Hi, I've been looking for a good BBQ rest. on the So. Side for a while and when I searched again, found 911. I called ahead & ordered the "Family & Friends, serves 2, half slab, half chicken, 1/2 lb brisket & 2 small sides". I was greatly surprised when I got it....let me count the ways: 1. The site has great presentation. 2. I called ahead, they said it would be ready in 15 mins.....REALLY! 3. Smelled smoke from the street - wish I could bottle it & wear as perfume. 4. It was ACTUALLY ready in 15 mins. 5. Food did not look/taste like it had been sitting for a while. The meat was tender, sauce was great, baked beans, mac & cheese tasted home-made, licked my fingers clean. I think the BBQ Academy should present them with an Oscar for quickest turn-around, best food and best restaurant. Pig is king. read more

Today's experience was epic. My food was the perfect temperature, seasoned well, and tender. Just how I like it!!!! I almost missed out, because they were sold out at 4:00 pm. Mind you, closing time wasn't until 7. Everyone who came behind me was highly disappointed. I really think this food is excellent. Their bbq sauce is just delicious. The only thing is this is really a lunch spot in my opinion. I get off work at 5. Hoping our experience was a one-time thing.. My husband and I kept seeing the little Nine-One-One shack on 111th, and we've been wanting to try it out for some time. The night we decided to finally try them out, they ran out of almost every item we were looking to try! What we ended up getting was the St. Louis Ribs, Pulled Chicken, Mac n Cheese and the coleslaw (wanted to try their pulled pork, brisket, and corn bread) - the ribs were pretty fatty, and hardly had any real meat to pick at :: the pulled chicken was pretty good, and was quite tasty with their sauce :: the mac n cheese really had no flavor, but the coleslaw was tangy and creamy. All in all, I'm hoping that maybe this was just an off night for them and that if we decide to come back that they are able to offer us more than their scraps for the night. read more

love the rib tips, juicy and freshly cooked, no dried out, day old ribs served. I also like the greens/with turkey meat. They have several other sides customer can choose from but I must have the greens. I could order other sides too for a small price, but have not tried them, you choose one side per meat order. The medium sauce is also very good, I order an extra cup. I do get very frustrated when I try and place an order online and get a message that food item is sold out, no online orders being taken. Their site does tell customer that food is served until they run out for the day. Good food is worth the wait and 911 fresh food is definitely worth the wait! Wowza!!!! Ordered the brisket sammich, side of mac & cheese, greens, corn bread and a slice of pound cake!!! Brisket wasn't falling apart, it was missing that super tenderness that I like, but it did not lack flavor!! Don't get me wrong, it was tender juss not as tender as I'd like. Nevertheless; mac n cheese was so yummy n cheesy, n da greens are some of the best I've had!! Cornbread was decent, but what had me at hello is the frosted pound cake!!! Better than nothing bundt cake!!! I'm in awe over this dessert which I wish I would've got more of!!! Their barbecue is really good. I've tried everything on the menu and for the most part liked it all. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I had 2 negative experiences trying to order from them through delivery apps. One time they called shortly after I placed the order and said they didn't have one of the items and offered a substitution, and that was disappointing but fine. The other time however... they never called and the driver from the delivery app had to contact me when they got there to tell me one of the items I ordered wouldn't be ready for 2.5 hours. That kind of service is pretty unacceptable. I use delivery apps very regularly and most restaurants will take an item off the menu on there if they're out of it. If they're unable to that for some reason then they need to reach out like they did the first time. read more

Sometimes I sit on my phone looking at food options in the neighborhood and 30 minutes later I'm looking over the options for the 10th time, as if something different I really want is going to magically appear. Kind of like when you keep going to the empty fridge hoping something is going to come out of hiding, and you just can't accept that it's not gonna happen. So many burger & fry, pizza and sandwich shops in the neighborhood -- many good -- but something different, like a bbq place, was very much needed. I've been to the place now twice. After the first time I called right after I ate my to go order to tell them they're doing a fantastic job. Everything I've tried has been outstanding. Rib tips, brisket, hot link, chicken, sweet potatoes, Mac n cheese, cole slaw, peach cobbler. Prices are very reasonable, portions good, service is friendly, and the place is clean. It's kinda like a bbq version of Chipotle. We will be regulars and definitely will recommend to others. read more

Not what I expected bc the setup of the restaurant is more fast food service. The food was still really good and piping hot. We ordered the brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and hot links with fries, mac n cheese and peach cobbler. Everything was delicious. The hot link was the only thing that was weird. My sister and I got takeout from 911 BBQ yesterday. I'm always a little leery of barbecue joints, being allergic to tomatoes. (I know, I know, how do I get through the day? Another story for another time.) I called and asked if the meat had sauce all over it; they said no, they put it on after, so if I want a sauceless sandwich that was most doable. OK, so we took the plunge. I got a brisket sandwich, and, wow, was it good. Smoked to the point of being super-tender, just a tiny bit chewy, just perfect. It comes with a side of your choice; I went with fries (although I was eyeing the mac and cheese, which I'll have to try next time), which were excellent. So many places have wimpy, soggy fries; these were nice, crispy of the outside, creamy on the inside, just the way I like them. Will I be back? Yes. Oh, yes. I stopped at this place three times and they were always closed. This was during the beginning of pandemic, so I didnt hold it against them. When we finally got someone on the phone, they were a bit short. But the in-store service was pleasant. Over the course of two visits, ive tried the tips, brisket sandwich, chicken, Mac, greens, baked beans, slaw, and peach cobbler. No judgement! I said tried mean a fork or two. Anywho my favorite, hands down, are the tips. They are tender, flavorful and have a good sauce. The sides are good too. I prefer brisket as a stand alone so I wasn't excited about the sandwich. I think it's a good alternative to the standard bbq with fries. This is more of a dinner that's a good value (portion for price). I will definitely return. read more

Very very rude owner/manager. My first time visiting this business because I heard the food was pretty good, but was also told that the gentleman is very arrogant and can be rude. I went about 4:00 and waited about 12 minutes before I was ackowledged. Then I was told to wait a few minutes while he did inventory and could let me know what he had to sell. I've never been to a business that counts how much food left hours before closing time, then not even a simple apology or a thank you for being patient. All I received was a unprofessional attitude telling me what he could not sell me. I will never visit this poor customer service establishment again! Well I was looking for a place to find good rib tips because they're very hard to find in Chicago places that used to be good or not good anymore. This place the atmosphere was cheerful it was bright Airy the service was good everybody was friendly accommodating but I was disappointed. I was disappointed by the french fries. Most people like to have their french fries underneath their rib tips so that rib tip flavor juice whatever you want to call it oil absorbed into the fries but having cajun fries just don't go with rib tips it just doesn't so I was greatly disappointed that the sauce was kind of watery and they didn't have a hot BBQ sauce as well so very nice place very nice establishment the owner and his workers were very nice I just don't think I'll be returning to that place for ribs read more

Yesterday I finally got the opportunity to try a few samples of food from 911 BBQ SHACK. OMG, in the 14 years since I moved south, this is the first time I had what are THE BEST RIB TIPS ever! I'm doing my best to support businesses that I know, but I actually know the owner and am SO GLAD the food was SOOOO GOOD! Oh so tender, seasoned just right and mouth watering. Wow. Just WOW! I knew we were in for a treat before we even walked in! It smelled great! We've been looking for a good BBQ place and had gone to one the previous week that can't hold a candle to this place. In my limited experience, BBQ is hard to find, so when I come across something good, I get it! I'm eating it as I write this! It's tender, moist, juicy and incredibly tasty. My husband got rib tips which are tasty and moist. I'm not a huge fan of BBQ sauce, but this sauce is amazing! I got it on the side and it's hot! Temp hot, not spicy hot. They said they only have once sauce and it's all they need. It's super clean inside and they cut everything in front of you which is great because the other place I went to didn't. You can immediately see that it's going to be awesome. The greens are great! I don't see greens too often, but I thought I'd try it and yum! "mmm. good rib tips" my husband just said. "Nice and tender." My only complaint, and this is ridiculously nitpicky, is that the cole slaw portions are small. But, that's it! I see this place becoming a chain. Great addition to the neighborhood. Been coming here for a few months and I just forgot to write a review. I usually go multiple times a week because I love barbecue so it's great to have this place in the neighborhood. I'm a huge fan of the rib tips and I usually get the medium order. They're delicious and cooked perfectly. The barbecue sauce is unreal which greatly enhances the tips along with their other entrees. I love the half/full chicken, too. It's got lots of flavor and lots of meat. Their brisket sandwich is also really good. I've tried most of their entree options and all are good, but those are my top 3 favorites. I get Mac and cheese and coleslaw every time and both are pretty solid sides. I could go into much more detail about the food, but basically it's all really good and would definitely recommend it. The service is great. Everyone is very friendly and personable... they greet me by name whenever I come in and ask how my day has been. I love how you watch them prepare the food in front of you. This place is very clean and well run. It is a small place (it's called bbq shack for a reason) so carry out is probably your best bet, but they do have a few tables if you want to eat inside. Occasionally, there will be a fairly long wait for some entrees while they cook more. However, they have so many delicious options it should not be a problem. Prices are all fair and comes with a good amount of food for what you're paying for. I don't have anything bad to say about this place and will continue to dine here quite often. This BBQ shack is really nice inside. I love the way they did the interior. The seating is very limited here, so be ready to only sit 2 people to your group, or do carry out. That is the only limitation here. Everything from that point is up, Up, UP!!! I have had a lot of BBQ, and most of it is either top notch Texas BBQ, or Tennessee BBQ. I have had few BBQ experiences that put those areas of this country to shame. Well, I was again amazed at what 911 has going on. It was my first time eating here. Me and Q showed up and were greeted by warm and friendly workers! Warm and Friendly makes the Dream Work!! Every time!! Now on to the food. The most difficult dishes to get right, in my opinion, are the coleslaw and the mac&cheese. Man, this joint knocked both of those dishes out of the park! The coleslaw is a sweeter variety, so if you love that, then get an extra side of this. The Mac&cheese is the moist, gooey kind, so if that is the stick to your ribs variety you are craving, get another side of it. Now, the chopped brisket Sandwich! POW! Smacks you in the face with all the great taste you need from Brisket!! POW POW!! The sauce they pour over the brisket keeps you wanting more. One thing I would love to try from this place is a burnt ends meal. Literally, when I was finished eating here, I wanted to order all of it over again! It's that good. Q and I were having a debate afterwards. We were not sure if they smoke all this wonderful meat onsite, or if they cook it else where and bring it in. Not that it matters, but we were curious. One thing is for sure, if you don't stop at 911 BBQ Shack, then you going to miss out on one of the best things this part of town has going on. Period!! Let me start by saying that this was a last minute lunch stop on my way to another restaurant with my co-worker. My co-worker warned me that they will close once the food is gone, so I was not expecting much, but they did have everything available. I ordered the rib tips, brisket (without bread), mac & cheese, greens, baked beans, and peach cobbler. The rib tips and brisket were super tender and so flavorful, it was like something my mother would cook at home. The person that prepared my food didn't ask if I wanted sauce on or off, but thankfully I wanted sauce on the meat. I knew when the gentleman poured that fresh sauce from the pot on the stove into the bin that this sauce was about to be smackin!!!! And it was! The sides were very tasty, well seasoned. The turkey meat in the greens was also tender, the mac and cheese was a little overcooked but not mushy and really nice and cheesy. The peach cobbler was just like I love it, a lot of flaky, buttery crust (YUMMMMYYYY!!!!) it was not dry and the peaches were cooked perfectly. I almost hurt myself because even though I was full I didn't want to stop experiencing the flavors. I will say the customer service was good. The ladies greeted us as we came in and gave suggestions. The food prep was a little slow, but I honestly appreciated the care that was being put into preparing my plate. It wasn't just thrown in and messy, she took care to make sure it was neat and together and I truly appreciated that. The restaurant was very clean and organized, the people preparing the food wore gloves and were very careful with how they handled our food. I drove for an hour to get here,To see what the rave is! I ordered Rib Tips Last one that was in the first cooker.Big mistake very dry to taste. I also ordered beef Brisket Dry. Staff was good. but not too much to say about the food.The food was sitting there in a warmer for it looked like a few hours.When foods sits in a warmer,You lose the whole taste. And then the food drys out. Sorry not a fan.If you want good BBQ this is not the place.I should of been told that if you want fresh the other food will be coming out soon and wait.Nope I got dry food. Won't be back here.
