I enjoyed the strawberry matcha! At first looking at the ratio, it looks like there is way more strawberry than matcha. But once it settles and seeps in, the ratio looks half and half. There is a bit of strawberry jam at the bottom but I wish there was a tad more than what they put. I didn't even notice it at first. It was delicious and creamy but could probably be a bit creamier if I got regular milk. I usually sub for almond milk so my drinks aren't always the creamiest. I love the bright and bold green color of the matcha! After mixing it, the overall color becomes a super light green. I'd love to try the regular matcha latte next time. Service was quick with the baristas working efficiently and quickly behind the counter. You can watch them whisk matcha as well out in the open.
We were excited for the concept but ended up with a disappointing experience. When we first walked in there was a weird sewer smell. Not sure where it's coming from as it wasn't as bad towards the back which is where their bathroom is. The ordering was also odd. The staff didn't greet us nor were they helpful navigating the menu which could use more pictures and graphic design help. They didn't tell us they were out of level 3 or 4 till after we ordered. The menu mentions a small pint and large pint. A pint is a standard unit of measurement. You can't have a small or large version. The counter has the containers labeled regular and large. "Large" seems like an actual pint. While the desserts were decent they were overpriced. Since we didn't get to try level 3 or 4, the level 2 wasn't much different than what you could get elsewhere with out the sewer smell.
This location is right off the freeway, on Bellaire Street. Once you enter the parking lot, it's on the first floor, the end cap of the building. Ninja Matcha is family-owned by "Charles" and he began this business in 2018 with his wife and children. Charles is educated on the Japanese style of refined, Matcha taste. As I sat with Charles, his intention was to curate flavors that cater to a refined taste for Matcha. Thus, Ninja Matcha offers Matcha levels 1, 2 or 3 for beginners through long term Matcha addicts . The menu items include Matcha ice creams, milk teas and desserts. This is the real deal folks! The flavored syrups are home made, therefore you NEED to tell them "Level of Sweetness" otherwise, it will be too sweet. I hardly like sugar, so 20-30% sweetness is enough, while 50% is too much for me. ACCOMMODATIONS are made upon request, "easy ice", "sweetness level". "Matcha strength level" and "milk option (oat, almond, whole milk). We were finally content to find an authentic, true Asian, Matcha tea place where you can sit with a friend and catch up. I had the Mango Matcha and my 14 year old son had the Hojicho Coconut. It was well blended and tasty! Charles shared that he has also been training some employees, therefore if your Matcha is not to your taste, let him know your preference. Prices are affordable and there's no discrimination, they take all paying customers of CASH or CREDIT. Restroom is for Patron Customers and while I was there, it was clean. We sat comfortably and there was no smell that we noticed. I am assuming those who mentioned it came when there was heavy rains.
Solid dessert option in Chinatown, especially for matcha lovers. The menu features everything from ice cream to lattes to milk teas.. and I like how you can choose levels of matcha intensity (aka how much do you not want to sleep tonight lol) Service was efficient and spacious interior with a decent amount tables. Parking can be a pain depending on what time and day you go to this plaza. (Weekends in Chinatown will definitely put your driving patience to the test) I got a custom mango matcha latte and also tried out my friends' soft serve and ice cream. All are pretty solid with a good amount of sweetness. The cleanliness of the restaurant was a bit sloppy, there was a weird smell when we sat down and the bathrooms weren't maintained as well. Overall a good option in Chinatown for dessert in a competitive area. Good stop to satisfy your matcha cravings.
I heard a lot about this place and was excited to finally try it after passing by many times. I was sadly disappointed by the quality of the drink. I might return to order something else and give it another try, but I figured the matcha latte would be a classic to start with. The matcha latte I received tasted diluted, and it wasn't as smooth as expected. Another thing I noticed other reviews mentioned, and something I noticed immediately as I walked in, there is a bathroom/sewage smell. It had rained a little bit that night so it might be the rain, but it still smelled pretty bad inside. The service was good and helpful, and there were a fair amount of seats available for a Saturday night. However, in summary, for a place that focuses on matcha, I was expecting more.
Sad to say that this place has gone way down hill. We came on a Saturday after lunch around 12:30 and ordered an iced oat milk matcha latte. I asked the cashier if they had oat milk before I ordered, and he said yes. I ordered and paid, he turns around and says, oh...we don't have anymore oat milk to his coworker. So he comes to me and asks me if I would like soy or almond. I ended up just getting whole milk and put in matcha boba topping instead, for the same price of alternative milk. The drink looked amazing, but the matcha tasted weak and cheap. I'm not sure what brand of matcha they use but for being a dedicated matcha place, I would have expected higher quality. The matcha was dull, to put it kindly. The bathrooms were not maintained at all. It was dirty and unkept. So disappointing that it seems like this place has gone downhill.
ORDER Matcha shaved ice with Matcha jelly and Matcha Boba - super yummy with great Matcha flavored throughout the shaved ice. My family really liked their jelly and the Boba. The soft serve is also very delicious and creamy with good matcha flavor. Iced Matcha Latte - Great strong matcha flavor with good ratios of milk to matcha. It wasn't too sweet as well, so absolutely delicious!! VIBES Crowded on a Saturday night with some people studying and families enjoying matcha! Cute art around the interior and decently clean! SERVICE Service is great! Quick and nice!
Great dessert place for matcha lovers that is also open late! We got the Matcha shaved ice, which also came with soft. Serve ice cream and two free toppings. The shaved ice had a strong matcha flavor, so it tasted great both frozen and slightly melted. We got the soft serve as a vanilla and Matcha swirl. It was very creamy and rich just the way we like it. They have a number of dessert options, including ice cream with three different strengths of Matcha. They also have a number of Matcha based drinks. Plenty of indoor seating and free parking in the complex. The service is counter service, but efficient and friendly. We love the dog murals, which were absolutely adorable in the store.
I came in after lunch and was quite skeptical but hopeful seeing the menu, I just ordered the iced matcha latte and it was so GOOD. I'm honestly quite surprised the ratings are on the lower end. The worker was nice about helping with choosing my options and my drink out very quick. The store is spacious making it a great space to hang out :)

Location is convenient because it is in the Dun Huang Plaza. Very cute dog and cat mural and there are games you can play. (3/5): LEVEL 2 MATCHA ICE-CREAM: We originally wanted the level 3 but they ran out for that evening so we went with level 2. It had a balance of bitterness and good matcha flavor. My friend said she was glad we went with 2 because level 3 might have been too bitter for her. (3/5): MECCHA 8 PARFAIT: There's a lot going on in this parfait. I wished they used a wider container because reaching down to the different layers were tricky. I was worried about spillage the whole time. Individually each element was good but all together it didn't quite harmonize. The MATCHA JELLY and RED BEAN were warm causing the soft serve to melt even faster. I'm all for a hot/cold combination but it didn't work for this dessert. The evening we went there was only 2 employees. It did take a bit of time for the parfait to come out because of the different toppings. Overall it was good but compared to other soft-serve locations in the plaza it didn't impress. There was another similar concept opened previously and I preferred that one. read more

Today was the grand opening so I was expecting the line to go out the door! As a result, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a 15 min wait in line and 5 min wait for the order. Selection:5 There is more variety in the selection for this cafe compared to the other matcha cafe. They have more flavor combinations (ex. Lavender Matcha), different levels of matcha, etc. If the other matcha location was to bitter for you this location will probably be better because the taste is more subtle. Matcha Float: 3.5 I had the matcha float with Matcha Icecream level 2. At first it didn't work for me because I didn't like how there were ice crystals in the ice cream and that both were a bit bland. However, once the icecream melted into the ice matcha it was perfect! However, they added to much ice which made it more like a matcha drink with ice cream on top instead of a traditional float. Where the drink mixes with the icecream. Lavender Matcha: 5 The flavor was amazing! It was really clean and I could drink it up in less than a minute. The cashier said that they prepare the lavender at the store and they don't use dried lavender. Roasted Matcha Ice-cream soft serve: 4 It was less bitter then the one at the other matcha location but it's still really good. I would get this one instead of one of their Matcha ice cream because it's really smooth and the matcha comes out well. If you are not a fan of bitter Matcha I would suggest this cafe over the other. However, if you want that strong matcha flavor I would go to the other one. I think their menu is a hit or miss so it more of a 3.75 read more

The options here are a little pricy but it sure has some unique things to offer. I really loved their matcha ice cream. I'm curious to get one of their cake lives that costs over 20 bucks to actually see if it's worth it. One of these days! read more

I came here with my family expecting to try the matcha millie crepe cake. But they didn't have it. They didn't have any of the cakes. I was very disappointed. Family ordered some other matcha drinks and other desserts and it was good. Nice ambiance. Restroom - no soap. Paper towel dispenser were not restocked. read more
Originally meccha matcha and now it's ninja matcha. I came here because I saw their yuzu ice drink and wanted to give it a try, but I ended up getting distracted and ordering other things. PASSION FRUIT MILLE CREPE CAKE I really liked the smooth, soft creaminess of this cake. The cake was the perfect consistency and texture. The passion fruit could've been more spread out between the layers because it was mostly on the top of the cake and just really cream was in between the layers. I didn't taste any passion fruit if I didn't have a piece of the top layer. MATCHA SUMMER- matcha, strawberry, and sparkling This drink was good. I liked the matcha flavor, but didn't taste much of the strawberry. It was earthy, but not too bitter. HOJICHA CHAI- hojicha, honey, and cinnamon I always loved chai; so I had to give this drink a try. I could taste the cinnamon and the gritty hojicha, but this drink was a bit too watery for my liking. I wanted something a bit thicker. YUZU ANGEL- yuzu, sparkling, and chia seed I really liked this drink. It was very refreshing. The yuzu was citric and the chia seeds added a good texture to the light drink. I'll be coming back to try that icy yuzu drink and to order other things on their menu. Solid 3.5 stars. read more

Came to this place when it opened on Saturday. It was pleasantly not packed at all. I ordered the Matcha Summer drink and loved it! It has just the right amount of matcha, not too sweet at all. I couldn't really taste much of the strawberry in it, but it was still refreshingly good. I also tried the Hojicha Cacao and it was very toasty. If you like expresso or even dark chocolates, this is the drink for you. Would def order both again! Customer service was great! Guy there answered our questions and made our drinks in a timely manner. The place is also very clean and nicely decorated for those social media photo ops. I plan to go back to try more and will update. read more

This was a nifty little place at the corner of the strip in the plaza. I know it's a matcha place but I ordered a hojicha cacao, I mean it was on the recommended list. My wife ordered a matcha summer so I tasted hers. I just wanted to try something a bit different. My drink was very tasty and the chia seeds added a good texture to the drink as I drank it. It had a roasted green tea type flavor (which is exactly how the employee described it), but also like a chocolate flavor. Well duh cacao! The matcha drink had a strong matcha taste if that's what you like versus a matcha with more sweet flavor. The decor inside was pleasant. The picture of the animals were fun to look at, especially if you own a dog or cat. The employee was very nice when we asked questions and said to have a nice day when we left. I don't know about you but comments like that are pleasant from a customer stand point. read more

I love matcha. I loved my soft serve. I will be back to try the different levels of matcha ice cream. They let me sample level 3, man it was strong and delicious. Only matcha lovers will get it. I am coming back for level 3! read more

It was not easy to pick up one cafe in this competitive Asian area. I liked the name: Ninja Matcha". This was a very catchy name. Actually, it caught me. This tea house was saying " the matcha is healthy". Ninja matcha was sufficiently differentiated from other tea houses. I entered inside. A lady had ice cream, iced tea, and other matcha drinks. I ordered regular iced matcha for around $5. The tea was good. The inside was quiet. It was literally a zen moment. You know, in Japan, zen monks loved matcha. I was not sure if the matcha was really healthy because she put a lot of ingredients. I saw azuki beans and honey. It made me consume 300 calories at least. The healthy way to drink matcha is to put the powder with hot water in the tea cup! read more

I am pretty disappointment at the way the matcha tasted. I tried the soft serve matcha and it literally taste like almost a vanilla soft serve. I think its lacking the matcha taste... or maybe I didn't ordered correctly? They did not ask what level so I assume by default that it will taste like matcha. I spent close to 40$ and every drink I tasted, lack the matcha taste that I love. Place is OK. read more

The insane variety of so many matcha items, it was love at first sight! I love matcha and green tea related anything so when I saw this place I chose this over boba! I got their Ice blended matcha drink (essentially a matcha Frappuccino) and I added mochi to my drink as a topping. My friend orders the mixed soft serve (half vanilla and half matcha). Both were very tasty and reasonably priced! read more

Walking in I was friendly greeted. There was so many options to choose from so the cashier suggested some favorites. Can't go wrong with a vanilla soft serve and we also got the Shaved Ice Bowl that comes with shaved ice with matcha soft serve, red beans and mochi balls. The bowl is big enough for two to share and so delish. You can also decided on the levels of matcha. Level 1, 2 or 3. I went for 2. Can't wait to come back and try their Matcha 8 parfait. read more

Honestly was so excited to try this but it wasn't good at all. Got 100% sweeten which wasn't the problem but it was the matcha powder itself. Tasted poor quality, guessing not ceremonial grade. Oat milk used is planet oat! Overall would not go back! Still looking for best matcha in Houston. read more

I hadn't had the pleasure of visiting a specialty matcha dessert shop until Meccha. I really wanted the ice cream parfait but I am not a fan of soft serve. Not a problem, they let me choose one of the hard scoop varieties for the parfait. The top of the line ice cream with the most matcha content had a great creamy texture and strong matcha presence. The perfect choice if you were to have it on it's own. My sister ordered a cup of this and we asked the cashier what small topping for texture would go well. She said "I like to eat my matcha with chocolate" which apparently means a matcha white chocolate paw print. I decided to do a lower level of matcha ice cream for my parfait, level 2. The parfait was really great, lots of texture from the jellies, beans and matcha. read more

This is the best matcha dessert place in Bellaire! I've tried others that lack matcha flavor, are bitter, or just overall underwhelming but this place does matcha right. I got the matcha shaved ice which came with matcha soft serve, shaved ice with matcha syrup, mochi, and matcha jelly on the side. The shaved ice and soft serve were great - not too sweet and with a strong matcha flavor! The matcha jelly was a great addition too, but I would not get the mochi again because it was hard and tasteless. This dessert is definitely big enough to share between 2-3 people. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get their matcha fix or an after-dinner treat in Bellaire! read more
Scrumptious! The matcha soft serve is thick and creamy. You will definitely appreciate the taste of quality matcha. I tasted more of the matcha tea flavor than the added sweetness, it makes me feel like I'm drinking a cup of healthy matcha, so good for my body. read more
Came here on a Sat. night to try their ice cream. They have 3 different intensities: Level 1 Matcha Ice Cream, 25% matcha; Level 2 Matcha Ice Cream, 38% matcha; Level 3 Matcha Ice Cream, 55% matcha. Their lowest one tastes similar to all the matcha I've had elsewhere, so I can guess that their "strongest" one is probably a lot more concentrated than your usual garden-variety matcha ice cream. Upon review of their website, they confirm their Level 3 is the strongest matcha in the country! Service is good but not spectacular. The cafe has cutesy wall art too. read more

This recently opened new matcha place opened a couple of weeks ago and is in direct competition with Matcha Cafe Maiko down the street. The menu consist of all matcha flavored deserts including soft-serve icecream, latte's, shaved iced. etc. I ordered to soft-serve match ice-cream for $5. I think the taste was good, but it wasn't out of this world or anything different from other matcha flavored places. The reason I am giving 4 stars is because I can't justify an icecream cone for $5. read more

Good for studying (at least on the weekday!) The food is kind of over priced in my opinion but it's worth for the cleanliness and the cute decor! Their hojicha soft serve is pretty good but I think I prefer the other Matcha place in chinatown. The shaved ice was pretty good too and it was nice to share. I do NOT recommend the lavender matcha latte... it wasn't horrible but the flavors don't really mesh well together. read more

I love this cute cute cute place! If you're a matcha fanatic, you've found your place! Their menu offers so many delectable matcha (and hojicha) treats. If you're a pet lover, you've found your place as well! The owner is apparently a cat and dog lover too, as evidenced by the uber adorable mural wall and the several cat / dog themed books lying around. The staff is cheery and friendly as well! My friend and I gorged ourselves on: - Level 3 matcha ice cream scoop: this is the real deal if you want strong, bitter matcha. The flavor is super pronounced and refreshing - I'm in love! The texture of the ice cream is comparable to store-bought Maeda-en ice cream, which is still good in my book. I wish they had level 3 flavor for soft serve too! - Black sesame shaved ice with matcha/hojicha swirl soft serve: This dessert has so many components. The soft serve is sweet and milky but still has a lot of tea flavor. The hojicha is more bitter, with actual flecks of tea leaves. The bingsu part is just sweet, milky ice with a thick drizzle of black sesame sauce that's not too sweet. Toppings include sweet red bean and tang yuan (chewy rice flour balls). I love that this dessert isn't too sweet, which makes it pretty easy to down! I had a great time here and will be back to try their other desserts! Same here a couple times and I like this place better than Matcha Maiko. The matcha here is slightly more deep in flavor and prominent. I've had the matcha latte, matcha strawberry latte, matcha ice cream and matcha crepe and all were good. Slightly upset that out of all the times I've been here, they never have any other crepe flavors on the menu available. read more

Matcha Toast: has matcha spread on it, which tastes somewhat similar to nutella spread, and it also contains chewy balls. Matcha Soft serve with black sesame: tastes like vanilla and matcha and has a very gritty texture. read more
I had a matcha soft-serve last week in LA and wanted to try a hojicha soft serve today. But they only had matcha and vanilla so naturally I tried one in a cup. It was $4.95 plus tax and I couldn't taste any matcha at all. I find the soft serve not smooth as it's too icy. In addition, it's hollow in the middle so definitely not worth it. Will be trying other soft serve places in Houston as there's plenty! Disappointing! read more
When you're too hoochi hoji...Even when I was Houston, I had to go find a Matcha place that serves hojicha. I enjoyed the hoji soft serve. Standard price but hot diggity...the soft serve was a a lot bigger than what I normally get in SF. I wasn't complaining but I have to say the hoji flavor was more on the faint side. It wasn't bad but it wasn't on par to the quality that I was expecting or used to. But, a bonus was, I got yummy matcha chocolate with my soft serve and it was delish! The cartoon on the wall was a bonus! Freaking stinking cute! read more

Yay new matcha place in town! I got yuzu blended float. It is refreshing, tasted sweet n sour. The matcha float is not as sweet as other matcha place nearby. They also have levels of matcha. The wall art is pretty cute :) read more
