!

A small joint that delivers big flavor! I came here during the week for lunch. There was only one person manning the register and serving guests, but she promptly showed us to a table and gave us menus. I ordered the shrimp pad thai, which came with four tail-on shrimps and shredded carrot, red cabbage, and bean sprouts. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the overall flavor was delicious. Portion size was good, price was very affordable, especially for the area, and service was great to boot. I will definitely be back to try other dishes.

I ordered the shrimp Pad Thai. The food was good and fresh, but if you're looking for that classic sweet, salty, sour balance, this might not be your spot. The flavors lean on the lighter, healthier side (if that makes sense). The restaurant itself is small but the ambiance is nice. Mostly locals. Customer service was great, the server was really kind and attentive. Parking is conveniently located in the back, which is a big plus. They're open until 9PM, so it's a solid option for an early dinner. Overall, clean flavors, great service, but not your traditional Pad Thai taste.

The real deal. Authentic Thai food. We finally found a place (on the westside) with the authentic wok-driven crisp and white pepper sprinkled on top that takes pad see ew to another level. My husband had the pad krapow lunch combo (includes rice and spring roll) and agreed that this restaurant is comparable to what you can find in Thailand. A true hidden gem. Far better than most if not all the other thai places we've been to in LA, including those in Thai town. Don't sleep on this place. **it's 1am... days after I visited and I'm still thinking about it**

Very tasty and reasonable price. Pickup was easy and I didn't even have to ask for the chili sauce. Will come back to try more menu items!

It's hard to find authentic Thai cuisine, but Thongg Ake is it! They have great food, great service and friendly staff, I will definitely be back.

After 3 bites (with the fork they provided), I'm close to finishing it. 23. Pad See-Ew

My goodness this portion is sad. For $17 Pad see ew I expected a bit more. Once the cashier gave me the bag I automatically knew my meal was going to be SKIMPY as it weighed very little. I've tried pad see ew all over LA county from SGV to LBC and this is the saddest portion I've ever received. The flavor saves this rating as I do think the flavor is authentic and similar to other Pad see ew's I've had in the past. I just can't get over this portion! I work at the hospital next door and was excited to try this place as it's my first time. After ordering this I'm going to stay away and pack lunches from home. Pls upgrade your portion sizes as the taste is delicious. We get times are tough but please *praying hands*, we are hungry!

Extremely cute, green, and well decorated. Price was extremely reasonable- spent around $230 (including tip) for all the below + a drink. Let's get into the food. Appetizers: Pork Dumplings - 8/10 (GF rating 8/10) These were great. The inside was solid, outside was acceptable, and crunch on top was great. The sauce absolutely made it. Quite a good choice. Curry Puffs - 9.5/10 (GF rating 10/10) Delicious. You won't regret getting these. Pastry outside is amazing, inside is even better, tamarind makes it EVEN better. Just keeps getting better. Get them. Chicken Larb - 9/10 (GF rating 7.5/10) Very tasty. The sauce it's in is amazing and the flavor profile is just great. Highly recommend. Crispy Pork Belly Salad - 8/10 (GF rating 9/10) Also very good. The flavors all fit together extremely well. I'm not a fan of pork belly but this was done great. Main: Beef short rib - 10/10 (GF rating 10/10) Holy shit. We were so full at this point, it was unfortunate we couldn't finish this, because it was so good. Most tender beef I have ever had. I went at it with a fork, expecting to have a tiny bit of give, but it just fell off the bone, effortlessly. Easier than gliding through softened butter. I also normally don't like fatty pieces due to the texture/chewiness, and was worried I wouldn't like this dish as short rib is quite fatty. I absolutely LOVED the fat on this. It was impeccably rendered. Genuinely the best beef short rib I have ever had. The sauce and cilantro + peanuts it was paired with was a perfect flavor combination as well. Came with a delicious bread as well (naan-esque?) Dessert: Underwhelming, unfortunately. Got all 3. Thai Tea Pudding - 6/10 (GF rating 2/10) Pudding underneath was decent. Boba on top with the sauce was not. Boba not marinated in honey, just chewy bland boba! The custard itself was also not very reminiscent of Thai tea. Vanilla Soft Serve Sundae - 6/10 (GF rating- 5/10) Vanilla ice cream itself was very good. The salted caramel, not particularly, nor the Milo brownie on top of it, and the peanuts didn't pair well with it either. Very mid. Strawberry Basil Shaved Ice - 2/10 (GF rating 7.8/10) GF LOVED THIS. Of all the desserts here, she thought this was the best. I just didn't like this one a single bit. The shaved ice on top was fine but it was a very thin layer and was more about what was underneath (passionfruit pieces, tapioca-like balls, and coconut), which just wasn't it for me.

No leftovers, no over-ordering... a true test of discipline at a place like this. Started with a Thai iced tea that hit exactly right. Balanced, not overly sweet, and generously poured. Service throughout the meal was excellent. Attentive without hovering, and the pacing was spot on. I never felt rushed, which is rare when you're clearly on a clock. For my appetizer, I went with the Phuket wings. As someone who takes wings seriously, I can say these stood out. Crispy, flavorful, and coated in a Southern Thai curry sauce I hadn't experienced before. Rich, slightly sweet, with a depth that kept me going back for "just one more." For the main, I took the server's recommendation and ordered the Thai beef salad to balance things out. Smart call. The dressing leaned creamier than what I usually expect, but it worked. Bright, flavorful, and layered. I'll be honest, I couldn't quite finish it, but the beef didn't stand a chance. Every last bite. Dessert sealed the deal. The mango sticky rice, now famously known as the Cardi B Mango Sticky Rice, lived up to the hype. Perfectly ripe mango, warm sticky rice, and that coconut sauce tying it all together. Simple, classic, and done right. The space itself tells a story. Walls lined with photos of the owner alongside celebrities from all over. But what stood out more than the photos was the man himself. He made his way around the room, greeting guests, checking in, bringing real warmth to the experience. No hierarchy, no pretense. Everyone gets treated like they belong.
