Picked up some sushi from Ninja Sushi in West Ridge. My order included a Superman Roll... it's one of their specialties and one of their party sets. I don't remember the name of the set, but it included a Tiger Roll, hamachi, salmon, unagi and ahi nigiri as well as some other items. All the nigiri items were generous and fresh. Unfortunately, I can't rate this place more than one star. After eating only sushi for the day, I became extremely ill shortly thereafter. I vomitted multiple times, experienced nausea and an upset stomach for a few consecutive days, developed a fever, etc. Before eating, my husband remarked that the fish didn't look fresh. I guess, I should have listened to him and not ate it. In hindsight, the tiger maki tasted a little off. Also, although good, I noticed that the poke salad was prepared differently compared to past photos from a different location. To top it off, there was a bit of a wait to get my order completed even though it was empty. The guy who came in about five minutes after me and placed an order in the restaurant got his food before me, which wasn't a big deal at the time. However, be it as I got sick from eating here, the wait time sure feels amplified now. On the upside, portions are generous. Regardless, I think, I'll just stick to the location near the airport from now on (my usual go-to ninja). I never got food poisoning there! I love sushi and have eaten at nearly every sushi stop I've seen in Aiea. Family visiting had promised their eight year old daughter they would have sushi while here. Enter her cousin Keith...we should go to Ninja Sushi because they have a lot of non-sushi item that they can eat since the mom really didn't want sushi. I didn't expect much and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered three plates of nigiri sushi and a six pack of shrimp shumai to share. First, If the fish got sliced any thinner it would have been invisible and was not anywhere close to fresh.....maybe three or four days before it was frozen. Both the Hamachi and the Salmon were tasteless and watery. Thought I couldn't go wrong with the Spicy Ahi but wrong again. Ahi mashed to nearly a paste was texturally a mess and I really thought it could get any worse. Enter the Shrimp Shumai. Seriously this was flavorless fishcake stuffed into a wonton wrapper with a mini shrimp pasted on top. The rolls ordered for the table were covered with sauce and unappetizing. The Tempura veggies were a flat pancake style patty and left mostly uneaten. I'll leave this place to the Yelpers who seem to enjoy this type of sushi as I won't return for an encore. I am a fan of Ninja Sushi, but each location is run differently. What you might find at one, you might not find at another. Oh, and be warned...if you like a particular kind of roll at one location, it might not taste the same at another. This place doesn't offer the freshest high quality sushi that some might want, but it's affordable and still tasty (in my opinion). My usual order from Ninja Sushi would be the Superman (a spicy ahi roll, topped with fresh ahi, yummy crispies, green onions, and unagi sauce). However, on this particular visit, I thought I would change it up a bit. I tried the Tiger Roll (shrimp tempura and crab inside the roll and topped with spicy ahi). While the Tiger Roll was decent, I think I will stick to my Superman from now on. They never let me down with the Superman. The menu is plentiful, so if you've never been here before, it may take you some time to figure out what you want. There's a separate menu on the side that explains what is in each type of roll. This location is special in that they have big plastic cups (so big that the straw doesn't even stick out from it) on the side that you can fill with water from the fountain drinks machine. Also, there is a hot tea machine that you can frequent as often as you'd like. Customer service was pretty good. They welcome you when you come in, bring the food to you when it's ready, and say goodbye when you leave. You can leave your dishes on the table and they will clean it up for you. read more

I had no idea this sushi spot was a five minute drive from me, nestled in the outlets close to 7-11, we were trying to find a quick sushi spot before the Common Kings concert and we decided to take a chance on this place. Lots of menu items but the owner told us the most popular is the tiger roll and superman roll, we also decided to get the sunset roll with it also. They also have free hot tea which is so good with a sushi meal, its barley tea which is something my Korean mom would always make me so I felt at home. We actually didn't wait long for sushi and I was very surprised by the quality of sushi we received, our three rolls were huge and not small like most fast sushi places, tempura shrimp was crispy and big in the roll, the tuna had the perfect amount of sauce and crunchy toppings, my favorite roll had to be the superman roll, it had spicy tuna on the inside with slices of tuna on top with green onion and crunchy toppings drizzled with eel sauce, it hit the spot! Just finished shopping at pearl ridge and wanted to get some sushi for a light dinner. Nothing looked interesting at the food court so figured I check out Ninja sushi, stuck in my mind cuz passed by it before I went to pearlridge phase 1. Located at westridge shopping center, right accross the mall, bed bath and beyond, right below Tony Roma's. plenty of parking but it's late afternoon, after work, on a weekday. Been to other restaurants there and when they get busy, parking is a pain. Cute little sushi restaurant. Decor is colorful and modern. Was empty and I was the only one there, like I said it was right after work so this is the slow time. I was greeted promptly as I walked in. Clean and organized. Did not see anything out of order. They had K-pop music playing in the background, wish I could understand cuz it was in Korean. Didn't bother me cuz music was nice. The menu is vast, very hard to choose. They sell bentos, and tea drinks too. They had signs all over the place for a new sushi, the green dragon. So of course I ordered it and kalbi with chicken bento. The sushi did not disappoint! Was tasty good. The flavors really meshed, this is a winnah. Their Bento was huge with sushi on side. You can see the quality of the food and how it was presented. You don't go to a chain sushi spot and expect fish straight from the auction block. I rate this particular Ninja Sushi at 5 starts because their food is consistent and the lady that works there (I believe she is the owner?) is the sweetest person and always remembers us. I've been coming here off and on over the years, but my daughter absolutely loves visiting this location and is always happy with the shrimp tempura udon that she orders every single time. We're hoping that they will persevere through this pandemic and be around for many more years. read more

I really hate to leave bad feedback for an independent business, especially during a pandemic, but I just ate here was thought it was horrible. The worst thing was how dirty this place was. I've been to other Ninja Sushi's (it's a franchise), and was always happy with their cleanliness. This place was just so nasty; there was food splattered on the walls, on the floor, and the table was sticky. I was totally not comfortable eating there. There were plastic displays near the table, containing photos of food, and it looked like a toddler with sticky fingers smeared his hands all over them. There was little bits of food stuck to them (see photos). There were metal poles holding up these plastic signs, and they were coated with food and starting to rust, it was so disgusting. All it takes is someone to go around with a bottle of Windex and clean them, people. And honestly, this place has been mostly closed for 6 months, some places were entirely closed down for weeks, and no one could find the time to clean this place? The table was sticking to my arms, and there were pieces of formica peeling off. On the side of the table there was a "gap" running around the outside edge, and it had pieces of food on it. There was black "gunk" stuck top the formica...I felt nauseous sitting there. I have to wonder if the corporate HQ for Ninja Sushi ever checks up on these franchisees or inspects them? The wall next to us was plastic/formica, and it was splattered with soy sauce or something, looks like someone had a food fight at the table. Just so you know I'm not being a jerk, I only hold these places to my own standard, and if I owned this place, I would NEVER allow my place to get so filthy and dirty. If the outside seating area was this nasty, I don't want to imagine what it was like in the kitchen. Regarding the food, I ordered Unagi sashimi, and it came to the table ice cold, as if it had just come out of the refrigerator. Isn't it supposed to be warm, just heated/cooked? I've never had it so cold before. I had to wonder if it was prepared in advance and put in a refrigerator. My friend had a Dragon Roll which was "alright", but the pieces were huge (mostly rice). I guess some people like this, but i prefer better tasting small pieces than just huge pieces of mediocre. I read some other reviews here saying the same thing about the cleanliness issues, some had food poisoning, etc, so I guess I'm not alone in thinking this place needs to be cleaned up. This is one problem I have with franchises; they get a popular name, but then proceed to lower their standards. I've been in cheap cafeteria-style restaurants in inner-city Manila and cities in China that were cleaner, more hygenic and had better tasting food than this place. I also thought it was a bit funny when the owner gave me the receipt to sign and there was a line for the tip. I'm sorry, but tips are earned. I just walked up to the counter and placed my order, which I haven't seen or eaten yet. It's a little presumptuous to expect a tip when I just walked in. Tips are for extra service, ie a server going out of their way to do something for you. Seeing as how the owner doesn't even clean the walls of her own business, don't look for a tip. I really try to support local businesses and show Aloha, but there is no reason for this place to be as filthy as it is. It doesn't take a lot of work to wipe the walls and tables, people. Its quick and cheap. The fast food of sushi. Like 99% of people that live here in Hawaii, I love sushi. We all know there's plenty of places here on the island but if you want it quick; come here. It's help that I like the name. Anyway I like the fact that the menu is a large display board. Just stand in line, look what you want and order. Also be aware there is usually one of those black boards with high lighted marker writing that tells you the daily specials. I think they change those every week. Wait what daily special????!! Ooh well. Food was ok. I got the dynamite dishes and the top was little more burnt then usual. The person making my dish I think was in training because there was someone telling him how to make it and how to use the blow torch. This is a great place to get a quick sushi fix. I got the spicy hot udon. I loved the soup base and the udon noodles. I love all things soup. Seriously, though this was a great dish on a rainy and windy night. I asked what they meant by spicy (like is it a special homemade recipe?) but when I saw them squeeze sriracha, I was like okay. Doesn't matter to me, but it would be a nice touch if they made their own spicy soup base. Nice and clean interior. Some cute animated designs on the walls. Pretty slow for dinner time. We've been on a sushi kick and I like the varieties here. There are a lot of options, Nigiri, Maki, Temaki and salad too. I like their T-Dragon Maki the best while my sister likes the Superman Maki. The tornado Maki is also good, just a tad bit spicy for my liking. I've had better Takoyaki but the one here is pretty good. Prices are reasonable. Service is not bad. I thought I'd start my return on Yelp with a place I absolutely, positively LOVE. Hands down, this is the BEST Ninja Sushi you'll ever encounter. All, right so I might be just a little biased since I am a regular and get VIP treatment (hehe), but even if I wasn't, I'd love them no less. While I was pregnant, I came every Saturday after I finished work. Same order, same time. A Spicy Ahi Donburi for the bf, and a Tempura Maki (shrimp tempura, imitation crab, and cucumber) with unagi sauce on the side for myself, sometimes a Kal-bi Handroll. Two times, and I became a regular. When I could eat raw fish frequently again, my sister told me to get the Tiger Maki, which is the Tempura Maki, with their spicy ahi on the top. I met a friend for lunch here recently, and she got the Superman, which is currently my favorite. A spicy ahi roll, topped with fresh ahi, potato crispies, green onion, and unagi sauce... SO good! And how can you not love something named Superman?! You know it's gotta be awesome! You could probably point to anything on the menu and it will be totemo oishii desu (very delicious). I normally don't get nigiri here, but the three pieces you get will definitely be loaded. The picture of the garlic salmon was calling me, and it's like Genki's Onion Salmon (one of my faves), but with a garlic and unagi sauce. (Note: Unagi sauce is quite prevalent in many of their items, so if you don't like it, just ask for none!) My bf's sister turned me onto the Ebi Tempura Nigiri, fried shrimp tempura topped with unagi sauce (see, told you), wrapped with a thin piece of nori. I'm also a fan of their Ahi Poke, made to order and NO limu! (Blech, I hate limu!) With an extensive menu featuring Nigiri, Temaki, Donburi, Makizushi, Udon, Salad, and Combination Bento, you're sure to find something to please even the pickiest eater. read more

When I was asking him a question about one of the bento sets he responded with a "yeah" that had attitude with it and he also didnt look at me or acknowledge me when I was talking. never gonna come back because i cant stand disrespectful people. Came here to get take out because my girls were at gymnastics and it was lunch time. It was our first time here so we took our time looking at the menu. If you are more of a visual person like I am, they have pictures along with the names of the different items that they serve in the front. Closer to the register is a laminated paper that gives a description of what is in the different rolls such as the hawaiian or the tornado. They have a new item called the Green dragon which I decided to try. (See pic for description) The hubby got their tonkatsu ninja pac, while we got our girls the udon. I enjoyed my roll. Though like most sushi places I've been to, they do pack on the sauce. I tried my hubby's tonkatsu, and although the flavor was there, he didn't appreciate so much sauce on his chicken. It may have been best if it was left on the side so that the customer had the choice of how much (or little) they wanted on their food. Their udon was your typical udon. That dashi tho---SALTY! It could use just a tad more water and it would be fine. Also, halfway through my daughter eating her udon, I looked down and saw something strange (and brown) floating in her soup. I found that quite odd since it was only suppoeed to be just the noodles and seaweed. IT WAS A PIECE OF PLASTIC! I was so disgusted, I mean, who knows where it came from?! Today at Ninja Sushi, I experienced a uniquely Yelp situation. As our sushi rolls were served, I was taking pictures of them (as I do) and one of my dining partners explained to the server, "You're going to wind up on Yelp later." I was mortified! I gave my friend stink-eye and told him, "You shouldn't have said that. It may affect the service we receive." Did it? I don't know. But just a few minutes later the server came back by and asked, "Do any of you need anything?" At this, I gave my overly enthusiastic friend a knowing glance and he looked downward in shame. Ninja Sushi makes some pretty spectacular sushi rolls. One roll is big enough to make a meal for most people. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. Unlike the Ninja Sushi by the Airport, getting a lunchtime table at this one rarely seems to be a challenge. That is in part because the dining room is bigger and in part due to fewer diners. On paper Ninja Sushi looks great. I cannot quite put my finger on why I do not get excited about eating there. Maybe it's that I like to mix up my sushi selections, and at Ninja Sushi I always get one roll as my entire meal. Doing this provides me with a big enough meal but not enough variety, I think. read more

Love this place. The lady there is so generous and caring. Always putting a little extra and making sure we have enough utensils, soy sauce, wasabi and napkins. Love that you can order/pay online and pick it up. Don't know why all other businesses don't follow suit or at least let you text your order in because it is such a nightmare to try to give your order to someone over the phone when their restaurant is so noisy. The food is great here. Love their udon! The fish is fresh and the rice is perfect. The price is really affordable as well. My only suggestion would be to get rid of the egg sushi in the platter. read more

I had the shrimp tempura nigiri, the scallop mayo and miso soup.....the shrimp were really small and flat and fried to a crisp....the scallop mayo was drenched in mayo (ughhhh) and not very good mayo at that!....I couldn't even finish the miso soup...it had a bleach smell/taste.... This is my go to sushi place on the go. It's located on the bottom floor of Westridge where the florist used to be located. You can dine in, they have tables and booths with hot tea. I believe when they originally opened it was a conveyer belt eat in type of sushi place like Genki but quickly converted to take out it dine in sushi to order. It is a very spacious and clean place. The owner is an older korean lady whose very nice. I've been coming here almost once a week for the last fee months and the lady recognized me tonight and guessed my order. Most of the time I get the udon combo bento so I get a little of everything. She's very friendly. Very yummy sushi. They have unique rolls like the lion maki or tiger maki which is a must try. Kids sets are cute and good for a snack for even adults! The spam musubi one is my favorite. I am a bit sad, they discontinued the tobiko temaki hand roll but they will still make it for you. They are always trying out new menu items. They sell Bubbies mochi ice cream too. Friendly service and great sushi. What more can you ask for? Maybe cheaper prices? Yesterday I ordered from them online however, they called me and told me they were out of udon and ika rings. I cancelled the order because my boyfriend really wanted udon. Today I called them and explained to them I had already paid and if it was possible to get a refund. Instead the lady told me they got a restock on udon and ika rings today and I could pick it up when I wanted to. She was so kind and accommodating !!! I've been to other locations and this location, by far, makes the best "Spicy Ahi Donburi"! The consistency of the spicy ahi mix varies slightly from time to time, but it is ALWAYS a winner! I also love the fact that the "spicy" isn't lethal hot. The owner/manager is always friendly and even waves hi from the back of the store. She sometimes gives regular's a "little extra" and I discovered this by talking to other regular's. I guess it's something that shouldn't be expected, but it certainly is a treat to see a couple extra pieces. :) I give it 5 stars all the way, because it's always clean, the food is always top-notch, the manager and staff are always friendly and polite, and their Spicy Ahi Donburi deserves a perfect 10! You know I have been coming here for years. The only reason I come here is because it's within a mile of my house. Every time I have been at this place the customer service has sucked. Maybe its me but the people who always serve me barely speak english and they are very curt with me when they took my order. Whenever I get my sushi its usually good. The rice is fresh, the sea weed good and the fish is fresh whenever I recieve my food. I like the sushi here but the customer service here is horrible!!! Thats why I don't go there alot anymore.
