My husband and I had breakfast at Nikki's last weekend and were pleasantly surprised! New owners are very friendly, coming over to your table to say hello. Menu was updated and food was great! Hubby and I decided t stop for breakfast before heading to Costco on a Friday morning. We should have gone to Starbucks. This stop ended up being $50 for breakfast, 1 coffee and 2 breakfasts. The prices are FAR too high with limited options less than $17. Service was lacking a bit. Quality and Quantity of food was ok. Not the cleanest place. Overall, I'd rather have gotten egg bites at Starbucks. If you really want to sit and sip coffee over a long breakfast there are better options in the area. I got the eggs benedict and honestly I didn't like it much. Usually it's a good slice of Canadian Bacon/ ham but then was thinly sliced ham and I just didn't like it. Hasbrowns were ok. Hubby got one of their "Atkins" menu items which is just doesn't come with hashbrowns, it's like keto or low carb options. his tomato slices that came with it did look good. We'd come for dinner a while back and that was spendy too but at least I got prime rib. We won't be back, maybe ever. read more

Tried again under the new ownership. Still top notch, great service, menu was expanded and still included all our old favorites, decor got a nice upgrade and the pies were sooo good. You know, I thought about posting this or not because the owners seemed really talkative and nice to the customers. But this recent incident, I can't get it out of my mind. I work in the medical field and I recently was in to eat breakfast. I realized one of their customers an older man around his late 80s fell outside on their sidewalk. And when I ran out there to assist him, there was blood everywhere on his head and on the sidewalk he ended up, cutting his head open he definitely needed stitches. I assessed the man and brought him inside so he can sit down because he was very unstable. I asked one of the waitresses to give me a first aid kit and they never provided me with one. They provided me with washrags and gloves that didn't even fit me. They were way too big. There was no one besides me and my mother in this side of the area which was the bar side. There was no customers in there. I'm upset on how the owner handled it. He didn't even say a thank you to me. Again no first aid kit. He didn't even give me a free coffee at least. If I didn't assess this guy, he could've easily have stayed on the floor and lost so much blood maybe even consciousness Because he could not get up on his own. So I am going to write this review because again I can't get it out of my head. I just can't believe how ungrateful the owner was towards us again we didn't even get a thank you for assisting in his customer that fell outside his place. read more

I was expecting a normal, dirty, greasy American diner - but this place was actually a pleasant surprise. The restaurant was clean, the water came quickly, the waitress was great. I recently went to Nikki's with my family because my dad and I wanted lunch, but my sister wanted breakfast... This was about five minutes away and seemed like a solid compromise. From the outside (and inside, really) it just looks like your typical diner. You can tell it's one of those places that has been around FOREVER and probably has a ton of older regulars. Which is where you find some of the best customer service and food, so that's okay! Our waitress was very nice and was quick. The restaurant itself (or at least where we were) was nice and clean. My dad got a sandwich that I can't remember, but I know he really enjoyed it! My sister got the kid's breakfast and was allll over it. For myself, I got the Chef Salad but REMIXED that ishhhh and took away the tomatoes (because EW), and added tuna and avocado. Might sound weird but it was bomb. Let me tell you real quick though... Their "half salad" is a JOKE! Not in the sense that it's like a small salad, either. I asked how big it was and she said "oh it's still generous" so I ran with it. I have one of those tiny baby bird stomachs so I can't eat a ton so it sounded like the half was gonna be a good choice. LET ME TELL YOU. This is one of THE BIGGEST salads I have ever seen in my life. And it was the half salad... Ya girl only finished half of the half. So... If you're not a big eater like me, definitely be prepared to STILL be overwhelmed. I'd definitely be down to go back. Their menu had lots that sounded yummy! read more

I eat here often because where else am I going to find an old time diner in the area? This is the typical country style diner that your grandparents used to go to (and probably still do). The decor is outdated and on the older side. Yes, most of the booth seats need to be recovered. The food is exactly what you think you're going to get- burgers, fries, cheap (sirloin) cuts of steak, pasta, and basic seafood. Where this place lacks in quality ingredients, they make up in quantity. I haven't had a serving size this big in the state. You will be full! The servers are the best. The same people are always there. I really appreciate that because you know that they are long term employees. They are nice, kind, friendly, know the menu, know what's out, and they always have a smile! Easy things they can fix: A prefilled glass of ice water that sits out in the open for hours is gross. After the ice has melted, it tastes bad. It doesn't take that long to fill a glass of ice water. If the ice has completely melted prior to serving it then you have filled too many glasses compared to the number of patrons that actually visit. Cleaning rags shouldn't be left out on the dining room floor chair backs. I counted two on my last visit. They should be put back in the sink area. I like the old feel to the place. Restaurants like these will probably shutter in my lifetime in order to make way for more modern restaurants. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. read more

I had the rare chance to come back and enjoy a decent sit-down restaurant. I ordered the Club sandwich and fries which were heaped over the three-piece sandwich. You will pay a little more eating here as compared to an Applebees, but the prices here are worth every penny. As always, there is a help wanted sign but the service was good despite the lack of help. If you haven't tried the place, you ought to if you live near Covington. read more

I haven't been to this joint in about 5 years. It's under new ownership. It's owned by two brothers I believe. I say I believe because the two were going around greeting people and asking how everything was. I overheard them say they owned the place for about two years. It's funny, I don't think I've ever mentioned that my heritage is Mexican and these two gentlemen are or have similar heritage. The reason I am saying this is because the majority of the people dining here are white, which is fine what's not fine is that I was never approached or greeted or farewelled by these two gentlemen. I would give zero stars but it would not be fair to the waitress and to the food I ordered. I ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns and a stack of French toast. It was all good and the service was on point. I will try coming here again and see what happens. I recommend this place for breakfast, will try their lunch or dinner next time. Service was incredibly attentive, friendly, & fast, despite only 1 waitperson handling every table, with just a little side assist from the manager. I wish I got that young man's name. He had a wonderful attitude. The whiners at the next table, didn't faze him. (the male half held up the waiter nitpicking how the sides offered was worded on the menu) I had cajun chicken tortellini, which was delicious & brought to me very hot. The portions here are intense. I sincerely had food for 2 meals. I will say that, their prices are way too high for the type of place they are. The atmosphere reminds me of the family restaurants I used to eat at in the Midwest. And the daily special that I got was incredibly bland until I added salt. The lady that took care of us was very kind and helpful, and was very attentive to my coffee--which is rare for servers in the Seattle area, even at breakfast places. The dessert case right as you walk in the door is mouth watering. Our family has a rule though that if regular dinner isn't finished, there is no dessert option. Sadly, we did not get to sample the gigantic portions of pie and cake. They looked so good, and nostalgic, in their glass display. We might go back specifically for the desserts; however, the prices are higher than "fancy" chain restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and Red Lobster--but it's food is closer to Elias Brothers. If I'm going to budget that kind of expenditure, this place isn't where I would choose to spend it...they dont have those free cheddar bay biscuits. read more

My husband talked me into giving this restaurant a second try. It was disgusting. Ordered fried cubed steak - it was cold and very greasy. It came with mash potatoes - I kid you not the plate had about a pound of mash potatoes on it - the potatoes engulfed the whole plate topped with cold gravy. When the waiter sat it down on the table he said he was embarrassed to even bring it out. The gravy and potatoes had a fowl smell. We went to Nikki's last Friday. We had a very disappointing experience. I ordered the seafood pasta. The only reason that I selected this dish was because it had crab in it. The waiter did not state that they ran out of crab. The meal arrived with no v crab and I asked the waiter and he said they were out of crab. I told him that I only ordered that dish because it said it had crab. He then tried to lie and say get it didn't have crab then he says that they gave more shrimp to make up for it. The food is great. Service is great. The interior (tables, chairs, etc) are kind of outdated and worn. Always wanted to try this place and finally went. Our service was very friendly and informative. He recommended the Reuben sandwich and he was not wrong! They make a mean Reuben! Our server was super nice and attentive. She was the only server working that night. She had so many large parties. Had very little help and had some rude/entitled customers. The food was okay. Could get better at a Denny's or Shari's. My salad was swimming in dressing, the potatoes were dehydrated (tasted exactly like KFC's potatoes) and the gravy was thick and cold you could see the fat. We have been to Nikki's on several occasions. It's close to home and the food is pretty good. The portions are huge and they do a great job when you request something special like crispy hash browns. I appreciate the fact that they take the time to actually sanitize the tables. The host is super friendly and the waitstaff is always pleasant. Why only 4 stars? THEY NEVER PRE BUS. EVER! We celebrated a special birthday here last week, and it was the PERFECT lunch spot. The food was delicious and the service from Jayda and her colleagues was kind, caring, and attentive. (She was one of the best servers we've ever had anywhere!) Because there was a bar, we were concerned about the noise level, but there was a glass partition that helped keep the restaurant quiet, and even our hearing-impaired friend had no trouble hearing. We loved being able to take home delicious, locally-made pie afterwards. This is definitely our favorite new meeting spot! read more
