Best Chinese food buffet this business has probably been here for close to 40 years so there doing something right

We visited at about 11:30 am 3/02/2026 for the lunch buffet. The food was cold and bland. My sister ordered a combination fried rice to-go the shrimp and vegetables where under cooked. I am extremely disappointed in the way my sister's complaints where handle on the phone by Ashley the supposed Manager. Instead of handling business she was rude. My mom and I some years ago use to-go weekly for the buffet and never had a complaint. I heard the former owner passed away. And what a shame. Sometimes it's better to just bite the bullet and STFU and handle business. read more

This place is amazing. I went at 5 pm everything fresh and great. All the different foods had a unique taste. Not like normal Chinese buffets. Small selection but very good flavor. The sauce for chicken wings was amazing, fried cabbage was delicious and the egg rolls had 3 flavors to choose from. Will definitely try this place for lunch. Best Chinese food I found since moving to this area. Carry out is priced by the pound which is fair. Will definitely be going back.

We ordered from the menu instead of the buffet. Food options on buffet were very sparse to nearly empty for a weekday evening, which we understand. We ordered Shrimp Egg Foo Yung. It had good sized shrimp. The brown gravy was decent flavor without being too salty. The shrimp and scallop with lobster sauce entree had packaged mixed vegetables with a mild sauce. The marinated pork dish had Chinese BBQ mixed with vegetables. Overall, it was a solid three on the food. It was a good dinner after a long driving day. The server Anh was really friendly and nice . Atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. There were small groups that came and went so they have a steady evening crowd. read more

The food just wasn't good. The best thing they had was jello. I asked for some honey with my hot tea and the girl had an attitude and looked confused. She never came to tell me they didn't have honey for their hot tea. Also it was just gross in there. Most of the plates and cups were dirty too. read more

This is the Best Chinese restaurant we have found since moving to Milton. All the food in the buffet was hot and fresh. Everything was properly labeled so you knew what each offering was. Their Shrimp Tempura was as good as any I have ever had. Fresh shrimp with just the right amount of batter. One thing I really liked was that their Won Ton soup was served as a broth, with the won tons kept in a separate serving dish so you weren't eating soggy dough. Their fried wings were also really good. They have three tables full of food, one table is exclusively chicken and beef dishes. And one which is desserts. There is also an ice cream cooler with eight different flavors. The servers were awesome. Throughout our meal all four four servers working stopped by our table to refill sodas and to take away empty plates. It's not a fancy place but it can get crowded at lunch and dinner. You can order off the menu, but why, and you can also take your buffet choices to go with your to-go container charged by weight. This is my new Go-To Chinese restaurant. read more

Nim's has the best buffet in Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Escambia counties. The food is always very fresh and high quality. The staff is super friendly. I stop in at least 3-4 times a month. Love it! read more

Staff was friendly and polite.. Quality of food was horrible. They obviously don't keep the food stirred and looking fresh as it was hard dried in the pans. There were bugs flying all over the fruit and kimchi.. The only thing I found worth eating was the steamed white rice. Looks like a case of poor management Prices were reasonable but I wouldn't eat there again for free. read more

On the road all day. Just wanted quick tasty Chinese. Well. We REALLY screwed up when we picked Nim's Garden. It wasn't quick but it certainly wasn't tasty. First off, we didnt feel the least bit welcome. The fried rice must have been on the warmer allllll day since it was dried up and almost crunchy. The lomein was no better. Huge pieces of veggies that were under-cooked, a lot. The sweet n sour chicken wasn't too bad but the sauce for dipping was way too thick. Used to go to Main Moon, until the health dept cited them for rodent activity.... and more than once. Guess we'll have to find a place a ways from here or just buy a wok and do it ourselves. We will NEVER go back to Nim's. If I could give a minus star, it would definitely apply here. read more

Went there for lunch after our first 3 were closed (down like all of a sudden). Had a choice between this place and Hungry Howies (next door). We were tired of driving around and didn't want Burger King! Should have went to Howies. Yes, the pace was clean, but the food was not even marginally good! Had egg foo yung on the buffet, I asked if there was gravy for it. I was told no! Dry EFY, and yes, it was DRY. I had to go to work right afterwards, and, let me tell you, that junk "talked" to me all evening! I had to suffer through it though as I could not spend my entire shift in the ladies room (if you get my drift)!! This is the next day, and I still am feeling the effects of this. Chinese Buffets are like Pizza. Even when you find yourself trying the worst one, its still pretty darn good. Fortunately, Nim's Garden, In my opinion, is far from the worst one. It is actually a reasonably-priced, satisfyingly tasty, and clean one. Though they sport the smallest buffet and smallest location out of all the Asian buffets in the area, the selection/quality of food is still quite good. They have all the usual dishes you would expect to find, General's Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Beef & Broccoli, etc. But they also have fare that you wont find at the other, larger buffets, such as a wonderfully savory Beef Bulgogi, fresh Kimchi, Black Pepper Shrimp (Probably my favorite offering from Nim's) and Singapore-style Rice noodles. There is also a wide variety of appetizers, as well as a salad bar and dessert bar, which has AMAZING ice cream. Make sure to save room. The interior is, for the lack of a better word, nice. It features the expected asian decor, and is very clean, almost minimalist. It also feels a lot bigger and more open than its small size would leave you to expect. They also have an interesting fish tank. Fun! The restaurant appears to be family-owned, and is staffed by capable, friendly people. I often see them conversing with regular customers, which Nim's seems to have alot of. But, rightfully so. The Lunch Buffet is (I believe) Offered Monday-Saturday 11:00 - 3:00 with the dinner buffet starting at 4:30, and all-day dinner on Sunday. You are also able to order off of a menu should that appeal to you more than buffet dining. All in all, Nim's is a Friendly, reasonably-priced, satisfying family restaurant. Though it may be the underdog when compared to China Sea or Grand Buffet (My personal favorite), it can definitely hold its own against them, and any other asian food in the area. Its a very nice quaint place to sit down and eat as much as you want. the food is always warm and tasty. Its very cheap for a buffet being around $9.50 a person and absolutely wonderful for the price and i would say that i would say it is better than The Grand Buffet (the other local Chinese buffet restaurant). in all this is one of the best places to go in Milton read more

The time of day you go is the most difference in opinion. I went around 2:00 pm and they where just closing the buffet (they close it for about an hour and a half) and they where strongly lacking in food diversity and most things where cold. The waitress told me to ask if I needed anything listed, which was nice, but I'd rather not be the trouble. I was also witness to, what I overheard, was sexual harassment between a customer and one of the waitresses. So I recommend to be wary of the customers rather than the waitresses, they where polite. The food was nice, but again I would have liked it to have been warm. Again, the time of day you go is the most impactful of your rating. I would recommend going when they are busy at lunch or dinner, then you know they are making food then and there. read more

Love this place. Best buffet around. Always fresh or they will make it fresh. Great staff. I eat here probably a minimum of two nights a week and enjoy the take out. If I had to name one thing that makes me eat here more than anywhere else its the fact that the food is classic oriental. The selection is smaller than the mega-oriental buffets but they have all the good stuff. My wife's favorite is the Cheese Ragoons and mine is the Egg Rolls (3 varieties of rolls). Very disappointing. The dingy looking atmosphere should have tipped me off to the quality and taste of food. I barely made it home and ran to the toilet and threw up. Then I suffered with horrible stomach pains and stomach ache all evening and night. My fortune cookie was cryptically accurate, it said, "Pamper your body today." Not very good. I ordered general chows ( misspelled) chicken lunch special. It comes with soup. When I was getting ready to leave I looked in bag, no soup. I asked if it came with soup, the response was " yeah if you want it." So she went and got the soup. When I opened the container it didn't look like what i ordered. It was chicken, but not sure if it was what I ordered. It was dry and over cooked. The egg roll was so hard to chew. It was inexpensive for the lunch combo, but not very good. I have given Nim's Garden a couple chances to give me a good experience. I will not go back. Every time if have been has been on different days of the week and different times of day as well. The food every time has been alright. Not great but not awful. But in the pan on the buffet it looks like it has been sitting for hours. Most likely it has, and the food is not hot. It is not worth my money. The employees have also mentioned some rude comments about the conversation I was having at the dinner table with my mother. Overall I just don't care for the place or the food quality. There isn't much of a selection either. read more

I'm partial to the chicken dishes such as General Tso's Chicken, Honey Chicken, Pepper Chicken, etc. The chicken had sauce, but the sauce had no taste. Horrible. Food was cold and stiff. My server dropped my drink off and never came back. Didn't even smile. Table wasn't wiped off when I sat down. Was sticky and covered in crumbs. Nims has been around since my wife & were kids. Every time we have tried it, about decade intervals now, it has been terrible. The food is dry, tasteless or tasted "off". There were two poor girls over burdened trying to maintain it with no sign of structure or management. I will say they had no sign of dust on fans or lights. Ceiling dirty, place is dated, signs of water damage on walls, carpet thread bare, but fans taken care of. No food being refilled in the empty area's the entire time, refills of unsweetened tea when we all have sweet, but looks like that may have been just operator error as we watched them adding sugar and stirring with a witch spoon to fix. We wondered how they were still in business for 100th time in 20 years. As we looked around, it became apparent. A very non discerning clientele. We will NOT be back. read more

I have been going to Nims for about 17 years and I choose this resturant over any chinese resturant in the area. It is small, but clean and the food is awesome!! The service is even better. Based off of some Google reviews and the fact that it wasn't far off of the highway, my husband and I decided to eat here (we're from out of state). As far as Americanized Chinese restaurants go, this one wasn't bad. The egg rolls were fresh and we were surprised that they have a house-made duck sauce. We received large portions of food and the prices were cheap. The staff was very friendly and attentive; we would probably stop by again the next time we're on I-10. read more

The most disgusting food I have ever had. I got a headache shortly after leaving, I am guessing due to the overdose of msg. I ended up vomiting an hour later. I Rarely eat buffet (because they are gross and a lazy way of preparing food), but I tried it, only to remind me not to do it again. The peppered shrimp was chewy like rubber, heavily salted and the noodles were chewy and hard. IMO, it felt like we were eating yesterday's buffet food that didn't get eaten. The place is old and not taken care of on the inside. The ceiling, drooping and filthy, doesn't help. I had a short lunch, needless to say, and as I left all I could think of was what the kitchen must look like!! Will NEVER go back. Angus, who wrote such a great review must know the owners and is trying to help, but the minute you walk into the door, you'll see he is way off course!!
