First time trying this place out after a bunch of my friends recommended. We placed an order through yelp at 7pm Labor Day and for our food quick! Got platter A but we were able to substitute 4 rolls. There were 10rolls in the platter and total was around $34 with tax. Looking at the prices of each roll that we got, it would've been JUST A taaaad bit cheaper if we ordered it separately. But it's okay! Food was great and we enjoyed every single roll. read more

This restaurant easily jumped to my favorite all you can eat sushi spot in Brooklyn! If I'm more than just a little hungry, I would opt for the $20 all you can eat deal. All you need is to get a couple special rolls and you've already eaten your moneys worth. One of my surprise favorites is Tuna Tataki. Though it's only 2 slices per order, I always have to get a couple order when I come here. Another favorite is the yuzu white tuna, which provide a tart and flavorful zest on Tuna. Initially, I was thrown off by the idea of citrus in my fish, but that's what ceviche is all about, so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did because I would opt to keep the leftover sauce for my other pieces if they wait staff weren't so attentive and cleared the plates before I had a chance to. Ninja provides a reasonable rice to ingredients ratio that doesn't bloat you too quickly. The kitchen does get a little bogged down if there are too many orders. Chikurin has been my go to sushi place on 86 street for years and even though Ninja 86 has been around for a while, I never really gave this place a fighting chance. Instead of fully committing to the AYCE, I decided to try out their lunch special sets, which consist of 3 preset rolls and 3 nigiri pieces for only $8.95! Wowza! The sets also come with a Green Salad and a Miso Soup, which is nice because many other places only let you choose one. I really wanted to like the Lunch Set here but I really don't see myself ordering it from here again. I should've expected the quality of their lunch sets to be of an AYCE quality, but I didn't think I would dislike it this much. My set included a spicy salmon roll and a spicy tuna roll and I honestly felt like I was eating play-dough. The breadcrumb to fish ratio created this moldable, wet-bread like texture, and I really couldn't make myself eat more than 1 or two pieces of their "spicy rolls". Their nigiri pieces were alright, nothing to rave about. Overall, this place is definitely AYCE sushi quality. I will be sticking to Chikurin for my lunch sets. read more

I used to sit in and eat a few times. During the pandemic, I haven't gone to any sushi until recently. Did a take out and got the DIY mix tray. Food is pretty good but then I found out there's a piece of plastic inside the eel roll. I'm not sure if the plastic came from the eel packaging. Possibly, they just cut it up and roll it in without checking. Then I went to check on another piece and found the plastic in the same eel roll. The plastic could also be from those frozen crab meat that rolled in together. The funny thing about the plastic is that there is some sort of greenish coloring on the plastic. I came here once when they first open (1 star: Terrible Experience with family- 3 hours of waiting for food with 1hr waiting for table to be seated; food barely came and seen it going to other tables) but later on I heard from my family member they had been back and it was okay. All of these orders were for lunch (6/11 for dinner) for multiple people or single person large order. I found the quality okay but there are some orders where the quality was bad (sent me to the bathroom) so I stopped ordering raw fish but cooked sushi and cooked food items (yaki udon). - 5/28 *** where I ordered Spicy 3 in 1 Roll Add Cucumber for extra $0.50 and was charged for it but no added cucumbers. Crunch was yummy, but I ate it separately as it was hard to eat it with a piece. My sister-in-law & I tried the fish tempera & calamari tempura roll (could barely tell the difference of which is which). It was fine overall, she really loved the fish tempura roll (she don't eat raw fish). - 6/2 *** Dragon Spicy Tuna Roll tasted off and I wasn't a fan of the Hermas Roll. Couldn't finish it. I think perhaps I should try it again another time but wasn't as flavorful as I imagine and tasted rather bland. Sent me to the bathroom within the hour (and didn't finish the meal) and multiple times afterward. Vegetable Yaki Udon Lunch is the same size as the dinner portion but $2 cheaper. It didn't have as much vegetables as I thought it would; it looked like just the base without the meat. - 6/8 ** 5 pieces Egg sushi; the egg tasted off and looked bad (cracked and old). - 6/11 *** ordered without the egg sushi, yaki udon noodle was mushy (overcooked) but we did enjoyed our meal. Hubby was okay with it. Overall, I wouldn't say this is my favorite place but an okay place of decent sushi. However, it was open and I supported this business during this time. I rather like IchiSushi better but I am grateful to even have sushi during this time. Also I noticed each time the inari sushi looks different (I guess it differs by sushi chef). I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. My go to orders are usually the Teriyaki set or sushi and they've never disappointed. I just ordered the Teriyaki set and it comes with a good portion of soup and salad (which comes with a nice dressing). The actual set has a good portion of chicken and rice as well as gyoza and a California roll. All for about 20 dollars! Always delicious and more than filling. My husband, my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, and I came here to eat this past Sunday, lured in by the promise of some good AYCE sushi that would compete with the popular Sake Sushi practically next-door. While I had a nice enough time of things, I really can't give this place more than 3 stars. It does some things very well but other things are... shall we say... *lacking.* First, let's review what it does well. This is a clean and decent-looking joint that gives people more elbow space and breathing room than Sake Sushi does. The big draw of the place, though, is the GREAT variety of food on the AYCE meals. Although not all the specialty rolls are included, many are, and I had fun trying a lot of them out. The mango topped lobster salad roll was *sooo* yummy and unique... I've never seen its like before! The egg/eel roll wrapped in cucumber was also great, as was the mango-topped fried shrimp roll. Plus, there were a lot of cool, interesting appetizers to try as well. The tartars alone were a nice surprise! The not so nice things... some of the sushi/rolls were really lacking and had an absurd fish-to-filler roll. A lot of the sushi came with GIANT squares of rice attached which really threw off the balance of the rolls. I don't expect giant hunks of fish in a place like this but the proportion was just not appetizing. And some of the rolls were ABSURD. Check out my picture of the "spider roll" -- it was literally about 70% diced cucumber with a smidgeon of fried eel at the bottom. Stuff like that was just not tasty to eat. If the restaurant wanted to save on money, it should just dish out some cheap appetizers (like salad + miso soup) to all customers immediately upon entry so that people can sate their stomachs before digging into the expensive fish. Instead, scrimping on the actual fish to the extent they did was just annoying. Second not-so-great part of our meal was the service. This restaurant isn't even that big and we had 2 wait-staff on call, which I thought would be enough to handle the crowd... but they were honestly just sooooo slow. Absurdly so, actually. It got to the point where the sushi-chefs literally had about 4-5 plates full of food waiting in front of them... but the wait-staff as meandering around so the plates stayed undelivered for up to 10 minutes at a time. Plus, the wait-staff was REALLY bad at coming around to refill water/tea... which would be really helpful in filling up people's appetites. IT was just annoying trying to flag them down to get our waiting plates of food or give us something to drink. And it didn't help that they kept delivering the wrong appetizers to our table either! Overall, I had mixed feelings about this restaurant. I wouldn't mind trying it again (although my husband is adamantly against the idea!) just to sample some of the better/more unique rolls and appetizers... but the wait-staff really turned me off, as did some of the cheapness regarding the fish. I give it a solid 3/5 but have to conclude that in the end, Sushi Sake is still a better deal. read more

The food is decent however the delivery driver is extremely racist. I spoke to the manager and told him the terrible encounter I had with the delivery driver and they did not care at all. It took me a few minutes to get change to tip the driver , he was screaming and demanding to "HURRY the tip", once he started doing that I then refused to tip him. He then told the manger he refuses to ever deliver to me again because I didn't tip him .... I then told the manager I was digging in my bag to get the tip and he started to demand I hurry and tip him. The manger did not care at all, when I spoke to him he asked if I was the "black girl who didn't tip" .... such a nasty way to speak to a customer especially a customer who ordered from here numerous of times and always tipped. I'm giving 3 stars because the cons outweighed the pros and I had to throw something out that paid extra for and wasn't given. However, overall the food was good regarding taste so I think we'll give it another try. See pictures: I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box for dinner and paid extra for brown rice, but was given white rice. I don't eat white rice at all so that was tossed out. For the price, the two tiny pieces of salmon aren't worth the $ as they are thinner than the width of one chop stick. The taste was really good and I really liked the way they cut the cabbage that was under the salmon. My dad ate the California roll and said it was good. For all of the sushi rolls, my husband said you can tell the fish wasn't the freshest but it was definitely edible and didn't make him say "yuck". He just didn't like that the sushi was hot which I would agree with (they packed all the soups on top of the sushi). My daughter who is super picky really liked the avocado roll and the noodles from the udon soup. One thing I will say was really appreciated was that they poked holes in the lid of the tempura container that came with the bento dinner. It keeps the tempura crispy which is great. The shrimp dumpling soup was also pretty good and nothing to complain about there. Overall the price was very fair and the food was good but I really can't believe how little of the salmon was given for the price and that I paid for brown rice and was given white rice. We got our delivery today and unfortunately the soap spilled all over the sushi as it was kinda gross. We called them and told them what happened and right away the guy apologizes and says, we will make a new order right away and send it to you and we are sorry. I understand stuff happens but it's what a business does to fix the problem which make a whole difference. There customer service is so on point that I had to write a review. Pretty solid sushi place. I haven't been to the actual restaurant but did order delivery. The delivery came within 45 minutes since I ordered which is pretty fast considering it's about 10-15 minutes away by car from my place. Anyways, I got the sushi lunch set along with a pork katsu lunch set. Everything ended up being less than $20 (including tip/tax). AND I got soooooo much food. I had 2 salads, 2 miso soups, the sushi and the pork katsu also came with rice. Really great and affordable lunch deals. read more

It's affordable sushi like many other sushi restaurants in the area; the quality and freshness of the fish was just lacking though considering it's at the same price point. I'd rather go to my usual sushi spots in the area. We also ordered udon as well and the soup flavor was very light, in a non traditional way; it may have tasted more like a Chinese soup to me. I guess it's good that it wasn't full of msg? Anyway, everything came out quickly as ordered. The interior looks newly renovated and it's pretty spacious. The service here is pretty good. Anyway, I passed it this morning and noticed that they've joined the All You Can Eat club that a lot of the places on 86th have. The Shumai is a must. It came to the table delicately crispy outside and tender inside and actually got to the table HOT. The sushi here is decently fresh for the price, the staff (front desk/delivery driver) are super friendly. If anything ever goes wrong with my order, they're top notch about fixing it up. While the food here is no different than that at any of its competitors located literally footsteps away, what it lacks in taste and uniqueness it makes up for in price. One of the lunch specials here is 3 rolls and a miso soup/salad for $8. That's insane! AND they have a 10% off grand opening discount going on right now. The sushi obviously isn't high quality but it definitely met my (super low) expectations and I was full after only eating 2 of the rolls. Service was also very quick, obviously a plus. RATING: 3 STARS I like the idea of all-you-can-eat sushi but quality is almost always sacrificed for quantity, and it's always a battle of eating your money's worth. So, for me, it's like a love-hate relationship: I love the options offered for the price but I hate how much I feel the need to overstuff myself as well as the priority of quality over quantity. So this review comes from someone who does not go to AYCE sushi restaurants regularly. I would say I go to them a few times a year, at most. When I came with my pops and bro on a Saturday afternoon, there were only a few tables filled. We were promptly seated and they gave us some menus and some tea. They would also refill our cups when it was half-way empty. Service is fair. The place is also not too big and not too small. For reference, it is more spacious than Sake. No one is bumping shoulders with the next table so that is a relief. For the three of us, we ordered: - jalapeno bomb, salmon special appetizer, spicy tuna boat, yuzu white tuna, and golden salmon (all the sushi bar appetizers) - seaweed salad - kani salad - edamame - tuna, white tuna, fluke, eel, red snapper, and masago (we got 3-5 pieces of each) - approx. 8-10 rolls (it was awhile ago so I forgot exactly how many) Suffice to say, we were super full by the end of the meal. Food was decent, but one thing we all thought was that the sushi rice didn't taste that good. We agreed that the sushi rice I make at home tasted better that what we had at the restaurant. Perhaps it just wasn't a good day for the sushi rice? Anyway, that was why I docked off a star. The rice makes up half of the sushi, so when the rice is off, it's hard to overlook it and enjoy the rest of the ingredients. However, I do want to note that the ingredient-to-rice ratio was not bad. I know that other places like to give a big slab of rice and a teeny piece of fish and serve it as sushi but this place didn't do that, so that was a plus. For AYCE sushi places, my pops and I like to see if they offer mackerel because that is personally our favorite nigiri. Unfortunately, it's only offered for dinner and not lunch, so we were sad. For AYCE lunch, $14 per person was worth the quantity. But, when the quality is also taken into account as well as our poor sushi rice experience, then we would rather take our money elsewhere. BOTTOM LINE: This would be a great AYCE sushi place for groups of teenagers and broke college students to gorge at and chill, but personally, we would not come back again. read more
