I really don't like buffets but this buffet was different. The food was fresh and they had a nice selection. The layout of the food was very appetizing and the presentation was great, I had the lightly fried shrimp, black pepper chicken and some rice from the hibachi station. There's a large fruit station, tons of seafood and red meat options, a large bar of asian dishes with a soup bar. A sushi area and hibachi station. After reading Yelp reviews for this restaurant I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It's been a long time since I've been to a Chinese food buffet. It seems that usually food is just mediocre. At Chow Tyme I have to say some of the dishes were actually good. The Coconut Shrimp, Pineapple Chicken, and Peanut Chicken were among the better entrees. The won tons in the won ton soup were also good. Condiments are readily available, from hot chili oil to chili paste to sriracha to Soy sauce and hot sauce; they have it all. The service was good, too. The dining room attendant made sure beverages were maintained and cleared dirty dishes regularly. The place was fairly clean but the labels identifying various dishes were badly faded or in some cases missing altogether. Decent buffet. The mood for noodles landed me here with a friend during lunch time (12:00pm) We arrived to a mellow restaurant with not too many people . It was quiet. Staff greeted us and took us to our table and our drink order was placed. By the time we left (12:40pm) the restaurant has filled up quite a bit. The buffet area is relatively small compared to other buffets I've been to. The selection of food is okay. Sushi station as well as station to create your own fried rice and stir fry noodles; this was nice. The other food displayed varied in appeal . 8/21/22 Update I was back in town, and decided to take the family here for eat. It was a Sunday night and it's was super crowded. I will say the quality of food has gone down here. It definitely wasn't what it was 7 years ago. The best thing I had here was the tub of ice cream for dessert that I didn't get any photos of. I had the sushi which was decent. The hibachi was okay. Ok, so we went rather late, that being said the overall experience was an unexpected pleasure. The food had amazing flavor and was better than expected although being near the end of the evening. My Queen is currently on a Lioness diet (protein only under Dr's supervision) and I was craving Asian. The Hibachi items offered on the buffet truly saved the day with her. The food was good. The atmosphere was ok. The service was utterly deplorable! My family and I eat there every other month or so because the food really is good. But our server refused to serve us because last time we were there we didn't leave her a tip. Perhaps if she actually did her job then I would be happy to leave her a tip, but I'm not tipping any server who can't clear a table or refill the drinks in a timely fashion. I complained to the manager about the server and he barely spoke a word of English, so to get my point across to him I deliberately brought him the dirty dishes that hadn't been collected since we had started eating, and I placed them in his hands at the front desk by the checkout. His wait staff said some pretty nasty things to me and my family during our visit, but nothing was done about it. I paid for the meal because that was the right thing to do being that we did eat. I hope they get their service back in check because this was the first time in my 12 years of eating there that something like this has ever happened. Went back with my family and were seated in a back room that smelled of mold, wasn't as well lit, and where there was a really annoying noise the entire time like a high-pitched buzzing. The smell in particular kind of ruined the experience for me. If they insisted on seating me in this area again, I'd honestly probably just leave. Also worth noting that while it may have partially been my shoes to blame, I nearly slid onto my ass at least 3 times going to the buffet area because of one really slick area in the floor. We have a Christmas Eve tradition of eating Chinese food. And while the Pensacola area seems to be a near desert of sit down, good Chinese food, we decided this was the closest we could get. Thankfully it was open and not very busy so we could sit as a part of seven right away. Drinks orders were taken and served pretty quick, but upon an inspection of the buffet, we quickly realized this place was closer to Golden Coral than Chinese. They had pretty good sushi, but nothing was labeled or, if it was, the label was wrong. They also had a hibachi station to build your own bowl and have it cooked in front of you. I erred on the side of spicy which turned out to be a bad idea, at least for my stomach, as it was REALLY spicy. If you're looking for a little bit of everything, it'll suffice but it's not very authentic Chinese. read more

I have been going to Chow Tyme in Pensacola since it has opened. The last five times I went I always say I will never go again. The food has gotten worse and worse more mushy not as hot the rooms they assign you to are the farthest away and when you ask for the closer room, they tell you nobody is working in that room but yet there's 12 to 15 servers in the restaurant, they send the servers to the rooms farther away. They treat the customers like shit and the food is become horrendous. The sushi has become in edible and the entire atmosphere is ridiculously bad. read more

They have an array of fresh salads, sushi, Chinese food, seafood, pizza/fried foods, a hibachi and a self scoop ice cream section. I rarely like sushi at a buffet BUT I actually found myself really enjoying their sushi. It came out fresh and was pretty good. I then asked if I could get food by the weight as I am unable to eat very much at all, and certainly not enough to pay for an adult buffet price. They said yes. My wife and I ate there Saturday Jan. 13, 2024 for lunch. Restaurant was clean, greeted as we came in and were seated fast. That's about the only positive things I can say. I know it was a buffet and it's not going to be the quality of order as you go but c'mon. After months of being away due to the disgusting display of service and aggressive behavior we dealt with from a specific server, I decided to listen to my husband and give this place one last chance today. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER LISTENED. We just walked out right now after having our water clearly tampered with multiple times. I sipped from our waters and noticed a medicine like taste, so I asked for a replacement. Got the replacement, same thing, all while the server said something in another language and laughed. At this point, we both literally only ate bites of our food because who can eat without having something to drink. So I went to the front and tried speaking with them regarding my concern, especially after our prior experiences with the disgusting server. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and know when something tastes off. The guy at the front called the manager and translated even though he didn't need a translator because the manager literally kept replying to what I had to say as my husband tried to reason with them as we only had a bite so why were they forcing us to pay full price. They kept stating that the "water is fine" because he just grabbed a cup and drunk the water and it was fine and like I explained to him, it was because YOU grabbed YOUR own water. I don't know what they did to my water when they grabbed it. Because they kept taking our cups to the back, but the other people had their waters filled by a pitcher the server brought out. While I was having the conversation with the manager, the server who had aggressive behavior before, kept staring at me and smirking, only furthering my suspicions of our waters being tampered with. So we ended up paying full price for basically eating NOTHING. It will be reported to the bank and I am currently making a call to the non emergency number. I'm sick to my stomach and disgusted.
